Abstract:
This research is aimed at showing urban society fosucing on the social aspects taking place at Bantaran Kali. The social aspects cover economic, political, econimic, religious, criminal and cultural aspects prevailing in the urban society at Bantaran Kali reflected in Roanne Van Voorst’s novel, Tempat Terbaik di Dunia. This research was conducted by using the sociology of literature approach, and the data analysis technique used in this study was genetic structuralism methods. The research results shows that the economic aspects focusing on the conditions of the people who glorify those who have Portofon, and those of the poor at Bantaran Kali were clearly reflected in chapters 1 and 2. Then in chapters 2 and 3, the story of the government's ignorance of the Bantaran people was vividly exposed. In these chapters, the thick political aspects which ultimately cause disasters and harm to other communities were illustrated in detail manners. In chapter 4, the economic aspects and poverty were again the most reflected aspects of the whole chapters, where the people of Bantaran Kali must accept the unfortunate fate that befalls them. Then, the religious aspect was described in chapter 5, and the criminal aspects taking place at Bantaran Kali were clearly reflected in chapter 6. The cultural aspect was illustrated in in chapter 7.

Abstract:
Strengthening of productive wakaf livestock management on Himmatun ayat foundation in the form of goat farming which originally amounted to 31 tail to 80 tails and 2 cattle, given the geographical condition of the cracked city that the land is limestone, the main problem is the availability of feed. Because the managers are orphaned students themselves then the initial get goat grant, a lot of goats are dead. The problem is quite serious is during the rainy season lack of supply of animal feed. In the dry season orphaned santri living herding goats in rain-fed rice fields that are not cultivated because it is a rain-fed rice field. Goat and cattle feed in the rainy season is a fermentation of mixed kale leaves, bran and yeast. So there is a symbiosis of mutualism in which the survival of orphaned santri is dependent on the productive grant of goats as well as vice versa. Some potentials that can be empowered to benefit from the social, economic and environmental aspects (1) It is necessary to analyze the feasibility level of goat farm management, especially the fulfillment of animal feed for productive grants, so that the farm will continue to grow so that the boarding school can be independent from the aspect of fulfilling the needs of the orphans living in the pesantren. (2) The need for fermented animal wakaf fermentation training for orphan students so as to create the fulfillment of animal wakaf feed throughout the year. (3) The need for assistance in the management of endowment grants productive goat farming, especially aspects of marketing and human resources aspects so that it will form the spirit of entrepreneurship orphan students to independently manage wakaf productive grant goat and cattle farms.

Abstract:
These cities are change by the development scheme compelled by various economic, politic and cultural interests in central and local relations. In the last decades, the dominant condition of physical aspect-oriented development does not change as well. In some aspects, the scale is getting larger and more massive with decentralization interest. The delegated authority in policy framework gives the local government the foundation of accelerating the change through some autonomous scheme, in which the most dominant orientation among all of those attempts is the city transforming with economic-political reasoning. On the other hand, decentralization also gives the citizens the opportunity of being the part of transformation scheme designed by government. Participation Space allows for the involvement in various policies that will be undertaken in collective contestation in public domain. This article narrates how the urban development scale changes the urban spaces and impacts on the urban ecology, namely river. Narration of river transformation in the last decade is that the river transforms due to many factors and it can be seen from both physical and non-physical transformation. The existing development orientation marginalizes the river and at the same time river assumes the development burden. The crucial point of participation idea is inseparable as well from the relationship between city, river, and citizens staying living in urban kampong daily. The growing response of community is interesting to be studied as the part of understanding the urban physical transformation on the one hand and citizen’s social dynamics on the other hand. Decribing Surakarta and Cities provides the construction of community interest relation complexity and the reinterpretation of river as the part of city. The dynamics of urban kampong in river area can represent the contestation of values, interests and social relations in urban context. Keyword: City, Kampong, River, Community, Participation

