Abstract:
Aberrant accessory muscles are rare entities in the hand. The extensor digitorum brevis manus (EDBM) muscle is amongst them and may be seen in association with dorsal ganglion cysts. Distinguishing an EDBM muscle is relevant in the diagnostic consideration of a dorsal ganglion in order to facilitate and guide its proper treatment. To date, there have been only few reports of an EDBM in association with a dorsal ganglion cyst. We report our experience with an incidental intraoperative finding of an intramuscular EDBM dorsal ganglion cyst and follow with a literature review and guide to manageme

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the potential of electrodialysis bipolar membrane (EDBM) systems for the recovery of the concentrate originating from an organized industrial estate (OIE) wastewater treatment system with reverse osmosis (RO). Acids and bases were obtained from a pilot-scale treatment plant as a result of the research. Furthermore, the sustainability and affordability of acids and bases obtained by EDBM systems were investigated. Six cycles were carried out in continuous-flow mode with the EDBM system as batch cycles in the disposal of the concentrate and the productio

Electrodialysis with a bipolar membrane coupled to an ultrafiltration module (EDBM-UF) is a hybrid technology recently developed as an ecofriendly alternative to chemical acidification to produce casein and caseinate from skim milk. In this study, the composition and functional properties of casein and caseinate obtained by chemical acidification/basification and by the EDBM-UF method from winter and summer milks were analyzed and compared. Results show that the emulsifying properties, solubility, water holding, and gelling capacities are equivalent between casein and caseinate from both metho

Neokyotorphin (α137-141) is recognized as an antimicrobial peptide and a natural meat preservative. It is produced by conventional enzymatic hydrolysis of bovine hemoglobin, a major component of cruor, a by-product of slaughterhouses. However, during conventional hydrolysis, chemical agents are necessary to adjust and regulate the pH of the protein solution and the mineral salt content of the final hydrolysate is consequently high. To produce this peptide of interest without chemical agents and with a low salt concentration, electrodialysis with bipolar membrane (EDBM), an electromembrane proc

Separation of α-lactalbumin and β-lactoglobulin improves their respective nutritional and functional properties. One strategy to improve their fractionation is to modify their pH and ionic strength to induce the selective aggregation and precipitation of one of the proteins of interest. Electrodialysis with bipolar membrane (EDBM) is a green process that simultaneously provides acidification and demineralization of a solution without adding any chemical compounds. This research presents the impact on whey proteins separation of different preheating temperatures (20, 50, 55 and 60 °C) combined

Today, cyber attackers use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to boost the sophistication and scope of their attacks. On the defense side, AI is used to improve defense plans, robustness, flexibility, and efficiency of defense systems by adapting to environmental changes. With the developments in information and communication technologies, various exploits that are changing rapidly constitute a danger sign for cyber security. Bovine cruor, a slaughterhouse waste, was mainly composed of hemoglobin, a protein rich in antibacterial and antioxidant peptides after its hydrolysis. In the current context of food safety, such bioactive peptides derived from enzymatic hydrolysis of hemoglobin represent potential promising preservatives for the food sector. In this work, the hemoglobin hydrolysis to produce bioactive peptides was performed in a regulated pH medium without the use of chemical solvents and by an eco-efficient process: electrodialysis with bipolar membrane (EDBM). The extensor digitorum brevis manus muscle (edbm) is an anomalous extrinsic extensor that may occur in up to 3% of the population and may produce symptoms and signs that are very similar to those of a dorsal ganglion. We report a case of edbm in a male whose diagnosis was made intraoperatively. He remains symptom free following surgical resection.

Abstract:
The presence of phenol in water has adverse effects on human health and the environment, as it is a toxic contaminant commonly found in industrial waste. To address this issue, studies were conducted to investigate the transport of phenol using copoly(eugenol-divinyl benzene) (Co-EDVB) 8% as a carrier on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes, employing the Supported Liquid Membrane (SLM) method. Various parameters affecting phenol transport were examined, including the pH of the source phase, concentration in the receiver phase, immersion time, carrier concentration, and transport duration.
