Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
English title: Physicochemical characteristic of ground water for domestic use in the town of Daloa (Midwest, Ivory Coast) The population of Daloa (third largest city in Côte d’Ivoire) mainly consume borehole water to the detriment of water provided by approved company. Thus, the quality of borehole water is evaluated from their physicochemical characteristics in this study. The study carried out in various districts of the city made it possible to measure for fifteen boreholes the physicochemical parameters such as pH, electric conductivity, temperature, nitrite, nitrate, ammonium, sulphate, bicarbonate, calcium, magnesium and potassium. The average values are compared with the standards relating to drinking water quality. The Multivariate statistical analysis whose Principal Components Analysis (PCA) and hierarchical clustering (HC) were also applied to the whole of the measured parameters. The results show that the borehole water is slightly acid with an average pH of 6,0 ± 0,5. It is slightly mineral-bearing with an average electric conductivity of 246,2 ± 162,6 μS/cm. A strong correlation is announced between electric conductivity and the following parameters: nitrate, ammonium, bicarbonate, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium. The classification of borehole controlled by this value of conductivity and pH which makes it possible to gather borehole according to their physicochemical quality. The physicochemical parameters of borehole water from Daloa are in conformity with the directives of WHO.Keywords: Daloa, borehole water, standard, physicochemical parameters, water quality.

Abstract:
Background: Albeit the EAU, NCCN and AUA guidelines provide an excellent evidence-based protocol for the management of MIBC and NMIBC, these guidelines differ with respect to critical issues such as risk level definitions and management strategies. The NE part of the country has always bore the brunt of heavy oncological catastrophe like urinary bladder carcinoma related to extensive tobacco and pesticide usage. MIBC treatment usually encompasses RC with AC/NAC (Level I evidence for NAC use in MIBC exist) but the majority of patients seen at our center have already progressed to advanced stage at presentation and could not undertake full treatment. Methods: Cancer registry of the last 10 yrs at Dept. of Urology and Renal Transplant Gauhati Medical College Hospital was searched for demographic, clinical, pathological and prognostic data and results summarized using statistical parameters of univariate analysis. Results: There were a total of 168 patients in the NMIBC group with a majority in the 60-70-year age group. The most common grade was G2 and all DM type 2 and CKD were significantly associated in all the patients analyzed. Chemical exposure in the form of pesticide and smoking was a constant phenomenon in all patients of NMIBC and MIBC (n=66) population. CKD was significantly associated in the MIBC population along with positive urine cytology. Conclusions: Despite a paucity of high level evidence regarding the majority of management topics in Urinary Bladder cancer in NE part of the country, there was general agreement among the various guideline panels and management guidelines at our institution. Identification of the upfront clinical parameters suggesting severity of disease and time to progression are the two most important domains which will decide the future of UB carcinoma treatment in this part of the world. Categories of evidence synthesized and grades of recommendations will have to be constantly gazed upon to modify and enhance treatment strategies.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Many efforts have been carried out for the standardization of multiparametric Magnetic Resonance (mp-MR) images evaluation to detect Prostate Cancer (PCa), and specifically to differentiate levels of aggressiveness, a crucial aspect for clinical decision-making. Prostate Imaging—Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) has contributed noteworthily to this aim. Nevertheless, as pointed out by the European Association of Urology (EAU 2020), the PI-RADS still has limitations mainly due to the moderate inter-reader reproducibility of mp-MRI. In recent years, many aspects in the diagnosis of cancer have taken advantage of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) such as detection, segmentation of organs and/or lesions, and characterization. Here a focus on AI as a potentially important tool for the aim of standardization and reproducibility in the characterization of PCa by mp-MRI is reported. AI includes methods such as Machine Learning and Deep learning techniques that have shown to be successful in classifying mp-MR images, with similar performances obtained by radiologists. Nevertheless, they perform differently depending on the acquisition system and protocol used. Besides, these methods need a large number of samples that cover most of the variability of the lesion aspect and zone to avoid overfitting. The use of publicly available datasets could improve AI performance to achieve a higher level of generalizability, exploiting large numbers of cases and a big range of variability in the images. Here we explore the promise and the advantages, as well as emphasizing the pitfall and the warnings, outlined in some recent studies that attempted to classify clinically significant PCa and indolent lesions using AI methods. Specifically, we focus on the overfitting issue due to the scarcity of data and the lack of standardization and reproducibility in every step of the mp-MR image acquisition and the classifier implementation. In the end, we point out that a solution can be found in the use of publicly available datasets, whose usage has already been promoted by some important initiatives. Our future perspective is that AI models may become reliable tools for clinicians in PCa diagnosis, reducing inter-observer variability and evaluation time.

