Full textThrough the case of Economic and Social Sciences, at the secondary level, this research examines the construction process of teaching contents and their evolution, using a sociological approach to the curricula. This action of construction is fixed in social and cognitive processes in both anterior and lateral that impacts the selection and hierarchical organization of knowledge within a formal curriculum. This action is conducted by a "social base": secondary school teachers organized in association, employer association, expert group, associations of higher education teachers, and producers of secondary education policies. These different groups, both inside and outside of educational field, official and unofficial, come in relation within the "public space". It becomes a social "arena" where manifest conflicts of interest and power issues. The internal structuring of formal curriculum brought out these social negotiations and political decisions for the selection and organization of knowledge. The findings are based on a qualitative analysis crossing data, included are interviews with experts produced formal curriculum, official documents and assessment reports in addition to programs of secondary level and Economic and Social Sciences. The analysis reveals the transformations that occur in both formal curriculum of Economic and Social Sciences and in their production process. The different forms of knowledge are more projected from academic and professional fields. As for the process of formal curriculum production is the subject itself of a "test negotiation" among social groups for the recognition of their expertise

Full textFor more than twenty years, the history of physical education in France has been the topic of a large amount of research work. Although these studies are based on both historical and sociological facts, they nevertheless often overlook a most important period in French history, namely the Fifth Republic moreover, the very few authors who have actually dealt with this period have failed to take into account the political dimension of the recent past of physical education. In the present research work, we have endeavoured to analyse and shed a new light on the lesser known aspects of the history of physical education between 1958 and 1997, i. E. : the goals and will of the various governments, the strategies adopted by teachers' professional organizations, the decisions that were reached to balance the contradictory interests and opinions which confront each other within the world of physical education. We have their laid the stress on the major part played by French minister of sports Maurice Herzog between 1958 and 1966 in the dramatic increase of the means granted to this discipline and the changes in its contents. We have also highlighted the impending threats on the very existence of physical education between 1967 and 1980 on account of government policy and the conflicts it entailed. Last but not least, we have related the various stages of the gradual integration of physical education into the structures of the ministry of national education. In this research work, we have mainly relied on documentary administrative and political sources provided by the national archives, on union press and on various testimonies from people involved in the history of physical education at the time. We have attempted to prove that the conceptual evolution and institutional implanting of physical education in the ministry of education was as much, if not more, due to essentially political analyses and decisions as to evolving ideas and changing attitudes

From 1896, professors are formed with a special exam. They reexamine without any conformism all liberal orthodoxy and just became real professionels. 3) but 1930 crisis spoils their prestige. Full textThe attitude and behavior of social actors, teachers and students alike, emanate from an existing cultural environment. The origins of these attitudes and behaviors embody the integration of cultural codes and social value systems of the society in question. In examining korean society, the following two observations need be considered. Korean civilization - established on the ancient social values and philosophies of confucianism in which the thought structures and the conception of language denigrates the spoken word exerts a profound influence on the study and practice of language by korean pupils and scholars. Korean foreign language teachers therefore face severe challenges due to two contradictory issues: on one hand the country's traditional confucian ideology, which deemphasizes the oral aspects of language, and on the other hand the utilitarianism of language in our modem times, where oral communication is of critical importance. This dilemma calls for a profound reevaluation of language teaching. In view of this predicament of cultural origin and students belonging to societies said to be affective, only the education of korean pupils with a long-term, multidimensional curriculum would denote an effective teaching program of foreign languages and cultures. Furthermore, this undertaking should be supported by an analogous evolution within the entire educational and socio-cultural value system of the country

Full textThe impressive, rapid development of the teaching of French in the Korean secondary and tertiary sectors during the last twenty years can be explained by reference to two complementary factors ; on the one hand, the Confucian ethic which imposes on each individual the moral duty to improve his educational level, and on the other, the undeniable influence of the Korean economic miracle. These factors have had centripetal repercussions on related fields such as the teaching of French. Nevertheless, the quality of French education in Korea has suffered acutely from the essentially pragmatic attitude which has resulted from the determined policy of koreanising foreign contributions to the national culture, a policy imposed by the military which has held power without interruption since 1961. Moreover, the fact that the development of the teaching of French has been quantitative rather than qualitative, can be attributed firstly, to the chronic inadequacy of the pedagogical training given to teachers at all levels of their French studies, and secondly, to the size of the classes which never have fewer than 50 60 students. A further aggravating factor is the fact that study at the secondary level are oriented towards the multiple choice university entrance examination. The above considerations have led to the conclusion that the teaching of French in Korea have done nothing to improve Franco Korean relations which continue to exhibit a lack of mutual understanding

