Abstract:
The transportation sector is a significant contributor to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, accounting for approximately 14 % of all anthropogenic GHG emissions. Despite the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, internal combustion engines (ICEs) continue to dominate the global vehicle fleet, making it essential to find a way to reduce GHG emissions from this sector. One potential solution is the use of efuels, also known as synthetic fuels, which can significantly reduce GHG emissions from transportation. While there are still several challenges associated with their production and

Germany’s energy transition, known as ‘Energiewende’, was always very progressive. However, it came technically to a halt at the question of large-scale, seasonal energy storage for wind and solar, which was not available. At the end of the 2000s, we combined our knowledge of both electrical and process engineering, imitated nature by copying photosynthesis and developed Power-to-Gas by combining water electrolysis with CO2-methanation to convert water and CO2 together with wind and solar power to synthetic natural gas. This paper presents a methodology for image classification of both spatial and spectral data with the use of hybrid evolving fuzzy neural networks (EFuNNS). EFuNNs are five layer sparsely connected networks. EFuNNs contain dynamic structures that evolve by growing and pruning of neurons and connections. EFuNNS merge three supervised classification methods: connectionism, fuzzy logic, and case-based reasoning. By merging these strategies, this new structure is capable of learning and generalising from a small sample set of large attribute vectors as well as from large sample sets and small feat

AbstractThe transition to sustainable energy is crucial for addressing anthropogenic climate change, with green ammonia emerging as a key alternative to fossil fuels. Iverson eFuels AS is planning a green ammonia plant in Sauda, Norway, including a ca. 2800 m long pipeline tunnel to transport ammonia to a storage area at the fjord. This article elaborates on the early‐phase variant optimization of the tunnel design, conducted at a pre‐Front‐End Engineering Design (pre‐FEED) stage with limited ground data. Despite common concerns about time and effort, advanced 3D ground modeling and parametric

Purpose: Increasingly, mechanisms of learning are being considered during aphasia rehabilitation. Well-characterized learning mechanisms can inform “how” interventions should be administered to maximize the acquisition and retention of treatment gains. This systematic scoping review mapped hypothesized mechanisms of action (MoAs) and treatment ingredients in three learning-based approaches targeting naming in aphasia: errorless learning (ELess), errorful learning (EFul), and retrieval practice (RP). The rehabilitation treatment specification system was leveraged to describe available literatur

Abstract:
Stress is known to activate distinct neuronal circuits in the brain and induce multiple changes on the cellular level, including alterations in neuronal structures. On the basis of clinical observations that stress often precipitates a depressive disease, chronic psychosocial stress serves as an experimental model to evaluate the cellular and molecular alterations associated with the consequences of major depression. Antidepressants are presently believed to exert their primary biochemical effects by readjusting aberrant intrasynaptic concentrations of neurotransmitters, such as serotonin or n

Abstract:
An impressive number of animal models to assess depression and anxiety are available today. However, the relationship between these models and the clinical syndromes of depression and anxiety is not always clear. Since human anxiety disorders represent a multifactorial phenomenon frequently comorbid with major depression and/or other psychiatric problems, the chance of creating animal models which consistently reflect the human situation is quite poor. When using experimental models to understand homologies between animal and human behavior, we have to consider the context in which an animal i
