Abstract:
Purpose. This study examines two newspapers' editorial coverage of issues related to the Healthy People 2010 focus areas and compares the two newspapers. Design. A qualitative study. Setting. Two Los Angeles, California, newspapers. Subjects. The masthead editorials of the Los Angeles Times and La Opinión in the year following the release of Healthy People 2010. Measures. A structured data abstraction instrument was used for descriptive coding. Correspondence to 1 of the 28 Healthy People 2010 focus areas determined whether domestic editorials were about health. Analysis. An ethnographic content analysis. Results. There were 1075 editorials from the Los Angeles Times and 361 from La Opinión; 17% were focused on domestic health issues. Three Healthy People 2010 focus areas dominated: Environmental Health, Injury and Violence Prevention, and Access to Quality Health Services. Ten focus areas did not receive a single mention in the Los Angeles Times, and 19 focus areas lacked editorials in La Opinión. Conclusion. Editorial writers regularly tackled issues related to a Healthy People 2010 focus area. Public health practitioners can meet with their local newspaper editorial board and discuss the nation's health objectives as manifested by Healthy People 2020 and the National Prevention Strategy, thereby promoting policies that support individual and population health.

Abstract:
The Brazilian Book Industry is crossing a time of changes. The adoption of digital reading and learning technologies tends to change the structure of the industry and its operations. The industry is already being modified by concentration and entrance of international players in the Brazilian Market. Significant changes has taken place in the United States Book Industry due to the growth of e-books sales, however it is not clear if they will repeat their role in Brazil. This work aims to identify trends and uncertainties that may influence the development of possible futures and to plan scenarios for the Brazilian Book Industry. To reach these objectives, it uses the method developed by Paul Schoemaker (1995), whose application made use of data collected by desk research, participant observation and industry analysis based on Value Net technique (Nalebuff & Brandenburger, 1996). As results, it identifies trends and uncertainties to monitor and describes two scenarios for this Industry.

Hunter, John Mark. "The effects of teaching strategy and cognitive style on student interpretations of editorial cartoons." Diss., Virginia Tech, 1991. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/39957.

Full text
Abstract:
Many people assume that editorial cartoons are easily understood by the bulk of the population. For this reason, editorial cartoons are often used as teaching materials in the classroom. Recent research, however, raises doubts as to the effectiveness of this practice. Investigations by Bedient (1971) and DeSousa & Medhurst (1982) determined that the majority of students (grade 5 through college) could not interpret editorial cartoons. These investigators went on to suggest that a logical next step would be to determine if editorial cartoon literacy can be taught. The cognitive style of the participants was examined to determine if the different teaching strategies were differentially effective vis-a-vis field dependence and field independence. Two presentations (treatments) were designed to model methods of reading editorial cartoons. The Whole Cartoon Analysis presented 25 editorial cartoons along with a 100-200 word interpretation of each cartoon. The Parse Analysis Treatment was accomplished in three steps rather than the one for the Whole method. In step one, the whole cartoon is presented with a short gloss of the meaning. In step two all of the cartoon is visually suppressed except for one visual meaning element. This element of the cartoon is discussed and then the next element of the cartoon is added, and so on until the entire cartoon is back on the screen at which point the overall meaning is discussed. The dependent variable of the investigation was the two-part Editorial Cartoon Interpretation Task. Part A asked each participant to enumerate the symbols in the cartoon and define them as to meaning. Part B asked the participant to write a short thematic interpretation of the cartoon. A two-way Analysis of Variance on the data revealed no significant differences in either the main effects or the interaction.<br>Ed. D.

Pioter, Jill. "(False) portrait of the artist as a woman: Editorial strategy in the diaries of Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath." Thesis, The University of Arizona, 2002. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/278790.

Abstract:
This thesis contends that, in the process of publication of the diaries of Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath, their husbands, Leonard Woolf and Ted Hughes, employed editorial strategies that created false portraits of the authors. Each of these men tantalized readers with the possibility of reading the 'truth' of these women's lives, but they edited their texts in ways that would minimize readers' understanding of Plath and Woolf while maximizing the benefits they would collect as heirs of the authors' literary estates. These examples are typical of a larger pattern in which women's private writings are edited by family and/or friends of the author in an effort to gain control of the author's public personae.

