The aim of the research was to synthesize multi-walled carbon nanotubes and graphite oxide and fabricate coatings thereof. Silica and titania nanoparticles have been produced by using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene as templates in a sol-gel reaction. A range of Fmoc terminated amino-acids (Fmoc-AAs) were studied as surface modifiers to encourage the templating on the nanocarbons. In England and Wales, rising demands on water resources and competition between sectors is leading to increased pressure on field vegetable growers to irrigate more efficiently.
