Abstract:
Background. Spatial ability (SA) is a robust predictor of academic and occupational achievement. The present study investigated the psychometric properties of 10 tests for measuring of SA in a sample of talented schoolchildren. Objective. Our purpose was to identify the most suitable measurements for SA for the purpose of talent identification, educational assessment, and support. Design. Our sample consisted of 1479 schoolchildren who had demonstrated high achievement in Science, Arts, or Sports. Several criteria were applied to evaluate the measurements, including an absence of floor and ceiling effects, low redundancy, high reliability, and external validity. Results. Based on these criteria, we included the following four tests in an Online Short Spatial Ability Battery “OSSAB”: Pattern Assembly; Mechanical Reasoning; Paper Folding; and Shape Rotation. Further analysis found differences in spatial ability across the three groups of gifted adolescents. The Science track showed the highest results in all four tests. Conclusion. Overall, the study suggested that the Online Short Spatial Ability Battery (OSSAB) can be used for talent identification, educational assessment, and support. The analysis showed a unifactorial structure of spatial abilities. Future research is needed to evaluate the use of this battery with other specific samples and unselected populations.

Abstract:
The authors undertook research on the proper strategy of operation of educational building with gravitational ventilation in historic city center with high concentration of particulate matter PM10 and PM 2.5. In this facility the momentary increase in carbon dioxide concentration is often very high, and at the same time health requirements regarding atmospheric aerosol should be absolutely met. That is why long-term measurements of PM concentration outside and inside, as well as carbon dioxide concentration inside were carried out. CO2 was used also as a tracer gas for measurement of air change intensity. The article presents the first results of these tests and a correlation that occurs between the external and internal concentration of particulate matter PM 10 and PM 2.5. Due to a significant filtration effect of the external building envelope and particle deposition a potential conflict between required gravitational ventilation intensity and internal air pollution with particulate matters was partially reduced.

Abstract:
The methodological limitations education researchers face in the evaluation of reformed instruction have led to debates as to the evidence advancing evidence-based practices. To conduct more effective research, methodological pluralism in the evaluation of educational reforms can be used to complement the strengths and limitations of a corpus of literature informing the impact of an evidence-based practice. This study seeks to introduce randomization tests, a nonparametric statistical analysis incorporating a random-assignment component that can be applied to a single-subject (N = 1) research design, as a methodology to be counted amongst evaluations of instructional reforms. To demonstrate the utility of this approach, an evaluation of peer-led team learning (PLTL) for classes of second-semester general chemistry spanning 7 semesters was conducted using randomization tests. The design contributes novel understandings of PLTL including differences in effectiveness across instructors, trends in effectiveness over time, and a perspective as to the appropriateness of assumptions concerning statistical independence when applied to educational settings. At the research setting, four instructors (each constituting an individual case) alternated implementing lecture-based instruction and PLTL by term. Across these four instructors, the treatment effects of peer-led team learning when compared to lecture-based instruction ranged in impact (from d = 0.233 to 2.09). For two instructors, PLTL provided a means by which to significantly reduce the differential performances observed of students with variable preparations in mathematics, thereby advancing the equitability of their courses. Implications of this work include the incorporation of single-subject research designs in establishing evidence-based instructional practices, the effectiveness of PLTL as interpreted in a methodologically pluralistic context of the research literature, and enacting measurements of equity when gauging the success of instructional reforms in science. Further, this introduction to randomization tests offers another methodology for the evaluation of instructional reforms more widely applicable in educational settings with smaller sample sizes (e.g., reforms conducted within a single classroom or upper-level courses with small class sizes).

In this work we describe a series of performance tests on different architectures of high bandwidth local area networks, contemporarily in use at C.I.L.E.A. (Inter-University Consortium for Automatic Elaboration of Lombardy) to connect multi-processor machines devoted to educational and research purposes, such as fluido-dynamic and mechanical simulations. This LAN is essentially made out of a standard FDDI ring, and an HyperFabric backbone. HyperFabric is a Hewlett-Packard high performance network system bus, with a declared maximum bandwidth of 2.5 Gbit/s full duplex per link. We present a comparison, in terms of effective bandwidth, average throughput and CPU consumption of the above mentioned network systems. Furthermore we also describe the effects, in terms of transfer efficiency, of such a mixed environment, in which different systems co-exist and must often be cross-walked by various applications, as backups and mass storage access. Measurements and comparisons are made using Open Software tools like netperf and HetPIPE.

Abstract:
Item response theory provides a useful and theoretically well-founded framework for educational measurement. It supports such activities as the construction of measurement instruments, linking and equating measurements, and evaluation of test bias and differential item functioning. It further provides underpinnings for item banking and flexible test administration designs, such as multiple matrix sampling, flexi-level testing, and computerized adaptive testing. First, a concise introduction to the principles of IRT models is given. The models discussed pertain to dichotomous items (items that are scored as either correct or incorrect) and polytomous items (items with partial credit scoring, such as most types of openended questions and performance assessments). Second, it is shown how an IRT measurement model can be enhanced with a structural model, such as, for instance, an analysis of variance model, to relate data from achievement and ability tests to students’ background variables, such as socio-economic status, intelligence or cultural capital, to school variables, and to features of the schooling system. Two applications are presented. The first one pertains to equating and linking of assessments, and the second one to a combination of an IRT measurement model and a multilevel linear model useful in school effectiveness research.

Abstract:
This article presents the validation of Taufik & Ifdil Resilienci Inventory (TIRI) in the context of post-natural disasters and in Indonesian. The quantitative research tests validity of TIRI with Rasch model analysis, TIRI is used to measure the resilience of students affected by natural disasters by the number items 43 and developed by the Indonesian Institute for Counseling, Education and Therapy (IICET) research team which is coordinated by the Research Center (Universitas Negeri Padang). This research was conducted 3 trials/cycle, all respondents per cycle were spread in 6 regencies in Kota in Indonesia. Instrument resilience for victims of natural disasters is valid and reliable (person reliability 0.68 and item reliability 0.99) with a total 25 items (Raw variance explained by measures = 23.5% with expected values of 24.3%) valid from the total items of 43 items, that means items already represent measurements for the resilience of victims of natural disasters.

Abstract:
We present a realization of a didactic robot environment for robot PUMA 560 for educational and research purposes. Robot PUMA 560 is probably the mathematically best-described robot, and therefore it is frequently used for research and educational purposes. A developed control environment consists of a robot controller and teach pendant. The advantage of using a personally developed solution is its open structure, which allows various tests and measurements to be performed, and that is highly convenient for educational and research purposes. The motivation behind the design of this personal didactic robot control environment arose from a survey for students after the first Summer School on Mechatronic Systems. The student questionnaire revealed severe discrepancies between theory and practice in education. Even though the primary purpose of the new control environment for robot PUMA 560 was research, it was established that it is a viable lab resource that allows for the connection between theoretical and industrial robotics. It was used for the duration of four Summer Schools and university courses. Since then, it has been fully integrated into International Burch University’s Electrical and Electronics Engineering curriculum through several courses on the bachelor and master levels for multidisciplinary problem-based learning (PBL) projects.

Abstract:
Purpose of research. Comparative study of the cardiorespiratory activity and physical fitness of schoolchildren aged 13 to 16 years with chronic respiratory disorders and their healthy peers. Methods and organization of research. The research process included the following methods: analysis of scientific and methodological literature with subsequent systematization of data, pedagogical observation, functional tests, pedagogical testing, anthropometric measurements, and mathematical statistics. Research results and discussion. This article contains the findings of a study investigating cardiorespiratory system and physical fitness of both male and female schoolchildren aged 13 to 16 years with chronic respiratory disorders. We carried out a comparative analysis of the obtained indicators of studied children and their peers without health problems. We applied the functional tests determining the activity of cardiorespiratory system to identify adaptive capacities of children to physical exercise. We used special tests to assess physical fitness. The study revealed that the cardiorespiratory activity and physical fitness levels of schoolchildren with chronic respiratory disorders are lower than the same parameters of their peers without health problems. Conclusion. Educational research aimed at investigating the functional state of cardiorespiratory system and physical fitness of schoolchildren with chronic respiratory disorders and their healthy peers revealed that the indicators of cardiorespiratory activity of schoolchildren with chronic respiratory disorders are significantly lower than the same parameters of their healthy peers.