Full textThe pedagogical transmission of the nazi past in Germany is analysed in four schools in Hamburg and Leipzig. Formes of reappropriation and uses of the past by two generations of teachers - the "1968 generation" and the "GDR generation - and by their students are analysed. The thesis is based on 137 interviews and more than two years of classroom observation of history lessons. Significations and functions of the nazi past vary according to spaces, moments and men (classrooms, schoolyard, peer groups, home). But social frameworks also influence and/or direct uses of the past : the socialisation of teachers and students, generational belonging, gender and group dynamics, social class, political engagement, east-west oppositions. This research analyses situations and dispositions in order to try and understand multiple uses of the past. The research within schools and that within families allows to think the twofold influence of these social institutions on the adolescents

Full textTo understand and explain the malaise that exists regarding the teaching of poetry in high schools, the thesis goes back to the Rapport Parent (1963–1966), a seminal document that forms the basis of modern Quebec school, and to the creation of the Ministère de l'Éducation du Québec (1964) to follow, through the documents, the history of high school poetry teaching of the last 50 years. This period is divided in three main parts : a revolution in education marked by the publication of the Rapport Parent and two programs; the return to basics initiated by L'école québécoise with two programs and two series of textbooks; the reform based on L'école, tout un programme of which the programs and textbooks are currently in use. Through these three types of documents, guidance documents, curricula and textbooks, that we will recall the evolution of poetry teaching in High School in relation to the main trends that marked education and French teaching in Quebec since the 1960s. Poetry teaching cannot be separated from the context within which it is made. This context includes many facets some of which internal and others, external. In this thesis, external facets consist of the vision of culture and teaching as well as the importance given to the literature and poetry. The concept of culture evolved quite a lot in the last 50 years. The Rapport Parent abandoned the traditional notion of culture for a larger one that includes all human activities. This interpretation, although nuanced and updated, will remain the standard. Literature which held a predominant position in traditional culture thus loses its influence. Its importance, despite still being valued in some spheres, will diminish until it becomes a simple tool in teaching language techniques and types of texts. The evolution of education will transform the traditional classroom well ordered under the master's authority in a place where the student is allowed to build his own knowledge. Elements that are directly linked to poetry teaching include curricula, textbooks, the teaching of reading and writing and the work done by both teacher and student. Programs will go through important modifications. 1969 framework program marks the end of literature oriented curricula. Since then, the programs only real goal is to perfect the comprehension of the technical aspects of language. 1980's program sees the end of literary genres as the basis of the teaching of texts in favour of the discourse notion. As poetic discourse is not mentioned, poetry struggles to find its place. 1995 and reform programs focus on the types of texts instead of discourse, but poetry is not part of this typology. The place of poetry in reading and writing varies through the years. Equal to other types of texts in the framework program, it only appears in the 1980's program for reading. Following programs will give it a place in writing. Since 1980, it is mainly a marginal genre which is simply used to illustrate useful notions for discourse or types of text in the program. The teacher/student relationship changed enormously during this period. From master, the teacher became a guide and mediator. The student follows the opposite path : from a passive receiver, he becomes responsible for building his own knowledge. Because of the small place of poetry in the programs and the fact that it is not part of the official typology of texts in the programs, the teacher has to rely only on his own knowledge of poetry to ensure a viable teaching. Textbooks accompany the programs with the exception of the framework program. Since 1980, the French-language textbooks aim toward self-learning because they address the student directly. They present themselves as class preparations that the student simply has to follow to acquire the knowledge required by the program. The place they give to poetry in reading and writing varies depending on the period and the textbook.

