The Institute of Organic Agriculture has outlined the prospects for an increase in organic products on the world market. Now its share is almost one percent. But these prospects were planned back in 2018, before the start of the coronavirus pandemic. At the moment, the increase in organic products of domestic origin is progressing at a rather slow pace. Such a prospect can be realized only with the effective support of the state for farmers and private farms, as well as the adoption of a regulatory framework for the development of organic products. Abstract:
Human-induced water nutrient enrichment, termed "cultural eutrophication", spurs algae proliferation. This study proposes removing excess cyanobacterial biomass, or blue-green algae, for biofuel production. The resultant digestate serves as organic and mineral fertilizer. Investigating bio-methanogenesis, the study examines reactions for biogas production from BGA, analyzing its chemical and physical properties. This eco-friendly approach, utilizing excess organic matter from algal blooms, ensures sustainable resource utilization. The viability of utilizing cyanobacterial biomass underscores i

Abstract:
The purpose of this publication is to summarize the state of knowledge on the effects of environmental variability and climate change for individual species and stocks based on literature review, giving species-climate information for 32 key taxa in Swedish marine and coastal waters. The report is written in English. The extent and scale of recent changes in climate due to global warming is unprecedented and causes increasing effects on ecosystems. In oceans, ongoing warming leads to, for example, increased water temperatures, decreased ice cover and effects on hydrology and water circulation

Wild pigs significantly impact wetlands, yet a standardized method for quantifying and valuing this damage is lacking. This research aims to develop a user-friendly ecological-economic framework for rapid assessment of wild pig damage on wetlands, building on a pilot study conducted at Lake Somerville, Texas, in FY21. The FY22 project advanced methods to value the lost benefits provided by wetlands due to wild pigs and identified methods to adapt and refine the framework for broader application. Additionally, a 65% reduction in wild pig population was achieved by Texas Wildlife Services person

Abstract:
The increased spread and presence of feral swine on sensitive natural resources landscapes like wetlands has become a considerable concern on lands managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. In August 2021 a pilot study was carried out at Somerville Lake, Texas, as the first step in a three-year research plan to develop an ecological-economic framework for feral swine damage assessments (FSDA) and valuation. The study sought to quantify and value soil disturbance caused by feral swine trampling, rooting, and wallowing on wetland soils. The primary objective—to develop and test a rapid FSDA pro

Expanding world hunger calls for increasing available food resources. Ruminants have the remarkable ability to convert human-indigestible plant biomass into human-digestible food products, due to a complex microbiome residing in the rumen compartment of their upper digestive tract. One way to tackle the problem of diminishing food resources is to increase the animals' energetic efficiency, i.e., the efficiency with which they convert energy from feed, thereby increasing food availability while lowering the environmental burden, as these animals would produce more and eat less. Over 90% of US adolescents own a smartphone. Adolescents commonly use smartphones to communicate through apps such as Snapchat and Instagram. Considering the rise in technology use and depressive symptoms amongst adolescents, communication patterns can provide insight into the communication habits of depressed adolescents. Prior research suggests that the effects of digital technology use on adolescents’ well-being differ based on the type of use and frequency of communication. We examined how adolescents with elevated depressive symptoms use smartphones to communicate, including apps, modalit

Reaching the goals of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework requires commitment at all political levels and in all sectors. The State of Saxony also has to contribute its share. Saxony has a great potential, but also faces particular challenges. Almost half of the land area is used for agriculture, mainly for arable farming. However, only around eight percent of the land is farmed ecologically4. Intensification and monotonization of agriculture, as well as the use of pesticides and fertilizers, significantly contribute to the loss of biodiversity. Agriculture plays a crucial role

The general objective of this study was to develop rationally designed mimetic antagonists (and agonists) of the PK/PBAN Np class with enhanced bio-stability and bioavailability as prototypes for effective and environmentally friendly pest insect management agents. The PK/PBAN family is a multifunctional group of Nps that mediates key functions in insects (sex pheromone biosynthesis, cuticular melanization, myotropic activity, diapause and pupal development) and is, therefore, of high scientific and applied interest. The objectives of the current study were: (i) to identify an antagonist bioph
