Abstract:
There is a lot of shell waste in the environment. In the village of Tampingmojo, there is also a lot of eggshell waste produced from household waste. The need for an idea to use it into something useful is to make it a craft that has a high selling value and can protect the environment from waste. The method used in the implementation of this community service activity is the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) method. This method has five steps, namely as follows: 1) Discovery, 2) Dream, 3) Design, 4) Define, 5) Destiny. As a result, egg shells can be used to make calligraphy so that waste that previously had no economic value becomes valuable and has economic value to increase income.

Abstract:
This paper provides information and solution relevant to souvenir’s product design, market, low marketing price, and copyright protection of horned rhinoceros craft and craftsmen in Kabupaten Pandeglang. Implementation method used is training, counseling, practice and participatory assistance by finding village and craftsmen potential and encountered problems. Several alternative solutions were provided such as positive, innovative, and creative thinking. Training was delivered in simple languages to ensure that the spoken materials can be understood clearly by the local craftsmen. Sculpture craftsmen of rhinoceros were able to understand aesthetic elements placements and felt satisfied towards the sculpting training they received. The crafting process utilizes wood waste, bamboo, and duck eggshells, which supports the environmental sustainability program and increase the sculpture’s value. "Badak Trisakti" Cooperative has yet to meet the need of its members. This situation was caused by low participation and poor infrastructure. Weak copyright protection occurred due to an ongoing ”debate” regarding logo placement in horned rhinoceros statues. Despite the situations, this empowerment program was able to increase the income of craftsmen in the area.

Abstract:
In early modern China and Europe, shell-building organisms were considered human-like in their abilities to design and construct proto-architectural geometric shapes. Likewise, images of birds hatching from shells feature prominently in sources from both cultures, evoking associations between shells and eggshells, molluscs that craft their own houses and birds that build their own nests. This chapter considers the creative agency of molluscs as reflected in Eurasian thought, art, and material culture, conceptualizing shells as ‘clever’ objects that informed artisanal and scientific practices across cultures. Against the background of transcultural narratives on the generation of pearls that attribute molluscs with female features, the chapter presents evidence of a shared ecological understanding of the material agency of shells across early modern Eurasia.
