Kibby, M. D., University of Western Sydney, and Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. "Real men : representations of masculinity in the eighties cinema." THESIS_FHSS_XXX_Kibby_M.xml, 1997. http://handle.uws.edu.au:8081/1959.7/701.

Full text
Abstract:
Social, economic, and cultural changes in the 1970s brought about a level of anxiety as to what constituted masculine identity in an era of rising unemployment; diminishing paternal authority within the family; a feminising of the workplace accompanying technological development; and the insistence on 'equal rights' by homosexual, women's and racial minority groups. The feeling of panic that accompanied the rapid social change of the period was reflected in a body of mainstream American films that have come to categorise 'eighties cinema'. These films depicted a style of masculinity that centered on tough, muscular bodies; violence that was both sadistic and masochistic; sexuality that was simultaneously homophobic and homoerotic; patriarchy restored through a refigured father that incorporated the maternal; the creation of all-male worlds through the exclusion of the feminine; and a nostalgia for a stable masculine identity derived more from a fear of the future than a remembrance of the past. The representations of masculinity in these films can be seen as part of a New Right Movement, symptomatic of Reaganite values. The films can also be read as a postmodern play with the images of another generation, in an acting out of excessive cultural expectations. The movies' version of masculinity also offered a fantasy space, providing heroism and power as a counterpoint to dissatisfaction and impotence. In encompassing elements of all of these, a conservative role playing that offered the protection of fantasy and the fun of a game, the films functioned as masquerade. This group of films were a masculine masquerade, in that they were an enactment of a conservative version of masculinity that was a pleasurable game of excess, and at the same time a defence against anxiety in the face of changing social patterns. The masquerade disguised as a quest for the phallus, hiding both the desire, and the refusal, to renounce masculine social power

Rudnick, Isidore L. "Explorations: a Composition for Eighteen-Piece Jazz Ensemble." Thesis, University of North Texas, 1992. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc500898/.

Full text
Abstract:
Explorations is a three-movement experimental work for eighteen-piece jazz ensemble consisting of the following instruments: soprano saxophone, alto saxophone, two tenor saxophones, baritone saxophone, two trumpets, two flugelhorns, three trombones, bass trombone, electric guitar, vibraphone, contrabass, drums and piano. The duration of the work will approximate twelve minutes. The first movement features geometric configurations of spatially notated sound which emphasize percussive qualities of the ensemble (i.e. key clicks, tongue slaps, mouthpiece pops, etc.). Tone clusters of various pitch, texture and dynamics derived from blues scales provide the source material for the second movement. A slowly developing dynamic counterpoint creates the sound mass texture and delineates the form. Movement Three features a contrapuntal poly-metric collage of variations on a four-note theme. The collage provides the background fabric for an exchange of periodic and aperiodic events.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Johann Sebastian Bach used his own organ compositions when teaching his students. Seeking to understand and learn from Bach's organ pedagogy, many scholars have sought to establish a list of Bach's organ works according to difficulty. These arranged lists are briefly summarized in chapter two of the present thesis, and it is shown that none of them have sufficiently explained the rationale for deciding difficulty. Chapter three establishes and describes criteria according to which Bach's organ works can be analyzed. Chapter four demonstrates how these criteria are to be applied within a selected corpus of J.S. Bach's organ works, the Leipzig versions of the Great Eighteen Chorale Preludes. The criteria and resulting arrangement according to difficulty answer a problem within Bach scholarship by providing an objective standard by which teachers and students can select level-appropriate works for purposes of learning and performance.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis examines the filmic representation of teenage identity in East German films which were produced in the late eighties and early nineties. Questions of 'identity' assumed a prominent position within the political and cultural discourses at the time of the Wende when the structures within East German society changed dramatically. Academic and public interest in the attitudes, values and the state of mind of the young generation in East Germany was immense because the analysis of the position of the young generation always reveals important facts about relations of power, ideological formations, and belief systems. This thesis looks at 10 films (many of which have not been the subject of academic study before) which have teenage protagonists at the centre of their narratives. It explores ways in which these films represented the young generation of the former GDR and, as cultural products, contributed to the construct of 'East German youth' within the public discourse. To provide the contextual framework for the analysis, the discourses on East German youth, DEFA, and GDR identity, are reviewed and developments within DEF A with regard to the production of films for a young audience are discussed. The close textual study analyses the representation of identification processes which are typical for teenagers, identifies and discusses salient motifs, themes, narrative devices, and stylistic choices. Common features, in particular the metonymic use of the concept of 'family', narrative perspective with regard to the target audience, and the film texts' interpretation of contemporary social developments are explored in detail and discussed within the context of the competing discourses at the time of the films' release. The analysis shows that the films captured key elements of the social and political transition in East Germany. It helps to trace shifts in the cultural discourse at an important juncture in recent German history and to put myths and simplifications about this period into context.