Abstract:
O presente estudo desenvolve uma abordagem de business history, colocando-se como uma interface entre a economia da propriedade intelectual, a análise institucional e a organização da firma e dos mercados<br>Why is the book business adopting and diffusing the digital book technology when this standard is supposed to disturb the enforcement of the copyright regime? If the digital reproduction of intellectual work is also followed by simultaneous and ubiquitous distribution and making it even harder to enforce the mechanisms that bounds the copyright a paradox emerges as a consequence. Why is this legal regulation necessary? We pursue to investigate the research question how the publishing business resource allocation strategy is correlated to profit appropriation. This dissertation is developed as a multidisciplinary effort based on the theoretical pillars within economic history, knowledge economy, neoinstitutional economics, sociology economics and strategy. After introduction, the work is divided in five chapters. The four initial chapters develop four correlated theoretical essays, with different lenses, aimed to search how the system of intellectual property rights affects, positively and negatively, the welfare and the strategic and contractual mechanisms carried by the economic agent as a reaction towards the copyright legal system. The final chapter concludes the research with three empirical investigations. Four different institutional environments - Brazil, France, United Kingdom and United States are comparatively evaluated in order to capture the effects of the industry resource allocation strategy and its relation to profit appropriation. The conclusion is that the main drivers of technology change - the special features of the North American regulation and its major importance on international trade, the strategic impact of major players, Amazon Apple and Google, and the large number of works available in the public domain to be captured - it is argued that the publishing business is not necessarily seeking to make a profit in the short term but gearing into a new production and distribution arrangement which is going to result in a new system of rent creation and distribution. This research is developed as a business history narrative, positioned within the fields of economics of intellectual property rights, institutional analysis and the study of firm and market organization.

Abstract:
The report examines the content marketing strategy. There are several challenges in defining the area and more to come when working with it. This essay aims to provide a recommendation of how to implement the strategy. How can traditional corporations learn from the editorial business and content  marketing experts? Several companies in the categories of traditional, editorial and content marketing experts have been interviewed for the study. The results showed that it is difficult to define content marketing and then suggests to label it otherwise. The study also concludes that there is no general solution for every company, thus different tools are acquired for different situations. However, main points of what factors to consider with the work of content marketing are presented, such as having editorial competence, a clear strategy and to measure relevant data. Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the study of 'graphic aesthetic' of the printed book and its use as a communication strategy in the marketing process and in the receiving of the printed work. The study focuses on the product of the narrative fiction printed book, as this subject represent the largest share of the publishing business. The study period stood since 2010, so it coincides with the beginning of a problem that through a series of internal and external factors to the publishing sector, they mark a turning point in the Spanish publishing sector. This thesis research might be called “field work”, as it has been applied qualitative research methodology that is structured around a broad framework, which has facilitated the observation, from a transversal perspective, of the workflow and the technical communication between the publishing processes, specifically in the theme of narrative fiction.<br>Aquesta tesi es focalitza en l'estudi de 'l'estètica gràfica' del llibre imprès i en la seva utilització com a estratègia de comunicació en el procés de comercialització i recepció de l'obra impresa. Abstract:
Il conçoit et publie deux roman, Maroussia, son adaptation de l’œuvre de Marko Vovtchok, et Michel Strogoff de Jules Verne<br>This study, based on French, Russian and Ukrainian archives, explores the literary and editorial strategies of three authors: the Russian writer Ivan Turgenev (1819-1883), the Russian and Ukrainian writer Marko Vovchok (Maria Markovitch, 1833-1907) and French publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel (1814-1886), who used to write under the pseudonym P.-J. Stahl. Both Vovchok and Turgenev are published by Hetzel in France. In turn, they translate and publish in Russia the works of his publishing house as well as his own writings. Their friendship, affectionate and professional relationships assemble a body of new books. In a foreign environment authors and writings are metamorphosed. Thus, Turgenev, a great Russian writer, published by Hetzel resembles a secondary French writer, while Marko Vovchok, author of cruel tales for adults, becomes an author for children at Hetzel editions. A literary intermediary, she immersed herself in the French novel and, through her numerous translations, transformed the Russian literary field. In turn, Hetzel-Stahl took a close interest in Ukraine and Russia. He conceived and published two novels, Maroussia, his own adaptation of Marko Vovchok’ novel, and Michel Strogoff by Jules Verne

