Abstract:
The development of the 21st century is directed at the specialization of certain abilities. This certainly influences the goals of Indonesia's national education, where graduates must be equipped with 21st-century skills. These 21st-century skills we can call the 4Cs, namely critical thinking (critical thinking), collaboration (collaboration), creativity (creativity), and communication (communication). The ability to collaborate and think critically needs to be applied in the learning process, including in the Electrical Machinery course. In the Electrical Machines course, lectures are conducted using an electric machine trainer. The use of this trainer is intended to create a student-centered learning atmosphere. To analyze students' critical thinking and collaboration skills in the electrical machine course, we conducted a series of studies related to this. The research method used is a quantitative research method with a one-shot case study research design. From the research, it was found that learning activities using an electric machine trainer were able to optimize students' critical thinking skills. This is because learning using a trainer is student-centered learning, where students play an active role in the learning process. Besides being able to optimize student collaboration skills because the learning process is carried out in groups. Discussion activities carried out in groups provide experiences for students to develop collaboration skills.

Abstract:
With the vigorous development of China’s market economy, a new generation of artificial intelligence technology has also developed rapidly, which has strongly promoted the optimization and improvement of China’s electrical automation control system. The use of artificial intelligence technology in power automation systems mainly has the following two advantages: it can reduce the manufacturing time of power products, thereby increasing the number of workers manufacturing power products and promoting enterprises to conduct larger-scale machine manufacturing, thereby improving the comprehensive economic benefits of enterprise machine manufacturing, but also improve the quality of manufactured products of electric power products. Since the machine control of artificial intelligence is more efficient than manual manufacturing, it reduces the manufacturing problems caused by the subjective factors of manufacturing workers to a certain extent and thus improves the qualification rate of machine production. Electrical engineering plays an important role in China’s urban development, and automatic control is an important part of electrical engineering, which can have a direct impact on the quality of electrical engineering. Therefore, in order to promote the healthy development of cities in China, this paper studies the application of artificial intelligence technology in electrical engineering automation by analyzing relevant data, in order to provide a reliable basis for relevant personnel to carry out their work.

Abstract:
A near-infrared (NIR) filter with sphere phase liquid crystal (SPLC) is proposed, which shows a low operating electric field and large temperature-gradient modulations. The central wavelength of the Bragg reflection can be thermally tuned from 1580 nm to 1324 nm with a temperature-gradient of 42.7 nm/K. Meanwhile, the central wavelength can be electrically tuned over 76 nm within a low operating electric field of 0.3 V/μm. Thus, the SPLC filter may achieve a wavelength variation of 256 nm by thermal modulation and 76 nm by electrical modulation. The SPLC filter shows great potential applications in optical communication devices.

Full text
Abstract:
Ischaemic heart diseases are the leading causes of morbidity around the world and pose serious socio-economic burdens. Ischaemic events, such as myocardial infarction, lead to severe tissue damage and result in the formation of scar tissue. This scar tissue, being electrically inert, does not conduct electrical currents and thus generates lethal arrhythmias. The ventricle dilates with time due to asynchronous beating due to the scar, and it eventually leads to total heart failure. The current pharmacological approaches only cure heart failure symptoms without inducing tissue regeneration. Therefore, heart transplant remains the gold standard to date, but the limited organ donors and the possibility of immune rejection make this approach elusive. Cardiac tissue engineering has the potential to address this issue by engineering artificial heart tissues using 3D scaffolds cultured with cardiac stem cells. Compared with the traditional non-conductive scaffold, electroconductive scaffolds can transfer feeble electric currents among the cultured cells by acting as a “wire”. This improves intercellular communication and synchronisation that otherwise is not possible using non-conductive scaffolds. This article reviews the recent advances in carbon nanomaterials-based electroconductive scaffolds, their in vitro/in vivo efficacy, and their potential to repair ischaemic heart tissue.