Full textThe « Association des professeurs de mathématiques de l'enseignement public », that is to say the state schools mathematics teacher association is a corporate body created in 1910 and made of Secondary education teachers i. E. , teachers who teach ailleveis from Year 7 groups to the preparation in mathematics and physics for the competitive entrance examination to French Engineering Schools. It was initially created to support the 1902 reform which was questioned by political power and it also acted as a union labour which was forbidden for civil servants in the inter wars years. In the meantime, it developed scientific and pedagogical communication between its members. In 1925, it fought against the implementation of the so-called scientific equality and gradually became the Mathematics teachers' official organisation in relation with the Ministry. After World War 2, the association played a part in the modifications which both the curriculum and teaching methods underwent, especially as regards the introduction of modern mathematics. It daims the creation of the « Instituts de recherches sur l'enseignement des mathématiques» (IREM). This PHD focuses on the study of some 300 notices, edited by the-Association since its creation, showing the evolution of the teaching of Mathematics in secondary schools between 1910 and 1975. To start with this PHD probes into the political ideology the association had in its early days. Then, it studies the •scientific and pedagogical stand which rose in the 1920s, both on the national and international level. Finally, it deals with 4 of the famous personalities which contributed to the introduction of modem mathematics from the end of World War 2 to the 1970s

Full textThis thesis focuses on representations of human rights in Syrian religious textbooks. It analyzes the Islamic perception of human rights, particularly with regard to their secular origin. It also analyzes the role of religious education in the conception and promotion of fundamental freedoms, and the difficulties brought about by the conflict with issues of the political, philosophical, legal and theological order. To achieve this, there implemented a comparative approach to international instruments on human rights, specifically The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and Islamic conventions on the one hand, and the work carried out by the school of reform of Islamic thought on the other. Taking into account the fact that the content of textbooks is part of a time frame, it is important to discuss the somewhat paradoxical position of these structures in a religious education that is organized by a secular state. It appears that in spite of the existence of Islamic doctrines developed in accordance with the spirit of the UDHR insofar as these doctrines suggest a rereading of texts that are the subject of controversy, textbooks remain faithful to a traditional, not to say archaic, thinking. The most recent textbooks have not made any significant progress in this area, but are instead subject to the yoke of what proved to be more of an autocratic regime. To better integrate and enforce human rights, religious education in Syria faces several challenges, including the development of effective citizenship, respect for the heterogeneity of society and redefinition of the State

Starting from the 2006 controversy about the History and Citizenship Education program at the senior high school level, this thesis focuses on the aims and issues associated with teaching the history of Quebec. More specifically, we examine the sources of the controversies surrounding the reforms of Quebec's high school history programs from the creation of the Parent Commission (1961) until the creation of the Beauchemin-Fahmy-Eid Committee (2013); by focusing on three main steps: consultation, program development, and feedback and/or evaluation. Our analysis is based on eighteen interviews with key stakeholders, public and private records, public consultation briefs, government documents and newspaper articles. To analyze this corpus, we applied a model to identify the main issues at the heart of the 2006 controversy, each at the center of a confrontation between two global or sectoral standards. This model, as well as analytical frameworks for observing the political game surrounding program development, falls within the field of cognitive and neo-institutionalist approaches to educational policy analysis. Lastly, our results suggest that while some of the controversies surrounding the reforms of Quebec's high school history programs are caused by a gap between the standards required by stakeholders in this field and the repositories that underlie official documents, some derive from more organizational, structural, professional and material problems, such as the compulsory nature of the program or the number of hours devoted to its teaching. This leads us ultimately to a reflection on the source of the changes of frames of reference in our society. Full textOver the last fifty years, the French university economics field has been characterized by the existence of critical economics (from the early 1960's to the early 2010's). The identification of the conditions of possibility of the institutionalization and then the decline of critical economics while the autonomization of this discipline is growing is the main issue being tackled through this piece of work. The enquiry enables to reveal the importance of the séminaire Aftalion, source of the formation of the disciplinary habitus for numerous critical economists trained during the 1960's and the early 1970's. Their project, both academic and political, has been carried on at the University of Picardie. The evolution of the discipline within this institution, through the study of its laboratories, its faculty and its teaching allows us to highlight the inner struggles of critical economists, which were at the same time epistemological, political and statutory. The disciplinary institutionalization of the two sides which competed in the 1970's, after the original contradiction faded away, has gradually given birth to a conflict which built the local disciplinary functioning. The institution had to resist the university transformation process before conforming with the standards and injunctions of the national and international universityeconomics. Some seem to take advantage of these transformations, as shown by the study of neuroeconomics. The history of economics teaching in the national university field over the whole period shows at the same time a double process of academization of the useful disciplines and the professionalization of the scholarly disciplines. Simultaneously, the schoolization of universities and the universitarization of schools can be seen. This double movement, shown here with the example of economics and management, as well as the research and teaching evaluation quantification might dictate a major trend in the social sciences field