Abstract:
Mots clés : Évènement médiatique, dispositif, cadre, co-construction, parler populaire, stratégie, tactique, identité éditoriale et loi de proximité<br>This work suggests to study the mobilization of popular speech during the media coverage of Egypt-Algeria match by the French-written generalist press and the Algerian specialized press. Our first observations on the treatment of the football event, lead us to suppose that the discourse of the newspapers of general information is not different from the dailies of sport. Thus, the research suggests grasping the strategies which frame the use of popular speech. It consists of analyzing the emergence of a communicational-info practice that can be part of a market penetration strategy seeking for an enlarged readership. The analysis of media acting skills, in press global crisis context foresees to show how they make use of popular speech, as a significant capitation pattern and a selling argument. To apprehend this issue, it seems necessary to situate this work in an approach that does not neglect the study of editorial identities of each press title. Therefore, we suggest to deconstruct the publications of four "reference" newspapers by defending a methodology based on theoretical aspects. That methodology is supplied by discourse analysis combined with quantified study of the event and supported by the visions of Algerian professionals’ media information.Key words: Media event, device, framework, co-construction, popular speech strategy, tactics, editorial identity and proximity law

As a symbolic-intensive industry, organizations within adopt diffuse strategies that try to conciliate economic and non-economic logics, as these last ones assure their legitimacy and survival in the field. The symbolic field, however, is volatile and its control by organizations is virtually impossible. This is why organization try, in one hand, to interpret their ambient and, on the other hand, to influence it through their strategies. Thus, in this type of industry, a sociological approach in strategy seems more adequate to understand actions by agents within this field as a whole, not only, on its instrumental aspects. This dissertation investigates discourses and practices embedded in the social context of the Brazilian book publishing industry, through a longitudinal study of secondary data which adopts an altered version for strategy of the discursive model of institutionalization as a structure of analysis. The main objective of this research is to understand how discourses and practices articulate in a field where legitimacy rules follow an anti-economic logic and where economic results are not always the organizations’ only objective. This work assumes a concept f strategic orientation that is described as a predisposition of a certain organization to adopt one or other strategy, revealed through its organization discourses and practice that are indicative of a reflexive interpretation of its environmental context. Content analysis was the methodology of choice to interpret Brazilian book publishers’ environmental context, in its institutional and technical aspects, and its strategic orientations, revealed through texts and actions presented in clipping news collected at publishnews.com.br for three years. In face of the analyses conducted, the following results were achieved. Firstly, discourses and practices effectively allowed description of both environmental context and strategic orientations in this industry. From a theoretical perspective, it was confirmed that discourses are an integral part of publishers’ strategic orientations, always articulating with practices. Even though dissonance between them was seemingly apparent, it revealed itself dissimulated when in context. The more symbolic are the desired results, the more relevant and more present are discourses as part of strategy. In this industry, strategic orientations dialogue more with the institutional that with the technical environmental since it is within institutional contexts that organizations can acquire market differentiation through by-products such as legitimation, mystification and consecration. Publishers also strategically orient themselves more intensively towards gatekeepers than toward and consumers. Gatekeepers, as main producers of by-products, allow chosen publishers to attract the rarest resources (authors and human resources), which are fundamental for surviving in a symbolic-intensive industry. From a practical sense, the use of this framework showed that strategic dichotomy between small and large publishers is a simplistic way of seeing strategic groups, ignoring fundamental choices that escape economic logic. Analyses also brought up that elements of an archaic vision of capitalism are very much still present in Brazilian market, embedded in the strategic orientations of a large number of publishers, in examples such as an excessive demand for federal government responsibility in developing the market, and texts overmystifying and overemphasizing the importance of the book universe. Publishers whose orientations presented themselves as opposite to that view achieved success in developing new markets. Finally, this dissertation would place under serious doubts available economic data on this industry, frequently uses to justify public investment and demands, but that do not hold itself up under the realities here exposed.<br>O estudo das indústrias de criação representam uma rica contribuição para a abordagem da estratégia como prática.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
AbstractAlthough scaling is a “hot topic” in the practitioner literature, it has mostly been ignored (at least explicitly) in the academic literature. Building on a recent editorial, this chapter highlights the importance of scaling for new venture growth. Scaling refers to spreading excellence within a venture as it grows (organically or through acquisition) from a new (and often small) organization to an established, large organization (Shepherd &amp; Patzelt in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, 10.1177/1042258720950599, 2020). In this chapter, we explore the drivers and consequences of scaling and explain how knowledge management facilitates scaling, how founder replacement impacts scaling, and how current scaling influences subsequent scaling.

