Wang, Hsiao-yun. "Le marketing des arts et de la culture : le cas des expositions éducatives pour les enfants dans les musées." Thesis, Lyon 3, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014LYO30003.
Full textPrior to the late 1980s, for example, children were not part of the museum audience. Lacking spaces and exhibitions for children, museum education for young people was absent. In order to support the implementation of museum education for children, we will discuss the types of exhibits appropriate for this endeavor. Recognizing the phenomenon of blockbuster exhibitions in particular, the purpose of this research is to investigate how museums elevate the practice of marketing, and how marketing plays a role in the interplay between the public, educational goals, the exhibit and the museum and influences the operation and presentation of the museum. We discuss the model of Disneyland, which employs marketing methods to attract children and family audiences. Museums seem to be influenced by this model, leading to a tendency of “Disneylandization.” Is it necessary for a museum that wishes to fulfill an educational mission and aim at a child audience to risk “Disneylandization” through its marketing methods? Our study provides an analysis of the methods of art marketing as they relate to educational museum exhibitions for children. We deal with two major issues: the “BEST analysis” to explore the environment and to understand the existing problems in the museum field; and the “BEST practice” approach to possible ways to solve the existing problems in the operation of the museum. The thesis proposes, in conclusion, to demonstrate that marketing gives to museums the means of better fulfilling their social and educational mission. We will show that a renewed approach to marketing makes it possible to use the proposed techniques to better meet the educational objectives of the museums; in other words, to more closely join supply (of education) and demand (by families and children)
Mongale, Francesca. "L'enfant, un public spécifique : l'éducation muséale : étude comparative France-Italie." Paris 5, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010PA05H044.
Full textThis research, about the education of children in museum, allows us to get to understand and go deeper into its contributions in the matter of education. We state that “young people can be educated” as a principle. We think that a child must be educated in the art as much as in the mathematics field, a principle enounced by Pierre Francastel. Therefore, we have observed that a visit in a museum for a child is not only a way to introduce him into the world of art but above all to allow him to enrich his imagination and his cultural and social representations. Leading a comparative study between the children in the museum in France and in Italy, inside this European space where the museum concept was formed, it occurred to us that being certain of the educational possibilities of the study of the art field was the right thing. Our study concerning children in the museum allowed us to notice that a visit becomes a life experience for them and can then enrich their imagination and the cultural baggage of each child, independently of his social origin environment. Every visit creates references and as they grow, children not only progress in the learning of the esthetic language but also in the formation of their cultural representations. In this research, we have noted that children are not afraid at the museum. They actually care about the visit, as this particular space excites them and stimulates their imagination
Joly, Philippe. "Pour une éducation esthétique à l'école élémentaire." Université Marc Bloch (Strasbourg) (1971-2008), 1992. http://www.theses.fr/1992STR20035.
Full textSpecific aim of "aesthetic" education (limited to pictorial arts), distinc from the technical training in art, is to develop and sharpen children's perception and curiosity. The matter is not to "train the pupils taste" and to inculcate in them "what to like", but to teach them how to tell why they like - or not, or less - a picture, and make them find out the exact words and reasons to tell it, in short, to educate them in order that they could really have their own taste. In working on a set of reproductions of paintings, pupils can note down their judgement by the meaning of a questionnaire. An evaluation chart of children's abilities in art appreciation during the school years, is thus provided. A practical approach with an experimental class aims at giving teachers some directions to build a structured curriculum in this particular field, mostly concerning paintings reading and appreciative vocabulary, without forgetting the collaboration with cultural partners such as fine arts museums