Abstract:
Many piano teachers agree that suitable repertoire motivates their students to learn and practice their instrument. Asking students to learn different categories of repertoire might be a good approach for piano teachers to motivate and maintain their students’ musical interests. However, how do teachers evaluate what kinds of repertoire is presented in the teaching material that is available to them? The purpose of this study is to review the pieces found in North-American piano method books in order to provide an inventory of the different categories of repertoire found in each series and to calculate the proportion of piano repertoire belonging in each category. Consequently, this research will allow piano teachers to see more clearly which kinds of repertoire are in a method book and help select the most appropriate method books for their students.

Shaw, Caitlin. "Remediating the eighties : nostalgia and retro in British screen fiction from 2005 to 2011." Thesis, De Montfort University, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/2086/11153.

Full text
Abstract:
This doctoral thesis studies a cycle of British film and television fictions produced in the years 2005-2011 and set retrospectively in the 1980s. In its identification and in-depth textual and contextual analysis of what it terms the ‘Eighties Cycle’, it offers a significant contribution to British film and television scholarship. It examines eighties-set productions as members of a sub-genre of British recent-past period dramas begging unique consideration outside of comparisons to British ‘heritage’ dramas, to contemporary social dramas or to actual history. It shows that incentives for depicting the eighties are wide-ranging; consequently, it situates productions within their cultural and industrial contexts, exploring how these dictate which eighties codes are cited and how they are textually used. The Introduction delineates the Eighties Cycle, establishes the project’s academic and historical basis and outlines its approach. Chapter 1 situates the work within the academic fields that inform it, briefly surveying histories and socio-cultural studies before examining and assessing existing scholarship on Eighties Cycle productions alongside critical literature on 1980s, 90s and contemporary British film and television; nostalgia and retro; modern media, history and memory; British and American period screen fiction; and transmedia storytelling. Chapter 2 considers how a selection of productions employing ‘the eighties’ as a visual and audio style invoke and assign meaning to commonly recognised aesthetic codes according to their targeted audiences and/or intended messages. Chapter 3 investigates semi-autobiographical dramas that bear the mark of remembering, from the vantage point of the present, a time of fast expansions and shifts in the global media landscape. Chapter 4 explores how historical fictions locate historical knowledge in the decade’s refraction through modern media and reconstruct, deconstruct or ironise these mediations to meet particular cultural or industrial demands. Chapter 5 identifies two spin-offs that exploit shifts toward transmedia production and distribution by using eighties iconography as the set pieces for an immersive fantasy world, considering how and why their source texts are adapted and what this implies for past representation. Finally, the Conclusion reviews the project’s findings and briefly considers possible factors for the cycle’s deceleration and transformation after 2011. Ultimately, this project sees the Eighties Cycle as a by-product of shifts in Britain toward advanced globalisation and new mediation that have facilitated access to domestic and international mediated recent pasts. These productions operate within a distinct recent-past period screen fiction mode, engaging audiences equipped with comprehensive notions of the eighties as circulated in media. Meaning is produced in how these notions are structured; sometimes they are lauded, sometimes parodied, sometimes criticised or ironised, and sometimes they are simply cited for the sheer pleasure of recall.