Full text
Abstract:
This chapter aims to map Russian literary translation in Italy in the twentieth century and to reflect on how politics influenced publishers’ and translators’ choices. The increase of Russian literary translations into Italian is linked to the strong interest Italians had for Russia from the eighteenth century onwards, leading to a reception process unique among European literatures. After the October Revolution, many Russian exiles chose Italy as their second home and tried to propagate their culture there. The most important of these was the poet Viacheslav Ivanov. Thanks to his encouragement, the first rhymed Italian translation of Aleksandr Pushkin’s Evgenii Onegin appeared. After World War II, Russian literature in Italy was identified with the Soviet Union; texts chosen for translation were intended to underline their political-social character. Left-oriented publishing houses, such as Editori Riuniti and Einaudi, focused their interest on the literature of the “Thaw” period and of the Twenties. For Feltrinelli, a small Milanese publishing house specializing in political texts, Soviet literature was a key element of ‘editorial strategy’. Publicity surrounding the 1957 world première publication of Doctor Zhivago, followed by Pasternak’s 1958 Nobel Prize, brought Feltrinelli huge success. In the following two decades the polarization of cultural political issues subsumed discourse on Russian and Soviet literature into academia. From the mid-1980s onwards, Russian literature gradually lost its centrality to Italian translation publishing, overwhelmed by the collapse of the Soviet Union. Thirty years after the end of Communist ideological influence, the initiative to celebrate Dostoevsky’s bicentenary in 2021 (and the many new translations that have appeared to mark it), show how, without Russian literature, Italy’s literary heritage would be irredeemably impoverished.

Abstract:
Abstract Creative tourism, due to its interactive nature and lively cultural exchange between locals and travellers, particularly lends itself to the opportunities presented by social media marketing. This is especially true when it comes to blogs, video posts, or (live) story updates on social media. Care should be given to always have a professional strategy in content marketing: choosing one social media platform over another has to be in line with your company's strategic communication goals and may be aided by other competent partners, such as professional digital content creators. Further, establishing a publication guideline in the form of an editorial calendar can help creative tourism managers better reap the benefits of social media marketing. This has been demonstrated in highlighting the example of Kreativ Reisen Österreich Creative Tourism Austria, which over the years has successfully built up an online community of creative travellers in the German-speaking parts of Europe. Regarding future trends in digital marketing, suffice to say that good content, and now context, will always matter and interactive content will become increasingly mainstream. An interesting context creative tourism could seek for the purpose of its continued proliferation worldwide is an association with destination video storytelling. As virtually all tourism destinations employ various video platforms, and live video formats, to highlight their travel offers, creative tourism is especially likely to head to the forefront of this type of social media marketing tool.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter focuses on the working methodology of the sixteenth-century Unity of Brethren, an early modern reformed religious community in the Czech lands in the Wycliffe and Hus traditions. The Brethren were pioneers in adopting the most advanced editorial practices from western Europe and engaging in high-quality publishing and humanistic editing. This chapter discusses some recently discovered documentation showing how the Brethren’s egalitarian structure and scholarly attitude directly impacted their printing habits. Examining a corrected copy and proof sheets of two Brethren hymnbooks, as well as their bishops’ correspondence, reveals a collective and highly organised system of editing and proofreading. The cases of two Brethren’s bishops, Jan Blahoslav and Izaiáš Cibulka, demonstrate the methods of the Brethren’s correctors and clarify from where they drew their proofreading skills.

Abstract:
In news organizations today, editorial strategy is business strategy. The two are entirely intertwined. Understanding either requires studying both. With the shift to digital, the process of publishing the news has transitioned from a series of loosely coupled, sequential, and periodic production tasks to a set of complex, overlapping, and stochastic outputs requiring significant alignment and coordination to succeed. For journalists, these changes are challenging newsroom norms and driving an embrace of human-centered design practices and product thinking. For academics it is an opportunity to study the remaking of organizational roles and relationships in the business of digital news, an effort that is still in its infancy.

Abstract:
Until 2018, Italy lacked a magazine specifically dedicated to crimes against Cultural Heritage: the Journal of Cultural Heritage Crime (JCHC) has proposed to fill this gap. The Journal combines a content-oriented web platform and a social media strategy (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn). The project primarily aims to spread accurate information and raise public awareness, thus contributing to tackling crimes against Cultural Heritage. It actively promotes cultural events (as a sponsor, patron, organiser or media partner) and fosters network-building with professionals and institutions (such as INTERPOL and the Carabinieri). Each week, the JCHC website features articles, flash news, books reviews, a press review (national and international), and a cultural events calendar; on the other hand, a customised communication strategy has been developed for each social media account. The engagement data and the different kinds of interaction show that the project can indeed be an effective tool in countering crimes against Cultural Heritage.

