Full textTwo volumes of the thesis are consecrated to the churches which have been studied individually in a particular note. All the notes are presenting the same typology : geographical situation, history, description and iconography. 87 churches had been indexed and studied. They all belonged to two arrondissements (administrative divisions) : Yvetot and Le Havre. Following to these notices one synthesis had been concluded. The first part puts a particular notion in an obvious place : the parish enclosure (the parish, the presbytery and the cemetery). The second part details the religious buildings with it's characteristically architecture, furniture and art productions. The third chapter states the causes of disappearance. A topographical and religious fact as well as multiple reasons like the changing of style gives us some explications. But certainly the intervention of the parish reunions in the years 1820 to 1830 is the main explication : 70% of the churches had been concerned

Full textPeaty slide inundation in the Pays de Caux became a priority for regional development. The run-off is the most important factor that can explain the fact and frequency of this type of inundation. A space ans systemic approach at the scale of the elementary water-shed allows co-ordinated actions to appear, that have been decided and approved on a collective basis, which is a guaranty of effectiveness and efficiency. In addition to selective post corrective measures located right below vulnerable areas, efforts and reflections are made about the manner to reconsidering upper-water-shed practices. Mixing both significant scales ( elementary water-shed and farm), space analysis and modelling allow to suggest measures to fight run-off and erosion. Tese measures are individuals but with collective imperatives, which guatantees the homogenisation of devices on the area at risk, and implies a mediation and a dialogue aiming at reorganising the space of the farms. The socio-economic approach allows to adapt the erosive run-off limitation requirements to the financial and structural constraints of the agricultural company

Full textThis study focuses on the effect of clay and sand layers on the gravity instabilities affecting the coastal chalk cliffs located along the French eastern English Channel coastline. The impact of these potential detachment layers is investigated using finite element numeric simulations and experimental modeling under conditions of pore-fluid overpressure. Results indicate that the cliff sliding ratio is linked to the clays layers position with regard to cliff base. The cliff instability is characterized by horizontal seaward sliding guided by the Kimmeridgian clays at the base of the cliff or by the Albian Gault clays at a variable elevation in the cliff. The gravitational deformation is associated with a normal fault network in the chalk and with an inland propagation as a function of the clays layer elevation. Moreover, the clay layer stops the downward propagation of the deformation and acts as a decoupling layer

Full textThis study on rural micro-history concerns a small territory in Haute-Normandie (from Saint-Saëns to Cailly), without morphological unity. It is in fact divided into two different parts belonging to two great rural countries in Haute-Normandie : the Pays de Caux and the Pays de Bray. The organization of the community will be studied, showing the coherence and divisions in the XVII-XVIIIth centuries. Our reflexion will focus on the type of economic development not only based on agricultural resources but on various complementary activities created by these small communities. They are integrated into a complex system of relationship including several levels. Finally, the outlines of the social structure will be highlighted