Full text
Abstract:
Objectives: This study aimed to conduct an epidemiological study of the prevalence and aetiology of traumatic dental injuries (TDI) in a sample of students aged 15 to 18 years resident in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. A special interest was to identify the role of factors such as socio-economic status (SES), family structure, physical fitness and risk taking behaviour. It was hypothesised that adolescents experiencing TDI tended to have a lower SES, tended to live with non-birth parents, performed more risk taking behaviours and were less fit. Material and Methods: A random sample of 6,504 fifteen-to-eighteen-year-olds from all senior high schools in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, was selected. Each completed a supervised questionnaire and was examined using standard clinical procedures. Results: The participation rate was 90.4%. Those participants that were male (OR=1.64, 95% CI: 1.43, 1.88), that lived with at least a non-birth parent (OR=1.28, 95% CI: 1.01, 1.63), that had a family head with a secondary level of education (OR=1.29, 95% CI: 1.11, 1.51), that had a higher Adolescent Risk Taking Scale score (OR=1.06, 95% CI: 1.04, 1.09), that had an overjet larger than five millimetres (OR=1.66, 95% CI: 1.41, 1.95), or that showed inadequate lip coverage (OR=1.36, 95% CI: 1.19, 1.55), were at greater risk of TDI. The prevalence of TDI was 20.0% (95% CI: 19.1%, 21.1%). Main causes of TDI were sports and leisure accidents (23.8%), followed by eating (15.8%), falls (15.3%), traffic accidents (7.6%), collisions (5.6%), inappropriate use of teeth (3.8%) and violence (2.9%). Up to 22.2% of TDI had unknown causes. II Conclusions: In this study, risk taking behaviour was the leading determinant of TDI, greater than gender, family structure, family head's level of education, overjet and lip coverage. The prevalence of TDI in Taiwan was similar to that found in other countries. Sports and leisure accidents were the most common cause of TDI.

Mills, Ian. "The historical position and reception of J. S. Bach's 'Great Eighteen' and Orgelbüchlein Choralvorspiele, 1750-1850." Thesis, Queen's University Belfast, 2016. http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?uin=uk.bl.ethos.709678.

Full text
Abstract:
The near-century hiatus between the publication of J. S. Bach's Clovierubung III (1739) and Sechs Chorale von verschiedener Art (c.1747), and the posthumous issuing of his remaining anthologies of organ Choralvorspiele—the Orgelbuchlein and 'Great Eighteen' (1845-46)—has contributed to the impression that his chorale-based organ repertoire endured a period of dormancy in the late-18’1' century prior to a resurgence as part of the wider Bach 'revival' in the early decades of the 1800s. In challenging certain aspects of this 'death and resurrection' paradigm, this thesis attempts to shed new light on this research area by considering the reception of Bach's unpublished organ chorale preludes as separate theoretical and practical phenomena. An examination of theoretical treatises, encyclopedic and lexicographical sources, and periodicals seeks to establish the changing historical position of the Lutheran chorale and its related sub-genres in the minds of those 18th-century performers, worshippers, theorists and enthusiasts who interacted with the genre. Secondly, beginning with Breitkopf s landmark publication of J. S. Bach's Choral-Vorspiele fur die Orgel mit einem und zwey Klavieren und Pedal in Leipzig ([1800]—06), the practical reception of these collections is considered as being characterised by the increased availability of this repertoire in print. The publication of near-complete volumes in Leipzig and London by Felix Mendelssohn in 1845-46 invites a particular emphasis on the simultaneous rise of liturgical and quasi-liturgical performances in England. Reevaluating this 'revival', this study focuses on two hitherto uninvestigated strands, namely: notable patterns in the dissemination of manuscript sources which suggest the heightened popularity of some individual works above others; and the activities of those key personalities who ensured an afterlife for these settings as marketable collections.