A universal, multifunctional system of environmental diagnostics of heat engines and boiler plants has been created, which allows one to determine indicators characterizing the chemical and physical effect of these objects on the environment: concentrations, mass, specific and average operational emissions of pollutants, noise, thermal pollution, vibration. This measuring system consists of instrumental, testing, demonstration and laboratory modules, which allows you to use it as a diagnostic tool, training and test bench and laboratory; as well as apply it in various fields: transport, energy, environmental and educational fields. The diagnostic system implements methods for monitoring and improving the accuracy of measurements of average operating emissions of pollutants: method for determining the resulting measurement errors of the average operational emissions of gaseous pollutants and particulate matter – GAS and РT indicators, which allows you to evaluate the impact on the data of the value of the errors of the measuring equipment of the diagnostic system; a method for increasing the accuracy of measurements of the normalized РT index by taking into account the methodological error of measurements of a given value due to the influence of the temperature of the sample in the tunnel on the measured emission of particulate matter - δРТt. Experimental studies of the diagnostic system and methods for increasing its accuracyon full-scale objects were carried out: diesel engines: tractor 4CHN12/14 tractor D65M, diesel locomotive diesel engine DEL-01 and boiler units: gas - DKVR-20/13 and AOGV-100E, solid fuel - KCHM-2M-4. Transport diesels were tested according to the cycles established by the UNECE Regulations R-49, R-96 and the international standard ISO-8178. As a result of tests of these engines, the coefficients KРi, KMgasi and KMрmi were determined, which are used to assess the accuracy of measurements of GAS and РT indicators, the resulting measurement errors of these values were investigated and the range of variation of the methodical error δРТt was determined.

Screening and diagnostic tests are used to classify people with and without a disease. Diagnostic accuracy measures are used to evaluate the correctness of a classification in clinical research and practice. Although this depends on the uncertainty of measurement, there has been limited research on their relation. The objective of this work was to develop an exploratory tool for the relation between diagnostic accuracy measures and measurement uncertainty, as diagnostic accuracy is fundamental to clinical decision-making, while measurement uncertainty is critical to quality and risk management in laboratory medicine. For this reason, a freely available interactive program was developed for calculating, optimizing, plotting and comparing various diagnostic accuracy measures and the corresponding risk of diagnostic or screening tests measuring a normally distributed measurand, applied at a single point in time in non-diseased and diseased populations. This is done for differing prevalence of the disease, mean and standard deviation of the measurand, diagnostic threshold, standard measurement uncertainty of the tests and expected loss. The application of the program is illustrated with a case study of glucose measurements in diabetic and non-diabetic populations. The program is user-friendly and can be used as an educational and research tool in medical decision-making.

In Colombia, the development of communicative skills of English as a foreign language in students of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) is considered as a priority so the professionals can face the challenges of a globalized world. This project aimed to determine the effectiveness of using CLIL approach through the academic subjects in first learning level students of a Nursing program. The research had a mixed quasi experimental design of a control group not equivalent with measurements before and after CLIL interventions, which consisted in accompanying and guidance to six teachers who instruct the seven subjects of the academic program in which the experimental group was. Along 17 applications designed from the 4C’s (Content, Cognition, Communication and Culture), and the methodology collaborative work, students showed a significant progress in using communicative and cognitive abilities according with the development performances. The used tests to evaluate students’ English level showed from the statistical data analysis, applying T-student test, that initiating the process the mean of the control group was significantly higher than the mean of the experimental group, and posteriorly to CLIL approach applications, a mean improvement of the experimental group was observed becoming statistically similar to the mean of the control group. The research results provide a pedagogical path to strengthen bilingualism processes and to contribute with graduate’s communicative competences in a foreign language.

Turning to the new educational paradigm, the research paper considers the conditions for ensuring the effective-ness of authentic assessment of students ' achievements within the competence approach and the transition from traditional knowledge control to tests developed on the basis of the theory of pedagogical measurements. Special attention is paid to independent assessment as a tool for stimulating learning activities, as well as to the justifica-tion of the pattern design method used in the develop-ment of measurement tools. The experimental basis of the study is based on the results of an independent assess-ment of educational achievements of students of the sen-ior level of secondary vocational education in social studies in several educational organizations. As a result of the survey of participants in independent testing, the formation of a stable positive learning motivation is not-ed. The relationship with the assessment of the impact on educational motivation is confirmed by the respondents ' attitude to the authentic assessment procedure on the part of participants in the assessment process: school-children, teachers, and parents. As a result, it was re-vealed that all subjects of the educational process evalu-ate the impact of the proposed method of assessment on educational motivation from a positive side.

This is done for differing sample sizes, mean and standard deviation of the measurand, diagnostic threshold and standard measurement uncertainty of the test. The application of the program is demonstrated with an illustrative example of glucose measurements in samples of diabetic and non-diabetic populations, that shows the calculation of the uncertainty of diagnostic accuracy measures. The presented interactive program is user-friendly and can be used as a flexible educational and research tool in medical decision-making, to calculate and explore the uncertainty of diagnostic accuracy measures.

Environmental citizenship is very important in sustainability research. The criticality of the observed environmental crisis requires capable and competent environmental citizens who can act as agents of change to achieve sustainability. This research presents the validation of the Environmental Citizenship Questionnaire (ECQ) for assessing the environmental citizenship of secondary school students. To this end, Principal Component Analysis has been performed through the use of a Confirmatory Factor Analysis. In addition, there has been a verification of sphericity and a measure of sampling adequacy using the Bartlett’s and Kaiser–Meyer–Olkin (KMO) tests, respectively. Cronbach’s Alpha, eigenvalues and percentage of variance as well as Pearson’s correlation were also estimated. Using the data of 520 students in 10th grade, the ECQ showed very good results in all measurements performed, demonstrating high internal consistency, reliability and discriminant validity. From the factor analysis were derived nine factors with 76 items in total. Cronbach’s Alpha was greater than 0.702, indicating high reliability in all factors. The possible contribution of the ECQ in different contexts and educational frames and in sustainability education is discussed.

Abstract:
Currently, there is great interest in the correlation between children’s physical activity and their academic performance. In this study, a pre-test/mid-test/post-test experimental strategy was used to avoid any disruption of educational activities, due to the random selection of children in each group. The experimental group was tested for eight months. We developed a methodology for innovative physical education classes and created a model of educational factors that encourage physical activity for children. The experimental group comprised 45 girls and 44 boys aged 6–7 years. The control group included 43 girls and 46 boys aged 6–7. Methods: Mathematical diagnostic progress tests were divided into two sections: tasks were allocated according to performance levels and the content as well as fields of activity and cognitive skills. The assessment of all areas of activity was based on student performance (unsatisfactory, satisfactory, basic, and advanced). Distribution of mathematical learning achievements by curriculum content: mathematical diagnosis was used to evaluate first-grade children’s mathematical knowledge and skills according to the five areas of the mathematics education curriculum: numbers and calculations; phenomena, equations, and inequalities; geometry, measures, and measurements; statistics and communication; and general problem-solving skills. The differences between the pre-test and mid-test results indicated that the number of children performing at a satisfactory level decreased (p = 0.035). The differences between the pre-test and post-test advanced (p = 0.038) and basic (p = 0.018) levels were found to be increased. Applying an innovative physical education program to first graders demonstrated a higher-level mathematics program in the areas of geometry, measures, and measurements; statistics; and communication and general problem-solving skills. Based on the interface between an innovative primary school physical education program and mathematics learning achievements, a research tool was developed that can be used in a quantitative research strategy.

