Abstract:
Nutritional counseling disseminated by biomedicine during prenatal consultations is of particular importance in the context of reproductive health. These advices are given to the pregnant woman in order to prevent all forms of food imbalances that could harm her as well as the fetus. This is why it is essential for pregnant women to take this into account. But at the Ébrié akouai in Bingerville, pregnant women must also respect traditional food norms. The existence of this traditional diet is not without effects on nutritional counseling. These effects are manifold and result in noncompliance with nutritional recommendations. At the same time, they show the limits of the nutrition education of pregnant. We have tried to discover them through individual conversations, focus group and direct observations.

Abstract:
Eleven samples of Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus and one sample of C. maurus were studied using morphometrics and enzyme polymorphism. Samples from opposite areas in the range of the species were most differentiated morphologically (Dagana in Senegal and Selingue in Mali, on one hand, and Bas Kouilou in Congo, on the other hand). In the sample from Bas Kouilou, most specimens overlap those from Ebrie Lagoon in Côte d'Ivoire. The populations from Côte d'Ivoire are genetically the most variable and have the highest number of alleles in common with the sample of C. maurus (ancestral alleles). The samples from the limits of the species' range (Dagana, Bas Kouilou) are those that have the least polymorphism (both monomorphs) and the fewest alleles in common with C. maurus. On the basis of these results we present a hypothetical scenario for the colonization of basins by populations of C. nigrodigitatus after the last glaciation. Colonization started in the area between Côte d'Ivoire and Benin. From this region of origin, some populations colonized the basins to the west via the coastal area up to Senegal. Independently, other populations colonized the basins to the east via the coastal area up to Zaïre. The colonization of the Niger most likely occurred through its Lower Delta.

Abstract:
Aquatic pollution in Côte d'Ivoire is severe in several places. The Ivorian government therefore requested and later obtained technical assistance from the Danish government for the training of personnel and the equipment of an environmental central laboratory and of a pollution combating unit. The structure CIAPOL (Centre Ivorian Anti-Pollution) in charge of setting up the two components of the project, was created by the government of Côte d'Ivoire in May 1991. A coastal and a continental monitoring network have been implemented. Nutrients, heavy metals, pesticides, hydrocarbons and microbiological methods have been adapted for the survey programs of water, sediment and biota. Results presented in this paper show spatiotemporal variations of the ammonia concentrations in the lagoon waters. Very high concentrations in the Bietry bay of hydrocarbons in sediment and zinc in oysters trace petroleum refinery pollution. The extremely high microbiological contamination of the lagoon water around Abidjan should preclude its use for any purpose. The staff of the centre has been trained in the use of the oil spill recovery equipment. Alert procedures and communications have been introduced. Today the CIAPOL is involved in national conventions and international projects. It is designated to become the Reference Laboratory in the region and will be in charge of training and intercalibration sessions within these projects.

Abstract:
Abstract This study focused on the diversity of fish fauna, its conservation status and its vulnerability in the Aghien freshwater lagoon (southeast of Côte d'Ivoire). For the fish data collection, two sampling approaches were used: experimental fishing and artisanal fishing. As a result, 80 species observed in this lagoon are distributed into 55 genera, 27 families and 10 orders. The best represented orders are the Perciformes, Siluriformes, Osteoglossiformes, Characiformes, Cyprinodontiformes and Pleuronectiformes. The Cichlidae, Mormyridae and Clupeidae represented the best diversified family. With an occurrence of 100%, the most frequent species are: Brycinus longipinnis, Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus, Pellonula leonensis, Schilbe intermedius and S. mandibularis. In the whole fish population, according to IUCN red list, four species where described as Near Threatened (Coptodon walteri, Marcusenius furcidens, Galeoides decadactylus and Cynoglossus senegalensis), four as Vulnerable (B. brevis, Rhexipanchax nimbaensis, Enteromius raimbaulti and Tilapia busumana) and one as Endangered species (Pseudotolithus senegalensis). These categories of species that have a conservation interest according to the IUCN Red List represent respectively 10.26% of the whole population. Fish population of the Aghien Lagoon are divided into seven classes ranging from “low” to “very high” vulnerability, regarding the vulnerability to stress due to fishing pressure.

