Purpose: To develop a method for the measurement of carbon dioxide (CO2) released from effervescent formulations.
Methods: Effervescent granules were prepared using sodium bicarbonate and citric acid by fusion and solvent-assisted granulation methods. The amount of CO2 released was determined from the maximum pressure of gas release, time profile of pressure gradient using modified Chittick apparatus and gravimetric changes following effervescence.
Results: The amount of CO2 released from effervescent granules prepared by fusion method was 8.125, 8.763 and 7.98 mM/g measured by ide

A single blind study was conducted to prepare and evaluate paracetamol effervescent tablets. Potency, content uniformity, diameter, thickness and crushing strength of the prepared tablets were used as the bench mark parameters for quality assessment. Our results showed that all parameters met official values except for friability. The performance of the tablets in terms of duration of effervescence was investigated under high stresses of humidity as well as at low and high temperatures. The duration of the investigational period lasted for 3 days and results showed an increase in effervescence

Effervescent tablets represent new solid oral dosage forms characterized by the fast disintegration after contact with water, releasing carbon dioxide and giving a solution or dispersion that can be administered orally. Effervescent tablets are many times more beneficial than other dosage forms such as faster drug absorption, greater patient compliance, better taste masking, and effectiveness in patients who have difficulty in swallowing. Abstract As a conceptual tool, effervescence offers a nuanced and complex explanation of forces for social change. Yet, it can be challenging to identify subject matter that spans the full implications of effervescence from embodied feeling to changes in social action over time. This study joins theories of effervescence with a unique set of primary historical records from a nineteenth-century religious utopian community in the United States to investigate whether effervescence might have a role in the creation, maintenance or decay of social ideals.