This study aims to investigate the effects of proprioceptive exercise programme given to female football players on their balance, proprioceptive sense and functional performance. 27 female licenced footballers in Balıkesir who had been training regularly for 5 years were included in the research. The footballers were divided into two groups- namely, 14 educational groups. The two-step pre-test and post-test method of the athletes was performed on. Accordingly, on day one bodily weight, height measurements were made. On day two athletes’ static balance and proprioceptive sense measurements were made. On day three the athletes were asked to have a rest. On day four they were given 5, 10 and 20- metre speed and agility tests (Illinois, T test). On day five, the participants were given vertical jump tests. On day six the athletes in the educational group were given a 6-week, 3 days a week proprioceptive exercise programme in addition to their routine training programme. At the end of week 6, the 5-day measurements were repeated and the activity was terminated.
 Data analysis, Wilcoxon test was performed to analyse the changes occurring in the pre-test and post-test measurements in the control and the educational groups. The paired comparisons between the groups were made through Mann-Whitney U test. The findings demonstrated that there were significant differences in the pre-test-post-test and static balance scores of the female footballers in the educational group who were given proprioceptive educational programme (p<0.05) and that there were partially significant differences in their proprioceptive sense scores. In the control group, however, no significant differences were found in static balance scores and in the values of proprioceptive sense footballers in the educational group and the footballers in the control group in terms of their vertical jump and speed scores (p>0.05). An examination of the agility tests of the educational group indicated that there were statistically significant differences (p<0.05). Yet, no significant differences were found in the values of the agility tests of the control group (p>0.05). In conclusion, it may be stated that giving proprioceptive programme to female footballers is influential in improving their static balance and agility performance, that it had partially positive effects on proprioceptive sense and that it does not cause significant improvement in their vertical jumping and speed performance.

 Bu çalışma kadın futbolculara uygulanan proprioseptif egzersiz programının, denge, proprioseptif duyu ve fonksiyonel performans üzerine etkisini araştırmak amacı ile yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya, Balıkesir’de futbol lisansına sahip ve son 5 yıl düzenli olarak antrenman yapan 27 kadın futbolcu katıldı. Futbolcular 14 eğitim ve 13 kontrol grubu olarak iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Sporcuların iki basamaklı ön test-son test yöntemi kullanılarak parametreleri alındı. Çalışmamızda; 1. Gün; Sporculara vücut ağırlığı, boy uzunluğu ölçümleri yapıldı. 2. Gün; Sporculara statik denge, proprioseptif duyu ölçümleri yapıldı. 3. Gün; Sporcuların dinlenmeleri istendi. 4. Gün; Sporculara 5, 10, 20 metre hız ve çeviklik (illinois, T testleri) yapıldı. 5. Gün; Sporculara dikey sıçrama testleri yapıldı. 6. Gün eğitim grubundaki sporculara rutin antrenman programlarına ek olarak 6 hafta sürecek şekilde haftada 3 gün proprioseptif egzersiz programını uygulandı. Kontrol grubun ise normal günlük yaşantı ve antrenman programlarına 6 hafta devam etmeleri sağlandı. 6 hafta sonunda yine 5 gün süren ölçümler aynen tekrar edildi ve çalışma sonlandırıldı. Verierin analizinde, kontrol ve eğitim gruplarının ön test ve son test ölçümlerinde meydana gelen değişimleri incelemek için Wilcoxon testi yapıldı. Gruplar arası ikili karşılaştırmalar Mann-Whitney U testi ile yapıldı. Elde edilen bulgulara göre; proprioseptif eğitim programı uygulanan eğitim grubu kadın futbolcuların ön test-son test, statik denge skorlarında anlamlı farklılığın olduğu (p<0.05), proprioseptif duyu skorlarında kısmen anlamlı farklılığın olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kontrol grubundaki futbolcuların ise statik denge skorları ve proprioseptif duyu değerleri için istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamamıştır. Eğitim grubu ve kontrol grubundaki futbolcuların dikey sıçrama ve hız değerleri için istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamamıştır (p>0,05). Eğitim grubu çeviklik testleri değerlerine baktığımızda istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Kontrol grubu çeviklik testleri değerleri için ise istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamamıştır (p>0,05). Sonuç olarak, kadın futbolcularda, proprioseptif eğitim programı uygulamasının statik denge ve çeviklik performansını iyileştirmede etkili olduğu, proprioseptif duyuya kısmen olumlu düzeyde etki ettiği, dikey sıçrama ile hız performanslarında ise anlamlı düzeyde iyileşmenin olmadığı söylenebilir.

This study discusses educational evaluations that focus on the characteristics of excellent tests. Evaluation has an important role in the success of learning, and one way to do evaluation is by testing. If the quality of evaluation activities is good, the resulting data can be used to decide about students and to improve the curriculum. Conversely, if the evaluation is of inferior quality, it will mislead decision makers. Therefore, an excellent test is important to know to improve the quality of evaluation. The research method used is qualitative research using the library research method, by collecting related documents, appropriate and valid data. Then analyzed and criticized by being critically indicated ​​the existing discourses to present a research result. The results of the study show that the characteristics of an excellent test are: 1) Validity, the measuring instrument can calculate what is being measured or revealed through the test. 2) Reliability, the results of measurements made using the test repeated on the same subject the results remain the same or are stable in the group. 3) Objectivity, meaning that in carrying out the test there are no subjective factors that influence mainly in the score system. 4) Practices, both practicality related to the implementation and ease of examination. 5) Economical, does not spend a lot of cost, energy and a lot of time. However, all efforts made to present excellent tests must be accompanied by the seriousness of the educator in evaluating the next stage, such as the measurement and assessment process. So that the data generated accurately and evaluation can help develop the learning process under the purpose of the evaluation.

Purpose Research comparing different biofeedback types could lead to individualized treatments for those with residual speech errors. This study examines within-treatment response to ultrasound and visual-acoustic biofeedback, as well as generalization to untrained words, for errors affecting the American English rhotic /ɹ/. We investigated whether some children demonstrated greater improvement in /ɹ/ during ultrasound or visual-acoustic biofeedback. Each participant received both biofeedback types. Individual predictors of treatment response (i.e., age, auditory-perceptual skill, oral somatosensory skill, and growth mindset) were also explored. Method Seven children ages 9–16 years with residual rhotic errors participated in 10 treatment visits. Each visit consisted of two conditions: 45 min of ultrasound biofeedback and 45 min of visual-acoustic biofeedback. The order of biofeedback conditions was randomized within a single-case experimental design. Acquisition of /ɹ/ was evaluated through acoustic measurements (normalized F3–F2 difference) of selected nonbiofeedback productions during practice. Generalization of /ɹ/ was evaluated through acoustic measurements and perceptual ratings of pretreatment/posttreatment probes. Results Five participants demonstrated acquisition of practiced words during the combined treatment package. Three participants demonstrated a clinically significant degree of generalization to untreated words on posttreatment probes. Randomization tests indicated one participant demonstrated a significant advantage for visual-acoustic over ultrasound biofeedback. Participants' auditory-perceptual acuity on an /ɹ/−/w/ identification task was identified as a possible correlate of generalization following treatment. Conclusions Most participants did not demonstrate a statistically significant difference in acoustic productions between the ultrasound and visual-acoustic conditions, but one participant showed greater improvement in /ɹ/ during visual-acoustic biofeedback. Visual perceptual skills are important skills for an adult to carry out their daily activities such as reading, writing and driving, successfully. This study was conducted to determine the visual perceptual skills (non-motor) of a group of adults in Selangor, Malaysia. A total of 120 subjects from Selangor with the age ranging from 20 to 59 years were randomly recruited in this cross-sectional study. This study involved distance and near visual acuity measurements using Snellen chart and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) near vision chart, cognitive screening tests using the Mini Mental State Examination questionnaire (MMSE) as well as visual perceptual skills assessment (non-motor) using the Test of Visual Perceptual Skills (Non-Motor)- Revised (TVPS-R). The mean age of the subjects was 39.41+11.81 years old. Results showed that the mean standard scored obtained for Visual Discrimination (VD), Visual Memory (VM), Visual-Spatial Relationships (VSR), Visual Form Constancy (VFC), Visual Sequential Memory (VSM), Visual Figure-Ground (VFG) and Visual Closure (VC) subtests were 14.12+1.10, 13.42+1.58, 14.53+1.26, 12.47+1.03, 12.35+2.26, 13.67+1.64 and 13.73+2.23, respectively. Analysis of ANOVA shows that the VD, VM, and VSM scores are influenced by educational level (p<0.05). Pearson correlation showed a significant negative correlation between all the sub-tests of TVPS-R scores with age variation (p<0.05) except the VFC. Linear regression showed significant negative relationship between VD, VM, VSR and VSM with age. This research provided normative data of TVPS-R test on Malaysian adults for future reference and study.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of distance learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in the management of English learning and to improve student achievement at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques through interviews and observations. The research subjects were English teachers and deputy principals of SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta. The results of the study are as follows. First, English education planning is prepared based on subjects, competency standards, basic competencies, learning objectives, teaching modules, procedures, time allocation, learning activities, learning resources/equipment, and evaluation of distance education students' learning outcomes during the Covid- 19. Second, the implementation of education that the teacher is trying has been guided by the latest updated syllabus and online learning implementation plan. English teachers have practised innovative education during the Covid-19 pandemic, such as Google Classroom, Zoom, WhatsApp, and many more. Distance learning that the teacher applies is to open lessons, deliver modules or teaching materials two days before learning activities occur, and discuss learning with students where learning is student-centred. The educational process places more emphasis on the cognitive and psychomotor domains. Third, learning assessment uses pre-test and post-test when online education takes place. The evaluation method used in learning applies direct observation, carries out tests/exercises at the end of the lesson so that the teacher knows the weaknesses and measurements of each student. Learning support facilities at Muhammadiyah 3 High School Yogyakarta are equipped with a language laboratory to facilitate the implementation of learning English more effectively.

