Abstract:
ABSTRACT Here we report a rapid and sensitive method (using loop-mediated isothermal amplification [LAMP]) for the diagnosis of edwardsiellosis, a fish disease caused by Edwardsiella tarda, in Japanese flounder. A set of four primers was designed, and conditions for the detection were optimized for the detection of E. tarda in 45 min at 65°C. No amplification of the target hemolysin gene was detected in other related bacteria. When the LAMP primers were used, detection of edwardsiellosis in infected Japanese flounder kidney, and spleen and seawater cultures was possible. We have developed a ra

The olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is one of the most economically important fish species in South Korea’s aquaculture industry. However, Edwardsiellosis, caused by Edwardsiella tarda (E. tarda), poses a significant threat to this industry, resulting in high mortality rates and economic losses. The aim of this study is to identify genetic loci associated with Edwardsiellosis resistance in olive flounder using a genome-wide association study (GWAS). A challenge experiment was conducted, infecting 2,939 flounders with E. tarda and recording survival traits. Genotyping was performed usin

Abstract:
Edwardsiellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease that caused by Edwardsiella tarda and characterized by gastroenteritis in humans. Contaminated water can also be a source of infection. Primary nutritional toxicity clinical signs may mask aquatic zoonosis caused by Edwardsiella tarda. Infectious border control should ensure that the import into Ukraine of such preservatives of food products, highly probably infected by this agent is not allowed.

Zoonotic diseases from aquatic animals have not received much attention even though contact between humans and aquatic animals and their pathogens have increased significantly in the last several decades. Currently, Edwardsiella tarda, the causative agent of Edwardsiellosis in humans, is considered an emerging gastrointestinal zoonotic pathogen, which is acquired from aquatic animals. However, there is little information about E. tarda pathogenesis in mammals. In contrast, significant progress has been made regarding to E. tarda fish pathogenesis. Undoubtedly, research about E. tarda pathogene

This paper described the application of Citrus microcarpa extract as bio-immunostimulator in red hybrid tilapia against Edwardsiellosis infection. Edwardsiellosis due to Edwardsiella tarda is one of the well-known bacterial diseases in aquaculture which leads to significant economic losses. The increasing antibiotic resistant cases among pathogenic bacteria led to many commercial antibiotics no longer effective in controlling bacterial diseases in aquaculture. Hence, in the present study was carried out to evaluate potential of C. microcarpa extract as immunostimulator against Edwardsiellosis