Abstract:
Basic understanding of fisheries management related to biology, social, technology and economic function of fish resources. Fish stocks, ecosystem and fishers community are the integrated component under the dynamic of fisheries system, where as changing and on fishing tactic and strategy still exist to adjust between biology, technics and economics aspects. It is obvious that all technological creeps oftenly ignored the bio-ecological consideration of fish resources. The fisheries management and its policy were gradually shifting from maximize the catch, job opportunity become conservation and ecosystem based fisheries management. The concept of community-based management and co management is still limited to the management of conservation areas and coral reef habitats. The existence of gaps and differences between the interests of the conservation area as a result of a lack of understanding collective to the management objectives and often causing fishing activities as part of the economic needs clash with the function of conservation areas in the long term. Control efforts to capture and understand the dynamics of fisheries, as well as managing fishing is a priority for the management of fish resources, while the concept of community-based management and co management issued as a supplement to cover the weakness of legal aspects of the fishery management area or fishery resource.

Abstract:
The main problems and obstacles faced by water spinach farmers in the Lingsar area are the limited knowledge of farmers in recognizing vegetable market behavior so that farmers rely heavily on traders or collectors in the Lingsar area, inefficient marketing, and skills to develop kale vegetable products into products. Processed products that have a longer shelf life, have economic value, and have quality and properties as food supplements are not yet known by the farming community in the Lingsar area, even though the ingredients of kale are a source of vegetable protein and fiber which are beneficial for body metabolism. This service activity aims to increase understanding of kale farmers in the processed products of kale into kale noodles. This service activity has been carried out for 1 month. The methods of this service include: delivery of material, direct training and practice. Delivery of material about the introduction of chemical composition, nutritional content and functional food elements (added value) in kale. Training and hands-on practice in making kale noodles as an innovative product of kale vegetables to train the skills of kale farmers in Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency. Based on the evaluation results after the training, it showed that most of the participants gained new understanding and knowledge about making noodles, especially the addition of water spinach as an added ingredient in vegetable protein. So, it can be concluded that training in making kale noodles can increase understanding of kale farmers in processing kale products.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Leading theme in this master’s thesis is adaptation and preparation to ever changing requirements of skills and knowledge in the working life. These changes of requirements in the working life are implied by the changes in the occupational structure in Finland that is presented in the thesis. The data used in thesis to show the changes in the occupational structure in Finland Finnish Longitudinal Employer-Employee Data, FLEED, which is gathered by Statistics Finland and it shows changes in occupational structure of Finland between years 1995 and 2007. Education is considered in this thesis so that its object is to prepare children and future generations for working life with suitable skills and knowledge. The variety of other, equally important, objects that education has and possibly contradictions as well as problems that might arise in the course of achieving all the objects is beyond of this study. Changing occupational structure arises a question that how education prepares itself to the unknown changes? To answer the question asked, I will introduce Economics of education and Educational planning and how these two relate to each other, especially how economics of education has affected education and educational planning. Therefore I will first take historical review of the economics of education and introduce two main theories; human capital theory and screening theory. The main difference of these two will be explained and also what kind of difference it would make to education if either one could be proved right. It would also have an effect on how education should be arranged in the society. Educational planning has had, in its course, different approaches to analyze and predict future. I will review those approaches; also these approaches have been influenced by economics of education. In the last part of the thesis I bring up studies in Finland has tried to prepare and project changing work life. Also I discuss about can education bring something new to economics of education
Tämän Pro gradu-tutkielman johtava teema on mukautuminen ja valmistautuminen muuttuviin vaatimuksiin tiedoista ja taidoista työelämässä. Ammattirakenteen muutos Suomessa viittaa siihen että vaatimukset erilaisille tiedoille ja taidoille työelämässä on tapahtumassa. Aineisto ammattirakenteen muutoksesta on Tilastokeskuksen yhdistetty työntekijä-työnantaja-aineisto (Finnish Longitudinal Employer-Employee Data FLEED). Koulutussuunnittelussa on käytetty monenlaisia analysointivälineitä tulevaisuuden ennakoimiseksi.

