Full textIn Perú the inclusion program is relatively new, there are not many national investigations that care to study the teacher’s perceptions. The present study, is a qualitative investigation that focuses on learning the perception of private school teachers towards the inclusion program in Lima. A semi-structural interview was made to 6 teachers with experience in inclusion and 3 without experience in inclusion located in lima, which are implementing the inclusion program. The results showed that there weren’t many differences between teachers with and without experience in inclusion. Teachers perceive that it is necessary to do activities in 4 principal aspects: pedagogical, institutional, parents and classroom. They mention the necessity to have more capacitation and extra time to dedicate to their inclusion cases. Also, teachers found more disadvantages than advantages in mainstreaming. The most common disadvantages mention by the teachers refers to the overwork, insufficient time, the relationship with parents with disable and regular students. Finally, the most outstanding conclusions are that teachers generally focus their attention on the disability of the student that could cause low academic expectations towards them and, also, they demand more training, time and support from the school.

Full textThis research looks forward to explore mother’s conceptions about inclusive education in a private school in Metropolitan Lima. The participants were six mothers with a child with special educational needs. The current study was made under a qualitative approach with fenomenological focus and a thematic inductive analysis design. As a technique for collecting data it used an semiunestructured interview. Main results showed that the participants conceived inclusive education as an oportunity for student’s development and preparation to live in diversity in the society. For them, inclusive education is for people with physical disability and as a smaller extent for people with mild intelectual disability but not with moderate or severe disabilities. About inclusive policy, participants understood it as a particularity of school system and not know it was part of peruvian educational system. Mothers report that team work between school and families promotes learning goals and inclusive culture lead to values as tolerance and diversity respect for the whole educational community. This study reafirms that schools should inform families about inclusive education therefore they could understand, know and enhance with that procese. Also, it remains that share and reflect about inclusive education is a need for all the educational community.

Full textInclusive education is a controversial issue in our country, as there is still discrimination against boys and girls with special educational needs, even though laws have been formulated to support their rights. Given this, this work aims to analyze the perceptions of teachers regarding the inclusion of children with special educational needs in classrooms of cycle II in a public institution in Cercado de Lima. This research is descriptive, the case study and the interview were used as a research technique. It is concluded that the teachers' beliefs are related to their experience and the fact of learning about inclusive education and that, despite not having training in inclusive education, they present a positive attitude towards children with special educational needs. Regarding the factors that favor inclusive education, the training they receive from SAANEE and the support they receive from parents are mentioned. And the factors that make it difficult are the insufficient number of trainings, as well as the scant and repetitive information they provide. Also, initially the attitude of denial or nonacceptance of the parents. And finally, school management makes inclusive education difficult, since there is not a good investment in terms of training, infrastructure and materials.

Full textThe main objective of this study is to analyze the main factor that influence the teacher´s attitude towards the inclusive education process of students with learning disabilities in primary regular classrooms of a public school in the district of Pueblo Libre. This study presents a qualitative and phenomenological approach, in order to study the influence of each factor according to the experiences of teachers, parents and directors. The development of this research is considered relevant, as the issue of inclusive education has become more important in recent decades due to a number of factors, including the increase in students with learning disabilities and new education policies related to educational inclusion. In addition, investigations realized in different countries indicate the frequent failure of teachers to include students with disabilities in learning in regular primary-level classrooms. On the other hand, few sources demonstrate studies in Latin America on educational inclusion of the group of students mentioned. That is why it is considered relevant to investigate around those factors that influence the teaching attitude when a student with a disability is included in learning in a regular classroom. The main results obtained in the research show the direct influence by certain factors in different proportions. It is therefore concluded that the main factors considered most influential are teacher education, resources and working with the families of students with learning disabilities.

Full textThe Register of Students with Disabilities (R-NEE) collects information from these students to participate in the Ministry of Education's learning achievement assessments. Its implementation includes physical and virtual components, as well as the participation of various actors in the educational community. Through this type of registry, the identification of this population becomes relevant, not only for statistical purposes but as the basis of policies that promote their participation and integral development; from social management, the aim is to understand the context in which the R-NEE is developed to know the effectiveness of the process, identify the role that its actors assume, know the perception and reflection of the educational community on disability and identify key actions to improve its management and implementation. Our research is a qualitative case study that analyses what factors favor or limit the use and benefit of the information recorded in the R-NEE during the process of its implementation in the framework of the assessments of learning achievements in the Lima Region, in the period from June to September 2019. For this purpose, we use the documentary review and semi-structured interviews, as well as a focus group on a significant sample of actors involved: UGEL specialists, directors and teachers of educational institutions, parents of students with disabilities, SAANEE members and Minedu monitors. The analysis is based on the pedagogical model of inclusive education that seeks access to quality education based on the attention to the diversity of needs and learning conditions that an educational response requires for the student to face personal limitations and those of their context that, according to the ecological paradigm of evaluation, influence the construction of knowledge and its measurement. The main results show that the participation of the family and the teacher of the student with disabilities is essential; the knowledge that actors involved have about disability is important, as well as the process of registration and management of ICT.