Today, people have increasingly demanded more from the state and enterprises. Consumer satisfaction is not an organizational option, but rather a matter of survival for any institution. The quest for measurement of consumer satisfaction has been ongoing in many areas of research, and researchers have concentrated efforts to demonstrate the psychometric quality of their measurements. However, the techniques employed by these commitments have not kept pace with the advances in psychometric theory and methods. The Item Response Theory (IRT) is an approach used for assessing latent trait. It is commonly used in educational and psychological tests and provides additional information beyond that obtained from classic psychometric techniques. This article presents a model of cumulative application of item response theory to measure the extent of students' satisfaction with their courses by creating a measurement scale. The Graded Response Model was used. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of this theory in measuring satisfaction since it places both items as individuals on the same scale. This theory may be valuable in the evaluation of customer satisfaction and many other organizational phenomena. The findings may help the decision maker of an enterprise with the correction of flows, processes, and procedures, and, consequently, it may help generate increased efficiency and effectiveness in daily tasks and in event management business. Finally, the information obtained from the analysis can play a role in the development and/or evaluation of institutional planning.

OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: Objective: The Rockefeller University Center for Clinical and Translational Science (RU-CCTS), Clinical Directors Network (CDN), and Carter Burden Network (CBN), a multisite senior services organization serving East Harlem, NY, formed a community-academic partnership to examine the use of a simple validated surrogate measure of overall health status and frailty in this population. Many CBN seniors are racial/ethnic minorities, low-income, and suffer from multiple chronic conditions, depression and food insecurity. Multiple biological, musculoskeletal, psychosocial and nutritional factors contribute to frailty, which has been defined variously in senior health outcomes research. The CTSA-funded Pilot Project aims to: (1) Engage CBN seniors and stakeholders in priority-setting, joint protocol development, research conduct, analysis, and dissemination; (2) Characterize the health status of the CBN seniors using validated measures; (3) Establish database infrastructure for current and future research; (4) Understand how health and senior activities information can be used to create programs to improve senior health. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Methods: (1) CEnR-Navigation, a collaborative program/process that consists of semistructured meetings and activities facilitated by expert Navigators, was used for partnership development and to engage Carter Burden seniors to refine priorities and research questions, provide feedback on study design and conduct, and analyze and disseminate results. (2) Standard physical measurements and validated survey instruments were used to collect health information; target enrollment is 240 seniors across 2 sites (1 hosted within a subsidized housing facility and Social Model Adult Day Program). (3) A REDCap-based platform was designed for data capture and import. Individual attendance at senior activities for the prior year was extracted from existing records. The primary outcome is frailty, as measured by validated walk/balance tests (Short Physical Performance Battery). Secondary outcomes include measures of engagement, and association of use of services/activities with the primary outcome. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: (1) In total, 29 residents and 14 other stakeholders engaged in partnership-building, study design and implementation. (2) From May to November 2017, 98 participants were enrolled from site 1 (a residential site). Enrollment at site 2 (a senior center), begun in November, is projected for February completion. Characteristics of site 1 participants: median age=63.6 years; Hispanic, 44.90% (44); White, 13.89% (10), Black, 62.50% (45); Asian, 4.17% (3); American Indian or Alaskan Native, 2.78% (2), and Other, 16.67% (12). Educational attainment: 51.04% (49) had not completed high school; 19.79% (19) were high school graduates; 18.75% (18) completed some college, and 10.42% (10) were college graduates. For the 85 participants reporting annual income: 64.71% (55) reported <$10,000; 28.24% (24) reported $10,000–$15,000; 7.06% (6) were among the ranges from $15,000 to $50,000. The average body mass index (BMI) was 30, which is obese. For 83.67% (82) of site 1 participants, the BMI was in the range of overweight or obese. Half of participants (49) reported health literacy barriers in the Single Item Health Literacy Survey. Demographics and Frailty assessments (walk and balance tests) for participants enrolled at both sites will be reported. (3) Activity participation data for July 2016–November 2017 were recovered for 507 sessions at site 1 and are being analyzed. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: Here we report progress in developing a sustainable community-academic partnership, infrastructure and research capacity with the CBN senior services organization, and characterizing this at-risk population, of whom 71% have a high school education or less, 93% live in extreme poverty, and 84% are overweight or obese. A simple validated frailty measure in seniors will enable the acceleration of community-based translational research addressing senior health, and examine changes in this measure in relationship to the utilization of senior services.

