The effects of microsize and nanosize particles in composite structures as well as the incident radiation energy on X-ray attenuation is the focus of this study. To examine these effects, composite samples with different particle sizes of Al2O3 and with different thicknesses were prepared. Characteristic X-rays are applied as monochromatic X-rays and measurements were performed using an X-ray tube with a secondary excitation source instead of radioisotopes. In order to improve the efficiency and minimize the background effects a special detection system was designed and prepared. The linear at

Abstract The purpose of the current study was to investigate the biological effects of protons and photons in combination with cisplatin in cultured cells and elucidate the mechanisms responsible for their combined effects. To evaluate the sensitizing effects of cisplatin against X-rays and proton beams in HSG, EMT6 and V79 cells, the combination index, a simple measure for quantifying synergism, was estimated from cell survival curves using software capable of performing the Monte Carlo calculation. Cell death and apoptosis were assessed using live cell fluorescence imaging. HeLa and HSG cell

The effects of pulse-repetitive X-ray radiation and microwaves on the suspension of human erythrocyte was investigated in present work taking in to account changing their electrical capacitance. It was shown that the single 5-min exposure of suspension of erythrocyte to pulse periodic x-rays and microwaves causes the changes of the capacitance. The of the effect depends on the radiation type, the pulse repetition frequency, the radiation absorbed dose (in case of x-rays) and power flow density (in the case of microwaves).

X-rays are an effective method to diagnose alterations in hard tissues, which is why they are used in dental treatments; in Endodontics they are very useful. Pregnant women receive comprehensive dental care that includes pulpo-radicular treatments. The objective was: to describe the theoretical basis for the use of radiographs in pregnant women in need of endodontic treatment. A bibliographic review was carried out taking into account the most up-to-date scientific literature on the subject. 19 bibliographies were used. X-ray hygiene technology resulted in a high microbial loss in numerous food products, such as dairy products, ready-to-eat shrimp, oysters, fresh products, strawberries, shredded iceberg lettuce, and spinach leaves. Some X-ray studies on food safety have shown that X-ray is an effective technology and is also an appropriate alternative to the electron beam and gamma rays, and can be used in the food industry without side effects on human health.
