Kerautret, Flavie. "Le phénomène « Bruscambille » : édition, théâtre, actualité." Thesis, Paris 10, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020PA100091.
Full textLiterary history conveys an image of Bruscambille that is linked to the world of farce and mountebanks, and portrays him as a minor author of the early 17th century. However, the extent of the success of his collections of prologues was such that, in the space of a few years, dozens of editions invaded the book market, while very few dramatic works of the time met the same fate. In order to understand the mechanisms of this success and identify what lies behind the name of “Bruscambille”, we propose to approach it as a phenomenon, and not only as an actor or singular author. This supposes to study his renown as the result of an elaboration due to various publishing operations, which involve various agents who are sometimes difficult to identify. That is how we analyse how “Bruscambille” is the product of a historiographical and editorial construction, composed of different features unified under the name of the author, the aesthetic and socio-economic components of which we then describe. As the prologues are gathered for publication in various booklets (the collection of which then became one of the most important unit in the “Bruscambille” system), their function is modified : cleared of their part as introductory discourses, the prologues can better fulfill a pragmatic role. They program the conditions of representation and socially and symbolically promote theater and its actors. More broadly, they appear as opportune places to discuss and shape various events of the time, through the use of comic and cryptic expression. Starting from the case of Bruscambille, it is the interferences, ever more numerous and complex, between the world of print, the world of theater and the society of the time that can be examined
Virlogeux, Georges. "Édition italienne de la correspondance originale de Massimo d'Azeglio." Lyon 3, 1987. http://www.theses.fr/1987LYO31006.
Full textThe published book, entirely written in italian, is the first volume of massimo d'azeglio's complete correspondence (d'azeglio m. , epistolario, a cura di georges virlogeux, torino, contro studi piemontesi, 1987, vol. I, pp. Lxxxv-533) and countains 345 letters which include the years 1819-1840, i. E. The turin, milan and rome periods of the author's life (1798-1866). Every letter is furnished which its criticus apparatus (philological, descriptive and explanatory notes). A series of indexes (chronological index of the letters, index of the addressees, index of the mentioned works of art, index of places names, index of persons, works and characters names) make easier the use of the book. The introductory chapter relates the story of the partial editions of the correspondence from 1850 to present days and brings out the philological and editing criterious used herein. This research enables to notice that the so-called philological school, which is connected with positivism, on the one hand could not free itself from hagiography which deeply adulterated the published texts, and on the other hand did not hesitate to "improve" and "tuscanize" the author's language, thus depriving it of its originality. The french dactylographied text resumes and complements the italian introduction, elucidating the methodological criterious used for the publishing. Its
Stamatiadou, Isavella. "La métaphysique de Vikentios Damodos : édition critique du texte précédée d'une introduction." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016STRAC039.
Full textThis thesis is devoted to the critical edition of the work Metaphysics or First Philosophy written by Vikentios Damodos at Chavriata in Kefalonia in 1736. This is the first edition (edition princeps) of this work as evidenced by seven manuscripts in different places in Greece and elsewhere. Vikentios Damodos, philosophy teacher, was educated in Italy and has met there important scholars of his time. The result of these meetings appears through his work rich in philosophical and scientific ideas Enlightenment. It becomes a precursor of the Modern Greek Enlightenment. His interest in education, the language, the instruction of the Greeks, occupied at the time by the Venetians and Ottomans, in order to reach the level of the other European nations makes this scholar stand out in Modern Greek history. The edition is preceded by an introduction that attempts to illuminate the significant aspects of its production and its intellectual contribution to the philosophy of contemporary Greece
Thouvenin, Pascale, and Nicolas Fontaine. "Nicolas Fontaine (1625-1709), Mémoires : édition critique d'après le manuscrit original autographe, avec introduction, notes et annexes." Paris 4, 1997. http://www.theses.fr/1997PA040127.
Full textFontaine's memoirs are part of the most important documents we have to understand the religious and literary group of Port-Royal. Fontaine was a "solitaire" and a secretary to the biblist le Maistre de Sacy and Antoine Arnauld. He also participated in the translation and comment of the bible, in the translating works of church fathers, was involved in the controversial history of the port-royal group and gathered a huge collection of original documents: Fontaine is to be considered a unique eye-witness of his time. The only edition available, faulty and distorted, dates back to 1736. The edition of the original manuscript which had remained unpublished provides a new approach with a great number of documents(more than 105 letters), the famous Entretien de Pascal avec M. De Sacy in its authentic version, a text which is restored in its entirely supplied with all the autobiographical developments inaccessible so far. The footnotes provide the reader with helpful information about history, language, bibliographical references and the identification of many hundred quotations. Several indexes, a glossary and unpublished documents are complementary to the text. The writer's itinerary path, the story of the manuscript, the literary antecedents of the memoirs and a study of their own significance are given in an extensive introduction (more than 500 p. ). Within a literary movement deeply rooted in the Augustinian literature, the writer achieves an original work at the end of the century (1695-1700). In an autobiographical perspective whose model is to be found in the confessions by saint Augustine (around 400), he associated all the literary resources he had to use in his contact with the group of port-royal and in is long career as a writer: letter writing, conversation, hagiography, chronicle and personal lyricism. Fontaine's Memoirs whose historical interest is thus renewed and opened to new researches, are to be regarded as a major work in introspective literature
Ribreau, Mickaël. "Le Contra Iulianum de saint Augustin : introduction générale ; édition, traduction et commentaire du livre III." Thesis, Paris 4, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA040239.
Full textThe Contra Iulianum, written between 421 and 422, belongs to the second phase of the pelagian controversy, which opposed Augustine and Julian, bishop of Aeclanum. This thesis is divided into three parts. First of all, in a general introduction to the whole Contra Iulianum, we study the main interests of this text : its theological stakes (the original sin and the marriage), his literary genre, the ways of argumentation, the augustinian heresiology, the posterity of the text and its manuscript tradition. Then, we give a new critical edition of the book III, which emends the Maurists’one (XVIIth), with a french translation with notes. In the last part, the commentary of the book III, we explain the most difficult passages and study the text’s different interests (philological, historical, literary or philosophical)

Full textAt the crossroads of the sociology of culture and postcolonial studies, this dissertation explores the mechanisms by which contemporary writers from Francophone countries of sub-Saharan Africa attain literary recognition. The empirical material comprises archives, interviews with writers, publishers, and cultural agents; ethnographic observations of cultural events; and a statistical survey of 404 writers who were socialized in this part of the world, and who were active between 1983 and 2008. Their legitimation follows two waves: the first occurs in the early eighties and the second in the mid-nineties. The increase in the number of publications, the importance of the novel in the hierarchy of literary genres, and the evolution of the publishing industry combine to structure an African literary space. Its stake is the legitimate definition of the African writer, related to the nature of the writer’s relationship to Africa. The authors located in this space are socially elite and often mobile. From the eighties onwards, the number of new female writers has increased steadily; writers are more professionalized and more often settled outside Africa. Publishers in Paris have played a decisive role in a book market partly dissociated from the markets prevailing in African countries. The analysis of these global evolutions is complemented by case studies: the controversy surrounding the manifesto “Toward a World Literature in French” seen as a collective mobilization; the representation of colonization in the texts of Amadou Hampâté Bâ and Ahmadou Kourouma; and letters from readers
