Abstract:
Sensor nodes have been manufactured from an enormous amount of very thick sensor systems. To a large extent, wireless sensor networks were powered by electricity. The sensor connection has to work under really uncertain conditions. The nodes are powerless to various types of dynamic attacks especially specific outbound and well attacks under such conditions. These attacks inject malicious packages by trading the knot. Topographical conventions of direction of wireless sensor connections were created by thinking about the safety and power angle aspects of these assaults. In this article, a directing convention named energy-efficient and confidence implanted greedy perimeter stateless routing algorithm (EETGPSR) suggested for wireless sensor connections to join confidence systems in power-aware greedy perimeter stateless routing algorithm (EGPSR). The results show that EETGPSR beats EGPSR by reducing maintenance and improving the connection delivery ratio.

The rapid development of the Belt and Road economics has generated a considerable energy demand. Under the general trend of the global energy transition, natural gas resources are becoming the main driving force. The limited natural gas resources are posing a significant risk to economies, and this risk may also be transferred to other distant regions through economic trade. The aim of this study is to explore the trans-regional (sectoral) transmission pattern of natural gas scarcity risk. The main contribution of this paper is the assessment of the local natural gas scarcity risk (LGSR) and cross-region transfer relationship of embodied natural gas scarcity risk (EGSR), which are evaluated for the BRI economies. In addition, the network amplification effect is considered when evaluating the cross-regional impact of natural gas scarcity risk. The results show that, at the national level, Turkey, Ukraine, and Bulgaria have significant EGSR related to exports activities. The natural gas scarcity risks (GSRs) originating from these countries are mainly transferred to Turkmenistan, Georgia, and Albania, with large EGSR imports. Moreover, by comparing the ranking changes of EGSR imports, EGSR exports, and LGSRs at the national and sectoral levels, countries or sectors with higher LGSRs also have higher EGSR exports. The Top EGSR import and export network consisting of top EGSR flow relationships can well reflect countries’ preferences in choosing EGSR transfer partners. The results suggest that upstream countries and sectors should strengthen cooperation to manage natural gas resources, and provide references for decision makers in highly vulnerable downstream countries and sectors to formulate strategies to avoid the large-scale spread of economic losses caused by natural gas scarcity.

Abstract:
Accurately estimating respiratory rate (RR) has become essential for patients and the elderly. Hence, we propose a novel method that uses exact Gaussian process regression (EGPR)-assisted hybrid feature extraction and feature fusion based on photoplethysmography and electrocardiogram signals to improve the reliability of accurate RR and uncertainty estimations. First, we obtain the power spectral features and use the multi-phase feature model to compensate for insufficient input data. Then, we combine four different feature sets and choose features with high weights using a robust neighbor component analysis. The proposed EGPR algorithm provides a confidence interval representing the uncertainty. Therefore, the proposed EGPR algorithm, including hybrid feature extraction and weighted feature fusion, is an excellent model with improved reliability for accurate RR estimation. Furthermore, the proposed EGPR methodology is likely the only one currently available that provides highly stable variation and confidence intervals. The proposed EGPR-MF, 0.993 breath per minute (bpm), and EGPR-feature fusion, 1.064 (bpm), show the lowest mean absolute error compared to the other models.