Abstract:
Coptodon hybride est un poisson issu des croisements naturels entre Coptodon zillii X Coptodon guineensis. La présente étude a pour objectif de caractériser les habitudes et les stratégies alimentaires de ce poisson, en fonction de la taille des individus, des stations d’échantillonnage et des saisons hydrologiques dans la lagune Ebrié (Côte d’Ivoire). Sur un total de 323 individus (65< longueur standard ≤ 225 mm) capturés d’août 2014 à juillet 2015 avec des filets maillants, 236 tubes digestifs contenaient des proies et 87 étaient vides (26,93%). L’Indice d’Importance Relative (%IRI) qui prend en compte les pourcentages d’occurrence, numérique et pondérale, a été utilisé pour évaluer l’importance relative des différentes catégories de proies dans les tubes digestifs. Cinq groupes de proies ont été identifiés : insectes, zooplancton, crustacés, phytoplancton et plantes terrestres. Le régime alimentaire de Coptodon hybride est essentiellement constitué de plantes terrestres, surtout de débris végétaux (91,53% de l’IRI). L’analyse du coefficient de corrélation de Spearman montre une variation du régime en fonction de la taille et des stations. Cependant, il n’y a pas d’influences significatives des saisons sur l’alimentation des individus de petites tailles (65-129 mm) et ceux de grandes tailles (130-225 mm).Mots clés: Habitudes alimentaires, Coptodon hybride, lagune Ebrié, Côte d’Ivoire. English Title: Feeding habits of hybrid Coptodon resulting from natural crosses between Coptodon zillii (Gervais, 1848) and Coptodon guineensis (Bleeker, 1862) in the Ebrié lagoon (Côte d'Ivoire)Hybrid Coptodon is a fish resulting from natural crosses between Coptodon zillii X Coptodon guineensis. The objective of this study is to characterize the feeding habits of this fish, according to the size of individuals, sampling sites and hydrological seasons in the Ebrié lagoon (Côte d'Ivoire). A total of 323 specimens (65< standard length ≤ 225 mm) were captured from August 2014 to July 2015 with gillnets. hundred and thirty-six digestive tracts contained prey and 87 were empty (26.93%). The Relative Index (%IRI), including the occurrence, numerical and weight percentages, was used to assess the importance of the different categories of prey in the digestive tract. Five groups of prey have been insects, zooplankton, crustaceans, phytoplankton and terrestrial plants. The hybrid tilapia’s diet shows terrestrial plants and plant debris (91.53% of IRI). The Spearman correlation coefficient analysis variations as a function of size and sample sites. Abstract:
We assessed the infection risks related to the use of wastewater in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, by using quantitative microbial risk assessment (QMRA). Giardia lamblia and Escherichia coli were isolated and identified in wastewater samples from the canal and lagoon. The exposure assessment was conducted using a cross-sectional survey by questionnaire with 150 individuals who were in contact with the wastewater during their daily activities of swimming, fishing, washing, and collecting materials for reuse. Risk was characterised using the Monte Carlo simulation with 10,000 iterations. Results showed high contamination of water by G. lamblia and E. coli (12.8 CFU/100 mL to 2.97 × 104CFU/100 mL and from 0 cyst/L to 18.5 cysts/L, respectively). Estimates of yearly average infection risks for E. coli (90.07–99.90%, assuming that 8% of E. coli were E. coli O157:H7) and G. lamblia (9.4–34.78%) were much higher than the acceptable risk (10−4). These results suggest the need for wastewater treatment plants, raising awareness in the population in contact with urban wastewater and lagoon water. Our study also showed that QMRA is appropriate to study health risks in settings with limited data and budget resources.

Abstract:
Le pays ébrié est un espace ethnoculturel d'une superficie de 1461 km2. TI englobe la grande métropole abidjanaise et sa proche région, mais les espaces ruraux recouvrent 60% de ce territoire. Ces espaces ont connu d'importants changements sous l'influence de la ville d'Abidjan et du développement des activités de production. Des questions se posent: comment réagissent les Ebrié, « propriétaires» coutumiers de ces espaces face aux différentes pressions et comment gèrent-ils leur espace ? A partir d'enquêtes de terrain, cette étude montre qu'au nom de la coutume, la gestion des espaces terrestres et lagunaires reste le domaine exclusif des Ebrié. Toutefois, la monétarisation générale de cette société favorise la valorisation économique des ressources par la location, la délégation d'usage, ou la vente aux allochtones. Par ailleurs, les règles de gestion se modulent d'un village à un autre en fonction des facteurs locaux, des contraintes de l'économie marchande et de l'urbanisation.
