Abstract:

Measurements of blood cholinesterase (ChE) activities, including those of erythrocytes (EChE), plasma or serum (PChE), and whole blood (WBChE), are used to assess exposure to ChE-inhibiting pesticides. The purpose of this review was to report normal reference ChE activities in the blood of healthy adult humans, as determined by a modified electrometric method. We performed a systematic review following PRISMA guidelines. Single-group meta-analysis of means of PChE, EChE, and WBChE activities of adult healthy subjects was conducted using the random effects model. The programs used were Open-Meta Analyst and Meta-Essentials Version 1.5. Studies selected for analysis comprised 21, 19, and 4 reports of normal reference/baseline PChE, EChE, and WBChE activities in 690, 635, and 121 healthy adult males and/or females, respectively. The meta-analysis showed normal reference values of the means (effect sizes) with 95% CI of PChE, EChE, and WBChE activities of healthy adult subjects, which were 1.078 (1.015, 1.142), 1.075 (1.024, 1.125) and 1.331 (1.226, 1.436), respectively. By the subgroup analysis, heterogeneity (I2>89%) was considerably reduced in females to 4.4% and 30.1% for PChE and EChE, respectively. Funnel plots indicated no publication bias. However, Egger's regression confirmed the symmetry of the data points for PChE and WBChE activities with a significant effect on EChE. This meta-analysis showed normal reference values of PChE, EChE, and WBChE activities, measured by a modified electrometric method, in healthy adult humans.

Abstract:

Previous efforts on assessing static strength of the flange joint components of the emergency cooling heat exchanger 08.8111.335 SB (ECHE) performed using the finite element method (FEM) revealed that there is an excess of permissible stress values for flange joint components of heat exchanger Dn2130 and Dn2080. These static strength calculations considered the design values for tightening of flange studs. Failure to meet the strength conditions flange joint components is due to the fact that the effect of «protrusion» under pressure of the bottom and shell attached to the flanges, as well as depending on the tightening force of the studs, the system of equilibrium applied force changes. This, in turn, leads to deformation of flange joint components. The paper presents an approach to reducing stress in flange joint components of ECHE first used at ZNPP-4. As a result of additional iterative calculations, the boundary conditions under which the strength conditions in all flange joint components of the heat exchanger are met are determined. In addition, the compliance with tightness condition for flange connections is considered. Thus, the analysis of the calculations established that when the tightening value of flange connection Dn2080 studs equal to 6800 kgf (corresponding to the torque on the key of 65 kg ∙m), the strength conditions for all groups of reduced stresses in all elements of the flange unite. In addition, at this value of stud tightening, the tightness of the flange connection Dn2080 is maintained. Analysis of similar iterative calculations of flange connection Dn2130 shows that for this flange connection it is recommended to reduce the tightening of the flange connection studs to the value of 14600 kgf, which is equal to the torque on the key of 145 kg ∙ m.

El presente trabajo discute la emergencia de una nueva gubernamentalidad política, “el ciberalismo” o, en otros términos, “el ciberliberalismo”, asociada a la hegemonía de prácticas que fetichizan e idealizan el desarrollo tecnológico y, al mismo tiempo, desarrollan nuevas maneras de dominación y sujeción deseante de los sujetos. Para esto, estudiaremos su origen tanto en sus prácticas sociales como en sus discursos explícitos, desde la contracultura californiana del siglo pasado hasta la actual pregnancia económica de Silicon Valley. Posteriormente, argumentaremos por qué existe una discontinuidad entre la gubernamentalidad ciberal y la gubernamentalidad neoliberal, así como una diferencia entre aquel concepto y las nociones de tecnoliberalismo y gubernamentalidad algorítmica. Abstract:

Organophosphorus (OP) poisoning is an important global health problem especially in developing countries. Estimation of erythrocyte cholinesterase (EChE) and plasma cholinesterase (BChE) as an evidence of OP poisoning is costly, not regularly performed and shows wide inter-individual variability. To study the feasibility of using serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK) as a predictor for severity of OP poisoning. Thirty four patients were included in this study who were admitted to tertiary care centre with history of OP poisoning less than 24hrs. The clinical severity of patients categorized according to Peradeniya organophosphorus poisoning (POP) scale. In our study 53.0% were male, 47.0% were female. Incidence of OP poisoning was more common among age group 21-30 years. Farmers (38.2%) were more common among occupation. Monocrotophos (46.0%) was commonly used compound for poisoning. 38.2% patients were severe. There was significant reduction in plasma cholinesterase and significant increase in CPK levels. There was a highly significant correlation between initial serum CPK levels and severity of acute OP poisoning. This study recommends CPK as an alternative biomarker for acute OP poisoning.

El trabajo profundiza sobre el padrinazgo afro-indígena en Arica y sus valles más próximos durante el periodo denominado Colonial Tardío, específicamente entre los años 1695 a 1800. Analiza las preferencias y peculiaridades que se presentan en la zona, en torno a este compromiso sacro, sus motivaciones y alcances tendientes a la conformación de redes y el surgimiento de sujetos notables, de diversas categorías étnicas. Si bien Arica y sus valles cercanos son un reflejo de la metrópolis administrativa, los registros parroquiales y notariales evidencian ciertos márgenes de acercamiento, predilección o reticencia entre las diversas castas que conforman la zona de estudio en relación con la realidad observada en el sistema de haciendas y sociedad urbana limeña; debido principalmente a la reducida población local, lo que motivó la necesidad de estrechar relaciones entre las variadas categorías étnicas existentes.

Abstract:

Vehicular Ad-hoc NETworks (VANETs) are typically termed as a wireless ad-hoc network that contains extreme node mobility and also the network carries a great significance in various traffic-oriented commercial applications and safety services. Due to its high mobility, routing in VANET has been a challenging work and also proving a higher rate of packet delivery ratio with reduced packet loss has been more important to be considered in route formations. With that note, this paper contributes to developing a clustering model called Middle-Order Vehicle-based Clustering (MOVC) model for managing the frequent topological change and high vehicle mobility, and efficiently handling the typical road traffic scenario. Moreover, the algorithm is intended to maintain the cluster to be constant for managing the vehicles in effective ways and also to provide uninterrupted communication between the vehicles. An algorithm for Effective Cluster Head Election (ECHE) is also derived in this paper for proficiently handling the frequency variation on the highways. Further, the model is simulated and evaluated on the basis of various metrics of VANET routing, specifically packet loss, packet delivery ratio, network lifetime and throughput. The results show that the proposed mechanism outperforms the results of existing models.

En este trabajo cuestiono el binarismo con el que solemos oponer, como incompatibles, la “poesía” del proyecto quijotesco y la “prosa” del mundo. El laborioso proceso de creación del nombre Rocinante constituye la formulación más temprana y explícita de la práctica poética de Don Quijote. Esa práctica revela una suerte de chapucería mágica en la que la construcción caballeresca no excluye la prosa de lo real sino que, al contrario, la incorpora como su punto de partida y su materia prima. La empresa quijotesca consiste precisamente en la tarea de trocar todo lo que ya está dado en el mundo en algo hecho, construido. Para Don Quijote, cada cosa, cada persona que encuentra en el camino es una aventura “congelada,” en espera de que él llegue, la deshiele, y la eche a andar. Vista de este modo, la empresa de Don Quijote resulta extrañamente idéntica al proyecto novelístico de Cervantes, que descubre en cada objeto imaginable un tesoro de posibilidades narrativas. Don Quijote es, convencionalmente, la gran figura de la disyunción entre realidad e imaginación. Pero aquí propongo que lo veamos como la figura dinámica, performativa, de la relación —más fluida e incierta que nuestras acostumbradas dicotomías— entre lo imaginado y lo real.