Full textThis article explores the future work and educational expectations of deaf people in Lima, Peru, through a qualitative research that consisted of interviewing sixteen Deaf people between 18 and 30 years old with the help of a sign language interpreter. In order to understand their experiences, the researchers contacted the participants through ASSORELI, Asociación de Sordos Región Lima (Deaf Association of Lima) and ASISEP, Asociación de Intérpretes y Guías Intérpretes de Lengua de Señas del Perú (Peruvian Association of Interpreters and Sign Language Guide Interpreters). After analyzing the results, the findings reveal that the deaf people interviewed have goals and objectives in life; however, they do not feel supported by the Peruvian State, since their rights are still being violated. The main problem, in education, work and in their daily life, is the lack of sign language interpreters in public and private establishments, as well as in learning centers, which limits them and does not allow them to fully develop in society. In the educational field, the conditions were not always adequate for the deaf people interviewed, since there are not many schools exclusively for them and there is not adequate training for sign language interpreters and teachers. Regarding the work field, it was determined that the interviewees who have had previous work experiences have a somewhat more positive outlook than those who have not yet had a work experience.

Full textThe study identifies and describes the dimension known as Leadership and School Management in two private schools within a segment that pays a tuition equal or larger than 400 soles. The assessment is done through the application of the tool Monitoreo de Prácticas Escolares (MPE) (MINEDU, 2017) used to assess public schools. The study is qualitative, transversal and cross-sectional and belongs to the descriptive range. Similarities and differences were found in the measurement of both schools, through data analysis resulting from principals’ interviews, teachers’ surveys, and the evidence gathered, after contrasting these analyses with the rubrics of the tool MPE, for each indicator of the dimension Leadership and school management. Similar levels were found for three indicators, this was related to the influence of the corporate group managing both schools. Different levels were found for two indicators and were related to the diverse contexts and expectations of stakeholders, represented by principals, teachers, parents, and students. The researchers concluded that is possible to measure the Leadership and School Management dimension indicators, applying the MPE tool within the segment of private schools prioritized in this study; promoting a gradual culture of self-institutional assessment is also encouraged. Keywords: MPE tool, leadership and school management, instructional leadership

Full textThe present work is based on an analysis of the learning assessment practices in a given number of courses of an academic unit of a private university in Lima, Peru. It poses a set of recommendations geared towards improvement, particularly in regards to coherence between the current evaluation practices and the competency-based education adopted as policy by the university. In this line, the work aims to develop a solid argument to justify the implementation of a professor´s capacity building activities from the perspective of educational management. Relevant data was gathered from pertinent documents and interviews applied to seven professors of mandatory courses of the curriculum in which the majority of students are registered. Findings demonstrate that the characteristics of the current evaluation practices are more in line with the traditional assessment than those of authentic assessment, both in the explicit objective as in the methods utilized. The data also demonstrate that the assessment is perceived as a resource detached from the learning process. Likewise, the design of the course is not formulated considering competency-based education, and consequently it is not linked to the assessment. Recommendations stress upon the need to persist research on the assessment practices, focusing on its consistency with the overall educational policy, increasing the coverage of professors involved, as well as incorporating the perception of students of such practices. The research also recommends that the academic unit under the study should make a thorough revision of its assessment systems in order to focus towards the creation of conditions that will allow a more efficient implementation of competency-based education as well as authentic assessment. A final recommendation is that the academic unit must reinforce capacity-building activities for their professors on competency-based education and authentic assessment

Full textThough teacher preparation is key to increase quality of Education, there are few studies that acknowledge how teachers learn to teach. International and national research reveal that teachers are more oriented towards direct transmission perspectives in both preparation and teacher practice. After examining predominant psychology and educational learning theories, as well as the guidelines prepared by the Peruvian Office of Education, the study proposes two conceptual poles along a continuum from direct transmission perspectives to social constructivist perspectives; the later ones are in alignment with the official guidelines. The study employs a qualitative method with interviews to authorities, teachers and students, in order to analyze the formative approach which is described along the continuum, five specific areas: knowledge approach, teacher’s role, student’s role, the role of context, and teaching practice in a Faculty of Education at a university. Results reveal a tendency to social constructivist perspectives from the institution, except for student’s role in the learning process. Additional findings reveal that firstyear students show more direct transmission perspectives, more likely because of their previous learning experience.