Abstract:
Abstract ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code, Section III, Division 1, Subsection NC, Class 2 components, and Subsection ND, Class 3 components, have significant technical and administrative similarities. The ASME BPV III Standards Committee has a long-standing goal of combining these two subsections (NC and ND). Consolidating Subsections NC and ND will simplify, reduce repetitions and make the Code easier to use. Additionally, a combined Subsection NC/ND will simplify Code maintenance. To facilitate this consolidation, the Subgroup on Component Design, under the BPV III Standards Committee assigned a Task Group to develop a strategy to combine the two subsections into a single subsection while maintaining both Class 2 and Class 3 as separate classes of construction. Both Subsections NC and ND of the Code have been completely reviewed, compared and the technical bases for the differences have been established. The conclusion of this review is that there are only a few major technical differences between the two code class rules; however, there are a significant number of editorial differences. Based on the review, the Task Group developed a strategy that completes the consolidation within two publishing cycles of Code edition. For the Code Edition 2019, two separate Subsections NC and ND books will be published to resolve editorial differences and otherwise align the two subsections. For the Code Edition 2021, a single merged subsection will be published. This paper provides the background for the proposed code change, discusses the detailed result of the NC/ND comparison, and provides the basis for the major technical differences. The paper will also update the status of the project and code actions needed to consolidate to a single subsection.

Abstract:
The fourth industrial revolution brought with it a set of technologies that are changing the way individuals and organizations carry out their activities on a daily basis. Additive manufacturing, commonly known as the 3D printing, it has been widely used around the world on face shields manufacturing against COVID-19. Thus, this project aim to seek, from a bibliometric research with a quantitative approach, to expand the knowledge regarding the manufacture of face protectors in additive manufacturing in times of COVID-19. For this purpose, a search was performed in the Scopus database, for works in all languages, using the following search strategy in the Title, Keywords and Abstract fields [(3D, additive manufacturing, three dimensional, 3D print) AND (face shield; shield*; PPE; Personal protective equipment) AND (covid*; coronavirus; pandemic)]. In the next step, a refinement and organization of the research data was carried out, with the support of Excel, in order to develop descriptive statistics. From a descriptive analysis of the published documents, it is observed that the publications have a recent date, from the year 2020. Of the 109 documents analyzed, 70 are Articles (64.2%); 16 are Reviews (14.7%) and the other 23 works are divided into Conference Paper, Letter, Editorial, Note and Book Chapter (21.1%). Despite only two years of publications, there are already works published in seven categories of document types. Thus, it is clear that it is a field that is still growing and favorable to new research and discoveries.

Abstract This paper covers the general approach followed by AFCEN, the French Society for Design, Construction and In-Service Inspection Rules for Nuclear Island Components in updating the nuclear code RCC-M, from the technical and organizational points of view. The main evolutions introduced in recent editions of RCC-M code are presented and commented on, with a focus on the 2018 edition of the code, which marks the end of the 3-year program carried out to demonstrate the conformity with European essential safety requirements for pressure equipment and French requirements for nuclear pressure equipment. In addition, the main on-going activities are presented, as well as the future activities of the RCC-M subcommittee, in the frame of the 4-year editorial program that has been launched in 2019, in line with the AFCEN 4-year strategic plan. They encompass all fields covered by the code: design and analysis rules, material procurement, fabrication and nondestructive testing. The paper highlights how the industrial experience is integrated into the RCC-M code, and also how the new projects needs are taken into account.

Abstract:
The paper problematizes the current situation and development perspectives of social science journals in Serbia in the context of global (international) and national interests. Scientific articles in national social science journals are commonly the most prevalent form of dissemination and production of scientific knowledge, standpoints and views, a clear indicator of research excellence of university teachers, as well as the indicator of the quality of scientific journals, and the quality of scientific research in general. Therefore, it is not surprising that national and global interests and values intertwine in the domain of national journals. The reference framework for the analysis of selected issues is placed within the range of existing scientometric and bibliometric research, as well as the legislation referring to scientific research, manner and procedures for the evaluation of research results, and election to academic titles. The analysis we conducted led to the general conclusion that national social science journals are in a gap between the national and global context. Although their significance is beyond question, by promoting national and cultural values and interests, they exist as insufficiently competitive and globally invisible media for transfer and valorization of scientific knowledge in the academic community. In addition to analyzing the implications of the current education policies, editorial policies of the journals and strategic solutions aimed at raising and evaluating the quality of national social science journals, and integrating them into global information system trends, the paper also proposes potential directions for further development of national social science journals as a prerequisite for raising scientific productivity in the domain of social sciences.