Background & Objectives: Organophosphorus (OP) poisoning is an important global health problem. Estimation of erythrocyte cholinesterase (EChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) as an evidence of OP poisoning is costly and not regularly performed. There are emerging options for new cheaper biochemical markers in relation to OP poisoning like creatine phosphokinase (CPK). The objectives of this study were to measure serum CPK level and correlate it with severity of poisoning, to evaluate clinical and prognostic significance of CPK in OP poisoning, to assess if serum CPK level can be used as an alternative of BChE level to stratify OP poisoning severity.Method: Total 100 patients of OP poisoning without any prior treatment, presenting within 12 hours, were selected and their clinical severity was categorized according to Peradeniya Organophosphorus Poisoning (POP) scale. Level of serum CPK, blood BChE and pH were measured and total dose of atropine required (mg) until final clinical outcome was calculated.Results: Out of 100, 43% patients had mild, 36% moderate and 21% severe clinical picture. There was a significant positive correlation between serum CPK value and requirement of atropine dose in patient with severe POP scale category and negative correlation with pH and serum cholinesterase levels, indicating that more severe the poisoning more will be serum CPK and requirement of atropine doses while less will be pH and serum cholinesterase, (p<0.0001).Conclusions: This study suggests role of serum creatine kinase as surrogate, relatively cheap and easily quantifiable markers of severe OPC exposure and their association.

Abstract:

Background: Organophosphorus Poisoning has been found to be a major cause of death or morbidity in our country as it freely available without need of prescription unlike in developed countries where prescription is required to purchase insecticides, the various organophosphorus compounds available are Malathion, parathion, diazinon, fenthion, dichlorvos, chlorpyrifos, ethion. Erythrocyte cholinesterase (EchE) and pseudocholinesterase (Butyryl cholinesterase-BchE) are markers used for assessing the severity in OP poisoning, but estimation of these are costly, has variable values for different individuals and is not available at all centers. This study was done to estimate levels of serum Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK)serially in acute OP poisoning patients and to correlate with prognosis.Methods: 50 patients of organophosphorus poisoning admitted to Mcgann hospital attached to Shimoga institute of medical sciences Shimoga over a period of 6 months from 1st July 2016 to 31st December 2016 were taken up for the study. A comprehensive history and detailed clinical examination was performed and patients were clinically evaluated for severity. Level of serum cholinesterase and serum CPK were estimated at admission and CPK level was measured on day 3 and day 5. The outcome of these patients was evaluated.Results: Out of 50 patients, 78% (n=39) were males and 22% (n=11) were females. Majority of patients were in the age group 21 – 40 years. Chlorpyrifos was the most common compound used. 72% had mild, 20% had moderate and 8% had severe poisoning. Serial measurements of serum CPK levels showed significant correlation with the severity of acute OP poisoning patients. The CPK levels showed a sensitivity of 74% and a specificity of 81% with a positive predictive value of 92%.Conclusions: Severe organo phosphorus poisoning is correlated with CPK levels. This study recommends CPK level estimation in assessment of severity and prognosticate patients with organophosphorus compound as alternate marker to choline esterase.

Abstract:

Background & Objective: There is an increased ratio of cesarean sections (CS) compared to normal deliveries the world over. Both general and regional anesthetic techniques are in practice for CS. Limited information is available on the determination of blood cholinesterase (ChE) activity in conjunction with oxidative stress biomarkers after the CS. The purpose of the present study was to determine and compare the plasma and erythrocyte ChE activity as well as malondialdehyde (MDA) level and total antioxidant status in pregnant women before anesthesia and after the use of general anesthesia (GA) or spinal anesthesia (SA) for elective CS. Methodology: A pre-post study was conducted on 102 full-term pregnant women, who underwent elective CS in four hospitals at Duhok (Iraq) from January 2022 to July 2022. GA with propofol and SA with bupivacaine 0.5% were administered to 52 and 50 women, respectively. Maternal blood samples before anesthesia and after the completion of operation were assayed for the ChE activity in the plasma and erythrocytes, and plasma oxidative stress biomarkers malondialdehyde and total antioxidant status. Results: Plasma ChE activity significantly decreased in the GA and SA groups after the cesarean-deliveries compared to the corresponding pre-anesthetic values. The plasma MDA level in both GA and SA groups, but not the total antioxidant status, was significantly reduced. Abstract:

The Inaouène watershed (3600 km2), part of the Sebou River’s upper valley in northern Morocco, faces urban, agricultural, and industrial discharges. This research investigates the environmental impact of heavy metal contamination in sediments and its implications for sustainable watershed management and long-term ecological protection. Sediment samples were collected from six sites along the river and the Idriss 1st dam. A combined approach of geochemical analyses and multivariate statistical methods (PCA, HCA) identified metal sources and grouped sites by contamination patterns. Additionally, pollution indices (Igeo, EF, PLI) were used to assess contamination levels and infer potential sources. Results revealed variable metal concentrations: upstream (Ech1) showed high levels of chromium (133 mg/kg) and copper (32.5 mg/kg) linked to urban discharges and erosion, while downstream (Ech6) exhibited high barium (3245 mg/kg) and strontium (505 mg/kg) concentrations due to dam sedimentation. Pollution indices confirmed moderate to high contamination, particularly at Ech1 and Ech6. Multivariate analysis identified three main clusters influenced by both anthropogenic and geological factors. These findings underline the need for integrated sediment management, regular monitoring, and environmental protection strategies to preserve the watershed and the aquifer’s ecological balance.

Abstract:

The article deals with the methodology of echeloning of items of material and food supply as part of the combat equipment complex of a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine. The methodology is presented in the form of an algorithm of actions of a decision-maker with regard to the items of cloth-ing and food support required for the performance of the assigned task and their distribution by eche-lons. The list of material property of the combat kits of the NGU servicemen contains a sufficiently large number of items provided for by the supply standards. The question of what kind of items of material support should be carried and how they should be rationally distributed between echelons when per-forming specific service-combat (combat) tasks currently has no clear answer, which gives rise to some uncertainty in practice, ambiguity of decisions on the list of necessary items of this nomencla-ture, organization of their transportation (transfer) and rational use. Such uncertainty can lead to an incomplete provision of military personnel with appropriate means or, on the contrary, to the for-mation of an excess of items. In any case, the discrepancy between the items of clothing and food sup-ply as part of the combat equipment complex and the real needs leads to a decrease in the effective-ness of the actions of servicemen and units in which they perform their tasks. Therefore, the develop-ment of a methodology for echeloning items of clothing and food support as part of the combat equipment complex of the NGU serviceman in the interests of ensuring the effectiveness of actions of servicemen (units) in performing assigned tasks is an urgent task. When developing this methodology, a number of results and theoretical positions presented by the authors in previous works on this topic were taken into account, according to the references in the list of references. The formalized statement of the problem of echeloning the combat equipment complex (by elements of clothing and food supply) of a serviceman of the National Guard of Ukraine, depend-ing on the nature of service-combat (combat) tasks, was performed using a theoretical-multiple ap-proach. Accordingly, the developed methodology provides for an orderly sequence of actions on sets of items, taking into account the factors and limitations that affect the needs of a serviceman to per-form specific assigned tasks and their distribution by echelons for the purpose of effective use, creat-ing prerequisites for the successful completion of assigned tasks according to their factors of influ-ence.