Abstract:

Abstract:
217 Background: Chemotherapy-induced anaemia (CIA) is a frequent complication of patients with cancer. The ORHEO (place of biOsimilaRs in the therapeutic management of anaemia secondary to chemotherapy in HaEmatology and Oncology) study was a post-marketing, observational, multicentre study conducted in France that evaluated the changes in haemoglobin (Hb) level in patients with solid tumours, lymphoma or myeloma, treated with an epoetin alfa biosimilar (EAB) (Retacrit, Hospira Inc.). In this subanalysis of the ORHEO study, we compare the usage of EAB in relation to the dosage recommendations of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) guidelines, regarding two criteria: efficacy and safety profile. Methods: Patients with CIA receiving chemotherapy for solid tumours (breast, lung, colorectal), lymphoma or myeloma, and prescribed EAB were monitored at the start of the EAB therapy (D0), at 3 months (M3) and 6 months (M6). Hb response was defined as achievement of target Hb without blood transfusions in the preceding 3 weeks and during treatment or Hb ≥10 g/dL orHb increase ≥1 g/dL since inclusion. The prescribed dosage of EAB according to body weight and the tolerability of EAB at that recommended dosage were analysed at each time point. Results: Data from 2310 patients were analysed. Throughout the study 43.8% of patients received the recommended dose of EAB as determined by their weight. Overall, the percentage of responders was 81.6% at M3 and 86.5% at M6. Responses to treatment (meeting predefined Hb target levels) at M6 were similar whether or not EAB was prescribed at the recommended dose throughout the study. A similar proportion of patients receiving the recommended dose of EAB reported adverse events (AEs) at M6 compared with patients who did not receive the recommended dose (9.9% vs 9.0%). Overall, the incidence of thromboembolic events was 3.5% over the duration of the study (M3 2.4%; M6 1.5%). Conclusions: Of the 2310 patients with CIA included in this analysis, less than half (43.8%) received the recommended dose of EAB over the six-month course of the study. The majority of patients had a similar response to therapy regardless of dose. The frequency of overall AEs at M6 did not vary depending on dose. Clinical trial information: NCT02140736.

Abstract:
Adhesive bonding is increasingly being used in industrial applications mainly due to its adaptability and ability to reliably join a wide range of materials. Numerous industrial sectors have now adopted adhesive bonding as a key manufacturing technology, with the automotive industry being the leader in adhesive usage. This is a key sector for the European Union (climate and energy policy, which has established a target of improving energy efficiency in the European Union by 20% by 2020. Consequently, this industry is constantly demanding lighter, stronger, more durable and more environmentally friendly materials. The increasing popularity of this technology is linked to the noteworthy benefits related with its application, compared to traditional joining process, such as welding or mechanical fastening process. With the increasing popularity of such joining techniques comes the necessity to train qualified professionals. The European Welding Federation developed a harmonized qualification system, which divides the training process into 3 levels: European Adhesive Bonder (EAB), Specialist (EAS) and Engineer (EAE). Currently, in Portugal, the first level of training, corresponding to European Adhesive Bonder is already in operation. The EAB level is accredited by the European Welding Federation (EWF) and therefore meets the requirements of EWF-515r1-10 and EWF-515r2-19 to which the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto is bound as a result of the accreditation as an ATB (Authorized Training Body). This training is targeted for professionals using adhesive bonding technology and professionals who do not currently use this technology but want to use it, and as such has a strong practical component. In Portugal, since 2016, three EWF certified editions have been held, with a high approval rate and met the expectations and objectives of the participants.