Abstract Glycation products are ubiquitous in food. Moreover, the well-controlled glycation, that results in the production of early glycation products (EGPs), has been proposed as a strategy to improve the physicochemical properties of the food proteins. However, the health effects of EGPs are rarely known. Since there is evidence showing that Western diet (glycation prone) is associated with higher mortality of prostate patients than Prudent diet, we investigated the role of EGPs in prostate tumorigenesis. EGPs were produced from a whey protein isolate-glucose model system, with non-reacted samples (NR) and advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) as controls. They were used to gavage male C57BL6 mice, and the mice were then subcutaneously injected with TRAMP-C2 cells (a mouse prostate cancer (PCa) cell line) in the flank area. The tumor length, width, and the proliferation index were measured, and the splenic leukocytes were studied. In addition, the mouse TRAMP-C2 cells and two human PCa cell lines LNCaP and PC-3 were cultured with NR, EGPs and AGEs, and LNCaP and PC-3 were further cultured with the conditioned medium generated from human macrophages. The PCa cell proliferation, and the cytokine/chemokine production and iNOS expression by macrophages were determined. The results showed that EGPs promoted prostate tumor growth most in vivo, and PCa cell proliferation only when the presence of macrophages in vitro. In addition, EGPs activated the production of most cytokines/chemokines examined, with IL-10 and MIP-1β unregulated most, and decreased the iNOS expression in macrophage. In conclusion, EGPs promoted PCa possibly by modulating macrophages to become prostate tumor-associated M2, which produced high levels of IL-10 and MIP-1β.

The detection of hot atomic hydrogen and heavy atoms and ions at high altitudes around close-in extrasolar giant planets (EGPs) such as HD209458b implies that these planets have hot and rapidly escaping atmospheres that extend to several planetary radii. These characteristics, however, cannot be generalized to all close-in EGPs. The thermal escape mechanism and mass loss rate from EGPs depend on a complex interplay between photochemistry and radiative transfer driven by the stellar UV radiation. In this study, we explore how these processes change under different levels of irradiation on giant planets with different characteristics. We confirm that there are two distinct regimes of thermal escape from EGPs, and that the transition between these regimes is relatively sharp. Our results have implications for thermal mass loss rates from different EGPs that we discuss in the context of currently known planets and the detectability of their upper atmospheres.

Abstract:
Abstract Early glycation products (EGPs) are proteins modified with reducing sugar moieties. They are generated in the first step of Maillard reaction/glycation, and are precursors for the advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). This modification enhances the physiochemical properties of proteins (e.g. solubility), and has been proposed as a strategy to improve food protein qualities. However, the health effects of EGPs are rarely known. Our previous studies suggested that EGPs are anti-inflammatory. In contrast, AGEs are pro-inflammatory, and tightly associated with aging and hyperglycemia. It was hypothesized that EGPs were protective for type 1 diabetes (T1D) through modulating the immune homeostasis. Food-borne EGPs were produced from a whey protein isolate-glucose model system. Six-week-old nondiabetic non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice were dosed with water, non-reacted samples (NR) and EGPs up for 8 wks. Body weight and blood glucose levels (BGLs) were measured weekly; diabetic incidence (BGLs > 200 mg/dL) was recorded; glucose tolerance test and insulin tolerance test were conducted monthly; sera were separated; and spleen and thymus were harvested for flow cytometry analysis of the immune cell populations. The results showed that EGP-treated NOD mice exhibited significantly lower BGLs, delayed diabetes onset, less responsive to glucose challenge, and more sensitive to insulin challenge than water and NR-treated mice. Moreover, the diabetic NOD females displayed lower or even normal BGLs after EGP treatment. The flow cytometric data showed that EGP-treated mice had a significantly higher CD4/CD8 ratio than NR-treated mice. In conclusion, EGPs protected T1D mice against hyperglycemia through altering immune balance.