Introduction: Currently there are four commercially available oral anti-Xa agents namely apixaban, betrixaban, edoxaban and rivaroxaban available for indication specific clinical use. All agents used are at a fixed dosage and their use may be associated with potential hemorrhagic complications. Although factor Xa inhibitory effect is considered to be a surrogate marker for the biologic action of these drugs we have demonstrated that factor Xa inhibitory profile of apixaban, betrixaban, edoxaban, and rivaroxaban does not fully reflect their biologic spectrum (https://doi.org/10.1177/1076029619847524). Furthermore the prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplatin time (aPTT) methods are of limited sensitivity and are dependant on several other enodogenous factors. Prothrombinase induced clotting time (PiCT), (Pentaharm, Basel, Switzerland) is a sensitive test for the global monitoring of anticoagulant drugs including heparins and parenteral oral anti-Xa and anti-IIa agents. The test is based on the RVV venom activation of endogenous FVa which forms prothrombinase complex with phospholipids (PL), FXa and calcium. The clot-based end point is proportional to the activities of FXa and FIIa. This study is designed to compare the relative responses of PT, aPTT and PiCT test in normal human blood, retrieved plasma and agents supplemented plasma with the oral anti-Xa agents to demonstrate the relative sensitivity of this assay in comparison to the PT and aPTT. Materials and Methods: Active pharmaceutical ingredient versions of apixaban, betrixaban, edoxaban and rivaroxaban were obtained from commercial sources. All agents were prepared at a stock concentration of 100ug/ml in saline and diluted to a working solution of 10ug/ml. Serial dilutions were prepared in various matrices. Citrated plasma from normal individuals (n=50) was obtained from a commercial source (George King Biomedical, Overland Park, Kansas). Whole blood and plasma samples (n=20) were supplemented at a concentration of 0-1000 ng/ml. Whole blood samples were also centrifuged to obtain retrieved plasma. These samples were analyzed using a single stage PiCT, aPTT and PT. Whole blood and retrieved plasma studies were carried out by using ST4 (Diagnostica Stago). PiCT were measured by using Pefakit PiCT. aPTT measurements were made by using Tcoag, TriniCLOT aPTT (Diagnostica Stago, Paris, France). For PT, HemosIL TM (Instrumentation Laboratory, MA, USA) was used. All results were compiled in individual groups as mean + SD. Results: All of these drugs produced a concentration dependent anticoagulant effects in the PiCT, aPTT and PT tests in both the whole blood and plasma systems. PiCT consistently showed much higher sensitivity in comparison to other tests. When compared at 1000ng/ml the anticoagulant effects of these drugs were stronger in plasma systems as shown in the table. PiCT consistently showed higher sensitivity in comparison to PT and aPTT in the whole blood, retrieved plasma and agent supplemented plasma. Edoxaban showed the strongest anticoagulant activity measured by PiCT in comparison to the other agents. Matrix based variations in the PiCT results were observed. Interestingly, the retrieved plasma from whole blood showed weaker anticoagulant effects in comparison to the directly supplemented plasma systems. Discussion: In comparison to PT and aPTT, the PiCT test was found to be the most sensitive in the three matrices studied. In the whole blood and plasma-based systems PiCT test showed linearity and high sensitivity for all of the four anti-Xa agents. In the PiCT test, consistently drug supplemented plasma showed the highest response in comparison to retrieved plasma and whole blood, suggesting differential binding of these drugs to cells. These results indicate that the PiCT test can be reliably used for the monitoring of anti-Xa agents. PiCT test can also be performed on currently available optical and mechanical instrument used for clotting studies. Owing to rapid turnaround time, high sensitivity, and lower cost PiCT can be used for the routine monitoring of oral anti-Xa agents. Модернизация педагогического профессионального образования предполагает его адаптацию к изменившимся социально-экономическим и государственно-политическим условиям развития России и освоение опыта модернизации образовательной сферы, накопленного другими странами. В современной образовательной организации информационно-коммуникационная инфраструктура – один из главных компонентов образовательного процесса, обладающая широким диапазоном дидактических электронно-образовательных ресурсов (ЭОР) в качестве практико-ориентированной тактики оптимизации образовательного процесса. Цель – определение подходов повышения эффективности образовательного процесса на основе применения электронных тренажеров в подготовке будущих специалистов. Материал и методы. Основными источниками концептуальной разработки принципиально нового ЭОР-образовательного контента педагогического инструментария и инновационных форм его освоения являлись опыт профессиональной подготовки обучающихся СПО ГПБОУ «Южно-Уральский государственный технический колледж», бакалавров и магистрантов Профессионально-педагогического института ФГБОУ ВО «Южно-Уральский государственный гуманитарно-педагогический университет» по направлению подготовки 44.04.44 Профессиональное обучение в рамках профиля «Управление информационной безопасностью в профессиональной образовательной организации»; процесс интегративного задействования работодателей в разработках медиаконтента электронных тренажеров (ЭТ); практический опыт формирования практико-ориентированных профессиональных компетенций обучающихся. Основными методами исследования выступили теоретический анализ опубликованных в научной литературе материалов по проблеме интеграционной реализации ЭОР-обеспечения качественной реализации регламента Федерального государственного образовательного стандарта 3++ профессионального обучения бакалавров и магистрантов. Результаты и обсуждение. Проанализированы материалы публикаций по проблеме приведения к современным потребностям рынка труда профессионального образования, основные затруднения которого связаны с довольно сложной его внутренней семантикой, включающей несколько значимых уровней иерархии и связи между разными типами очень разобщенной информации. С позиций теории надежности без научно обоснованного подхода к разработкам в рамках квалиметрической цифровизации на основе использования ресурсов различных контент-платформ и кроссплатформенных шаблонов ЭОР надеяться на получение обнадеживающих результатов практически невозможно. Особая роль в свете нередко вынужденного применения дистанционного обучения принадлежит такому педагогическому инструментарию, как ЭТ, предназначенному для взаимосвязанного выполнения трех основных функций – диагностической, обучающей, воспитательной – при отработке практических умений и навыков обучающихся, формирования у них навыков действий моторно-рефлекторного и когнитивного типа в сложных ситуациях. Реализация на базе плагина CodeRunner (версия 3.3.0) для Moodle многопользовательского ЭТ для обеспечения качественного формирования универсальных и общепрофессиональных компетенций позволила выявить, что использование ЭТ способствует росту учебных достижений обучающихся на, по меньшей мере, 15 %. При этом, кроме повышения средних значений показателей учебных достижений обучающихся, зафиксировано увеличение на 18 % и их медианных характеристик, т. е. соответствующее уменьшение доли обучающихся с выбором неверных дескрипторов в ответах на вопросы контрольных тестов. Проанализированы тенденции применения ЭОР для повышения практико-ориентированной составляющей компоненты профессионального образования. Одним из направлений в свете нередко вынужденной дистанционной формы обучения является применение медиаконтента ЭТ, предназначенных для формирования навыков действий моторно-рефлекторного и когнитивного типа в сложных ситуациях, понимания сущности протекающих процессов на основе взаимосвязанного выполнения трех основных функций – диагностической, обучающей, воспитательной при отработке практических умений и навыков обучающихся. Заключение. Ресурсные возможности верификации вариантов архитектур контент-платформ и кроссплатформенных шаблонов такого педагогического инструментария ЭОР, как ЭТ, а также инновационных форм их освоения и внедрения позволяют надеяться на получение обнадеживающих результатов поиска путей повышения эффективности образовательного процесса профессиональных образовательных организаций (ПОО), своевременного нивелирования противоречий между требованиями работодателей современного постиндустриального общества и уровнем сформированности профессиональных компетенций выпускников ПОО. Introduction. The need to modernize the educational process in Russia is undeniable. Modernization of pedagogical professional education involves its adaptation to the changed socio-economic and state-political conditions of Russia’s development and the development of the experience of modernization of the educational sphere accumulated by other countries. In a modern educational organization, information and communication infrastructure is one of the main components of the educational process, which has a wide range of didactic electronic educational resources (ESR) as a practice-oriented tactic for optimizing the educational process. The aim is to identify approaches to improving the efficiency of the educational process based on the use of electronic simulators in the training of future specialists. Material and methods. The main sources of the conceptual design of fundamentally new e-learning resources-educational content, pedagogical tools and innovative forms of its development was the experience of professional training of students of “South Ural State Technical College”, bachelor and master degree students of Professional Pedagogical Institute of Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University in the direction of training 44.04.44 Vocational training in the framework of the specialty “Information Security Management in Professional Educational Institutions”; the process of integrative involvement of employers in the development of electronic media simulators; practical experience of forming practice-oriented professional competences of students. The main methods of research are theoretical analysis of the published material on the integration of the implementation of the ESM-ensure high-quality implementation of the regulations of the federal state educational standards 3 ++ for professional training of bachelors and undergraduates. Results and discussion. We have analyzed the materials of publications on the problem of bringing professional education to the modern needs of the labor market, the main difficulties of which are associated with its rather complex internal semantics, including several significant levels of hierarchy and connections between different types of very fragmented information that is not acceptable enough for making effective decisions, including in the conditions of forced use of distance learning. From the standpoint of reliability theory, it is almost impossible to hope for encouraging results without a scientifically-based approach to development within the framework of qualimetric digitalization based on the use of resources from various content platforms and cross-platform ERM templates. A special role in the light of the often forced use of distance learning belongs to such pedagogical tools as an electronic simulator (ES), designed for the interrelated performance of three main functions-diagnostic, training, and educational-when working out practical skills of students, forming their skills of motor-reflex and cognitive actions in difficult situations, understanding the essence of the processes and their mutual dependence. Implementation on the basis of CodeRunner plugin (V3.3.0) for Moodle multiplayer FLOOR in the provision of quality of formation of universal and professional competencies of vocational education students in these areas has allowed to reveal that the use of ES contributes to the growth of educational achievements of students, at least 15 %, which, in turn, affects the increase of the level (degree) of the formation of their competence, predetermining improving the efficiency of the educational process, improvement of its constituent elements. Thus in addition to increasing the average educational achievements of students still recorded an increase of 18 % and median characteristics, then there is a corresponding decrease in the proportion of students with high handles in replies to questions of control tests. Effective modernization of the educational process of pedagogical professional education, in our opinion, largely depends on the integrative implementation of the use of innovative platforms of various architectures and cross-platform templates of EOR-educational content of pedagogical tools, based within the framework of the modern teaching paradigm on the conceptual provisions and methods of pedagogy, measurements, mathematical modeling and scientific and analytical statistics of the qualimetric approach. The article analyzes the trends in the use of electronic educational resources (EER) to improve the practice-oriented component of the component of professional education. One of the directions in the light of often forced distance learning is the use of media content of electronic simulators (ES), designed to form the skills of motor-reflex and cognitive actions in complex situations, understanding the essence of the processes on the basis of the interrelated performance of three main functions-diagnostic, training, educational in the development of practical skills of students. Conclusion. The resource capabilities of verifying the variants of content platform architectures and cross-platform templates of such educational tools of EOR as ES, as well as innovative forms of their development and implementation, allow us to hope for encouraging results in finding ways to improve the efficiency of the educational process of professional educational organizations (VET), timely leveling of the contradiction between the requirements of employers of the modern post-industrial society and the level of formation of professional competencies of VET graduates.