Abstract Purpose: Wellness interventions are important for improving outcomes, including physical function (PF), in cancer survivors. The COACH study is a randomized, wait-list controlled trial assessing feasibility of a 6-month digital health coaching (DHC) program for individuals within one year of completing primary cancer therapy, and those with metastatic disease. Diverse patient-reported outcome (PRO), wearable, device, gut microbiome, and dietary data are collected up to once monthly from 675 individuals over 12 months. This interim analysis examined change in PF using the PROMIS Short Form v2.0-PF 10a. Methods: The analysis included a pooled sample of participants who completed baseline and 6-month assessments as of November 2024. Descriptive statistics evaluated trends in physical function by age, sex, enrollment site, metastatic disease, and tumor and primary treatment type. Summary Data: Among the 352 individuals enrolled across 7 study sites, 177 completed baseline and 6-month assessments to date. Mean age of participants was 59.7 (R 30-83, SD 11.8). Fourteen participants (8%) identified as Black or African American, 9 (5%) as Hispanic or Latino, 147 (83%) as non-Hispanic White, and 7 (4%) as other, including Asian, American Indian, or Alaskan Native. Mean PROMIS PF scores by analysis group are presented in Table 1. Conclusions: An interim analysis of PF data demonstrated trending improvements across all groups from baseline to 6 months, except at one site enrolling only individuals with metastatic breast cancer, for whom mean difference is lower than in those with non-metastatic disease. Minimally important differences in PROMIS PF for individuals with advanced cancer is 4-6 points. At study completion (July 2026), a full analysis will be conducted to explore differences in PF by various patient characteristics, and if and how DHC may impact these trends over time. Intelligent audio systems are ubiquitous in our lives, such as speech command recognition and speaker recognition. However, it is shown that deep learning-based intelligent audio systems are vulnerable to adversarial attacks. In this paper, we propose a physical adversarial attack that exploits reverberation, a natural indoor acoustic effect, to realize imperceptible, fast, and targeted black-box attacks. Unlike existing attacks that constrain the magnitude of adversarial perturbations within a fixed radius, we generate reverberation-alike perturbations that blend naturally with the original voice sample 1. Additionally, we can generate more robust adversarial examples even under over-the-air propagation by considering distortions in the physical environment. Extensive experiments are conducted using two popular intelligent audio systems in various situations, such as different room sizes, distance, and ambient noises. The results show that Echo can invade into intelligent audio systems in both digital and physical over-the-air environment.

Uno dei maggiori problemi connessi alio studio del SNC di pazienti in età pediatrica con RM è indubbiamente costituito dalla durata dell'esame stesso, che impone sovente la necessità di una sedazione farmacologica del paziente e limita allo stretto indispensabile il numero delle acquisizioni effettuate. Appare pertanto facilmente intuibile l'entusiasmo rivolto verso nuovi tipi di sequenze che presentino quale caratteristica principale una drastica riduzione dei tempi di acquisizione pur mantenendo un'affidabile qualità diagnostica. Le sequenze di tipo Fast-Spin-Echo (FSE) costituiscono il successivo sviluppo delle sequenze denominate RARE (Rapid Acquisition Relaxation Enhanced) descritte da Henning nel 1986, abbinando la semeiotica di segnale RM delle convenzionali sequenze in Spin-Echo (Conventional Spin-Echo o CSE), largamente più diffuse, al vantaggio di un rapido tempo di acquisizione (figure 1, 2). La sequenza FSE, tuttavia, per le caratteristiche tecniche che la contraddistinguono, non può essere considerata semplicisticamente come una sequenza Spin-Echo veloce: la sua applicazione nella pratica quotidiana merita pertanto — al pari di quanto già fatto per sequenze ormai diffusamente utilizzate quali la Spin-Echo e la Gradient-Echo — una approfondita analisi delle capacità intrinseche e delle potenzialità diagnostiche. Il nostro scopo è stato quello di esaminare comparativamente le immagini ottenute, mediante sequenze FSE e CSE, in 78 pazienti in età pediatrica, valutando non solo la qualità diagnostica delle Stesse (nel normale e nel patologico), ma effettuando anche una analisi quantitativa del segnale rilevato e del contrasto relativo esistente tra le diverse componenti tissutali visualizzate.