Full textAt the heart of recent cultural issues, museum institutions implement a cultural democratization project promoting art and museum spaces accessibility to a diversity of audiences. Based on France’s law on museums from 2002, this project is focusing on children and teenagers thanks to the creation of cultural mediation and specific museum offers. Regarded as the visitor of tomorrow, this young audience generates to museums a set of expectations and questionings regarding visitor knowledge, tools for increasing attendance, loyalty and art accessibility. These cultural mediation spaces become an opportunity for tracking visitors' journey and understanding intrinsic points of views. We will study various situations throughout the prism of Ergonomics by highlighting encounters with works of art during a guided tour on one hand, plastic and narratives creation during workshops on the other hand. Activity analysis will be an effective way for exploring and improving our understanding of traces of constructive activities and development in order to conceptualize them. These empirical and theoretical contributions will help developing appropriate resources of cultural mediation offers to young audiences and mediation professionals
Orellana, Rivera Maria Isabel. "La relation école/musée au Chili : le nouveau rôle des musées scientifiques dans le contexte de la réforme éducative chilienne." Paris, Muséum national d'histoire naturelle, 2005. http://www.theses.fr/2005MNHN0060.
Full textParallel with the process of transition towards democracy, Chilean society have experimented deep cultural changes. We analyze one of the emerging relationships in this new context: museum/school relation. For this, we have defined as our hypothesis that this relation, starts within the museum, slowly institutionalizing and building itself since the start-up of the educational reform raised from the new social and political context, and, in other hand, is based in the deficiency found in the way that science is being taught, which place the museum as an institution that have to make up for the school lack of means. We establish that the scientific museum/school relation is influenced by a need of becoming a practical assistance, in which the accent is the lack of means and the poor quality of education, but not in a explicit intention of founding itself in a place of collaboration in which both institutions learn, from their specific characteristics, peculiar elements from the other
Urbas, Boris. "La communication scientifique muséale au prisme de l'action en présentiel : le cas du Pavillon des Sciences." Thesis, Dijon, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014DIJOL015/document.
Full textIn science museums and science centers, "presential" mediation positioning a mediator and the public in the co-presence of objects within a dedicated environment, remains relatively unknown. From a Communication Science perspective, analyzing actual situations transcends the simple provision of information, and focuses on the significance of third party forms within the construction of meaning. Presential communication is transient and centered on the words and gestures of an embodied third party. It provides a greater potential for interactions around practical situations, unlike other media (i.e. an exhibition). The purpose of this research is to question the rightful place of these specificities within mediation processes in the Pavillon des Sciences, a french science center. Using qualitative methods and an immersive approach (observations, interviews), this research has enabled the analysis of mediation situations and adopted the viewpoint of both the explainers and the public. Scientific mediators propose different forms of access to scientific knowledge to the public, based on the exploration of a theme and presentation of an experimental approach. These results renew a hybrid form of sui generis communication, between museal interpretation and sociocultural activities, through the presentation of a variety of signifiers

Full textTaking into account the importance of the role of parents in accompanying the children (3-5 years old) through the discovery of an interactive scientific and technical exhibition, this research offers : (1) a typology of parents' practical attitudes according to their relevance to activities' context and children's capacities ; (2) the elaboration of a Parents Training Scheme (PTS) aiming mainly at changing parents attitudes towards their child, including a film used as support for parents debate and testimonies ; (3), an evaluation of the PTS. The study was conducted within the "3-5 years old" exhibition of the Cité des Enfants ("Children corner") of the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie (Paris). A total of 67 parent-child couples were observed (60 for the development of the typology of practical attitudes and 7 for the evaluation of the PTS) and their exchanges transcribed and analysed in reference to different models (tutorial acts, coversational pragmatics, and parents' distancing acts). The hypothesis suggesting that previous awareness of their role as tutor modifies the way parents accompany their children is verified. Analysis show a sharp and individualised evolution from their first visit at the museum to their second one, in between which the PTS intervened. This data is discussed in relation to previous studies on parent's training
Hardy, Isabelle. "Le patrimoine sur scène : théâtre, musée et site historique." Thesis, Université Laval, 2013. http://www.theses.ulaval.ca/2013/29869/29869.pdf.
Full textThis study examines the performance of historical characters as a form of heritage interpretation in museums and historic sites. We focus on Dramamuse, the former theatre company of the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, as well as at the Animation Department of the Plains of Abraham, a historical site in Quebec City. We examine the practical dimension of their different performances by describing and analyzing the elements needed to engage with the visitors. We investigate the roles of these elements, their relevance, their advantages and disadvantages, etc. Our results show that a combination of three pillars, namely the character, the actor and the tools used by the « character-actor », create a cognitive, emotional and sensorial experience of heritage for the visitors. These results shed light on a rich and developing practice in heritage interpretation.

