Abstract:
Notwithstanding journalistic editorials may evidence conflicts and negotiations involving public and private interests, their production process is little investigated in Brazil. The article examines the values and routines typical to the work of Folha de S. Paulo’s editorialists to find out how they construct newspaper’s positions. By applying Content Analysis to three in-depth interviews, we propose four thematic axes regarding the features of journalistic editorials: Political and marketing roles; their target audience; production routines; and editorial values of the newspaper. The results indicate that editorialists exercise limited autonomy, striving to fit the positions historically defended by the publication. Such a condition is seen as natural by the interviewees, with no record of tensions between their individual opinions and newspaper’s positions.

Abstract:
The study "Role of Local Press in Conflict: A Case Study of Editorial' Contents of Daily Chand and Daily Shamal during Militancy in district Swat, Pakistan" is basically a comparison of editorials, being published on the issue of militancy in both the local dailies of Swat to analyze that how these dailies treated government and militants’ agendas in their editorials. This study was conducted by content analysis of editorials of Daily Chand and Daily Shamal, publishing from district Swat while the media hegemony theory was applied as theoretical frame work for conducting the study. Daily Chand had written total 84 editorials on the issue of militancy, it wrote 12 (14 percent) editorials against government but not a single editorial had been written against militants. Besides the daily had given only 06 percent supportive coverage to government agenda by publishing 05 editorials while the paper had, however, given more supportive coverage to militants by publishing 17 editorials in favor of their agenda with 20 percent of its total editorials, being published on the issue of militancy. Similarly daily Shamal had written 61 editorials on issue of militancy and of them only three editorials had been written with percentage of 05 percent in support of government agenda while it published two editorials in favor of militants' agenda, which reflect 03 percent of the total editorials, being written on the issue of militancy. Abstract:
In our March editorial (Cai et al., 2018), we considered the problem of isolation in the work of teachers and researchers. In particular, we proposed ways to take advantage of emerging technological resources, such as online archives of student data linked to instructional activities and indexed by learning goals, to produce a professional knowledge base (Cai et al., 2017b, 2018). This proposal would refashion our conceptions of the nature and collection of data so that teachers, researchers, and teacher-researcher partnerships could benefit from the accumulated learning of ordinarily isolated groups. Although we have discussed the general parameters for such a system in previous editorials, in this editorial, we present a potential mechanism for accumulating learning into a professional knowledge base, a mechanism that involves collaboration between multiple teacher-researcher partnerships. To illustrate our ideas, we return once again to the collaboration between fourth-grade teacher Mr. Lovemath and mathematics education researcher Ms. Research, who are mentioned in our previous editorials(Cai et al., 2017a, 2017b).

Abstract:
This article dealt with how media outlets in a selected number of countries handled the problem of the republication of Charlie Hebdo's controversial “Je Suis Charlie” Mohammed cartoon cover after the terrorist attack of 7 January 2015 against the newspaper. A textual analysis of editorials and policy statements found that editorial decisions to republish or not to republish the Mohammed cartoon in different countries constituted journalistic paradigm work that reflected specific journalistic cultures. The dominant themes that emerged were (1) transnational journalistic solidarity as a form of paradigm work and (2) the use of editorial independence as a paradigm defense and repair mechanism. Furthermore, we found that the American media, which practice the journalistic craft under the First Amendment, were not as unanimous as the Continental European media in considering republication of the Je Suis Charlie Mohammed cartoon as a barometer of transnational journalistic solidarity and support for freedom of expression.

This article deals with the discursive construction of work flexibility in Italy, through the analysis of the integral Italian White Paper on Occupation and of a corpus of 55 Editorials which discuss this topic in the pages of a popular Italian economic newspaper. Evident similarities have been registered between them as both texts are actually socio-political texts aimed at constructing and conveying a specific representation of work flexibility, thus proposing and supporting the reformation of the Italian labour market. Any difference has been discussed by making reference to the different kind of audience that the texts address: the expert audience of the Italian government for the White Paper and the more heterogeneous audience of mass communication for the editorials.

In our last editorial, we considered the impact of research on students' learning. In clarifying our perspective, we answered the question of “impact of research on what” to include both cognitive and noncognitive outcomes in students as well as long-term impact on students that goes well beyond short-term cognitive impact. A natural next step is to examine the conditions under which students can achieve such broad goals. We will devote the next set of editorials to exploring ways in which researchers can design their work to increase its impact on students' opportunities to achieve these goals.

Abstract: Here we discuss editorial agency and its impact in the work of Fernando Pessoa, focusing on perception, mobility and interpretation. A posthumous publication is a privileged object to investigate the complexity of the process of editorial agency and its effects because, in the posthumous extension of a corpus, what is at stake is precisely its construction. We also examine the role of the editor and his intervention, rather than the one of publishers, bearing into account the impact the decisions and reorganizations can have when speaking of posthumous works. We conclude that a “work” is the product, or the result, of the joint work left by an author and that of its editors, and that a work or a set of works is not something determined and established forever, but a reassembled product, or the result of a construction or reconstruction. Keywords: Fernando Pessoa; editorial agency; mobility; interpretation; work; posthumous work.