Abstract:
This work presents luminance distributions across the surface of mid- and high-power diodes. The changes in luminance on diode surfaces following changes in the observation angle were verified. On the basis of the conducted tests, non-uniform luminance distribution on LED surface for diverse observation angles (including the axial direction) was observed. Moreover, it was concluded that luminance changes is not in line with the Lambert’s law. As the result of the research it was also concluded that alterations of the power-supply conditions do not exert any significant impact on the gradient of luminance changes on the surfaces of examined LEDs. Abstract:
Patients with transfusion-dependent β-thalassaemia (TDT) require regular red blood cell (RBC) transfusions to treat anaemia, with regular monitoring and obligatory iron chelation therapy to address inevitable iron overload. We conducted a retrospective chart review with cross-sectional patient and caregiver surveys in 9 National Health Service (NHS) centres across the United Kingdom (UK) to evaluate routine management of TDT, and patient and caregiver health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Eligible patients had a documented diagnosis of TDT (index event) ≥2 years prior to data collection. The observation period was the 2-5 year period prior to data collection or death. Patient-reported outcomes (PRO) were completed at enrolment, including EuroQoL EQ-5D, Work Productivity and Activity Impairment (WPAI), and disease-specific TranQoL. The primary endpoint was the number of blood transfusion episodes per patient per year. A total of 165 patients were included (median age at data collection 24.1 [interquartile range (IQR) 11.8-37.2] years; 50% (n=82) male; one patient was deceased); 135 patients completed ≥1 PRO questionnaire; 37 caregivers completed caregiver questionnaires. Median age at index event was 1.0 (IQR 0.5-8.0) years and median disease duration was 11.6 (IQR 6.4-21.7) years. The most commonly recorded comorbidities (n=156 patients, at start of observation period) included hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism (20% [n=31]), vitamin D deficiency (16% [n=25]) and osteoporosis (14% [n=22]). Twenty percent (n=31) were splenectomised. During a mean observation period of 4.7 (standard deviation [SD] 0.7) years, patients had a mean of 13.5 (SD 3.6) transfusion episodes per year (79% had ≥12 per year) and a median of 32.4 (IQR 25.3-37.7) units transfused per year. Mean pre-transfusion haemoglobin (Hb, from 8041 tests) was 99.1 (SD 10.0) g/L; patients had a mean of 10.3 (SD 5.0) Hb tests per year. Median age at initiation of chelation therapy (n=91) was 2.9 (IQR 1.8-12.1) years. All patients received ≥1 iron chelator during the observation period, including deferasirox (80% [n=132]), desferrioxamine (52% [n=85]), deferiprone (35% [n=57]) or combination therapies (20% [n=33]). At data collection 161 patients were receiving chelators. Patients had a mean of 10.7 (SD 4.3) serum ferritin (SF) measurements/year; median SF closest to data collection was 1792.0 (IQR 997.0-2883.0) ng/ml (≤1000 ng/ml [25%, n=42]; >1000≤2500 ng/ml [39%, n=64]; >2500 ng/ml [36%, n=59]). Median interval between liver iron concentration (LIC) tests was 1.9 (IQR 1.3-2.5) years; median R2 LIC closest to data collection (n=120) was 5.4 (IQR 2.9-11.5) mg/g (<7 mg/g [61%, n=73]; 7<15 mg/g [23%, n=28]; ≥15 mg/g [16%, n=19]). Median interval between cardiac MRI was 2.5 (IQR 1.7-5.0) years; median T2* cardiac iron closest to data collection (n=132) was 30.3 (IQR 22.0-37.1) ms (>20 ms [80%, n=105]; 10-20 ms [11%, n=14]; <10 ms [10%, n=13]).. PRO and caregiver questionnaire results are shown in Table 1. Mean EQ-5D utility score for adult patients (≥16 years, n=94) was 0.69 (SD 0.33; individual domain scores: mobility [n=97] 58% no problems, 42% some problems; self-care [n=98] 79% no problems, 21% some problems; usual activities [n=95] 48% no problems, 42% some problems, 9% unable to perform; pain/discomfort [n=98] 43% none, 46% moderate, 11% extreme; and anxiety [n=98] 62% none, 33% moderate, 5% extreme). Median (IQR) WPAI domain scores for adult patients (≥18 years) included work productivity loss (n=44) of 38% (23-60%) and activity impairment (n=88) of 50% (20-80%); caregivers reported median (IQR) work productivity loss (n=13) of 30% (25-55%) and activity impairment (n=29) of 30% (10-50%). Mean TranQoL score for adult patients (≥18 years, n=94) was 58.6 (SD 18.4). These results offer insights into the real-world management of patients with TDT in the UK NHS, and the burden placed on patients, caregivers and healthcare resources. In general patients appear to have been well managed; however, a subset of patients suffer severe liver- and cardiac-iron loading, the latter being associated with significant mortality risk. All patients received chelation therapy, and 20% of patients required combination chelation therapy. The impact of the disease on the patient/caregiver should not be underestimated as evidenced by the PRO data. Abstract:
The progress of science is discontinuous. However, accepting the dynamic nature of science, most of us have experienced the point of research crossroads when it was hard to choose the correct path. In 1962 Thomas Samuel Kuhn published his controversial book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions introducing the term “paradigm shift” raising the idea that progress isn't a continuous accumulation, but rather a revolutionary process where brand new ideas are adopted and old ideas are abandoned. Without trying to accept or argue philosphical aspects, today we experience a rapidly growing amount of research in ophthalmology. The goal of the current evidence-based approach in medicine is to optimize everyday clinical practice based on comprehensive research. However, results coming from the basic sciences sometimes may not be directly applicableto an individual patient. The latest developments, scientific achievements and research in ophthalmology steer to the exciting new perspective based on a multidisciplinary approach. Bringing together scientists whose expertise encompasses ophthalmology, physiology, mathematics, physics and engineering and who explore different aspects of the same problems empowering to make scientific progress. Can ophthalmologists think mathematically? Is it possible to provide a quantitative representation of the biophysical processes in the eye? Application of objective scientific methods and subjective perspectives can open up a wide range of educational and professional opportunities leading to a better understanding of the pathogenesis and the natural course of the disease, progression and new ways of treatment. Introducing the 2nd issue of Journal for Modeling in Ophthalmology, we hope the reader will enjoy both clinical and theoretical insights on glaucoma in short papers that followed the International Congress on Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Glaucoma (ICATTG15) held in Milan (Italy), October 29-31, 2015 (http://www.icatto.com/archive/icattg2015/). Normal tension glaucoma is a particularly difficult type of glaucoma both in terms of diagnosis and treatment. M. Iester pointed out that different types of glaucoma exist and are probably based on the presence of different risk factors. The cut-off value of 21 mmHg is not used anymore to differentiate healthy subjects from glaucoma patients. The paper by L. Quaranta et al analyses the rationale for IOP measurements throughout the 24-hour cycle. IOP is not a static number; rather, it exhibits time-dependent variations that can reach up to 6 mmHg over a 24-hour period in healthy eyes, and even more in eyes with glaucoma2-5. Regarding 24-hour IOP characteristics, only IOP peak was correlated to visual field progression, while 24-hour IOP fluctuation was not an independent risk factor6. Indeed, 24-hour mean, peak and fluctuation were all associated and a strong correlation was found between mean and peak IOP, and between fluctuation and peak IOP. Mean IOP is a strong predictor of glaucomatous damage. A desired therapeutic target is therefore a uniform reduction of IOP throughout the 24 hours. A reliable method of continuous IOP measurement would be desirable, making 24-hour IOP phasing easier and opening new pathways for research. Interestingly, the papers by M. Szopos M et al and A. Mauri et al lead to new perspectives of mathematical modeling of aqueous humor flow and intraocular pressure towards individualized glaucoma management. M. Szopos et al aimed to provide both a qualitative description and a quantitative assessment of how variations in aqueous humor flow parameters influence IOP and the outcome of IOP lowering medications. They developed a mathematical model that described the steady state value of IOP as the result of the balance between aqueous humor production and drainage and performing stochastic simulations to assess the influence of different factors on the IOP distribution in ocular normotensive and ocular hypertensive subjects and also on the IOP reduction following medications. This model may help identify patient specific factors that influence the efficacy of IOP lowering medications and aid the development of novel, effective, and individualized therapeutic approaches to glaucoma management. A. Mauri et al. theoretically analyzed new aspects of electro-fluid dynamics of aqueous humor production. The connection between HCO3, Na+ and topical medications in the regulation of aqueous humor production is still controversial and difficult to study experimentally by trying to isolate the role of a single electrolyte in regulating aqueous humor production. The use of a mathematical model appeared to be a promising approach to help unravel such a connection through simulation and comparison of different predicted scenarios. Groups of authors from Indianapolis and Milan universities contributed to glaucoma progression analysis. K. Hutchins et al paper on clinical evaluation of baseline characteristics predictive of structural and functional progression in open angle glaucoma patients with different demographic characteristics aimed to examine ocular blood flow parameters that may predict structural and functional disease progression in open angle glaucoma patients of different diabetic status, gender, ethnicity, and body mass index. D. Messenio et al. evaluated the variations of IOP, morphometric papillary characteristics, perimetric indices and electrophysiological parameters before and after topical IOP lowering therapy in patients with suspect normal tension glaucoma. They showed that electrophysiological tests could provide a more sensitive measure of retinal ganglion cell integrity and help distinguish between suspect normal-pressure glaucoma patients before perimetric alterations are evident and normal subjects with apparent larger disc cupping. Over the past decades, color Doppler imaging (CDI) has gained popularity as a reliable tool to measure blood flow in a variety of vascular beds throughout the body. The use of CDI to measure blood flow parameters in retrobulbar vessels has become very common. L. Carichino et al introduced a computer-aided identification of novel ophthalmic artery waveform parameters. The computed-aided analysis of ophthalmic artery velocity waveforms obtained via CDI were able to distinguish arterial waveform parameters values between healthy subjects and glaucoma patients, as well as between gender. Authors foresee further studies investigating the potential to predict severity and progression of glaucoma. An interesting contribution by S. Cassani et al on theoretical predictions of metabolic flow regulation in the retina aims to better understand the regulating mechanisms in health and disease. This study used a theoretical model to investigate the response of retinal blood flow to changes in tissue oxygen demand. The increase in blood flow predicted by the model due to an increase in oxygen demand was not in the same proportion as the change in blood flow observed with the same decrease in oxygen demand, suggesting that vascular regulatory mechanisms may respond differently to different levels of oxygen demand. Several studies have suggested an association between vascular factors and glaucoma7-11. Several epidemiological studies demonstrated the influence of ocular perfusion pressure on the prevalence, incidence and progression of glaucoma12. Ocular perfusion pressure refers to the pressure available to drive blood through the intraocular vasculature, with the degree of perfusion being influenced by the resistance to flow, which is a function of the vessel caliber or the vessel tone 13. While it seems a very complex parameter, A. Guglielmi et al utilized statistical techniques and analysis to show that it is the joint effect of IOP, ocular perfusion pressure and blood pressure, or, more precisely, of all the covariates in the selected logistic model, that determines the probability of disease, rather than the value of an individual covariate. Importantly, the main statistical interest should be the prediction of disease probabilities for new patients entering the study, presenting specific values of the covariates included in the model, rather than the estimated individual effect of a single predictor. It has been shown that glaucoma, proliferative vitreoretinopathy, posterior capsule opacification, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, pterygium and keratoconus have been associated with modulation of Transforming Growth Factor beta (TGF-β) protein expression14-20. Therapeutic intervention targeting TGF-β2 protein expression may have multifold effects on relevant intraocular tissues such as trabecular meshwork (cell invasion/migration), retina (scarring and wound-healing processes) and/or optic nerve head (neuroprotection), and warrant further evaluation in patients suffering advanced glaucoma and undergoing trabeculectomy. Hasenbach K et al. used a murine model of glaucoma filtration surgery to evaluate the effect of intraocular ISTH0036 administration. They showed that treatment with ISTH0036 resulted in prolonged bleb survival and decreased scarring (downregulation of collagen 1 and 3 fibers) in a murine glaucoma filtration surgery model. Initial results rose a strong rationale that patients with glaucoma or other ocular diseases may benefit from treatment with TGF-β2 antisense oligonucleotides. D.Paulaviciute-Baikstiene et al. performed a prospective 12 month study aiming to find the correlation between anterior segment OCT and functional outcomes of trabeculectomy by describing morphological features of successful and limited success filtering blebs. The detection of early postoperative scarring and the continuing development of surgical measures to reduce this risk represent a major challenge of filtering surgery. Authors suggest that larger internal fluid filled cavity, total bleb height, bigger bleb wall thickness and multiform bleb wall reflectivity are good indicators of successful bleb function. The 2nd Issue of the Journal for Modeling in Ophthalmology uniquely combines and balances clinical and mathematical aspects in the study of glaucoma and we believe that both ophthalmologists and modeling experts will find in it interesting aspects and new information on glaucoma and its risk factors. Abstract: Introduction: Assessment is a critical part of learning and validity is arguably its most important aspect. However, different views and beliefs led to a fragmented conception of the validity meaning, with an excessive focus on psychometric methods and scores, neglecting the consequences and utility of the test. The last decades witnessed the creation of a significant number of tests to assess different aspects of the medical profession formation, but researchers frequently limit their conclusions to the consistency of their measurements, without any further analysis on the educational and social impacts of the test. The objective of this work is to determine the predominant concept of validity in medical education assessment studies. Method: The authors conducted a bibliometric research of the literature about studies on the assessment of learning of medical students, to determine the prevalent concept of validity. The research covered a period from January 2001 to august 2019. The studies were classified in two categories based on their approach to validity: (1)” fragmented validity concept” and (2)” unified validity concept”. To help with validity arguments, the studies were also classified based on Miller’s framework for clinical assessment. Results: From an initial search resulting in 2823 studies, 716 studies were selected based on the eligibility criteria, and from the selected list, of which 693 (96,7%) were considered studies of the fragmented validity concept, which prioritized score results over an analysis of the test's utility, and only 23 studies (3,2%) were aligned with a unified view of validity, showing an explicit analysis of the consequences and utility of the test. Although the last decade witnessed a significant increase in the number of assessment studies, this increase was not followed by a significant change in the validity concept. Conclusions: This bibliometric analysis demonstrated that assessment studies in medical education still have a fragmented concept of validity, restricted to psychometric methods and scores. The vast majority of studies are not committed to the analysis about the utility and educational impact of an assessment policy. This restrictive view can lead to the waste of valuable time and resources related to assessment methods without significant educational consequences.

