Abstract Pure alumina coating obtained by thermal spraying can find applications as electrical insulating layer. Thermally-sprayed ceramic coatings exhibit a complex lamellar structure with a network of interconnected pores, inter-lamellar and intra-lamellar cracks. In this work, the influence of the microstructure on electric properties for plasma-sprayed alumina coatings was investigated. Coatings have been sprayed with different pressures and gases using a CAPS (‘Controlled Atmosphere Plasma Spraying’) as well as different alumina feedstock powders. Full text
Abstract:
Electric road systems (ERS) enable dynamic charging—the most energy efficient and economical way to decarbonize road vehicles. ERS draw electrical power directly from the grid and enable vehicles with small batteries to operate without the need to stop for charging. The three main technologies (i.e., overhead catenary lines, road-bound conductive tracks, and inductive wireless systems in the road surface) are all technically proven; however, no highway system has been commercialized. Electric Road Systems for Dynamic Charging discusses the technical and economic advantages of dynamic charging

In contrast to conventional powertrains from internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEV), the tribological performance of powertrains of electric vehicles (EVs) must be further evaluated by considering new critical operating conditions such as electrical environments. The operation of any type of electric motor produces shaft voltages and currents due to various hardware configurations and factors. Furthermore, the common application of inverters intensifies this problem. It has been reported that the induced shaft voltages and currents can cause premature failure problems in tribological compo

This paper maps Cambodia’s participation in Electronic and Electrical (E&E) value chains using trade statistics. It also conducts SWOT analysis based on both qualitative and quantitative data from a E&E firm survey, from which three major conclusions are drawn. This paper argues that E&E production in Cambodia has expanded rapidly with countries in different development levels featuring coordinated and complex production networks. Companies in Cambodia have joined E&E value chains since 2005; yet the scale, scope, and depth of production are so far beyond most comparable countr

Development of advanced technologies for electronic applications, particularly aiming to increase energy efficiency and sustainability, are increasing in demand for regular usage. A majority of this development involves improvement of material's properties. Researcher has been continuously studied and developed new electronic material. Ferroelectric ceramic is one of many materials that is of interest, for example, lead-based (e.g. Pb(Mg₁/₃Nb₂/₃)O₃: PMN) and lead-free (e.g. Ba(Zr,Ti)O₃: BZT) materials. Abstract:
The aerospace industry is beginning to grapple with the reality of certifying electric aircraft (EA), signaling the maturing of the field. Many players are ramping up their activities to respond to imminent technical, safety, and regulatory requirements. While there are gaps in EA knowledge as well as the processes for certifying them, some leading standards development organizations (SDOs) such as SAE International, ASTM International, and RTCA—ably supported by representatives from regulatory agencies—are stepping in to address many of these issues. Of special importance are the new rule cha

Abstract:
Electric aviation has gained momentum in the Nordic region in recent years. Given its unique geographical features and strong commitment to climate-neutral transport, the Nordic region represents an ideal testing ground for electric aviation. In five to ten years from now, electric aviation has the potential to become reality, so it is crucial to explore which factors may affect its implementation and how regional development may be impacted. The “Electric Aviation and the Effects on the Nordic Region” project presents a ten-year future scenario for electric aviation in the Nordic region. In t

Considering the challenges hindering the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and heavy-duty electric vehicles(HDEVs), the integration of dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) technology into roadways has gained interest. By embedding DWPT components into pavement, electrical power can be delivered to an EV or HDEV as they are in motion. Yet, large-scale implementation depends on further in-depth research, both to explore optimal construction methods and to understand the impact of embedment on the pavement’s resultant behavior. Electric aviation (EA) has emerged as a promising alternative to mitigate the climate impacts of aviation. The Nordic countries aspire to lead the way in adoption of this new technology and have set ambitious targets for its implementation in the near future. However, numerous open questions and challenges must still be addressed before electric aviation can become reality. Is the political commitment in the Nordic Region sufficient to support those initiatives? Where will the necessary funding come from? Are the required technological advancements and infrastructure in place? These are among
