High Ionisation Potential (IP) amorphous conjugated polymers are very practical semiconductors and promising candidates for printing applications as they exhibit 1) high air-stability due to the high IP, and 2) reproducible electrical performance due to the uniformity of amorphous morphology. However they generally exhibit low mobilities on the order of 10-3 cm2Ns and below. This work is based mainly on two high-IP amorphous conjugated polymers poly(indenofluorene-triarylamine) (PIFTAA) and poly(indenofluorene- phenanthrene) (PIFPA). Microfibrillar composites (MFCs) are advantageous polymer-polymer composites with in situ formed reinforcing fibrils. The range of applications of MFCs is limited by their low thermal resistance and me-chanical parameters of polymeric microfibres, which are formed by melt or cold drawing of the polymer blend. This study addresses improving MFCs based on HDPE matrix with 20% polyamide 6 microfibrils using organophilized montmorillonite. Abstract:
In this study three polymers, namely poly(carbonate urethane), poly(bisphenol-a-epichlorohydrin) and poly(methyl methacrylate), were selected and change of properties with gamma treatment were studied. Two different dose rates were used for irradiations and the properties of the irradiated polymers exposed to same total absorbed dose were compared. In addition, long irradiations of up to about six months with high dose rate were done in order to understand the radiation stability of the polymers, which may be possible candidates for embedding media for low and intermediate level radioactive (n
