INTRODUCTION: Premature ejaculation is defined as ejaculation that occurs with minimal sexual stimulation before, during or immediately after penetration. Has a prevalence of 20 to 25% in men 18 to 70 years, is associated with low libido, depression, anxiety and estresse.A acupuncture prevents, treats and cures diseases by inserting needles into specific points of the skin. Acupuncture has already scientific evidence and is recognized since 1997 by the American North Consensus Health, as an alternative for the treatment of premature ejaculation, through the energy flow circulation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating premature ejaculation in a number of patients. PATIENT AND METHODS: A prospective interventional study case series to evaluate acupuncture action on premature ejaculation was conducted. The sample consisted of 23 men, mean age 41.57 ± 12.33 years (extremes of 21 and 73). to calculate a rate Intravaginal Ejaculatory Latency for six days .. After this analysis IELT, patients underwent acupuncture twice a week for four weeks. Shortly after the sessions, new measurement rate. For comparison compared to pre-treatment values and the questionnaire PATIENT OVERALL IMPRESSION OF IMPROVEMENT QUESTIONNAIRE to assess its percentage of improvement. The values of IELT and questionnaire were described by mean and standard deviation for numeric variables and absolute and relative frequencies for categorical variables. Pre difference and post treatment was carried out by Student's t test. The significance level was set at p <0.05. RESULTS: A total of 23 men with a mean age of 41.57 ± 12.33 years (extremes of 21 and 73). The IELT before acupuncture was 2.13 ± 1.31 min (extremes of 0.40 and 4.55 min). After acupuncture this rate increased to 4.50 ± 2.89 min (extremes of 0.49 and 12.10 minutes). That is, the latency rate Ejaculatory Intravaginal patients increased about 2 minutes, delaying the premature ejaculation framework and statistical difference between pre and post acupuncture with p = 0.001 This improvement in IELT was also accompanied by the assessment by questionnaire perception overall assessment: 95% of patients reported being better. CONCLUSION: The study found that acupuncture in the treatment of premature ejaculation caused an increase in latency rate Intravaginal Ejaculatory patients on average about 2 minutes and 95% of subjective perception of improvement by patients.

Full textPremature ejaculation (PE) is the most prevalent sexual dysfunction, as it is estimated to affect about 23% of the male population. It is a universal disorder: it is independent of age, social or marital status. Men with PE typically refer other associated comorbidities and report a significant impact of the disorder not only on their quality of life but also on the satisfaction of the partner and affection of their intimate and social relationships. Although common and treatable in most cases, the drugs currently available can affect sexual spontaneity and the cost can prove to be a hindrance to the resolution of symptoms. This dissertation aims to address the pathophysiological theories extensively, especially regarding the biological aspects that could be in the genesis of this disorder. It will also bring a deep-analysis of the newest therapeutic targets and molecules with potential benefit in PE, according to the translational studies available at the moment.

Full textIntroduction: Sexual health and function are essential components of the general health of any human being, regardless of age. In the case of adult men, sexual dysfunctions are well documented, but in younger age groups, which include university students, the issue of sexual function is little discussed. However, sexual dysfunctions in these age groups are not uncommon and issues related to sexual function and alteration are also of concern to young people and so, should not be neglected. Objective: To identify and characterize the prevalence of sexual dysfunctions (Erectile Dysfunction (ED), Disorders of Ejaculation (EDj) and Libido Alteration (AL) in Portuguese male university students. Check if there are differences between medical students and students from other areas of study. Materials and Methods: An online questionnaire was developed with the variables that were interesting to study and, then this was distributed by 9 Portuguese higher education institutions. Subsequently, the results were statistically analysed using SPSS®. Results: A total of 634 valid questionnaires were obtained. 34.7% of respondents said they were "dissatisfied" and / or "very dissatisfied" with their sexual function. Medical students are more satisfied with their sexual function than students from other areas of study. 49.1% of the respondents consider that getting into university has damaged their sexual life and/or function. 44.2% of respondents assume that they already had some type of alteration of sexual function. 4.3% and 11.9% report some degree of difficulty in having or maintaining erections, respectively. In at least half of sexual relationships 18.2% report ejaculating with very little stimulation and 24.1% before wanting. 2.4% reported an Intravaginal Ejaculatory Latency Time (IELT) of less than 1 minute, 6.3% between 1 and 3 minutes, and 7.1% greater than 30 minutes, resulting in an incidence of Premature Ejaculation (EP) of 8,7% and Delayed Ejaculation (ER) of 7.1%. AL is verified in 3.9% of the respondents. It was verified a negative influence of alcohol consumption on the quality of erections and a higher IELT for smokers. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that sexual dysfunctions are not uncommon among Portuguese university students, with a large number of young people dissatisfied with their sexual function and/or sexual life. There were also some statistically significant differences between medical students and students from other areas of study.
