Albrecht, Stefano Vittorino. "Utilising policy types for effective ad hoc coordination in multiagent systems." Thesis, University of Edinburgh, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/1842/16199.

Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with the ad hoc coordination problem. Therein, the goal is to design an autonomous agent which can achieve high flexibility and efficiency in a multiagent system that admits no prior coordination between the designed agent and the other agents. Flexibility describes the agent’s ability to solve its task with a variety of other agents in the system; efficiency is the relation between the agent’s payoffs and time needed to solve the task; and no prior coordination means that the agent does not a priori know how the other agents behave. This problem is relevant for a numb

This study examined The Margin Protection Program for Dairy’s impact on the “effective margins” or margins realized by dairy producers in various regions. Each selected margin and percentage of production history offered by the national policy was analyzed in a forecasting, national and regional manner. Couplet margins were simulated for fifteen regions from 2017 through 2020. Five scenarios were analyzed for the change in MPP’s effects under a 15%, 10%, and 5% drop in the price of milk as well as a 50% increase in the price of corn and a scenario where milk decreases 15% while corn prices sim

Our results demonstrate that tumor growth is significantly delayed in mice receiving syngeneic HCT from 12B1 tumor CRCL immunized donors compared to animals receiving HCT from non-immunized donors. Multipath routing can improve the path availability in mobile environment. Thus, it has a great potential to improve TCP performance in ad hoc networks under mobility. Previous research on multipath routing mostly used UDP traffic for performance evaluation. When TCP is used, we find that m

We introduce a notion of power management scheme combined with the clustering scheme. The first topic is the power consumption efficiency in a wireless ad hoc environment. An inappropriate transmission power leads to high power consumption and interference of the networks, thus our power management scheme adapts power to transmit data packet throughout the networks.