The main data and simple linear regression are used for descriptive statistics and statistical analysis of the findings. The habit of wearing earbuds has a negative impact on ear problems. Extended exposure to sound above 110 dB in loudness each day for more than 1 hour per day, along with extended earphone usage, may lead to impaired hearing. To minimize hearing loss, earphone use should be avoided if possible, and use should be limited to less than 1 hour a day, at lower volumes

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to show how grammar interacts with pragmatics and to determine whether situated pragmatic meanings can be explained by Brown and Levinson’s (1987) politeness theory. To address these issues, this study examines Japanese speakers’ use of four benefactive auxiliary verbs in thanking an addressee for a kind deed. The results of two questionnaires indicated that, in thanking usage, ?te kureru, ‘give’, was used to indicate intimacy, whereas ?te morau, ‘receive’, signalled a speaker’s concern for the addressee’s trouble. Honorific forms showed significantly greater psychological distance and heightened attentiveness to the addressee’s welfare. Analysis of these results shows how different, yet metaphorically inferable from grammatical/semantic meanings, the situated meanings are. In so doing, it illustrates that the pragmatic inference and semantic change in thanking usage are channelled by a social norm among Japanese speakers, namely that of attending to another’s welfare or trouble. In contrast, maintenance of positive face did not explain the use of any of the studied linguistic forms in the speech act of thanking. The usage appeared not to be mediated by face, suggesting that face and politeness do not necessarily conflate.

Abstract:

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Background Essential amino acids (EAAs) are key factors in determining dietary protein quality. Their RDAs have been estimated. However, although nonessential amino acids (NEAAs) are utilized for protein synthesis too, no estimates of their usage for body protein replenishment have been proposed so far. Objective The aim of this study was to provide minimum, approximate estimates of NEAA usage for body protein replenishment/conservation in humans. Methods A correlation between the pattern of both EAAs and NEAAs in body proteins, and their usage, was assumed. In order to reconstruct an “average” amino acid pattern/composition of total body proteins (as grams of amino acid per gram of protein), published data of relevant human organs/tissues (skeletal muscle, liver, kidney, gut, and collagen, making up ∼74% of total proteins) were retrieved. The (unknown) amino acid composition of residual proteins (∼26% of total proteins) was assumed to be the same as for the sum of the aforementioned organs excluding collagen. Using international EAA RDA values, an average ratio of EAA RDA to the calculated whole-body EAA composition was derived. This ratio was then used to back-calculate NEAA usage for protein replenishment. The data were calculated also using estimated organ/tissue amino acid turnover. Results The individual ratios of World Health Organization/Food and Agriculture Organization/United Nations University RDA to EAA content ranged between 1.35 (phenylalanine + tyrosine) and 3.68 (leucine), with a mean ± SD value of 2.72 ± 0.81. In a reference 70-kg subject, calculated NEAA usage for body protein replenishment ranged from 0.73 g/d for asparagine to 3.61 g/d for proline. Use of amino acid turnover data yielded similar results. Total NEAA usage for body protein replenishment was ∼19 g/d (45% of total NEAA intake), whereas ∼24 g/d was used for other routes. Conclusion This method may provide indirect minimum estimates of the usage of NEAAs for body protein replacement in humans.

Abstract:
Internet of Things security is one of the most challenging parts of the domain. Combining strong cryptography and lifelong security with highly constrained devices under conditions of limited energy consumption and no maintenance time is extremely difficult task. This paper presents an approach that combines authentication and bootstrapping protocol (TEPANOM) with Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) framework optimized for the IEEE 802.15.4 networks. The solution achieves significant reduction of network resource usage. Additionally, by application of EAP header compacting approach, further network usage savings have been reached. The EAP-TEPANOM solution has achieved substantial reduction of 42% in the number of transferred packets and 35% reduction of the transferred data. By application of EAP header compaction, it has been possible to achieve up to 80% smaller EAP header. That comprises further reduction of transferred data for 3.84% for the EAP-TEPANOM method and 10% for the EAP-TLS-ECDSA based methods. The results have placed the EAP-TEPANOM method as one of the most lightweight EAP methods from ones that have been tested throughout this research, making it feasible for large scale deployments scenarios of IoT.