Abstract:
Thesis (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Architecture, 2006.
Vita. Leaf 155 blank.
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 145-154).
This thesis investigates the history of the petite maison (otherwise known as a little house) in eighteenth-century France. In particular, I focus on a popular libertine novella written in 1758 by Jean-Francois de Bastide entitled appropriately enough La Petite maison. In the novella, Bastide conflates concepts of vice and virtue in his descriptions of the little house. By doing so, the author set into play a terminological confusion of meaning that rendered the house as a problem that required a resolution. This thesis tracks the resolution of the ambiguous meaning of the little house in the work of the late eighteenth-century architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux. I look at three different projects by Ledoux in order to trace how he transformed the "little house" as a literary trope illustrated by the author Bastide into a country house architectural typology. The first project discussed is a built music pavilion designed for fetes, entertainments and pleasures at Louveciennes for the mistress of Louis XV named Madame du Barry. The second project is an imagined house for a Marchande de modes (woman milliner tailor) represented in Ledoux's treatise entitled Architecture considered in relation to art, mores, and legislation, published in 1804.
(cont.) The third imagined project, an institutional monastery cum brothel entitled Oikema is also represented in his treatise. This thesis shows how Ledoux's architectural typology of the little house resulted in nothing less than a formulation of a modem architectural conception of house and home. By demonstrating that the little house is located at the fault lines of eighteenth-century moral philosophy, manners, architecture, sexuality, class, and nation building this thesis removes the building type from the historical margins that it has, until now, been relegated to. What is at stake, here, in this discussion of the petite maison is nothing less than the history of the formulation of a modem architectural syntax of domesticity. In this context, discussions of morality in elite discourse had forced sexuality out into the open. This thesis questions how the little house functioned as a vessel by which the language of sexuality came to be explored in both architecture and architectural theory in the twilight years of the eighteenth-century.

D'Arcy, Jaclyn. "Sustainability Reporting of Eighteen Fortune 500 General Merchandising Companies: How These Companies Address World Environmental and Social Issues." Scholarship @ Claremont, 2011. http://scholarship.claremont.edu/cmc_theses/108.

Full text
Abstract:
Climate change affects the health of people and the environment. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has published research that explains the danger of greenhouse gas emissions on humans, wildlife, and the planet. Initiatives and policies are enacted every day to counter the harm that is done to the environment. Many companies now publish environmental impact reports or Corporate Sustainability Reports (CSR) to promote industry transparency. Participating in environmental and social initiatives is also a competitive advantage for these Fortune 500 companies. Customers can support a company based on their environmental friendliness or social responsibility. Companies are then encouraged to promote social issues like workplace diversity, women in management, and community development; and environmental issues like habitat conservation, green building, and energy reduction. The general merchandising sector companies scored from highest to lowest in the following order: Walmart, Nordstrom, Sears Holdings, Macy’s, PPR, Target, Kohl’s, JC Penney, Dollar General, Belk, Neiman Marcus, Shopko Stores, Follett, Family Dollar, Dillards, Newegg.com, Michael’s Stores, and Fry’s Electronics. These companies represent the most successful companies based on their strategies to reduce their environmental impact. Extended Producer Responsibility, green building, and community initiatives are three categories that are imperative to discuss when addressing environmental and social reporting.

Ngai, Ka-yan, and 魏嘉茵. "Administration of oral sucrose to reduce immunization-induced pain anddistress for infants one to eighteen months of age." Thesis, The University of Hong Kong (Pokfulam, Hong Kong), 2012. http://hub.hku.hk/bib/B48336026.

Full text
Abstract:
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends childhood immunization as one of the necessary preventive health measures to reduce the chance of contracting infectious diseases in children. Despite the proven benefits, immunization is associated with pain and management of immunization-induced pain has been neglected in current local practice. Administration of oral sucrose is found to be an effective pain-relieving intervention during routine immunizations as evidenced by seven systematic reviews. This simple intervention is encouraged to be carried out during routine immunizations in community settings such as Maternal and Child Health Centres in Hong Kong. Evidence-based practice guidelines and implementation plans are set up in carrying out the new practice. Stakeholders are identified with communication strategies noted. In addition, pilot testing and evaluation are also necessary to improve the new practice. It is expected that the implementation of the intervention can bring about obvious positive outcomes for infants, parents, nurses and the health care system by means of reducing infants’ pain and distress during routine immunizations.

Long, Hamp James. "A congregational model for improving positive self-esteem of Black children ages, ten through eighteen, in two Baptist churches." DigitalCommons@Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center, 1997. http://digitalcommons.auctr.edu/dissertations/AAIDP14678.