Abstract:
The presentation of research results is definitely an important part of any scientific article. On the one hand, the findings of the conducted research should be explained in as much detail as possible, whereas on the other, the obtained results must be clear, understandable and relevant. The previous editorials analysed the elements of a scientific article such as the title and summary (Lamanauskas, 2019a), introduction (Lamanauskas, 2019b) and the description of methodology (Lamanauskas, 2020). This editorial briefly discusses the optimal presentation of research results treated as one of the most interesting stages in preparing a scientific article and requires effort, intensive work and creativity. Alternatively, both methodology and research results (empirical research in particular) are considered the most important parts of a manuscript (Fox & Jennings, 2014). As expected, many important points related to the description of research results are given in APA 7th. ed. (2019), and therefore are not intended to be discussed in detail. Although APA standards are widespread, other criteria are also admitted by scientific community and focus in this editorial is more oriented on the practical subjects of academic writing and the most common mistakes.

Vinogradov, V. A. Viktorovich attributed this article to F. M. Dostoevsky. The editorial board of the academic “Complete works in thirty volumes” argued that the note was penned by V. P. Meshchersky. I. Zohrab believes that “Desire” was written by V. P. Meshchersky and edited by F. M. Dostoevsky. The article conducts an examination based on stylistic and mathematical statistics methods. As a result of the comprehensive analysis of the text, both at the ideological (content) and linguistic level, the version of F. M. Dostoevsky’s authorship was rejected. A comparative analysis of “Desire” with the texts of Dostoevsky and Meshchersky and the conclusions made using statistical attribution methods allow us to recognize V. P. Meshchersky as the author.

AbstractThis work describes the proposal and application of an instrument to evaluate the editorial management of the journals based on given concepts, categories and units of analysis. Abstract:
This issue of Ukrainian Religious Studies (UR) is the first in 2019 to open a new page in the history of our professional publication. The complete digitization of all the UR numbers from 1996, which were published on the website of the National Library of Ukraine named after VI Khmelnytsky, was carried out. Vernadsky, located the journal on the new platform OpenJournalSestem, entered several scientometric databases responsible for global indexing of scientific publications (Google Scholar, Copernicus). We have updated the composition of the editorial board, which introduced world-renowned religious scholars. Changed our editorial policy, which is clearly written on their page. Now it has become more transparent and open: all articles to the SD will be submitted via the Internet and will be double-blind reviewed. In this way we are approaching the world standards for writing and publishing scientific articles.

Abstract:
A serving community is a strategic plan that needs to be considered by several local newspaper production in Java. This includes a newspaper in Semarang, Suara Merdeka Daily. This study determines the commitment of Suara Merdeka Daily in serving the community. Data were obtained from the analysis of internal regulatory content on editorial work and business. This study used Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to support and share data with the newspaper management team. The results showed that the editorial's internal regulations did not explicitly indicate the commitment to serve the community. This regulation has been implemented for a long time, yet it does not adjust to the relevant newspapers' actual conditions. Generally, businesses have rules that require community involvement in their programs. The management team is expected to revise the regulations to suit the public's needs and develop relevant community involvement for the local newspaper's existence.

Abstract:
The cry of labor has seized the world’s ear. The Press, the Legislature, and the world at large is listening to the voice of labor…. When this journal first resolved to secure a hearing for all working-class questions, there was scarcely a column of a leading London newspaper which was then open. Now, following our lead, every great daily paper has its labor section…. Nor is it only the press which is watchful. It is the readers of the Press….This self-promoting editorial in the Star in 1891 made a critical point: labor issues were becoming a standard feature in daily newspapers. Sweating, loopholes in factory legislation, and the famous Dock and Match Girls’ strikes were among the subjects found in the pages of papers such as the Star. This trend in reporting was part of the “New Journalism” that developed in England between the 1880s and 1914. In an attempt to cater to the tastes of mass audiences, there was a shift in emphasis from parliamentary and political news to sports, gossip, crime, and sex. Papers, for instance, reported on the brutal Jack the Ripper murders in the East End of London. New journalists and editors, like W. T. Stead and Thomas P. O’Connor, also produced interviews, exposes, and political editorials in order to influence public opinion and promote what Stead called “government by journalism.” Stead produced what has been called the most successful piece of scandal journalism of the nineteenth century, “The Maiden Tribute of Modern Babylon,” which depicted young girls for sale to older men. Passage of the 1885 Criminal Law Amendment Act, which raised the age of consent for sex to sixteen, was one of its political consequences.
