Abstract:
In this project I look at our relationship to Nature and how it is expressed in western material culture.  I propose that this relationship is ambivalent and paradoxical and seek means to make this evident.  I look to 18th century gardens for a historical and cultural context and to Rene Descartes for an explanation as to how this ambivalence came to be.  This is the work of someone who thinks too much, makes cynical and wide sweeping assumptions about human behavior and has access to a workshop 7 days a week for 2 years.

Abstract:
An analysis of Earth deformation, earthquakes and tides has been undertaken using Earth tide and interferometric SAR data from ESA satellites. The ability of Earth tides to trigger earthquakes has been investigated by measuring the statistical relationship between earthquake occurrence and Earth tides. Analysing Earth tides data with earthquakes occurrence using Shuster’s test has shown that there is a correlation between Earth tides and earthquake occurrence. The significance of this correlation has been examined as a function of location, earthquake depth and magnitude. It has been found tha

This is the way that in the future may lead to a global quantum network all over the world, that involves satellites and earth station. The use of small satellites to measure the native electric field of the earth has historically presented many problems as a result of the generally modest pointing capabilities of small satellites. In spite of this, the cost of small satellites makes them ideal for just such scientic missions. The data from a small sounding rocket mission is then analyzed and its usefulness discussed. Possible other methods for use are also discussed.

Images of Remembered Earth is a musical composition scored for full orchestra. The composition was inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe's painting, Light Coming on the Plains I (1917), which depicts a sunrise over a flat and empty landscape. In the painting, the expanse of the sun's rays is expressed through an even-blended transformation of color from goldish-blue at the light's source to progressively darker shades of blue near the edges of the canvas. The progression of color is interrupted by thin gold bands which sectionalize the sunrise into seven concentric arches. The construction of the mus

Common techniques for polymer characterisation are described and an overview of relevant phenolate-supported ROP catalysts is given. Reversible chain transfer in ROP is also discussed.
