The main factors affecting the stability of the food system are identified, including climate risks, logistical issues, military conflicts, and economic challenges. The role of Ukraine in global food supply and the impact of war on this sector are outlined. The dynamics of Ukraine's position in global food security rankings are analyzed, and possible solutions to the crisis are considered through innovations, international partnerships, and the development of the agricultural sector.

Abstract:
Veterans could comprise up to a quarter of Ukraine’s workforce by the end of the war. As Ukraine rebuilds, veterans’ economic reintegration is essential for national recovery and long-term resilience. This FBA policy brief examines key labour market challenges veterans face, including unemployment, skills mismatches, and financial insecurity, and outlines how Ukraine’s reconstruction can benefit from their inclusion. To address these challenges, the brief recommends aligning (re)training programmes with market needs - particularly in infrastructure, defence technologies, and agriculture - enha

In 2023, Indonesia experienced economic recovery amidst challenges posed by the uncertain global economic slowdown. This is attributed to various factors such as the Russia-Ukraine war, high inflation, and supply chain disruptions. According to the latest report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), global economic growth in 2023 is projected to reach only 3.6%, own from the previous projection of 3.7%. This figure is lower than the global economic growth in 2022, which reached 6.1%. One of the primary factors causing the global economic slowdown is the Russia-Ukraine war. This war has l

Just as Caribbean economies are emerging from the sharp recessions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, a confluence of external shocks now complicates the recovery. Commodity prices started rising in late 2021, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in late February of this year disrupted supplies and led to further price increases. The macroeconomic effects are varied across the Caribbean, depending on each country's trade specialization. However, households across the region are feeling the impact on their purchasing power. In addition, the normalization of monetary policy in global financia

Economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean was stronger than expected in 2021 but waned at the start of 2022. High commodity prices due to the war between Russia and Ukraine will provide a boost to exporters, while imposing significant costs on commodity importers and pushing up inflation across countries. The ongoing conflict, together with policy normalization in advanced economies, carries significant risks for the region. Volatility in financial markets could depress investment and bring down growth further. Policymakers need to take urgent measures to boost inclusive growth. As mi

The COVID 19 pandemic followed by the invasion of Ukraine is a two-punch economic strike never seen in recent history. The pandemic not only disrupted many aspects of a tightly knit integrated world but also exposed its fragility. The devastation of Ukraine and the vast program of sanctions quickly imposed by most major developed countries have accelerated the retreat of globalization. For many decades, Central Bankers and economists considered stable prices as an almost permanent feature. Today, the consumer price index in the US hit a 40-year high at more than 8 per cent and experts were una
