Abstract Background Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) is a language that transcends the verbal realm. This facet of communicating through dance and movement is significant particularly when the population you are working with often communicates in ways that are creative, unique, and not necessarily conventional. This is often the case when working with people who have been diagnosed on the schizophrenia spectrum. Although they fall under the same diagnosis, positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia are embodied in quite different ways; as their names indicate, positive and negative symptoms a

Abstract:
Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have transformed our lives in profound ways. Indeed, AI has not only enabled machines to see (eg, face recognition), hear (eg, music retrieval), speak (eg, speech synthesis), and read (eg, text processing), but also, so it seems, given machines the ability to think (eg, board game-playing) and create (eg, artwork generation). This chapter introduces the key technical elements of machine learning (ML), which is a rapidly growing sub-field in AI and drives many of the aforementioned applications. The goal is to elucidate the ways human efforts are involved in the development of ML solutions, so as to facilitate legal discussions on intellectual property issues.

Full text
Abstract:
Indeed, the COVID-19 pandemic has seriously impacted many businesses with irredeemable consequences, while the rest are trying to keep rowing, believing that making business as usual will save them. Only a few embarked on what academics call the innovation of business models. And they are doing it at the speed of light because the world they knew is no longer the same. The event management domain is not different. There is an urgent need to consider the impact of the emerging trends and the unexpected turbulence on the event industry, in general, and event management in particular. There is a common consensus that business model innovation can provide an effective path towards acquiring competitive advantage. Still, event management practice seems to be facing real challenges connecting related concepts like eco-innovation, stakeholder engagement, long-term sustain- ability (based on the triple bottom line) and impact of public and private governance from both the supply and demand sides. In short, there are very few examples in the industry that connect eco-innovation and the ways organisations create, deliver and capture value (the value cycle), and avoid leaving value uncaptured (Yang et al., 2017). The few examples of the value cycle connected to eco-innovation – i.e., connecting business models and sustainable innovation – concentrate on properly integrating the eco-innovated products, services, processes with working business models. The sort of linear thinking that advocates pursuing the sustainability of a business model by just producing greener or environmentally-conscious services seldom considers eco-innovation of business models as driven by valueholders’ needs and interests. This chapter will discuss how business models in the event industry, while aiming to achieve the sustainability goals, balancing economic, social and environmental needs and requirements for better or greener products and extended value proposals, should realise that these are imposed by the valueholders affecting their value creation, delivery and capture cycle. The chapter starts with an introduction, explaining the relevant basic concepts of business models (BM), business model innovation (BMI) and sustainable business models (SBM) while linking to the concept of eco-innovation. The remaining sections explicate the concept of valueholder from a SBM perspective and its impact on the development and implementation of the SBM. The discussion starts by looking at how the concept of (institutional) logic can help to implement business model eco-innovation, with emphasis on the behavioural aspects that influence the decisions made, which determine the effectiveness of the BM.

Abstract:
Aquaculture is instrumental for increasing global fish production, but its ecological effects can create new pressures on the fishing grounds that small-scale fisheries (SSFs) depend on. As a result, achievement of SDGs 1 (end poverty) and 2 (end hunger) in societies of the Global South is compromised, and that of SDG14 (sustainable marine resources) is complicated. Using new evidence from Lake Victoria, which harbors Africa’s largest inland SSFs and a fast-growing aquaculture industry, this chapter examines how science, technology, and innovation (STI) can support ecologically and socially sustainable governance of fisheries resources. The author argues that a sustainable expansion of aquaculture needs to protect the natural resources that small fishers depend on while maximizing their ability to benefit from fish-farming. STI-based solutions, if integrated in a transformation governance approach, can secure and expand contributions from capture fisheries and aquaculture to help achieve SDGs 1, 2, and 14. The concept of transformation governance is based on a threefold structure: to increase eco-efficiency, redistribute access to natural resources, and recognize eco-sufficiency as a guiding principle. By applying this threefold resource-governance approach, the potential for STI-based solutions to provide greater overall eco-efficiency is utilized, restrictions on total resource use prevent rebound effects, and the principle of redistribution promotes a focus on appropriate technologies for small-scale resource users.

Hiroshi Ishii conducts research in the MIT Media Lab in two principal areas: the field of Human-Computer Interactions, and the field of interface design linking human beings, digital information and the environment. In this dialogue, Hiroshi describes two of the basic concepts of the Media Lab: the first is to achieve ‘tangible bits’ in human-computer interaction, and the second concerns ‘affordance’, which refers to the possibility of an action on an object or environment, in particular, those of which we are aware. He also explains how they create ‘digitally augmented objects’ to improve our understanding and knowledge of objects and their immediate environment. Hiroshi later reflects on the difficulties of developing natural language interfaces, and whether ‘things can think’—he is co-director of Things That Think. He also discusses breakthroughs with his ‘radical atoms’ vision of developing materials that have a shape and appearance which can be digitally transformed to make them as reconfigurable as pixels on a screen. Finally, he outlines some of his projects, such as eg. one related to the use of kinetic memory, the ability to ‘record and playback physical motion’.

Abstract:
This work characterizes two phase electrohydrodynamic (EHD) instability micromixing of two immiscible organic and aqueous fluid phases. EHD mixing of the two phase microflow is promoted by creating an unstable flow profile by electrically inducing motion of the phase boundary. The aqueous phase is assumed to be infinitely conducting due to dissolved salt ions, while the organic phase is assumed to be non-conducting. As electrodes are biased, charges accumulate at the aqueous/organic interface. At a critical voltage the interface becomes unstable so that the aqueous and organic layers will mix.
