Predicting water quality is essential for effective environmental management and pollution control. Dissolved oxygen (DO), one of key water quality parameters, plays a vital role in biological wastewater treatment [1]. This study aims to forecast DO levels in activated sludge tanks of an oil refinerys wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). Proper oxygen concentration is critical for microbial activity, as inadequate levels can disrupt the biological breakdown of pollutants. The objective is to develop predictive models to identify operational risks early, enhancing treatment efficiency and optimi

Abstract Steam turbine blade and disc failures have occurred from time to time throughout the world. Although they are rare events, the implications for safety, for repair costs and for loss of availability are severe. Current operational and maintenance practices for any particular turbine design may be based on many years of satisfactory service. However, recent deregulation of the power industry in the UK and forthcoming deregulation in the USA may have an effect on operational and reliability issues, as changing operational demands are placed upon power generators through economic forces.

Abstract This study investigates the causes of premature pinhole leaks in a 6.4 Million Gallons per Day (MGD) water filtration plant that utilizes 304 stainless steel feed headers. The leaks, predominantly occurring around welds on the 8-inch headers, were found to result from pitting corrosion, which was exacerbated by microbial activity and environmental factors. Laboratory analyses revealed significant iron oxides or rust formation, microbial-influenced corrosion (MIC), and extensive pitting, indicating compromised weld integrity.
