Abstract:
A proposal for developing a database model and a web portal for managing registration for student accommodation in a dormitory is given in this paper. The portal has two user profiles and corresponding functionalities; they are intended for users/students and administrators, respectively. In the process of application for student accommodation in a dormitory, every student has to provide data referring to GPA, i.e. academic achievement at school, level of education, university, parents’ status, household members, the number of siblings and their school age, and household monthly income. The utilization of biology research resources, coupled with a “learning by inquiry” approach, has great potential to aid students in gaining an understanding of fundamental biological principles. To help realize this potential, we have developed a Web portal for undergraduate biology education, WormClassroom.org, based on current research resources of a model research organism, Caenorhabditis elegans. This portal is intended to serve as a resource gateway for students to learn biological concepts using C. elegans research material. The driving forces behind the WormClassroom website were the s

According to recent studies, the social interactions of users such as sharing, rating, and reviewing can improve the value of digital learning objects and resources on the web. Linked data techniques, on the other hand, make different kinds of data available and reusable for other applications on the web. Exposing (meta)data, especially with a complex structure, as resource description framework (RDF) requires an ontology to bring all the data types under one umbrella. In this article, the authors propose an ontology in which social activities of users are exposed as linked data by reusing exi

ETDs are the Swiss-army-knife which has unearthed the shades of grey by bringing forth the until now hidden research to the forefront of the world. ETDs powered by open source software like DSpace, EPrints build up information ecosystem for effective storage and retrieval of theses and dissertations which take years of hard work to culminate. Such systems need to be evaluated as its purpose gets defeated if users find it hard to retrieve desired information from it.