Full textThe museum pedagogy is a discipline on the introduction of art and museum resources in the education system. The Russian experience in this regard is particularliar and deserves further study as it is proposed in this thesis. By focusing on the study of the Russian Museum, museum pioneer of museum pedagogy, we find evidence that the museum is an institution in Russia extremely dynamic with original innovations. These advances are the result of a strong tradition rooted in the museum world since the Soviet period that the museum is a major place for education. Today, the Russian museum education has evolved and is no longer linked with propaganda. The Russian Museum, one of the largest museums in Russia, has theorized and developed museum pedagogy at a level far unequaled in the world. The Russian Museum has over twenty years offered the Russian education humanization of education through art. Its educational program "Hello museum! "applied in schools, from childrengarden to high school, gives children, trough the study of Russian and world art, cultural foundations necessary for a harmonious understanding of the surrounding world, coupled with the awakening of national consciousness, a beloved theme for Russians. The analysis of the experience of the Russian Museum in the field of museum pedagogy is to show, first the positive impact of art on the development of the child and secondly the multiple applications of art education for the development of interdisciplinarity: teaching of mathematics, chemistry, physics and foreign languages through the medium of art

Full textThis master thesis is an analysis of the current specific actions on representation and interaction taken in contemporary ethnographic museums. The aim is to highlight museology pathways used to represent local Indigenous culture and to explore how the public is involved with and relates to these specific discourses on heritage. Special attention will be devoted to the study of the shift of museums from authoritative places of education to socially inclusive spaces. The mission of heritage professionals in terms of representation will be analysed, as well as their work on the notions of accessibility and involvement for and with the public. The Huron-Wendat Museum in Wendake, Québec, serves to investigate these museum practices. Drawing from thorough fieldwork and extensive secondary literature, this master thesis will further probe the prevailing notions of identity, continuity and unity of the new museology in a postcolonial context.
Eick, de Lima Lisandra. "Les sources de plaisir issues d’oeuvres d’art contemporain dans un contexte muséal." Thèse, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/1866/13115.
Full textToday, the educational role of museums in society as a whole is indisputable. Museums of contemporary art are important learning environments where a significant proportion of visitors can experience pleasure during their visit. Given the necessity of improving our understanding of this phenomenon, the present Master's level research has allowed us to identify, within the framework of the most recent research by A.M. Émond and C. Dufresne-Tassé entitled Le grand public et l’art contemporain: du rejet au plaisir, sources of pleasure which could emerge amongst visitors from the general public during a visit to the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art. To do so, we analyzed 30 discourses of visitors from Émond and Dufresne-Tassé’s study. Our research favours the qualitative approach, being simultaneously exploratory, empirical and fundamental. Our results have demonstrated the existence of pleasures which emerge as a function of three broad categories (Museum Object, Visitors Themselves, General Impression) which can be subdivided into eighteen subcategories. We have described each of these categories and subcategories of pleasure with the aid of examples extracted from visitors' discourses. We believe that with our findings on the identification and importance of pleasure, educational sectors of art museums could benefit from our research in the development of educational strategies for a non-specialist public viewing contemporary art.

Full textScience education is essential in elementary school, but it is often neglected. Science museums can overcome this gap by providing practical educational resources, including educational programs. This research determines the impact of a Biosphere’s educational animation of certain conceptions of students from elementary school. The researcher chose a qualitative research and the chosen method is an exploratory case study. Students from a class have participated to this study. They attended a museum visit, insert in a didactic sequence. Using several data collection tools (questionnaires, interviews and observations), the researcher has been able to identify four levels of modified conceptions of students (significant evolution, a certain evolution, stable conceptions, confusion conceptions). Finally, she suggests some ways of improving the Biosphere’s animation to maximize the impact of the visit on student learning.

Full textThroughout the ages, the Church has employed the arts. In the middle ages, in particular, the adornments of cathedrals (sculptures, frescoes, stained-glass) were prized not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their didactic potential—concrete techniques for catechizing and evangelizing. The nativity scenes mounted in the Museum of Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal can be viewed from this perspective. Taking into consideration this mission of evangelization incumbent on the Church, along side the emphasis on the visual in present-day culture and society, we intend to take as a starting point the exhibit of creches during the Christmas season 2009 at the Oratory to see how they might contribute to the effort at evangelization and to the enrichment of Christianity and Christians. In the final analysis, the nativity scene is essentially a work of faith, (not only as regards the faith of the artist but also the faith-experience of the person who looks at it) under the category of a devotion to the Holy Family. In world of change, where the visual arts are considered crucial, this method of evangelization is well-suited to the context of de-Christianization and may be considered as complementary to the traditional methods of evangelization based on speech. They are complementary not in the sense of “going from town to town, preaching and announcing the Good News of the Kingdom of God” (Luke 8, 1) to those who have never heard of Christ, but in the sense of stimulating the curiosity of non-Christian viewers, rekindling the interest of those who no longer practice, and supporting and deepening the faith of the devoted. Keywords: Christianity – Church – transmission – evangelization – education in the faith – museum – nativity scenes – Saint Joseph’s Oratory.