Abstract Networks play an important role in electrical and electronic engineering. It depends on what area of electrical and electronic engineering, for example there is a lot more abstract mathematics in communication theory and signal processing and networking etc. Networks involve nodes communicating with each other. Graph theory has found a considerable use in this area of research. A topological index is a real number associated with chemical constitution purporting for correlation of chemical networks with various physical properties, chemical reactivity. The concept of hyper Zagreb index, first multiple Zagreb index, second multiple Zagreb index and Zagreb polynomials was established in chemical graph theory based on vertex degrees. In this paper, we extend this study to interconnection networks and derive analytical closed results of hyper Zagreb index, first multiple Zagreb index, second multiple Zagreb index, Zagreb polynomials and redefined Zagreb indices for block shift network (BSN − 1) and (BSN − 2), hierarchical hypercube (HHC − 1) and (HHC − 2).

Abstract:
The surface modification of materials obtained from natural polymers, such as silk fibroin with metal nanoparticles that exhibit intrinsic electrical characteristics, allows the obtaining of biocomposite materials capable of favoring the propagation and conduction of electrical impulses, acting as communicating structures in electrically isolated areas. On that basis, this investigation determined the electrochemical and electroconductive behavior through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of a silk fibroin electrospun membrane from silk fibrous waste functionalized with gold or silver nanoparticles synthetized by green chemical reduction methodologies. Based on the results obtained, we found that silk fibroin from silk fibrous waste (SFw) favored the formation of gold (AuNPs-SFw) and silver (AgNPs-SFw) nanoparticles, acting as a reducing agent and surfactant, forming a micellar structure around the individual nanoparticle. Moreover, different electrospinning conditions influenced the morphological properties of the fibers, in the presence or absence of beads and the amount of sample collected. Furthermore, treated SFw electrospun membranes, functionalized with AuNPs-SFw or AgNPS-SFw, allowed the conduction of electrical stimuli, acting as stimulators and modulators of electric current.

Abstract:
Problem. The paper solves an important scientific and practical problem that allows to increase the competitive advantages of agricultural producers through the use of modern energy-efficient tractors with electric transmission. The control system of the traction electric drive is a component of the modern electric tractor of the fourth traction class which has become the most widespread and is intended for providing movement in the modes of various loading. The study of electric motors of a modern electric tractor of the fourth traction class is carried out. The electric motor is characterized by input and output parameters, internal parameters or state parameters, external influences. Methodology. The methods of theoretical basic electrical engineering have been developed in the production and calculation of circuits. Also classical methods of statistics of signals from ADC are used. Results. The technique of processing information from the current, voltage and temperature sensors using a mathematical apparatus without using harmonic analysis is presented. The hardware implementation of the proposed method allows the use of simplified computing tools. Originality. Complex analysis of the data obtained from the current, voltage and temperature sensors is carried out. During the analysis, the range of velocities with stable operation of the measurement system was determined. Based on the data obtained, it is concluded that the use of a horn antenna as a concentrator substantially eliminates lateral interference and extends the range of possible velocity measurements. It is shown that the level of sampling significantly affects the upper limit of the measurement speed. Practical value. It is shown that: As a result of the work, an important scientific and practical problem was solved, which allows to increase the energy efficiency of tractors through the use of tractors of the fourth traction class electric drive. To maintain the maximum energy efficiency of the traction electric drive of the tractor in the modes of various loads, its control system must include means of displaying the current state of the energy parameters of the power plant. The electrical equipment must include an on-board computer, which helps the driver to make the optimal tasks of work, according to preliminary calculations, as well as display the information needed on the route, the state of the vehicle, means of communication. communication of the car with the external environment, with the navigation system, etc. The on-board computer provides information to the touch screen with programmable virtual controls, and communicates with the driver's mobile systems. The study of electric motors of a fifth traction class electric tractor was carried out. As an object of motor control, it is characterized by input and output parameters, internal parameters or state parameters, external influences. An algorithm for selecting the parameters of the traction motor system has been developed and a circuit implementation of the control system has been offered.