Abstract:
BACKGROUND At present, laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is the main surgical treatment for gallstones. But, after gallbladder removal, there are many complications. Therefore, it is hoped to remove stones while preserving the function of the gallbladder, and with the development of endoscopic technology, natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery came into being. AIM To compare the quality of life, perioperative indicators, adverse events after LC and transgastric natural orifice transluminal endoscopic gallbladder-preserving surgery (EGPS) in patients with gallstones. METHODS Patients who were admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from 2020 to 2022 were retrospectively collected. We adopted propensity score matching (1:1) to compare EGPS and LC patients. RESULTS A total of 662 cases were collected, of which 589 cases underwent LC, and 73 cases underwent EGPS. Propensity score matching was performed, and 40 patients were included in each of the groups. In the EGPS group, except the gastrointestinal defecation (P = 0.603), the total score, physical well-being, mental well-being, and gastrointestinal digestion were statistically significant compared with the preoperative score after surgery (P < 0.05). In the LC group, except the mental well-being, the total score, physical well-being, gastrointestinal digestion, the gastrointestinal defecation was statistically significant compared with the preoperative score after surgery (P < 0.05). When comparing between groups, gastrointestinal defecation had significantly difference (P = 0.002) between the two groups, there was no statistically significant difference in the total postoperative score and the other three subscales. In the surgery duration, hospital stay and cost, LC group were lower than EGPS group. The recurrence factors of gallstones after EGPS were analyzed: and recurrence was not correlated with gender, age, body mass index, number of stones, and preoperative score. CONCLUSION Whether EGPS or LC, it can improve the patient’s symptoms, and the EGPS has less impact on the patient’s defecation. It needed to, prospective, multicenter, long-term follow-up, large-sample related studies to prove.

Eosinophilic granulocytes are major effector cells in inflammation. Extracellular deposition of toxic eosinophilic granule proteins (EGPs), but not the presence of intact eosinophils, is crucial for their functional effect in situ. As even recent morphometric approaches to quantify the involvement of eosinophils in inflammation have been only based on cell counting, we developed a new method for the cell‐independent quantification of EGPs by image analysis of immunostaining. Highly sensitive, automated immunohistochemistry was done on paraffin sections of inflammatory skin diseases with 4 different primary antibodies against EGPs. Image analysis of immunostaining was performed by colour translation, linear combination and automated thresholding. Using strictly standardized protocols, the assay was proven to be specific and accurate concerning segmentation in 8916 fields of 520 sections, well reproducible in repeated measurements and reliable over 16 weeks observation time. The method may be valuable for the cell‐independent segmentation of immunostaining in other applications as well.

Abstract:
This study evaluated the effects of serum (egpS) and follicular fluid (egpFF) from estrus guinea pigs as in vitro maturation (IVM) supplements for natural cycle guinea pig oocytes. Two experiments were conducted: the first assessed three IVM media, a commercial medium (CMOM) and two homemade media (HMOM-P and HMOM-S), for oocyte in vitro maturation using 615 bovine oocytes, while the second evaluated the incorporation of 5%, 10%, and 20% egpFF or egpS into IVM media for 1744 guinea pig oocytes. Initially, we optimized the IVM base medium using bovine oocytes to determine the most suitable culture conditions. The results obtained from these experiments served as a critical foundation for subsequent supplementation trials conducted with guinea pig oocytes. The oocytes were cultured in 70 μL drops under controlled atmospheric conditions, and maturation rates were assessed based on cumulus cell expansion and nuclear progression. The HMOM-S medium significantly enhanced cumulus cell expansion (72.5 ± 2.88%) compared with the CMOM medium (57.7 ± 5.33%; p < 0.05). Supplementation with egpFF at 5% (68.8 ± 6.22%), 10% (76.3 ± 5.39%), and 20% (80.9 ± 6.22%) significantly improved both cumulus cell expansion and nuclear progression in high-quality oocytes (types A and B), compared to the control group (43.3 ± 4.82%). Conversely, supplementation with egpS did not have a significant effect on cumulus cell expansion (p > 0.05); however, it notably improved nuclear maturation in low-quality oocytes (type C) at concentrations of 10% and 20% (p < 0.05). This resulted in an overall improvement in maturation outcomes, particularly for oocytes with compromised initial quality. These findings demonstrated that the IVM of guinea pig oocytes using HMOM-S medium was significantly enhanced by the presence of egpFF, whereas egpS supplementation exhibited a less pronounced effect on IVM outcomes.

