Full textMotivated by the conviction that economics and sociology must combine, our research has two goals. It questions theoretical filiations (or conceptual migrations) between economics and sociology on the one hand ; and analyzes the characteristics of these theoretical filiations on the other hand. Even though the dialogue between economics and sociology has been improving since the1960s, we question whether theoretical filiations between both disciplines are possible ; as well as the nature of the characteristics ? Our research is based on a case study, the theory of action. More specifically, we discuss different objects of this vast theory: the rational choice theory, the field of économie des conventions and the concept of embeddedness. The study reveals that theoretical filiations between economics and sociology are possible, unsystematic and can be considered as « imperfect »

Full textThis thesis reports on theoritical and empirical examination of factors influencing the growth of government expenditures. Indeed, instead of many works about this subject, there is no consensus on the reasons for changes in the size of government. Because of there are various explanations for the growth of government expenditures, we divided these thesis into those affecting demand and those affecting supply. But we show that these groups of theories are complementary. So, against the former model conclusions, we prove that the growth of government expenditures results from the tax-payers-voters demand of collectives goods and services and redistribution and from government supply. So, our work consist in valuating this theories to specify the government expenditures determinants. The empirical results validate the model over the period 1960-1993 for 14 OECD countries. On the demand side, relative prices have a negative effect on the growth of government expenditures while population, income inequality, share of government employees in total employment and strong salaried group in relation to capitalist have a positive effect. On the supply side, price coefficients are significant and negative. The public sector productivity have a positive effect while manufacturing industry productivity have a negative effect

Full textThis dissertation is part of a research agenda which studies optimal mechanismdesign in environments in which the production process, an thus the intensityof the asymmetries of information, is endogenous. It consists of three papers, each which studies the effect of ex-ante mechanism choices on the ex-postintensity of the asymmetries of information and its implication in terms ofoptimal mechanisms. The first paper studies the optimal procurement in an environment inwhich agents make investment decisions that allow them to produce onlyin ex-ante unknown state of the world and has applications in procurementunder technology uncertainty such as the procurement of vaccines. Thesecond paper studies the optimal monitoring policies in an environment inwhich the monitor’s ability to detect misbehavior depends on both her andthe agent’s past investments and has applications in cyber security, drugsmuggling, money laundering tax evasion and doping. Finally, the third paperstudies a production problem in which the agent’s productivity depends onan unobservable resource (or time) allocation and has applications in laboreconomics