Abstract:
English Title: Socioeconomic and environmental incidences of pastoral and agro-pastoral infrastructures implemented in Borgou, in North-East of BeninThe development of the livestock sector, which plays an important role in the fighting against rural poverty, has led to the implementation of pastoral and agro-pastoral infrastructures in Borgou, in order to improve living conditions of the populations. Thus, this article aims to evaluate the socio-economic and environmental effects of these infrastructures on the communities where they were implemented. For this purpose, the data relating to the quantity of the factors of production of the agricultural activities carried out around hydraulic infrastructures, to the volumes of the outputs and their sales prices; to the socio-demographic characteristics of the users of these infrastructures; to the conflicts between pastoralists and farmers and the degree of pressure on forest species, were collected using questionnaires, interview guides and direct observations. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, student's t-test, chi-square test, multiple linear and binary logistic regressions. The results show that pastoral and agro-pastoral infrastructures have a positive impact on communities. The dams and reservoirs by their existence have led to the development of market gardening and off-season farming. Producers located near these hydraulic infrastructures earn 32,080 F CFA/ha more than their homologues installed elsewhere. Breeders accessing to these infrastructures earn 1 003 496 F CFA/year more than those without access. The frequency of conflict between farmers and breeders and the pressure on plant species for animal use decrease with the tracing of corridors and the delimitation of grazing areas. However, the sustainability of hydraulic and market infrastructure is not guaranteed due to management failure. The corridors and grazing areas‟s infrastructure are not respected either by the farmers as by the breeders. The establishment of a framework regulating the use of these infrastructures would be very important to socio-economic development of the localities where they were implemented. Keywords: Infrastructures pastoral and agropastoral, conflict, revenue, Borgou.

Abstract:
Abstract Introduction Chemotherapy-induced anaemia (CIA) is a frequent complication of patients (pts) with cancer, associated with fatigue and impaired quality of life, and may have serious medical consequences that can lead to discontinuation or interruption of chemotherapy (CT). Guidelines from the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) recommend epoetin treatment of CIA to increase haemoglobin (Hb) levels and to help to prevent red blood cell transfusions and related complications. Several epoetin alpha biosimilars are currently approved for use in the EU for the treatment of CIA. The ORHEO study (place of biOsimilaRs in the therapeutic management of anaemia secondary to chemotherapy in HaEmatology and Oncology) was a prospective, observational, non-interventional, longitudinal, national, multicentre study conducted in France that evaluated the changes in Hb level in pts with solid tumours, lymphoma or myeloma, treated with an epoetin alfa biosimilar (EAB). In this subanalysis of the ORHEO study, we compare the usage of EAB in relation to the dosage recommendations of the EORTC guidelines, with respect to efficacy and safety. Methods Pts >18 years with CIA (Hb <11 g/dL) in association with solid tumours, lymphoma or myeloma and eligible for EAB treatment were included in this study. Pts were monitored at the start of EAB therapy (D0), at 3 months (M3) and 6 months (M6). Hb response was defined as achievement of target Hb without blood transfusions in the preceding 3 weeks and during treatment or Hb ≥10 g/dL or Hb increase ≥1 g/dL since inclusion. The prescribed dosage of EAB according to body weight and the tolerability of EAB at that recommended dosage were analysed at each time point. Results Data from 2310 pts (mean age ± standard deviation 66.5±11.8 years) from 232 centres were included in the study analysis. Overall, 79.6% of pts had solid tumours, 13.0% had lymphoma and 7.4% myeloma. Of those pts with solid tumours, 30.1% of pts had a stage III and 21.6% had a stage IV tumour. Mean baseline Hb level across all pts was 9.6 g/dL, with 35.6% of pts having moderate anaemia (Hb 8–9.5 g/dL). Almost all pts (99.9%) received the epoetin alpha biosimilar (Retacrit™, Hospira UK Ltd., median dose 30,000 IU/week). Overall, 43.8% of pts received the recommended dose of EAB (as determined by their weight) throughout the study. The proportion of pts receiving the recommended dose showed little variation between malignancies (lymphoma: 43.6%; myeloma: 40.9%; breast: 39.3%; lung: 48.3%; colorectal: 39.5%). Overall, the percentage of responders was 81.6% at M3 and 86.5% at M6. The overall mean change in Hb level was 1.5±1.6 g/dL at M3 and 1.72±1.61 g/dL at M6. Responses to treatment at M6 were similar whether or not EAB was prescribed at the recommended dose throughout the study. A similar proportion of pts receiving the recommended dose of EAB reported adverse events (AEs) at M6 compared with pts who did not receive the recommended dose (9.9 vs 9.0%). Overall, transfusion rates were 9.4% and 5.8%, while the rate of thromboembolic events was 2.4% and 1.5%, at 3 and 6 months respectively. Conclusion In the ORHEO study, 44% of pts received the EORTC recommended dose of EAB over the 6-month course of the study. However, the response to therapy was similar regardless of dose. Furthermore, the frequency of overall AEs at M6 did not vary depending on dose. In conclusion, the EAB Retacrit™ was effective and well tolerated in the management of CIA in pts with solid tumours, lymphoma and myeloma and provides an alternative therapeutic option for the treatment of CIA. Abstract:
Rodent vivaria have traditionally used soiled bedding sentinel (SBS) health-monitoring programs to detect and exclude adventitious pathogens that could affect research results. Given the limitations of SBS, a likely reduction in animal usage, and a decrease in animal care staff labor, exhaust air dust (EAD) health monitoring has been evaluated by several groups for its efficacy in detecting pathogens when used as a complete replacement for traditional SBS health-monitoring programs. Compared with SBS, EAD has also been shown to provide increased sensitivity for the detection of multiple pathogens. After implementing EAD at our institution, we conducted an analysis to compare the annual costs of the 2 health-monitoring programs. The EAD program was found to be 26% less expensive than SBS. In addition to these cost savings, EAD decreased the amount of time spent by the staff on heath-monitoring activities. For veterinary technicians, this decrease in time was calculated as a savings of 150 h annually, almost 3 h each week. Finally, the EAD program replaced the use of live sentinel animals, decreasing the associated yearly usage from 1,676 animals to zero.