Natural gas scarcity poses a significant risk to the global economy. The risk of production loss due to natural gas scarcity can be transferred to downstream economies through globalized supply chains. Therefore, it is important to quantify and analyze how natural gas scarcity in some regions affects the Belt and Road (B&R) economies. The embodied natural gas scarcity risks (EGSRs) of B&R economies are assessed and the EGSR transmission network is constructed. The built network shows a small-world nature. This illustrates that any interruption in key countries will quickly spread to neighboring countries, potentially affecting the global economy. The top countries, including Turkey, China, Ukraine, and India are identified in EGSR exports, which also have relatively high values of closeness centrality. The findings illustrate that the shortage of natural gas supply in these countries may have a significant impact on downstream countries or sectors and the resulting economic losses spread rapidly. These countries are critical to the resilience of the B&R economies to natural gas scarcity. The top nations, including Turkmenistan, Macedonia, and Georgia are also identified in EGSR imports, highlighting their vulnerability to natural gas scarcity. Further, the community analysis of the network provides a fresh perspective for formulating fair and reasonable allocation policies of natural gas resources and minimizing the large-scale spread of economic losses caused by natural gas scarcity.

Abstract:
The present study was carried out to determine the bioactivity of polysaccharides extracted from Euglena gracilis (EgPs). These were characterized by FT-IR and GC-MS. Cytotoxicity analyses (MTT) were performed on healthy human gingival fibroblast cell lines (HGF-1), obtaining an IC50 of 228.66 µg mL−1, and cell lines with anticancer activity for colon cancer (HCT-116), breast cancer (MCF-7), human leukemia (U-937, HL-60) and lung cancer (NCl-H460), showing that EgPs have anticancer activity, mainly in HTC-116 cells (IC50 = 26.1 µg mL−1). The immunological assay determined the immunomodulatory capacity of polysaccharides for the production of proinflammatory cytokines IL-6 and TNF-α in murine macrophages (RAW 264.7) and TNF-α in human monocytes (THP-1). It was observed that the EgPs had a stimulating capacity in the synthesis of these interleukins. The antioxidant capacity of polysaccharides and their biomass were analyzed using the ABTS method (18.30 ± 0.14% and (5.40 ± 0.56%, respectively, and the DPPH method for biomass (17.79 ± 0.57%). We quantitatively profiled HGF-1 proteins by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry analysis, coupled with 2-plex tandem mass tag labelling, in normal cells. In total, 1346 proteins were identified and quantified with high confidence, of which five were considered to be overexpressed. AbstractThe atmospheres of close-in Extrasolar Giant Planets (EGPs) experience important stellar radiation, raising the question of the heat redistribution around the planetary surface and of the importance of photochemistry effects for their spectral properties. They experience mass loss via quasi-thermal escape of their lightest elements. They rotate and experience tidal effects. Model atmospheres struggle to include even part of this complexity. Some address the dynamics of the atmospheres as a whole (3D) as subjected to rotation, or as patches of the surface (wind studies), compromising on the details of the composition and radiative/convective properties. Others solve the composition and radiative/convective properties, compromising on dynamical effects such as rotation. In this paper, we review existing model atmospheres for EGPs, and present the first high spatial resolution local (as opposed to global) 2/3D radiation hydrodynamic simulations of EGP atmospheres including dust cloud formation.

ABSTRACT Observations of brown dwarfs (BDs), free-floating planetary-mass objects, and directly imaged extrasolar giant planets (EGPs) exhibit rich evidence of large-scale weather. Cloud radiative feedback has been proposed as a potential mechanism driving the vigorous atmospheric circulation on BDs and directly imaged EGPs, and yet it has not been demonstrated in three-dimensional dynamical models at relevant conditions. Here, we present a series of atmospheric circulation models that self-consistently couple dynamics with idealized cloud formation and its radiative effects. We demonstrate that vigorous atmospheric circulation can be triggered and self-maintained by cloud radiative feedback. Typical isobaric temperature variation could reach over 100 K and horizontally averaged wind speed could be several hundreds of $\, {\rm m\, s^{-1}}$. The circulation is dominated by cloud-forming and clear-sky vortices that evolve over time-scales from several to tens of hours. The typical horizontal length-scale of dominant vortices is closed to the Rossby deformation radius, showing a linear dependence on the inverse of rotation rate. Stronger rotation tends to weaken vertical transport of vapour and clouds, leading to overall thinner clouds. Domain-mean outgoing radiative flux exhibits variability over time-scales of tens of hours due to the statistical evolution of storms. Different bottom boundary conditions in the models could lead to qualitatively different circulation near the observable layer. The circulation driven by cloud radiative feedback represents a robust mechanism generating significant surface inhomogeneity as well as irregular flux time variability. Our results have important implications for near-infrared (IR) colours of dusty BDs and EGPs, including the scatter in the near-IR colour–magnitude diagram and the viewing-geometry-dependent near-IR colours.