Full textThe current thesis proposes the strategic plan to boost the development of the Peruvian public university education sector at undergraduate level within a horizon of ten years for the department of Lima. The importance of the education is undeniable for a growing and developing country like this, where it is necessary to have quality education for youngsters to be trained and have appropriate aptitudes that allow them to enter the labor market and exercise their professional roles in order to become agents of change in the country. The last decade has seen the opening of many private undergraduate universities, however they have failed to have international accreditations that can situating them as modern organizations with qualified teachers and ideal infrastructure for the development of cognitive and scientific activity. The disintegration of the National Assembly of Rectors, as well as the opening of SUNEDU as general supervisor of education, and the New University Law No. 23733 generate a moment of change that can be a great opportunity to plan a change in the short, medium and long term in order to improve the quality of education of undergraduate public university system in the country and start climbing the international rankings of educational quality. This strategic plan has analyzed the internal and external factors that can recognize the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the sector under study, and also analyze the national and global context to develop strategies for the short and long term in order to improve indicators quality education as they are accredited and with great career teachers, cutting-edge infrastructure, updated curricula, student exchange plans and successful integration into the national labor professional market from different universities

"Relación y/o influencia entre el modelo educativo especializado que brinda el COAR y el rendimiento académico universitario de los alumnos que egresaron en los años 2012 y 2013 del COAR – Lima." Master's thesis, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12404/16908.
Full textThe main objective of this research is to identify the relationship and / or influence of the COAR specialized educational model with the university academic performance of the students who graduated in 2012 and 2013 from COAR - Lima, analyzing the proposal of the educational model and the evaluation that the students of the same have, in order to replicate the actions that allow the optimal development of the academic and personal abilities of the students, fulfilling in this way the objectives proposed by the MINEDU. The COARs are public schools that offer an educational service with high national and international quality standards that allows strengthening the academic, artistic and sports potential of high performance students. The implementation of the COAR is a responsibility shared between the Ministry of Education (MINEDU) and the Regional Governments (GORE). The MINEDU designs the model and the GORE requests the implementation of a COAR, prior stage of dissemination and awareness, for which an inter-institutional cooperation agreement is signed. The development of the research seeks answers to several questions regarding the identification and description of the knowledge that graduates have about the components that make up the model of the specialized educational service provided by COAR-Lima; the knowledge and analysis of the assessment and opinion of the students regarding the model of specialized educational service offered by the COAR and its relationship with academic performance; the identification and description of the habits and / or study techniques that the students learned at the COAR and the application of them in the university; as well as the knowledge and description of the motivations that lead the students to continue their studies at the university level. Following these objectives, we established an exploratory type of research, since there are no previous investigations that allow us to establish the relationship and / or influence of the educational model provided by the COAR with the university academic performance of the graduates. These results will allow obtaining proposals that contribute to strengthen and / or implement improvements in the actions of the MINEDU. The present thesis has been developed based on the qualitative methodological strategy. Since our main source of primary information are in-depth interviews, conducted to the main actors. The main findings are the following: a) The alumni of the COAR-Lima clearly remember the components that make up the COAR educational model, b) There is a direct relationship between what the students know, value and use of each of the components that make up the educational model of the COAR, and their university academic performance c) The students graduated from the COAR - Lima, have acquired and currently practice habits and / or appropriate study techniques that have allowed them to improve their university academic performance, d) The main strengths of the graduates are the responsibility, commitment and desire to excel that allow them to meet their established goals. All this makes it possible to conclude that the educational model of the COAR influences the university academic performance of the students who graduate from said institution. Finally, the present research suggests the strengthening of the various components that make up the COAR educational model and the constant development of the capacities in the different roles of teaching and administrative staff, proposing policies that allow achieving an effective and sustainable development of high performance schools.