Abstract:
The ARA plan, acronym for Architecture and Rehabilitation of Alcoy, was the response to a collective desire of change and to the need for the renewal of an industrial city with a deeply rooted bourgeois and working-class base. The impulse and credibility that made possible the conception of the ARA plan came from a series of projects that consolidated seriously damaged zones of the historic center, and secondarily from the economic commitment of the Generalitat with urban projects of great disciplinary interest that, at that time, had the character of pioneers for their modern procedures of intervention on the inherited city. The common framework of Plan ARA hosted many urban proposals very different in their methodology. However the sense of their cohesion in the city was evident because behind them there was a thought of order necessary for the consolidation and modernization of the urban patrimony that future challenges would ask for. The most relevant architectural project was the renovation of the neighborhood of La Sang, which won the FAD Architecture Award in 1999, but for the citizens the evidence of a remarkable change came with the construction of the public parks. Since that moment the people perceived that an ambitious and clear idea of the city was giving shape to their daily domestic outer spaces.Unfortunately a mix of political and economical issues truncated or set aside important ongoing projects so the completion of the ARA plan was never reached. and the aspiration of becoming an strategic city was forgotten.References:Vidal Vidal, Vicente M. Abstract:
The multifunctional role of neighbourhoodscale parks is vital within the urban system. They are not neutral spaces in terms of the functions attributed to them by the social collectivity. This causes them to be analyzed, evaluated and projected in interdependence with the physical and social environment where they are located or can be located. València parcs de barri is a web platform that arises from a teaching project developed by the Teaching and Research Group TUR (urban planning workshop), within the studies of Degree in Architecture at the Universitat Politècnica de València. It is born worried about the improvement in the project decisions of the neighbourhood parks. It considers that these public spaces have not been designed with sensitivity towards the social function that they fulfil. This social function is established by the daily uses that the population makes and what the park means to them. Among the objectives of this platform are to open the University to society, involve students in a social project and listen to the user. In addition, it is necessary to diagnose and design the parks with and for the subject-user, because this is the true protagonist of the public space. This paper collects the need to establish a plan to be followed by València Parcs de Barri in the coming years. The plan is a road map that defines the strategic lines and phases to be followed in a community based research project, applying the methodologies of participatory action. Abstract:
Abstract: The recent academic interest in the surrealist movement is a far-reaching review, having widened the scope of analysis with evident multidisciplinary ambition. Its strategic relationship with other disciplines, the imposture of their urban drifts as social and ethnographic practices, the deepening on the manipulation techniques of photography and writing, the naturalization of fragmentation associated with montage and, finally, the review of the imprecise nature of the Surrealist object in its different versions (objet trouvé, objet à réaction poétique, objet-type, ready-made, etc.) and its seminal role in the contemporary facilitate an open and complex research scenario. A scenario within which the work of Le Corbusier is perceived in a new perspective. Le Corbusier adopted techniques related to surrealism, such as photography, montage, automatism and the calligram, in order to expand as well as undermine the meaning of canonical paradigms associated to productive and technological rationality, in particular those related to the domestic milieu. The use of such display of discursive instruments facilitated the contamination of his editorial and architectural work with the destabilizing and conflicting strategies that characterize the Movement. Abstract:
targeting rural NEETs. In my opinion, this is the most outstanding contribution of this manual, and also an original one, considering that to date no other efforts have been made with the intention of developing a grid of how to describe interventions dealing with rural NEETs. This manual offers, therefore, valuable contributions for upcoming research efforts within and beyond RNYN, including: (a) a complete methodological framework for future case stu-dies; (b) practical tools to conduct field research than can be combined with many different methodological approaches (qualitative, mixed-methods, etc.); and, (c) strategic criteria for conducting research in complex settings such as community-based programs. In addition, this manual sets the necessary conditions to present evidence-based conclusions about programs targeting rural NEETs, further aiding policy-makers to opt for solutions that clearly produce better results. This manual would not have been possible without the efforts and best knowledge from its editorial team. Therefore, as the Chair of RNYN, but also in a more personal note, I would like to thank Claudia Petrescu, Emre Erdogan and Paul Flynn for the impeccable and rigorous way in which they conducted all the process. I would also like to thank the Working Group 2 mem-bers traversing many countries who contributed to this document.