Organic-rich substrates from organic waste effluents are ideal sources for hydrogen production based on the circular economy concept. In this study, a data-driven approach was employed in modeling hydrogen production from palm oil mill effluents and activated sludge waste. Seven models built on support vector machine (SVM) and Gaussian process regression (GPR) were employed for the modeling of the hydrogen production from the waste sources. The SVM was incorporated with linear kernel function (LSVM), quadratic kernel function (QSVM), cubic kernel function (CSVM), and Gaussian fine kernel function (GFSVM). While the GPR was incorporated with the rotational quadratic kernel function (RQGPR), squared exponential kernel function (SEGPR), and exponential kernel function (EGPR). The model performance revealed that the SVM-based models did not show impressive performance in modeling the hydrogen production from the palm oil mill effluent, as indicated by the R2 of −0.01, 0.150, and 0.143 for LSVM, QSVM, and CSVM, respectively. Similarly, the SVM-based models did not perform well in modeling the hydrogen production from activated sludge, as evidenced by R2 values of 0.040, 0.190, and 0.340 for LSVM, QSVM, and CSVM, respectively. On the contrary, the SEGPR, RQGPR, SEGPR, and EGPR models displayed outstanding performance in modeling the prediction of hydrogen production from both oil palm mill effluent and activated sludge, with over 90% of the datasets explaining the variation in the model output. With the R2 > 0.9, the predicted hydrogen production was consistent with the SEGPR, RQGPR, SEGPR, and EGPR with minimized prediction errors. The level of importance analysis revealed that all the input parameters are relevant in the production of hydrogen. However, the influent chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentration and the medium temperature significantly influenced the hydrogen production from palm oil mill effluent, whereas the pH of the medium and the temperature significantly influenced the hydrogen production from the activated sludge.

13 genetic types of dangerous exogenous geological processes (EGP) have been developed on the territory of the Ural Federal District (UFD). This work aims to illustrate the system of accounting and accumulating information on the manifestations of dangerous EGPs of each genetic type. When conducting the state monitoring of the subsurface state (SMSS), the information about the EGP manifestations is accumulated in the structured data arrays (SDAs), which are organized for each subject of the Russian Federation within the UFD. The sources of information are the results of areal regular and one-time engineering and geological surveys, materials from official open and stock sources. On the basis of accumulated data, we have concluded that the most common genetic types of dangerous EGPs in the UFD territory are gully erosion (28.4 %) and karst-suffusion process (21.5 %), which make up about half of the total number of all recorded manifestations. The operation of the information and analytical base of the SMSS EGP allows to perform accounting, analytical (including the identification of patterns of EGP development for a selected time interval), reporting and statistical functions, increases the reliability of seasonal and annual forecasts.