Методика определения уровня физического развития обучающихся опиралась на ранее проведённые исследования по определению интегрального индекса физической работоспособности обучающихся. Согласно данной методике (основу которой составили нормативы комплекса ГТО как научно обоснованные) был разработан блок контрольных испытаний, характеризующих общую скоростно-силовую работоспособность с элементами гибкости и с учётом возрастных особенностей: кросс (3000 м – юноши, 2000 м – девушки); прыжки с места двумя ногами; сгибание – разгибание рук в упоре от скамейки; наклоны вперёд, стоя на гимнастической скамейке (ладонями коснуться ниже плоскости скамейки); и измерения: пульса, артериального давления, талии – согласно классификации Всемирной организации здравоохранения. Расставив в таблицу семь уровней показателей контрольных испытаний, мы получили уровне-балловую таблицу оценки показателей физического развития обучающихся. В мониторинге физического развития участвовали обучающиеся первого курса ФГБОУ ВО Ярославская ГСХА основной медицинской группы на занятиях элективными дисциплинами по физической культуре и спорту, с сентября 2019 года по март 2020 года. Величина выборки составила 100 результатов по каждому виду испытания. Разработанный блок испытаний прост в техническом выполнении и точности метрического контроля. Сравнивая данные уровня физического развития обучающихся, полученные в ходе мониторинга, с интервально-уровневой оценкой, получили результат как у юношей, так и у девушек «выше среднего». Разработанная методика может быть использована для интегральной оценки физического развития обучающихся на различных этапах обучения, что позволяет вносить коррективы в учебный процесс физического воспитания. The methodology for determining the level of physical development of students was based on previously conducted studies to determine the integrated index of working capacity of students. According to this methodology (the basis of which was made by the standards of the GTO complex as scientifically based), a block of control tests was developed that characterize the general speed-power working capacity with elements of flexibility and taking into account age peculiarities: cross (3000 m for boys and 2000 m for girls), standing long jumps, dipping up from gymnastic bench, leaning forward standing on the gymnastic bench (palms touch below the plane of the bench) and measurements: pulse, blood pressure, waist – according to the classification of the World Health Organization. Having placed seven levels of control test indicators in the table, we received a level-point table for assessing the indicators of physical development of students. The first-year students of the Federal State Budgetary Educational Establishment of Higher Education Yaroslavl State Agricultural Academy of the main medical group participated in physical development monitoring at classes in elective disciplines in physical training and sports from September 2019 to March 2020. The sample value was 100 results for each type of test. The developed test block is simple in technical execution and accuracy of metric control. Comparing the data on the level of students' physical development obtained during monitoring with the interval-level assessment, the results were obtained for both boys and girls "above average". The developed technique can be used for an integrated assessment of the physical development of students at various stages of training, which allows making adjustments to the educational process of physical education.

