Identification of transcripts produced during porcine oocyte maturation is one of the first steps in defining pathways important to development. Practically, this information will aid in the refinement of in vitro culture processes, allowing for more efficient in vitro embryo production. To this end, mRNA was isolated from 50 in vitro-matured sow metaphase II stage oocytes (Bomed, Inc., Madison, WI, USA) (MIIs), 50 in vitro-matured gilt metaphase II-stage oocytes (MIIg), and 50 gilt germinal vesicle stage oocytes (GVO) by using the Dynabead® system (Dynal, Inc., Lake Success, NY, USA) and ampl

The background of this research is the lack of sports coaching, especially the football sport who has not been maximized, there is a still need of training about the techniques that are in the football to every student so that they can master the football correctly. The purpose of this study was to find out which effect is more effective between the massed training method and distributed training method in the dribbling skill if it is associated with the achievement motivation factor of the students of SMK N 1 Way Bungur, East Lampung. The method used in this study was an experimental method.

Supplementation of glutamine to porcine embryo culture medium improves blastocyst development, increases leucine consumption, and enhances mitochondrial activity. In cancer cells, glutamine has been implicated in the phosphorylation and activation of mechanistic target of rapamycin (MTOR) to support rapid cellular proliferation. The objective of this study was to determine if phosphorylation of MTOR in porcine blastocysts was dependent upon the concentration of glutamine in the medium and presence of leucine, another activator of MTOR. Abstract The “Spartathlon” ultradistance foot race (246 Km continuous, prolonged, brisk exercise for up to 36 hours) provides a unique model of prolonged duration exercise that reveals dramatic systemic inflammatory changes. In this study we investigated endothelial function of athletes participating in this extreme physical stress paradigm. The circulating levels of adhesion molecules E-, L- and P-selectins, intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), and vascular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), along with those of thrombomodulin (TM), N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) and c

During the development of a germinal vesicle (GV) stage porcine oocyte to the 4-cell stage embryo, there is a transcriptionally silent period during which the oocyte/embryo relies completely on the maternal contribution of mRNA. Regulation of transcription and degradation of the maternal mRNA is at least partially dependent on cytoplasmic polyadenylation elements (CPE) within the 3′ untranslated region of the mRNA. The goal of this study was to determine how single, double, and triple CPE sites affect the transcript levels of mRNA during embryogenesis. Expressed sequence tags from oocytes and

Objectives Since the introduction of the peritoneal equilibration test (PET), the 4-hour dialysatelplasma creatinine (DIP Cr) has been used by several authors for determining continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) prescriptions. However, the results have been unsatisfactory because the 4-hr DIP Cr does not accurately reflect the DIP Cr in 24-hr collections. The PET and the 24-hr dialysate collections differ in the duration of dwell and the tonicity and volume of dialysate, all of which influence the equilibrated DIP Cr. It can be assumed that the DIP Cr in 24-hr collections in these