Experimental studies have shown that bioethanol production from biomass sources has been reported to be influenced by several process parameters. It is not entirely known, however, how the interaction of these factors affects the concentration of bioethanol production. In this study, the use of Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) in predictive modeling of bioethanol production from fountain grass has been investigated. Parametric analysis showing the interaction effect of time, pH, temperature, and yeast extract on the bioethanol production was examined. The effect of kernel functions on the performance of the GPR in modeling the prediction of bioenergy output was also examined. The study shows that the kernel function, namely, rotational quadratic (RQGPR), squared exponential (SEGPR), Matern 5/2 (MGPR), exponential (EGPR), and the optimizable (Opt.GPR.), had varying effects on the performance of the GPR. Coefficients of determination (R2) of 0.648, 0.670, 0.667, 0.762, and 0.993 were obtained for the RQGPR, SEGPR, MGPR, EGPR, OptGPR, respectively. The OptGPR with R2 of 0.993 and RMSE of 45.13 displayed the best performance. The input parameters analysis revealed that the pH of the fermentation medium significantly influences bioethanol production. A proper understanding of how the various process variables affect bioethanol production will help in the real-time optimization of the process in the eventuality of scale-up.

Lokasi perangkat 2G sampai 5G berada dalam satu lokasi yang sama berdampak pada penggunaan perangkat dan jalur transmisi yang sama pula, sehingga utilisasi transmisi cepat mengalami congestion. Untuk mengatasi congestion digunakan metode Link Aggregation (LAG) untuk menambah kapasitas antara koneksi Indoor Unit (IDU) dengan router. Untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas implementasi LAG digunakan kerangka kerja Performance Information Economics Control Efficiency Service (PIECES). The location of 2G to 5G devices in the same location has an impact on the use of the same devices and transmission lines, so the utilization of transmission also getting congestion. To overcome congestion the Link Aggregation (LAG) method is used to add the capacity between Indoor Unit (IDU) and router connection. To evaluate the effectiveness of LAG implementation, the Performance Information Economics Control Efficiency Service (PIECES) framework is used. From the evaluation of PIECES framework, it can be concluded that implementation LAG make link capacity increased from 1x1 Gbps to 2x1 Gbps, congestion decreased from 68.07% to 34.60%, performance increased 50% and throughput increased 10.63 Mbps.Keywords: Cellular transmission, congestion, capacity, LAG, PIECES

The Working Party on International Nuclear Data Evaluation Co-operation Subgroup 47 (WPECSG47) entitled "Use of Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database for Nuclear Data Validation" was organised from 2019 and 2022 with the objectives to promote more systematic and wider use of shielding benchmark experiments in nuclear data (ND) and transport code validation and development, to provide feedback on the Shielding Integral Benchmark Archive and Database (SINBAD), and to promote its further development in coordination with the Expert Group on Physics of Reactor Systems (EGPRS). Altogether 9 meetings, the large majority (8) held remotely, were organised during the past 3 years to discuss the experience on the use of SINBAD, evaluation of new benchmarks and improvements to be contributed to the database which was severely neglected and lacking maintenance over the past ⇠ 10+ years. Several proposals for new or updated benchmark evaluation were presented and discussed, such as FNG copper, LLNL pulsed spheres, CIAE iron sphere, KFK 1977 gamma measurements, Rez Fe sphere, ASPIS, ORNL Oxygen broomstick, TIARA and others. Complementing the database with new features was also discussed, for example providing the nuclear data sensitivity profiles more systematically would facilitate and better guide the use of data. Information on the geometry, (radiation source) and materials available in CAD format is expected to allow an easier and less error prone reference for computational model preparation and a potential input to CAD based workflows. Inputs for various transport codes and other benchmark data from participants have been shared via the NEA GitLab which could hopefully in the future evolve and form a bases for critically checked and validated benchmark data. Future development of SINBAD will be monitored by EGPRS and the newly created SINBAD Task Force.

