Abstract:
The article considers development issues of the oil and gas sector in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra and its municipalities. The impact of this sector on the air environment is analyzed. A retrospective analysis of the dynamic indicators of oil and gas production and emissions of pollutants was performed. The peculiarities of their correlation in time and space (within municipal districts) were described. An ambiguous relationship between these processes caused by institutional, economic and environmental characteristics was noted.

The results of human economic activity lead to environmental pollution. Under the current conditions, it is necessary to look for ways aimed not only at minimizing the anthropogenic impact on the habitat, but also at ensuring decent living conditions for humans, that is, to create conditions for sustainable development of the territory. Ecological capacity is an indicator that determines the stability of an ecosystem to adverse anthropogenic influences. There are a large number of methodological approaches that are used to determine it. In order to carry out an environmental assessment of the

Abstract:
Mining industries can have destructive environmental impacts regardless of the method used. However, they also offer significant economic benefits. In particular, the impacts of surface mining methods, such as open-pit mining, on the environment and social welfare are more evident and felt by the public. This Policy Note argues that the government need not choose between economic development and environmental and social welfare. Instead, it suggests that the government can pursue the economic benefits of open-pit mining while addressing the environmental challenges that come with it. By establ

Sweden’s Environmental Quality Objectives (EQOs) have been adopted to help describe the environment the country wishes to achieve, and are a promise to future generations of clean air, a healthy living environment, and rich opportunities to enjoy nature. Here, we assessed selected socio-economic indicators adapted from the Montréal Process for the Conservation and Sustainable Management of Temperate and Boreal Forests (MP) to examine trends in the Swedish forest sector of direct relevance to the EQOs. We did this with the aim of raising awareness about important socio-economic dimensions relat