Abstract:
In universities, engineering students are often seen as a group of students with high level of intelligence. The engineering programme seeks applications from students with a strong command in Mathematics and Science. Therefore, it is believed that Mathematical Competencies (MC) are the element that plays a vital role in engineering education since there are plenty of applications of mathematical knowledge in engineering courses. This paper discusses mathematical competencies further, with emphasis on those demonstrated by the engineering students. MC consist of eight components: Thinking mathematically, posing and solving a mathematical problem, modelling mathematically, reasoning mathematically, representing mathematically, handling mathematical symbols and formalisms, communicating in, with, and about mathematics and using aids and tools. Unfortunately, many engineering students did not meet the required level as they did not perform well in the engineering course, whereby in this study, the focus was on the Electromagnetic Field Theory (EMT) course. EMT was chosen because the course contains high mathematical component. A qualitative method of ethnographic research design was selected as a mean to collect data, which was then analysed using thematic analysis. A set of EMT questions was developed for 17 participants from an electrical engineering programme. From the written work, it can be said that the participants demonstrated their MC based on their answers. It can be concluded that most of the participants with higher marks were able to demonstrate almost all of the MC components.

Abstract:
This communication deals with the graphical representation of power flows in hydromechanical drives, for use in systems- engineering activities. It points out the need for standardized symbols in mechanics to complement the well-established standards in electrics and hydraulics. Once identified and listed, the mechanical functions are arranged by classes and subclasses, which define the main families of symbols to be designed. A functional view is favoured. Proposals are made for symbolisation in order to improve the readability of the diagrams dealing with multi-physical systems. This is illustrated with the example of the Airbus 320 yaw control, which combines mechanical, electrical and hydraulic devices in a complex architectural arrangement. This work contributes to make foundations for the development of a modern standard of mechanical symbols.

Abstract:
Gas insulated transmission lines (GILs) are used in electrical systems mainly for power transmission and High Voltage substation interconnection. In this paper, we focus on the development of complex numerical tools for the optimization of gas insulated HVDC components by the estimation of realistic electric field distribution and the voltage holding of the designed geometry. In particular, the paper aims at describing the correct modelling approach suitable to study high voltage components in DC, considering the nonlinear behaviour characterizing the electrical conductivity of solid and gas insulators. The simulated field distribution is then adopted to estimate the voltage holding of the dielectric gas, with a convenient engineering technique, based on the streamer criterion. These two tools are integrated in an automatic optimization package developed in COMSOL® and MATLAB®, with the purpose of adjusting the critical geometry features, suffering from excessive electrical stress and possibly giving rise to electrical breakdown, in order to guide the designer towards a robust solution.

Abstract:
The basic function of a shipboard electric power systems is to supply all consumers, both essential and non-essential, with electrical energy, as economically as possible and with an acceptable degree of quality. A shipboard electrical power system comprises three principal subsystems: generation (naval power plant-island mode plant), distribution and protection and automation. During operation all these subsystems may be affected by faults. In this aim all electrical installations on shipboards are to be protected against over-currents due to short- circuits or accidental overloads. The new ABB air circuit-breakers Emax 2 and Tmax T series can be used both as main circuit-breaker in low voltage generation and distribution systems. In addition to protection, the new air ABB circuit-breakers offer possibility of communication which are particularly suitable for automation, control, measurements, grid analysis, and energy savings. ABB Relays are high-performance electronic units for these circuit breakers. Their basic function is to monitor and protect the electric systems against fault current. The units also includes: measuring, data storage, communication, self-test, load control and zone selectivity functions for these circuit-breakers. This paper presents the analysis of protections and simulates how to trigger protections within shipboard power systems.

Abstract:
Allosteric function is a critical component of many of the parts used to construct gene networks throughout synthetic biology. In this review, we discuss an emerging field of research and education, biomolecular systems engineering, that expands on the synthetic biology edifice—integrating workflows and strategies from protein engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science principles. We focus on the role of engineered allosteric communication as it relates to transcriptional gene regulators—i.e., transcription factors and corresponding unit operations. In this review, we ( a) explore allosteric communication in the lactose repressor LacI topology, ( b) demonstrate how to leverage this understanding of allostery in the LacI system to engineer non-natural BUFFER and NOT logical operations, ( c) illustrate how engineering workflows can be used to confer alternate allosteric functions in disparate systems that share the LacI topology, and ( d) demonstrate how fundamental unit operations can be directed to form combinational logical operations.