Numerous studies have used the dual-tracer method to assess postprandial glucose metabolism. The present experiments were undertaken to determine whether the marked tracer nonsteady state that occurs with the dual-tracer approach after food ingestion introduces error when it is used to simultaneously measure both meal glucose appearance (Ra meal) and endogenous glucose production (EGP). To do so, a novel triple-tracer approach was designed: 12 subjects ingested a mixed meal containing [1-13C]glucose while [6-3H]glucose and [6,6-2H2]glucose were infused intravenously in patterns that minimized the change in the plasma ratios of [6-3H]glucose to [1-13C]glucose and of [6,6-2H2]glucose to endogenous glucose, respectively. Ra meal and EGP measured with this approach were essentially model independent, since non-steady-state error was minimized by the protocol. Initial splanchnic glucose extraction (ISE) was 12.9% ± 3.4%, and suppression of EGP (EGPS) was 40.3% ± 4.1%. In contrast, when calculated with the dual-tracer one-compartment model, ISE was higher ( P < 0.05) and EGPS was lower ( P < 0.005) than observed with the triple-tracer approach. These errors could only be prevented by using time-varying volumes different for Ra meal and EGP. Analysis of the dual-tracer data with a two-compartment model reduced but did not totally avoid the problems associated with marked postprandial changes in the tracer-to-tracee ratios. We conclude that results from previous studies that have used the dual-tracer one-compartment model to measure postprandial carbohydrate metabolism need to be reevaluated and that the triple-tracer technique may provide a useful approach for doing so.

This research presents a comparison between two numerical approaches developed and later compared for studying External Gear Pumps (EGPs). Models have been developed for studying pumps with helical gears. Firstly, a three-dimensional (3D) CFD numerical model has been built using a commercial code. Then, a new tool called EgeMATor MP+, completely developed by the authors and capable of completely simulating this pump’s typologies is presented. Thanks to different subroutines developed in different interconnected environments, this tool can fully analyze those pumps, starting from the drawing. Both numerical approaches have been detailed, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses and the tweaking required to reach more accurate results. Both numerical models have been set up with the same boundary conditions to obtain a more accurate comparison. Comparisons have been performed using tests performed on a commercial pump taken as reference, focusing on steady-state volumetric performance as well as the transient features of the outlet port pressure oscillations. The comparison of the (Q,p) characteristics showed that the 3D CFD numerical model has a slightly better accuracy, but both models have errors that fall into the uncertainty range of the experimental measurements. In addition, the pressure ripples comparison verified good agreements, where also the double flank behavior of the pump is predicted. While comparing the two simulation approaches, the paper highlights the limits and strengths of each one of the two approaches. In particular, it is shown how both models can match the experimental results considering proper assumptions. The paper constitutes a unique contribution to the field of numerical simulation of EGPs and represents a useful reference to designers looking for suitable methods for simulating existing or novel design solutions.

Background: Lung cancer is among the most prevalent and fatal cancers worldwide. Traditional diagnostic methods, such as computed tomography, are not ideal for screening due to their high cost and radiation exposure. In contrast, blood-based diagnostics, as non-invasive approaches, are expected to reduce patient burden, thereby increasing screening participation and ultimately improving survival rates. However, conventional tumor markers have shown limited effectiveness in early detection. Methods: We recruited 199 patients with lung cancer and 590 healthy volunteers. Nine tumor markers (CEA, CA19-9, CYFRA, AFP, PSA, CA125, CA15-3, SCC antigen, and NCC-ST439) were analyzed, along with enriched glycopeptides (EGPs) derived from serum proteins using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry. Machine learning models, including decision trees and deep learning approaches, were employed to develop a predictive model for accurately distinguishing lung cancer from healthy controls based on tumor markers and EGP profiles. Results: We found that α1-antitrypsin with fully sialylated biantennary glycan, attached to asparagine 271 (AT271-FSG), and α2-macroglobulin with fully sialylated biantennary glycan, attached to asparagine 70 (MG70-FSG), could significantly distinguish between patients with lung cancer and healthy individuals. Comprehensive Serum Glycopeptide Spectra Analysis (CSGSA), integrating nine conventional tumor markers and 1688 EGPs using a machine learning model, enhanced diagnostic accuracy and achieved an ROC-AUC score of 0.935. It also identified stage I cases with an ROC-AUC of 0.914, indicating the possibility of early-stage detection. The PPV reached 2.8%, which was sufficient for practical application. Conclusions: This method represents a significant advancement in cancer diagnostics, combining multiple biomarkers with cutting-edge machine learning to improve the early detection of lung cancer.