Abstract:
Encoded Archival Description (EAD) was adopted as the first standard for encoding finding aids using archival description in 1998. Since then, rapid changes in technology and archival standards have influenced access, use, and adoption of EAD across a variety of institutions. This article was inspired by an initial survey conducted by one of the authors. The results led to a broader survey and a twenty-year literature review surrounding EAD and online finding aids. The authors developed a twenty-five-question survey to reach a broader audience and delve deeper into the initial questions. The purpose was to answer the following questions: Is there a specific year or time period when a mass adoption of the standard can be identified? What factors influenced whether or not an institution adopted the standard? To what extent has technology influenced the usage of EAD? By surveying archivists across the United States, we gathered their input as to why they did or did not use EAD and how changes in technology and tools influenced their adoption and usage of EAD over the past twenty years. This article explores past trends and predictions, as well as current thoughts by archivists about the past, present, and future of this standard.

Abstract:
Noise Induce Hearing Loss (NIHL) is a work disease that is often found in industrial workers. The use of ear protectors that are in accordance with the standard along with the continuity of optimal use can reduce the risk of hearing loss due to noise in the workplace. Adherence to use ear protectors greatly affect the possibility of a person experiencing a more severe hearing loss. The purpose of this study is to prove the existence of relationship of compliance with the use of ear protectors with hearing loss due to noise in the installation of sterilization and laundry. This study used cross sectional methods. Seventeen samples were taken by consecutive sampling for audiometry examination and measurement of compliance with the use of Ear Protective Equipment. Respondents received an average score of 1.86 indicating that compliance with the use of ear protectors was sufficient. Based on the results of the measurement of the auditory threshold in 17 respondents as many as 4 respondents (23%) normal hearing and as many as 13 respondents (77%) experienced NIHL. The results of statistical tests with Pearson correlation show that the Pearson correlation coefficient number of -0.643, which means that the correlation between compliance variables with noise due to noise is 0.643. Based on the criteria above, the relationship between the two variables is significant because the number of significance is P-value / Sig 0.005 <0.05. So, there is a relation between years of work with Noise Induce Hearing Loss, education and Noise Induce Hearing Loss, and compliance with the use of ear protectors with NIHL
