After introducing a simple model of corruption-deficit relationship, the correlation is tested by regression analysis for years 2003-2009. Besides the year 2008 (the first year of financial crisis) are the results significant on the 5% confidence level. The regression of means is significant on 1% confidence level. Abstract:
Disertační práce zkoumá současnou globální nerovnost, její trendy, typy a faktory. Zejména výsledky analýz beta konvergence ukazují zajímavé skutečnosti o faktorech konvergence a o možnostech snižování nerovnosti. Práce poskytuje rovněž přehled teorií konvergence od počátku novodobé globalizace a platnost teorií je zhodnocena na základě výsledků zmíněné regresní analýzy.

Abstract:
The year 2015 is a big milestone in the history of United Nations development projects. The Millennium Development Goals, which were agreed on by United Nations member states in 2000, are followed by the Sustainable Development Goals. This thesis, using development projects of the United Nations and more specifically the indicator of extreme poverty, analyses the Chinese economy and discusses it´s persistent negative factors affecting progress towards sustainable development. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first part focuses on the historical background of the adoption of the Millennium Development Goals. The second chapter then in particular studies extreme poverty, which is the fundamental component of the first target of the Millennium Development Goals. The third chapter provides an analysis of four thematic areas of the Chinese economy, which negatively affect economic development and which should become a government priority when speaking of further reduction of extreme poverty. The last part builds on the previous findings and presents specific sub-areas of the Sustainable Development Goals that address the defined problematics.

Abstract:
In order to restart economic growth in Latin America after the so-called "lost decade," most countries in the late 1980s began implementing neoliberal reforms aimed at economic transformation. The most important economic rules, which were summarized by John Williamson and named Washington consensus, aimed at providing macroeconomic stability and much needed economic growth. At first, the transition to market economy seemed successful. After years of economic stagnation, the economy began to grow again, inflation was reduced, privatization provided much needed funds to the state treasuries and the attention of foreign investors turned towards the region. However, the initial success did not last long. Economic growth was far smaller, than what was originally expected, and many countries were failing in dealing with unemployment, poverty, and growing income inequality. Growing scepticism was then fuelled by a series of economic crises in the second half of the 1990s. Comparing the impact of neoliberal reforms on the economies of individual countries is problematic because the way in which they were carried out has differed in many countries. Countries have undergone reforms at different time, different speed and with different intensity. The scope of the implemented reforms also differed. In the...