Full textThe purpose of this paper is to establish the Laval University Master graduates in economic’s earnings profile and calculate the returns associated with this diploma. The methodology used is identical to that used by Vaillancourt et Ebrahimi (2010) and Stark (2007). It combines the cost-benefit analysis of Becker (1960) and analysis by estimating the Mincer (1974) econometric model . We have calculated the return of master over the Bachelor in Economic firstly for the individual and then for the society. The calculation was first made generally and then by gender and type of employer of graduates. The database we use comes from the survey conducted in 2014 among graduates of the Economics Department by the Laval University placement service(SPLA) in collaboration with the department of economics. Our results show that the major employer of graduates of the department is the public sector including the federal public service, the provincial public service, the municipal public service, teaching. The majority of the graduates is male. The income of men is still higher than that of women and income of private sector workers are higher than those in public workers. Furthermore, the results suggest that the investment for the passage from bachelor to master is profitable both for the individual and for society. Indeed, the average private return is 5:3% and the average social return is 3:7%. The private return for males is 5:3% and women is 5:4%. The private return of private sector workers is 5:3% and that of public sector workers is 5:4%. The results corresponding to social performance are 3:7%, 3:5%, 3:8% and 3:6%, respectively, for men, women, workers in the private and public workers. We note as well as the social return is usually less than the private return, the private return of women exceeds that of men and the private performance in the public sector is larger than private. But the differences both between the sexes and the type of employer are of low magnitude. The qualitative conclusions we draw are going in the same direction as those of Vaillancourt et Ebrahimi (2010) and Stark (2007).

Full textEver since ancient times, civilizations have passed on the flame of knowledge and modernity. Ideas and knowledge circulate among communities by means of language. Today, the English language is the lingua franca in several communities. But the diversity of language enriches experience and inventions and also conveys world visions and different points of view. The contact of language imposes the situation of dominant language and dominated language, hence problems of identity claims and of social-economic tensions. This research defines the status and the role of the Arabic language, the official language and identity of the CCG countries, where there is an important foreing population. It also analyses the causes of identity claims of Arab populations in a social-economic and international context and describes the facts, that have favored the domination of the English language in a context of cultural Arab tradition. The different situations of teaching/learming have made it possible to use various educational manuals, different methods and have confronted me with a wide variety of didactic, pedagogic, linguistic and cultural difficulties

In the following decades, economists, psychologists and behavioral scientists have first debated the existence of money illusion, and then proceeded to refine and expand its definition. This thesis builds on the precedent research regarding money illusion, with the aim to evidence, using experimental methods, the characteristics that explain the occurrence of money illusion on an individual level, as well as the factors that may help diminish the occurrence thereof. The present thesis first summarizes the evolution of the concept of money illusion from Fisher's discovery to the last progresses made in behavioral sciences on this topic. It then shows the results of three separate experiments that were conducted in order to evidence several factors that we hypothesized as being either contributing to, or diminishing, money illusion. The first one examines the relationship between money illusion, financial literacy and numeracy; the second one focuses particularly on numeracy and numerical abilities in general as a way to overcome money illusion; and the third one on whether time perspectives may explain and/or mitigate money illusion
Aza, Ondine. "Enjeux et défis de la trajectoire de développement de deux petits États insulaires anglophones : étude comparée de Maurice et de Trinidad des origines à l’ère de l’économie de la connaissance." Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017USPCA021/document.
Full textAt a time when economic growth is thought to be driven primarily by knowledge, the purpose of this research is to analyse to what extent two Small Island Developing States – Mauritius and Trinidad – are adequately equipped for this new economic context. As former British colonies, they both joined the Commonwealth upon gaining independence in the nineteen-sixties and they have since largely succeeded in overcoming their initially unfavourable conditions. Today, their good political, economic and social development is widely acknowledged. The main focus of this research is to evaluate how far colonial legacy, which is still visible in the contemporary institutions of both these states, can favour the transition they wish to undertake towards knowledge-intensive activities as drivers of economic growth. For this purpose, the research analyses the development trajectory followed by their institutions and their economy spanning the whole period of their colonial and post-independence history; additionally, this research considers the steps which are undertaken nowadays to build the framework required to foster a knowledge economy by studying more specifically the role of higher education as an essential tool for human capital formation. While upholding that some of the assets which could help them achieve their objectives can be linked to their colonial past, the research contends that the transformation of these two countries into knowledge-based economies could be hindered by the legacy of colonisation on some of their current features and which, decades after gaining independence, impedes the widespread diffusion of knowledge amongst their population