Full text
Abstract:
This work seeks to construct and implement in two Baptist churches a viable congregational model for doing youth ministry, which can be used to improve positive self-esteem in Black children, ages ten thru eighteen. Positive self-esteem is examined in the congregational settings by posing and answering six (6) questions: What is Self-Esteem? Who is God? Who am I? Who are you? Who are we in Christ? and What ought we do? These six (6) questions form the essence of positive self-esteem. The model uses family relationships between adult presenters and the intended youth, adult presentations on Christian identity and action in the congregation, field trips, Black history materials in the homes, and visual aids as the vehicles to accomplish the improvement in the positive self-esteem of the youth. The model responds to the threat to positive self-esteem of many of the youth as evidenced by racism and discrimination in American society, the presence of several indicators of negative or low self-esteem, problems in the very institutions that influence positive self-esteem, and adult perceptions of the social environment. It is based on the premise that the church must provide the family with the tools to help our children survive in this society. This will be accomplished by preparing our youth to affirm positive actions that build and affirm positive self-esteem and to reject the negative actions that counter it. This project seeks to use the extended family system and the conjugal family system of the children in their quest for positive self-esteem because of its potential as a positive influence. Finally, this work seeks to place the responsibility of the children in the hands of the entire church family, which is called to actively work to nurture them in this crucial and critical time in their lives.

Smith, Alison. "Understanding the experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people as they turn eighteen whilst subject to UK immigration control." Thesis, University of Leicester, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/2381/43022.

Full text
Abstract:
Systematic Literature Review: Nine papers pertaining to the experiences of unaccompanied asylum-seeking youth in England and Ireland were critically reviewed. An interpretative meta-synthesis identified three main analytical themes: Ubiquity of threat, impacting on powerlessness and security; Tensions and resistance, highlighting assets and means of countering threat; and Growth and future (framed by loss), pointing to the role of loss as the young people acted forwards into their futures. A rigorous quality assessment of reviewed studies found important contextual factors tended to be neglected. Implications are discussed in terms of how clinical practice might best attend to how young people seeking asylum alone are attuned to multi-level and persistent threats inherent to the post-migratory environment. Research methodologies employing reflexive, contextualised frameworks are discussed as offering utility. Greater attendance to the impact of context, particularly immigration status and access to social capital, is needed. Research Report: Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was used to explore the sense-making of four young Afghan men during interviews focused on experiences of turning eighteen whilst subject to UK immigration control. Three super-ordinate themes were presented: 'It's on me: The push and pull of control', highlighting tensions and contradictions of power; 'The threat of having nothing and being no-one', pointing to experiential loss of meaning and purpose; and 'Finding a place for struggle and resistance', attending to purposeful responses to threat. Implications are discussed relating to the need for therapeutic endeavour to be cognisant of, and responsive to, broad contextual factors when working with this group, rendering visible aspects of power and bearing witness to moments of resistance in the face of ontological insecurity. Critical Appraisal: A reflexive overview of the research project contextualised.

Linley, Lisa K. "The effect of varying levels of dietary protein on carcass composition of eleven- and eighteen-month-old male rats." Thesis, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, 1988. http://hdl.handle.net/10919/80039.

Full text
Abstract:
Carcass composition of male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 11 and 18 months, in response to varying levels of dietary protein was determined. Groups varying of ten rats of each age were fed diets containing from 1.53 to 8.05 percent protein as casein supplemented with d-1-methionine for five weeks. The 8.05% protein groups were used as controls. Carcasses were analyzed for total nitrogen and percent protein, fat, and water. Liver composition and total serum protein values were also determined. Two-way analysis of variance and Student's t-tests were used to determine significant age and diet effects. Differences in the response of the two age groups of rats were evident. Eighteen-month-old rats required more protein than the younger animals for the maintenance of body weight. When compared to control values, older rats also needed a higher level of dietary protein to maintain normal total carcass nitrogen. Fatty livers in older rats persisted at higher dietary protein levels than fatty livers in 11-month-old rats, indicating that 18-month-old rats required more protein to support adequate liver lipoprotein synthesis. These findings suggest that 18-month-old rats have a higher dietary protein requirement than 11-month-old rats. High serum protein values for older rats at lower protein levels, however, do not support this conclusion. The increased body weight and proportionally greater fat mass of older animals was a complicating factor in this study. Further research is needed to more clearly define changes in protein requirements during aging. For future studies, using rats of a more advanced age and three, rather than two, different age groups is recommended.

Sani, Livia. "Consequences and psychological support after a perinatal loss : an eighteen-month mixed longitudinal study of twenty-nine bereaved parents." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019STRAG041.

