It has been a while that computers have replaced our record books, and medical records are no exception. Electronic Health Records (EHR) are digital version of a patient's medical records. EHRs are available to authorized users, and they contain the medical records of the patient, which should help doctors understand a patient's condition quickly. In recent years, Deep Learning models have proved their value and have become state-of-the-art in computer vision, natural language processing, speech and other areas. The private nature of EHR data has prevented public access to EHR datasets. There

Polypharmacy, a concurrent chronic use of multiple prescribed and over-the-counter medications by the same individual, is one of the clinical problems facing primary care providers. Polypharmacy creates the potential for adverse drug-related events, especially in the elderly. The advent of electronic medical records (EMR) may help identify and respond to these potential adverse events. The purpose of this project was to investigate the relationship between the total number of medication taken by elderly, 65 years and older, and the severity of drug-drug and drug-disease interactions triggered

Electronic medical record (EMR) systems are increasingly used in developing countries to improve quality of care while increasing efficiency. There is little systematic evidence, however, regarding EMRs' benefits and costs. This case study documents the implementation and use of an EMR system at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). Three EMR systems are now in operation for primary care, outpatient and inpatient hospital care. The evidence suggests that the primary care system has improved efficiency of care delivery and human resources management, and may have decreased incidence of

Lightweight temporal ontology languages have become a very active field of research in recent years. Many real-world applications, like processing electronic health records (EHRs), inherently contain a temporal dimension, and require efficient reasoning algorithms. Moreover, since medical data is not recorded on a regular basis, reasoners must deal with sparse data with potentially large temporal gaps. In this paper, we introduce a temporal extension of the tractable language ELH⊥, which features a new class of convex diamond operators that can be used to bridge temporal gaps. We develop a com