Focussing on the case of Francophone-Anglophone intergroup relations in Quebec (Canada), this quantitative study examined the role of social context in second language (L2) classroom learning. Specifically, the relationships between attitudes toward the L2, the L2 community, and language policy and planning on the one hand and L2 proficiency on the other were investigated. As a secondary objective, the role played by students’ relationship with their first language (L1) and L1 community (i.e., ethnolinguistic identity) in the construction of these attitudes was also studied. In total, 121 Francophone and Anglophone high school students responded to a multi-part questionnaire, and their data was analyzed with respect to their scores on provincial L2 tests. Significant relationships between attitudes toward language policy and planning, attitudes toward the L2, and proficiency were confirmed as was the role of ethnolinguistic identity in the construction of these attitudes. However, these findings varied across linguistic groups.

Full textThis study recounts the history of the first official grammatical nomenclature in France, since the first public debates on the necessity of a terminological simplification and unification (from January 1905) to the promulgation of the three official texts that are the decree of the 25th of July 1910 (that fixes the list of the grammatical terms that have to be known in the exams and examinations of both primary and secondary educations) as well as the circular of the 28th of September 1910 and the note of the 21st of March 1911 (that both explain how the decree has to be implemented). The study raises political, theoretical and epistemological issues: the simplification and unification of grammatical nomenclatures encounter the State’s will to improve the command of the national language and to unify education on the entire territory; the elaboration of the nomenclature reveals the problems caused by the analysis of verbal constructions and the complex sentence at the beginning of the 20th century; the reform of the nomenclatures highlights the tension between a terminological ideal and the reality of practices. These issues consistently intersect with didactic questions: on the place of an explicit teaching of grammar in the teaching of language, on the relations that school knowledge has with academic knowledge or furthermore on the limitations imposed by what can be taught
Chebil, Mhiri Myriam. "Spreads obligataires souverains et transmission de la volatilité entre les marchés financiers de la zone euro." Thesis, Paris 10, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016PA100113/document.
Full textThis thesis focuses on explaining the determinants of sovereign bond yield spreads in selected euro area countries during the financial crises of last decade. It examines the impact of those turmoil periods on sovereign bond market dynamics, and on its interactions with stock and CDS markets. GARCH-type models are used to identify determinants explaining spreads of each country, while panel data analyzed within fixed and random effects models, and run on crisis and non-crisis periods, identify whole sample determinants. To assess contagion effect, both MS- VAR and DCC-MVGARCH models are used. Results suggest that global risk and liquidity factors are the significant drivers of the spreads volatility. For the periphery countries in the euro zone, spreads are found to be more responsive to explanatory risk factors than those of the core countries. The role of these factors is also found stronger during the sub-prime and euro area crises. The analyses of the financial markets interactions within the euro area demonstrate the existence of a contagion effect, as well as a “flight to quality” phenomenon
Postolachi, Irina. "Du texte à la scène - Didactique du Français Langue Étrangère par les approches théâtrales en République de Moldavie." Thesis, Paris 3, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020PA030007.
Full textOur thesis, based on the Didactics of Languages and Cultures, explores the potential of theater text as a pedagogical tool in classes of French as a Foreign Language (FFL). In an interdisciplinary cross, we started our thesis project : « From the text to the stage - Didactics of French as a Foreign Language through Theatrical Approaches in the Republic of Moldova », based on excerpts from L’Avare by Molière and in a particularly new perspective of the appropriation of foreign culture, as well as the artistic flourishing of the pupil and the future citizen. It is in this dynamic that we set up as a teaching insertion tool a theater workshop, with a group of learners from two 12th forms that study FFL in one of the high schools from the North of Moldova. The purpose of this work was to present, firstly, a review of the current situation of language teaching in the Republic of Moldova