CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Child development is negatively influenced by multiple risk factors associated with poverty, thus indicating the importance of identifying the most vulnerable groups within populations that are apparently homogeneous regarding their state of socioeconomic deprivation. This study aimed to identify different levels of poverty in a population of low socioeconomic condition and to ascertain their influence on infants' neuropsychomotor development. Higher paternal age at offspring conception increases de novo genetic mutations. Based on evolutionary genetic theory we predicted older fathers' children, all else equal, would be less likely to survive and reproduce, i.e. have lower fitness. In sibling control studies, we find support for negative paternal age effects on offspring survival and reproductive success across four large populations with an aggregate N > 1.4 million. Three populations were pre-industrial (1670–1850) Western populations and showed negative paternal age effects on infant survival and offspring reproductive succes

Experience in this field showed that the mothers of these adolescents are usually involved in the treatment programme, whereas the fathers are emotionally distant. This is often the way in which these families function. The researcher wanted to find out which aspects influence the dynamics of the relationship between an emotionally distant father and his chemically dependent adolescent. Subsequently, the

The absent-father refers to the father who, as a result of certain circumstances, cannot properly fulfill his role as father in the family circle. It appears that this phenomenon is gradually on the increase and it is apparent that parents increasingly feel the necessity to obtain guidance in respect of this particular problem. Several factors contribute towards the phenomenon of father-absence. The most general reason for this occurrence is the father's respon

The migrant labour practice in South Africa played an important role in the country's development and economy. Although it has benefited many native migrant workers by creating job opportunities, it has had adverse effects on the families of migrant workers. The focus of this study is the phenomenon of migrant labouring and its effects on the family. A literature study has shown that migrant labourers, living in overcrowded city hostels, were subjected to exploitation, malnutrition and crime. Abstract:
The effect of orthodontic therapy of different orthodontic anomalies on life quality referred to one's personality. Congenital or acquired orthodontic anomalies are a great problem of today's children and youth. Fast way of life, young mothers urging to be in top form after giving birth to a child, neglecting breastfeeding as a presumption to be the most important for the proper development of the orofacial system leads to numerous irregularities in the teeth development. Maternal deprivation and closeness deprivation, warmth deprivation, present the majority of proper children's development and their psycho-physical development. Any anomaly is evident on the face, either asymmetry, open bite with interlacing the tongue between the teeth, whether in the disorder of the face, the lowered jaw, the incongruous profile and speech disorder, breathing, etc. From the previous, the negative feelings of children and youth, depression, fall in the elimination of life, limitation of working abilities, etc. Solving them leads to joy, happiness, raising the quality of life.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses how the misrepresentation and misinterpretation of neuroscience conceal the deeply political and moral nature of decisions about what is best for children. The current early intervention logic is rooted in simplistic notions of cause and effect, with the ends of improved human capital justifying the interventions to ensure its production. The chapter then explores potential future directions, contrasting the ‘brave new world of prevention science’ and its instrumental economic logic, with a socially just approach to increasing family income and reducing material deprivation, and more collectivist ideals of supporting families, reducing social harm, and humanely addressing the social good for its own sake.

Abstract:
Ideas about poverty and poverty reduction policy are clouded by misleading measures and unreliable evidence. National statistical organizations (NSOs) are under-resourced and the collection and dissemination of data are compromised by political pressures. Allegedly pro-poor policies have had an inegalitarian impact in rural Africa. Conventional views expecting that support spread across smallholder farmers will reduce poverty are based on skewed evidence and ideology. Large farms have a bigger effect on poverty reduction through labour markets. ‘Gold standard’ poverty measures based on consumption surveys are unreliable and misleading. Composite indices are even less useful. There are better ways to assess deprivation. The poorest typically live in small households with few men in them. Women and children in these households suffer the risks of teenage pregnancy; they risk undernutrition because of a monotonous and undiversified diet; they can acquire hardly any basic consumer wage goods; they depend on access to wage employment opportunities.
