Abstract By combining qualitative (synchronic and diachronic) and quantitative (algorithmic) approaches, this study examines the nature, structure, and dynamics of the linguistic variation attested in Berber of the Rif area (North, Northwest, and Northeast Morocco). Based on a cross-level corpus of data obtained from the Atlas linguistique des varieties berbères du Rif (Lafkioui 2007) and from numerous linguistic, sociolinguistic, and ethnographic fieldwork investigations in the area since 1992, this study shows that these Berber varieties form a language continuum with the following five stab

The distribution and conservation status of Emys orbicularis occidentalis is reviewed for Morocco. Populations are highly fragmented and vulnerable. The species is largely restricted to mountainous areas in the western Rif and Middle Atlas, with scattered observations of isolated individuals in the Gharb plain and the eastern Rif. Our literature survey and fieldwork indicate an accelerated regression of Emys populations along the Moroccan Atlantic coast due to habitat loss. At the same time, we found European pond turtles having a wider distribution in the Rif Mountains than previously known.

The employed methodology is based on three stages. First, the evaluation of landslide susceptibility (S) by the analysis model cited before. Second, the identification and the estimation of the pot

Background: Implantation appears to be the major rate-limiting step in assisted reproductive techniques success. Recurrent implantation failure (RIF) is a common condition, being the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after transfer of four or more good-quality embryos in a minimum of two IVF cycles in a woman under the age of 40. Human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) is thought to play a key role in implantation by modulating cytokine secretion to enable the semi-allogeneic embryo to implant into the maternal endometrium. The East African Rift System is the world's major continental rift. While much geophysical and petrological attention has been paid to it, at least in the eastern branch ("Eastern Rift"), comparatively little research has been carried out into the geochemistry of rift fluids, despite the potential benefits to theoretical and practical studies. Hydrothermal activity provides the opportunity to sample a very wide range of waters and gases in the Eastern Rift.
