En este artículo, proponemos los cuentos “Sensini” y “Una aventura literaria” de Llamadas telefónicas de Roberto Bolaño como dos modos de habitar el mundo contemporáneo: el silencio como mecanismo de resistencia frente al mercado y el ruido como eco de una violencia de aquel, expresados en literaturas a la intemperie y mercantilizada, respectivamente, en una sociedad articulada por el horror, transfigurado en su perpetuidad y ligado a la figura de Frank Kafka.

Abstract:

Pretende-se trabalhar a noção de falta em Jacques Lacan a partir do texto A negativa de Freud. Para tanto, propõe-se o conceito de simbólico como desejo do Outro. Em seguida, será desenvolvido o conceito de pecado como sinônimo do desejo do Outro. Pretende-se sugerir o simbólico como uma instância que sustenta a marca deixada pelo pecado. As conseqüências da noção de pecado fazem eco à ressurreição de Cristo. Essa marca traz o sujeito suposto saber - Deus-Pai - como camuflador do horror suscitado pelo pecado.

Abstract:

Os anos 1970 foram palco de uma onda de filmes do gênero eco-horror, dos quais se destaca Phase IV (1974), único longa-metragem dirigido por Saul Bass. O filme é tomado no artigo como um experimento diante da interpelação de povos não-humanos, no caso, as formigas, à humanidade, representada pelo discurso científico. Tendo em vista a atual catástrofe ambiental, propõe-se que o cinema seja um lugar privilegiado para o desenvolvimento de um aparato mítico-real capaz de lidar com o fim do mundo humano.

Abstract:

This paper attempts to respond to the environmental difficulties faced by overpopulation by adapting a question of Levinas's, ‘is it ecologically just to be?’, of which ‘is it ecologically just to make more children?’ is an important correlate. I suggest that both an affirmative account of life as deployed in affirmative biopolitics, as well as the pessimistic thought of death in anti-natalist philosophy are insufficient to respond to these questions. An eco-deconstructive account of life:death, however, allows us both to respond to the horror inspired in thinking one's life at the expense of so many others, human and nonhuman, while thinking the affirmation of life otherwise in inventing, each time uniquely, more just responses to overpopulation.

Abstract:

Hiroshima mon amour é o filme de 1959, de Marguerite Duras e Alain Resnais que, sessenta anos depois, é ainda considerado inesgotável obra prima do cinema e da literatura. A partir da concepção de Humberto Eco (1971) sobre a “palavra poética” e do entendimento de Ricoeur (1983) que retoma Aristóteles ao considerar o processo de representação como a atividade poética em si, neste trabalho, pretende-se mostrar aspectos da poética com que a autora trata a dimensão da memória e do horror, opondo-lhe uma relação de amor em que o “visível” leva ao “invisível” e abre-se para o “aberto” da escrita (cf. BLANCHOT, 1955, p. 185).

Abstract:

Em 1997, W.G. Sebald apresentou duas conferências na Universidade de Zurique, nas quais defendeu que os ataques aéreos sofridos pela Alemanha não encontravam praticamente nenhum eco nas representações literárias produzidas no país. Com a exceção de uma narrativa escrita por Hans Erich Nossack, as poucas descrições ficcionais eram breves e muito ornamentadas, não oferecendo uma imagem aproximada do que foi o horror dos bombardeios. Suas afirmações tiveram grande repercussão, servindo como um impulso fértil para a discussão do assunto. Nesse contexto, Vergeltung (Retaliação) (1956), de Gert Ledig, tornou-se a bandeira do crítico literário Volker Hage para afirmar que a literatura alemã produziu, sim, obras de relevância sobre o tema, mas o trauma não permitiu que houvesse uma recepção positiva dos leitores em geral, razão pela qual esse livro, assim como outros, caiu no esquecimento. Este artigo apresenta a discussão que envolve a tese de Sebald e algumas das características que podem ter ocasionado uma maior resistência a Vergeltung na época de seu lançamento: a brutalidade crua da destruição física e psíquica que trespassa todo o livro e o tratamento que o autor concede à questão dos bombardeios como retaliação.

Abstract:

Particular genres are becoming more appealing in modern fiction, including dystopia, post-apocalyptic novels, and eco-horror. Post-industrial consciousness threatens the world due to environmental impacts and the loss of the most important living “landmarks” (orientations), i.e., dehumanization. In the “man versus nature” relations system, the Kazakh writer Aslan Zhaksylykov differentiates key elements in the “man versus man” paradigm: first, the “social animal” and secondly, the involuntary outcast or biological mutant. Starting with the Dreams of the Damned (first edition in 2006) literary cycle, in the creative thinking perspective the author discusses the “ilinxian” text phenomenon, the discursive space of connectomes and humanistic ideas embodied in ethno-cultural masks. Santrauka Tam tikri žanrai šiuolaikinėje grožinėje literatūroje, įskaitant distopiją, poapokaliptinius romanus ir ekologijos siaubą, įgyja daugiau patrauklumo. Postindustrinė sąmonė kelia grėsmę pasauliui dėl poveikio aplinkai ir dėl pačių svarbiausių gyvenimo gairių (orientyrų) praradimo, i.e. dehumanizacijos. „Žmogus versus gamta“ santykių sistemoje kazachų rašytojas Aslanas Zhaksylykovas atskiria pagrindinius „žmogus versus gamta“ paradigmos elementus: pirma, „socialinį gyvūną“ ir, antra, nevalingai atstumtąjį ar biologinį mutantą. Pradėdama nuo Pasmerktųjų svajonių (pirmasis leidimas pasirodė 2006 m.) literatūros ciklo, kūrybinio mąstymo perspektyvoje autorė aptaria ilinx teksto fenomeną, diskursyviąją konektomų ir humanistinių idėjų, reiškiamų etnokultūrinėmis kaukėmis, erdvę.

Abstract:

This chapter will return to Woolf’s Three Guineas and political agency and look at Butler’s Kindred and Parable of the Sower. Thechapter has three sections, each addresses different types of political horror. First there is a return to racial and colonial terror in Euzhan Palcy’s A Dry White Season (1989), Claire Denis’s Chocolat (1988) and White Material (2009). Then the chapter takes us to the outcasts and powerful lost souls in man-eat-men environments in The Bad Batch (Ana Lily Amirpour, 2016), Tigers are not Afraid (Issa Lopez, 2017) and Songs My Brothers Taught Me (Chloé Zhao, 2015). In Atlantics (Mati Diop 2019) the sea off the coast of Senegal raises many ghosts from the past and the present. The chapter concludes with a section of eco-horror through the eyes of female directors: Spoor (Agnieska Holland 2017) is an allegory of the feminist backlash in contemporary Poland, wrapped in a hunting tale. Little Joe (Jessica Hausner 2019) and Glass Garden (Shin Sue-won 2017) are contemporary Frankenstein stories with idiosyncratic female scientists.