Abstract:
Thesis (M.Dev.) --University of Limpopo, 2009
Food insecurity is one of the most important development challenges in Ethiopia. To reduce food insecurity, the current government has adopted various policies. Amongst policies employed by the government are, namely: Agricultural Development Led Industrialization (ADLI) of 1995, which focus on national level; and the Food Security Strategy (FSS) which gives emphasis to household food security. As partner in development process, the Kale Heywet Church Development Program (KHCDP) has been implementing development projects in Southern Ethiopia to improve household food security. In this study, an attempt is made to assess the role of Kale KHCDP on household food security in southern Ethiopia. The study used both quantitative and qualitative methods to collect data from 109 sample households in Baso and Kuto Peasant Associations (PAs) of the Kucha District in Southern Ethiopia. More specifically, household questionnaire, focus groups, and individual or key informant interviews were applied to gather primary data from the field. The study also used secondary sources to review relevant information. The study found that KHCDP has played a critical role in promoting household food security by implementing different strategies to increase food production and income. The study, however, pointed out that KHCDP household food security strategies are weak in terms of creating access to inputs and technologies; promoting water resource utilizations; and providing extension and follow-up support. The study also identified low level of household participation and risks in long-term sustainability of food security interventions. Therefore, this study suggests that KHCDP needs to review its strategies and extension approaches.

Abstract:
To ensure that the resources of the health care sector are used effectively, new technologies need to be evaluated before implementation to examine if they generate health outcomes at an acceptable cost. This information can be collected by performing health economic evaluations in which the costs and health outcomes of different technologies are compared. To estimate the effect on health care budgets, there is also a need for information about the prevalence of the specific disease. Health outcomes in health economic evaluations are often measured in quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), which are calculated by multiplying the remaining life years after an intervention by a weight representing the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) during those years. This thesis aims to provide deeper knowledge of the health economic aspects of diabetic retinopathy (DR), an eye complication that affects patients with diabetes and may in the worst case lead to blindness. The focus is on three empirical and two methodological health economic research questions. The empirical research areas cover prevalence, costs, and HRQoL related to patients with DR. The methodological research questions explore the performance of different methods for estimation of QALY weights. This is of interest since it has been argued that the most common methods for estimating QALY weights may not capture all relevant vision-related aspects of quality of life. The analyses comprehend the validity of different methods for estimating QALY weights among patients with DR and if the results of one of the specific methods for estimating QALY weights, the time trade-off (TTO) exercise, are affected by patients’ subjective life expectancy (SLE). The empirical results demonstrate that DR is seen in approximately 40% and 30% of patients with type I and type II diabetes respectively, indicating that the prevalence of DR has decreased in both of these patient groups. Healthcare costs vary considerably between different severity levels of the disease, being estimated at €26, €257, €216, and €433 per patient per year for background retinopathy, proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR), diabetic macular oedema (DMO), and PDR combined with DMO respectively. Blindness due to DR is associated with an increased use of transportation services, caregiving services, and assistive technologies as well as productivity losses. This suggests that preventing the progression of DR may lower healthcare costs. Patients with vision impairment due to DR have lowered HRQoL in various dimensions, but the diagnosis of DR in itself has only a limited effect on HRQoL. The results on the methodological research questions show that different methods for estimating QALY weights seem to give different results. In comparison to EQ-5D, the Health Utilities Index Mark 3 (HUI-3) is the most sensitive method for detecting differences in QALY weights due to DR, and if decisions are to be made based on values from the general public, it can be recommended for use in cost-utility analyses of interventions directed at DR. Neither of the direct methods, TTO and the visual analogue scale, seems to be sensitive to differences in visual function, and more research is needed concerning the role of vision in people’s responses to the TTO exercises. In TTO exercises with time frames based on actuarial life expectancy, the patients’ SLE has an effect on their willingness to trade off years for full health. Thus, applying time frames deviating from patients’ SLE may result in biased QALY weights. Such bias may appear stronger within patient populations than within the general public. In conclusion, this thesis offers estimates for prevalence, costs, and QALY weights that can be used in economic evaluations of interventions directed at DR and as benchmarks for future DR research in order to follow up consequences of changes in diabetes care. In addition, it demonstrates that the choice of method for estimating QALY weights may have an impact on whether an intervention is considered cost-effective.

Abstract:
In connection with the innovations, the existing problems of the safety of water transport are aggravated. Attention is drawn to the fact that the existing water transport safety system does not take into account geographical, technological and sectoral factors. The implementation of the concept of transport security in water transport raises many questions that determine the existence of the industry.