Full textThe concern of educational institutions as well as the Ministry of Education for the performance of the directors in their management, and considering that the professional and personal profile for the position goes through the development of competencies related to the functions performed by a director in her position, the present investigation relates the managerial competences recognized as important by the directors of three educational institutions of Lima, with the competences that they exert in their management. To this end, the following question arises: How do the directors of three private educational institutions in Lima exercise in school management the competences they recognize as important? Insofar as it is known the ways in which the directors apply professional competences in the managerial tasks, they can be generalized from the corresponding social public policies. The objectives of the research are: 1. To describe the competences that the directors of three privately-run educational institutions in Lima recognize as important in their school management; 2. Analyze the competencies that the directors exercise in their school management; and 3. Analyze the Interest that the directors have for the work they carry out and their aspirations in the position. It is an applied research, diagnostic, of descriptive type that tries to analyze a specific situation delimited temporally and inscribed within a determined context. It is developed with a mixed methodology. To collect the information, the following instruments are used: questionnaire, focus group guide, observation guide, semi-structured interview guide and document review sheet. Information from different sources is collected, which is triangulated for analysis and interpretation. The research is a contribution to the field of Social Management because its results can constitute inputs for the development of strategies included in the programs aimed at improving the quality of school education. The research also collaborates in "the management of services, programs and social projects" (PUCP, 2014: s/p) to the extent that it offers specific characteristics to improve the real profile of the school director and that can serve as references for The design of an ideal profile of school leadership competencies that are part of public policies aimed at improving school management and therefore teaching and learning. 5 A social policy on the development of professional and personal skills in teacher training, both initial and continuous, would be the first step for future school managers to have an adequate profile that will serve them in the fulfillment of their functions. In this way, the institutional variable can be reduced as an important factor of school failure and dropout. The research is a contribution to knowledge in Social Management since its results provide information on the different ways in which social actors (directors) interact in and with the educational process from their role as managers of educational institutions in Lima. In addition, the research analyzes the competencies that the principals recognize as important in their school management and those that they exert during the development of the same. In addition, they indicate the different spaces of interaction of the directors in the process of school management and the levels of participation generated from the positions they play. Among the most noteworthy results, it is evident that the directors of Lima's three privately run educational institutions recognize important competencies in school management. However, in spite of the assessment they make of them and the perception they have of their exercise in the management they lead, in practice they fulfill some competences related to the attention of teachers, leaving aside the execution of the others because it takes them enough time to carry out monitoring and accompaniment activities for teachers. They also neglect the needs, interests and demands of students because they do not listen directly, do not have time to visit them in the classroom on a regular basis, nor to take an interest in their projects. The management of the directors is limited by the lack of autonomy in the planning of the processes. They exercise in different ways the competences that they recognize as important in their school management.

Full textMost existing research on learning styles commonly use univariate analysis, so there is no consensus about the effect of multiple factors associated with this construct. In this context, based on Experiential Learning Theory proposed by David Kolb, the purpose of this study was to verify the existence of differences in the four stages of the learning cycle and learning styles according to the interaction between sex, faculty and course of study in a group of students from a Technology Institute of Lima. To do this, the Learning Styles Inventory (LSI) – Version 2 was applied to 370 students enrolled in the 2011-1 academic semester. When performing multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), it was found that learning styles did not differ according to the crossing of the research variables. It was found that only the faculty variable produced a significant effect on the differences in students’ learning styles, even in all scales of the instrument administered. Although in less intensity, the sex variable also had a significant effect on some dimensions, because men preferred abstract conceptualization and women preferred concrete experience. However, the course of study variable showed no effect.

This was measured using TQM (Benzaquén, 2013) methodology, through a questionnaire applied to a sample of 361 schools of initial education, who were selected randomly from a population composed of 3,972 institutions. Among them it was identified that there is no consensus about the definition of Quality Management System, mistaking plans or requirements that have the Ministry of Education. The research concluded that the quality of early education Private Schools of Lima was good, with averages between 3.54 and 4.04, in Likert scale. The best performance was found in senior management and quality planning factors. While deficiencies in quality management and supplier quality circles were found. It was concluded that quality as a comprehensive system that covers the entire institution had not been implemented, but merely isolated programs or plans which were directly related to the work of teaching. According to the concept of quality, the investigation showed that schools do take into consideration the requirements and customer expectations for service design. But this was not made by following a methodology which showed none standardization, and also there were not any kind of indicators to monitor quality. The active participation of all staff was not aimed or encouraged, either in regular meetings or through the creation of quality circles.

Full textThis dissertation defends that, based on the Peruvian Constitution of 1993, it is possible to justify that the State has a mandate to implement a national curriculum that includes content on sexual orientation diversity, aimed towards the eradication of discrimination in and from the school. First, it is argued that contemporary constitutionalism and the theory of legal argumentation serve as a proper framework to structure a discourse on fundamental rights. On this basis, the general premises of the right to equality and the right to education recognized on the Peruvian Constitution are outlined. Second, the dissertation presents a general overview on the theories of sexual orientation and the legal treatment of discrimination based on sexual orientation in the world. Afterwards the studies on the problems of LGB children in school are examined as well as the proposal of an inclusive curriculum as a requirement of an education for all. Third and finally, based on the philosophical, constitutional and educational premises abovementioned the investigation hypothesis is validated.