A long-term stationary experiment was conducted to examine for the purpose nine field crop rotation patterns different in the number of fields (four to six), set of crops, and their succession in crop rotation. The respective shares of legumes, oilseeds, and cereals in the cropping pattern were 17 to 33, 17 to 40, and 50 to 67 %. It has been established that in case of no-till field crop cultivation the economic efficiency of plant production depends on the set of crops and their succession in rotation. The most economically efficient type of crop rotation is the soya-winter wheat-peas-winter wheat-sunflower-corn six-field rotation with two fields of legumes: in this rotation 1 ha of crop rotation area yields 3 850 grain units per ha at a grain unit prime cost of 5.46 roubles; the plant production output return and profitability were 20,888 roubles per ha and 113 %, respectively. The high production profitabilities provided by the soya-winter wheat-sunflower four-field and the soya-winter-wheat-sunflower-corn-winter wheat five-field crop rotation are 108.7 and 106.2 %, respectively. The inclusion of winter wheat in crop rotation for two years in a row reduces the second winter wheat crop yield by 80 to 100 %, which means a certain reduction in the grain unit harvesting rate to 3.48-3.57 thousands per ha of rotation area and cuts the production profitability down to 84.4-92.3 %. Sirotinskiy, DOI: https://doi.org/10.26782/jmcms.spl.10/2020.06.00043 Abstract: This paper is concerned with solving one of the issues of the general problem of designing geophysical equipment for the natural climatic environment of the Arctic. The relevance of the topic has to do with an increased global interest in this region. The paper is aimed at considering the basic principles of developing and the procedure of testing seismic instruments for use at ultralow climatic temperatures. In this paper the indicated issue is considered through the example of a seismic module designed for petroleum and gas exploration by passive seismoacoustic methods. The seismic module is a direct-burial portable unit of around 5 kg in weight, designed to continuously measure and record microseismic triaxial orthogonal (ZNE) noise in a range from 0.1 to 45 Hz during several days in autonomous mode. The functional chart of designing the seismic module was considered, and concrete conclusions were made for choosing the necessary components to meet the ultralow-temperature operational requirements. The conclusions made served for developing appropriate seismic module. In this case, the components and tools used included a SAFT MP 176065 xc low-temperature lithium cell, industrial-spec electronic component parts, a Zhaofeng Geophysical ZF-4.5 Chinese primary electrodynamic seismic sensor, housing seal parts made of frost-resistant silicone materials, and finely dispersed silica gel used as water-retaining sorbent to avoid condensation in the housing. The paper also describes a procedure of low-temperature collation tests at the lab using a New Brunswick Scientific freezing plant. The test results proved the operability of the developed equipment at ultralow temperatures down to -55°C. In addition, tests were conducted at low microseismic noises in the actual Arctic environment. The possibility to detect signals in a range from 1 to 10 Hz at the level close to the NLNM limit (the Peterson model) has been confirmed, which allows monitoring and exploring petroleum and gas deposits by passive methods. As revealed by this study, the suggested approaches are efficient in developing high-precision mobile seismic instruments for use at ultralow climatic temperatures. The solution of the considered instrumentation and methodical issues is of great practical significance as a constituent of the generic problem of Arctic exploration. Bogdanov, DOI: https://doi.org/10.26782/jmcms.spl.10/2020.06.00044 Abstract: The article considers the problem of surgical correction of the second metatarsal bone length. The article analyzes the results of treatment of patients with excess length of the second metatarsal bones that underwent osteotomy with and without osteosynthesis. The results of treatment of patients who underwent metatarsal shortening due to classical Weil-osteotomy with and without osteosynthesis were analyzed. The first group consisted of 34 patients. They underwent classical Weil osteotomy. The second group included 44 patients in whomosteotomy of the second metatarsal bone were not by the screw. When studying the results of the treatment in the immediate postoperative period, weeks 6, 12, slightly better results were observed in patients of the first group, while one year after surgical treatment the results in both groups were comparable. One year after surgical treatment, there were 2.9% (1 patient) of unsatisfactory results in the first group and 4.5% (2 patients) in the second group. Considering the comparability of the results of treatment in remote postoperative period, the choice of concrete method remains with the operating surgeon. Methods. A prospective 3-year study of 86 healthy dogs (aged 1-7 yrs) of different breeds and of both sexes. Echo homogeneity and echogenicity of the stomach and intestines wall were determined by the method of Silina, T.L., et al. (2010) in absolute values ​​of average brightness levels of ultrasound image pixels using the 8-bit scale with 256 shades of gray. Results. Quantitative echogenicity indicators of the stomach and the small intestine wall in dogs were determined. Based on the numerical values ​​characterizing echogenicity distribution in each layer of a separate structure of the digestive system, the coefficient of gastric echogenicity is determined as 1:2.4:1.1 (mucosa/submucosa/muscle layers, respectively), the coefficient of duodenum and jejunum echogenicity is determined as 1:3.5:2 and that of ileum is 1:1.8:1. Clinical significance. Datieva, DOI: https://doi.org/10.26782/jmcms.spl.10/2020.06.00046 Abstract: The aim of this work was to assess the functional reserves of the body to quantify individual health; adaptation, psychophysiological characteristics of the health quality of medical students in different seasons of the year. When studying the temporal organization of physiological functions, the rhythm parameters of physiological functions were determined, followed by processing the results using the Cosinor Analysis program, which reveals rhythms with an unknown period for unequal observations, evaluates 5 parameters of sinusoidal rhythms (mesor, amplitude, acrophase, period, reliability). The essence of desynchronization is the mismatch of circadian rhythms among themselves or destruction of the rhythms architectonics (instability of acrophases or their disappearance). Desynchronization with respect to the rhythmic structure of the body is of a disregulatory nature, most pronounced in pathological desynchronization. High neurotism, increased anxiety reinforces the tendency to internal desynchronization, which increases with stress. During examination stress, students experience a decrease in the stability of the temporary organization of the biosystem and the tension of adaptive mechanisms develops, which affects attention, mental performance and the quality of adaptation to the educational process. Time is shortened and the amplitude of the “initial minute” decreases, personal and situational anxiety develops, and the level of psychophysiological adaptation decreases. The results of the work are priority because they can be used in assessing quality and level of health. Tsvetkov, DOI: https://doi.org/10.26782/jmcms.spl.10/2020.06.00047 Abstract: The present study of comparison methods based on the triadic model introduces the following concepts: the relation of comparability and the relation of comparison, and object comparison and attributive comparison. The difference between active and passive qualitative comparison is shown, two triadic models of passive and active comparison and models for comparing two and three objects are described. Triadic comparison models are proposed as an alternative to dyadic comparison models. Comparison allows finding the common and the different; this approach is proposed for the analysis of the nomothetic and ideographic method of obtaining knowledge. The nomothetic method identifies and evaluates the general, while the ideographic method searches for unique in parameters and in combinations of parameters. Triadic comparison is used in systems and methods of argumentation, as well as in the analysis of consistency/inconsistency.