Full text
Abstract:
This research aims to evaluate the risk of complicated grief disorder (CG) and the contribution of psychological support (professional, or personal and group, and online) following a perinatal loss. 29 bereaved French parents were met for a total of five meetings : the first one, 3, 6, 12 and 18 months after the first meeting. A mixed methodology was used, drawing on qualitative interviews (evaluated through the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis and the Alceste programm) and two questionnaires (Inventory of Complicated Grief and General Health Questionnaire 28).The parents were 21 women (72%) and 8 men (28%), with a mean age of 31.4 years old. The maximum time between the child’s death and the first meeting is about 10 months, while the minimum is 22 days. 44% of deaths occurred due to medical problems and 35% to a Late Termination of Pregnancy. Only 22% of children lived (up to a maximum of 96 days) and 79% died in utero. Our research confirmed that perinatal loss is a difficult and risky event. Only more than 18 months a half after the loss, the parents reached the uncomplicated grief threshold. Participation in support groups has proved useful while online groups can influence the development of psychopathological disorders. The social role and cultural impositions of gender influence the expression of grief. Regarding the emotional support, the closeness and help of the partner and family are very important. Remembering and commemorating the child despite the passing of time and subsequent pregnancies are fundamental to move forward

Hampton, Fiona J. "Studies of the relationship between gastro-oesophageal reflux and respiratory symptoms in children under the age of eighteen months." Thesis, University of Leicester, 1991. http://hdl.handle.net/2381/34093.

Full text
Abstract:
There is evidence that gastro-oesophageal reflux can cause apnoea in infancy and chronic respiratory symptoms in children of all ages. This study aimed to investigate its importance in infants with chronic respiratory symptoms; infants with other symptoms were also studied to clarify the relationship. Fifty infants with chronic respiratory symptoms, 32 with apparent life threatening events and 25 with vomiting were studied. Forty-seven, 29 and 23 respectively underwent a twenty-four hour pH study for assessment of gastro-oesophageal reflux and 44, 16 and 7 had their respiratory function measured. For all these and 23 healthy controls a family background and symptom questionnaire was completed. A comparison of the results of pH studies and respiratory function tests between the three groups was made and the possible influences of background characteristics were assessed. The relationship between the results of pH studies and respiratory function tests within the groups was also investigated. Abnormal gastro-oesophageal reflux was found in all three groups but particular patterns of reflux were not associated with specific clinical manifestations. Infants with a family history of atopy had less gastro-oesophageal reflux. Infants whose mothers smoked in pregnancy had more abnormal respiratory function tests. There was no correlation between the degree of abnormality of pH studies and respiratory function tests although individual infants' symptoms seemed to be temporally linked. The effect of anti-reflux treatment was assessed in infants with respiratory symptoms and vomiting. This did not significantly improve gastro-oesophageal reflux, thus precluding assessment of any concomitant improvement in respiratory function tests. Further studies were undertaken to determine the reproducibility of pH study results. Considerable differences in consecutive pH studies were demonstrated and were related to biological rather than technical variation. These differences make it more difficult to demonstrate a treatment effect and may obscure patterns of reflux associated with symptoms.

Stevens, Elizabeth A. "A study of the effect of foster care reunification services on family reunification among children under the age of eighteen." DigitalCommons@Robert W. Woodruff Library, Atlanta University Center, 1997. http://digitalcommons.auctr.edu/dissertations/2007.

Full text
Abstract:
This study examined the extent to which the intervention of foster care reunification services affected family reunification among children placed in out of home care. Prior research had concluded that foster care reunification services, strengthen family systems by enhancing coping and problem solving skills as well as preserving the child's attachment and sense of belonging to the family. The ultimate outcome of full re-entry into the family system was facilitated by these services. In order to ascertain whether reunification was being achieved through the provision of foster care reunification services, this study examined the effect of foster care reunification services on family reunification of children under the age of eighteen, who had been placed in foster care. The methodology utilized was an intervention only design as the data were collected only during the administration if the intervention. As hypothesized, a significant percentage of the children (68.3%) in foster care were reunified by the end of the intervention. Implications for these findings for practice and future research are discussed.
