The following paper assesses a statistical relationship between Economic Inequality and Voting Participation among a sizable amount of nations across the world representing all continents. With an deductive approach, three theoretical standpoints of interest are presented: one that describes a negative, another inconclusive, and one with a positive relationship between the variables of interest. Through panel data analysis the study finds support in favour of a negative relationship in that as economic inequality rises, voting participation in parliamentary elections decreases.

This work tries to investigate the relationship between the distribution of wealth and economic growth. The analysis starts from a review of the most impor- tant contributions of the wide literature on the topic, with the aim of presenting them under a common theoretical framework. The results, in line with some re- cent literature, show that, both on the theoretical and empirical point of view, under some initial conditions, an increase in inequality has a positive effect on subsequent growth; this findings are also confirmed by an empirical analysis of the case of United States.

The effect of income inequality has been controversial issue for decades, which researchers have concluded conflicting results. Many researchers have found that income inequality is conducive on economic growth, while others found harmful effect. Hence, this paper investigates the impact of income inequality on economic growth by using the cross sectional analysis. This dissertation explores intergenerational mobility and inequality in the early twentieth century. The first chapter asks whether economic downturns increase or decrease mobility. I estimate the effect of the Great Depression on mobility, linking a sample of fathers before the Depression to their sons in 1940. I find that the Great Depression lowered intergenerational mobility for sons growing up in cities hit by large downturns.