in secondary education, more specifically the status of the French language which has the distinction of being in second position (since its significant decline that began in 2010) behind English, the first foreign language taught in major cities. We also wondered about the roles and place of textbooks in the Moldovan class of FFL. Then, we tried to identify the reasons for the difficulties of the oral production of Moldovan learners in two classes of 12th form studying FFL (their communicative competences being located between levels B1 and B2, according to the CEFRL scale of evaluation), research carried out by means of a survey. The second goal of our research is to reflect on the contributions that theatrical practice can bring to the development of oral expression in French as a foreign language, especially in the management of the difficulties related to the linguistic, psychological and relational insecurity of Moldovan learners that find it difficul to act out while speaking French. We studied the possibility of elaborating from a new didactic perspective, the assessment of the performance of learners in the framework of teaching by skills, based on texts chosen from the French comedy of the seventeenth century : though measuring the profitability of this teaching method, the type and quality of the interaction produced, the satisfaction of the learner and the effectiveness of the teaching. Two initial hypotheses guided our research :1. The verbal passivity of Moldovan learners in the FFL classroom is closely related to their feeling of insecurity in the practice of the language ;2. Theater in the FFL classroom encourages students to produce language in a meaningful situation that allows them to appropriate the language. Theatrical practices develop and promote improvisation and the spontaneous expression of learners. It is also a privileged vehicle for the transmission of socio - cultural elements of language. Our hypotheses were tested through a theatrical experience, thanks to it we managed to analyze the peculiarities of the influence of artistic activities on various elements like body, voice and gestures, but also from a relational point of view. This last element allowed us to observe more closely the role of the teacher, the specific pedagogical preparation that implies, the difficulties (choice of the text, preparation of the theater workshop, time management, the limits inherent to this dynamic and the obstacles that it may encounter), the possible evaluation method for such teaching, the taking into account of the learners' involvement capacities

Full textThe discounted utility theory proposed by Samuelson (1937) is one of the dominant paradigms in economics and management especially in finance where it serves as a basis of the Intertemporal Capital Asset Pricing Model (ICAPM) and its version including consumption (ICCAPM). Despite this place, its validity has a framework to explain individuals time preferences has been questioned in recents researches paving the way for amendments and questionings of this framework. Among others, these reseaches introduce the concept of term structure of psychological discount rate. Therefore, a part from exponential discount rate function, we find in the literature seven alternatives discount rate function : Hernstein, proportional, Laibson, Rachlin, Hyperbolic and generalized hyperbolic.Following this work, we initiated a research to provide an answer to the question on the characteristics and driving factors those explain its heterogeneity at an individual level. Thereafter, its relationship with other dimensions of individual preferences (risk and social interaction behavior) are explored. The purpose is to identify among them, the function that is consistent with the observed time preferences, to estimate the underlying parameters and to study the consistency of individual time preference. This research is based on the data collected by experimental study using eighteen time trade-offs, four lottery trade-offs, a dictator game, an ultimatum game and a trust game.Data analysis confirmed previous results on the violation of the time invariant of the psychological value of time hypothesis and established that the studied population is characterized by an heterogeneity with respect to the form of the term structure of psychological discount rate. Individuals are characterized by an Hernstein, Generalized hyperbolic or Laibson psychological discount rate. We found that demographic, social and temporal orientation have a weak link with the individual differences of the term structure of psychological discount rate. Application (a dimension of personality traits) is the most important driving factor of term structure of psychological discount rate forms heterogeneity. We finally established that there is a weak relationship between the parameters of time, risk and social preferences
