Abstract:
By reducing ships’ fuel consumption, shipowners can achieve lower operating costs while at the same time reducing their impact on the environment. This report is a study of different measures that can be taken in order to improve ships’ energy efficiency, and a study of how various engine parameters can be related to efficient running of the engine. Several measures have been assessed and related to a specific ship’s energy profile in order to find the fuel and diesel oil savings potential. The ship’s profile has been updated largely based on the different manufacturers’ own estimations of the

Abstract:
Diesel engine and generator sets (gensets) have been extensively used for standby and remote power generation over the past hundred years. Due to their use for standby power, these diesel gensets are designed to operate in conjunction with the grid, which relates to a fixed speed operation with a 60 Hz AC output. For operation in remote conditions, such as military and disaster relief applications, this fixed speed operation results in limiting the power output available from the engine, as well as the overall efficiency of the system. Security Operation Centers (SOCs) have become an integral component of business organizations all over the world. The concept of a SOC has existed for a few years now yet there is no systematic study documenting the occurrences of their operations. A lack of documented operational knowledge makes it a challenge for security researchers interested in improving operational efficiency through algorithms, tools, and processes. SOC environments operate under a secrecy culture as a result of which researchers are not trusted by analysts and their managers. This lack of trust leads to only superfi

Abstract:
Electrical energy is one of the most common forms of energy these days. Consequently, electric power system is an indispensable part of any society. However, due to the deregulation of electricity markets and the growth in the share of power generation by uncontrollable renewable energies such as wind and solar, power system simulations are more challenging than earlier. Thus, new techniques for simplifying these simulations are needed. One important example of such simplification techniques is the power system reduction. Power system reduction can be used at least for four different purposes:

Abstract:
Every positive integer has a unique radix 2 representation which uses the digits {0,1}. However, if we allow digits other than 0 and 1, say {0,1,-1}, then a positive integer has many representations. Of these redundant representations, it is possible to choose one that has few nonzero digits. It is well known that using representations of integers with few nonzero digits allows certain algebraic operations to be done more quickly. This thesis is concerned with various representations of integers that are related to efficient implementations of algebraic operations in crypto
