Abstract:
This how-to manual for librarians provides valuable information on how libraries can use marketing to increase usage and better serve patrons. While it discusses electronic resource (e-resource) examples and issues, the true focus is on larger concepts that apply to marketing any type of library resource. It provides a valuable reference for librarians seeking to implement a marketing plan. The second edition has new examples of marketing plans from real institutions. The authors’ stated goals are to “give colleagues the specific means of developing, implementing, and assessing marketing plans for e-resource collection management,” and to improve awareness of the value of e-resources among library users (xvi). They succeed in providing content that will help library practitioners of all levels of experience in marketing e-resources.

Abstract:
Purpose This paper aims to examine and analyse the status and differences in different components of e-resources management of business/management school libraries in India. It also examines the factors responsible for criteria/methods used in the life cycle of e-resources and e-resource management (ERM) system. Design/methodology/approach This study uses convenient sampling method as the management institutes in India are many and scattered around India. A suitably designed questionnaire has been prepared and sent to the libraries. Data collected from the librarians/library in-charge on managing e-resources in their libraries selected under study were entered into SPSS software for analysis. Further, coding and decoding of data are being done for analysis. Simple cross tabulation, simple statistical tools like mean and standard deviations and advanced statistical tools like ANOVA, chi-square test and multiple regression analysis, etc. have been applied for analysis. Findings E-resources management is one of the most important concepts in any academic library. After automation and digitization of library resources, there is a challenge for library professional to manage this tremendous increase in e-resources. In this study, it is observed that all libraries are not following all the steps of different components of ERM such as selection, evaluation, acquisition, license agreement and renewal/cancelation of e-resource which are essential for the better management of e-resources. The voluminous e-resource can easily be managed through the ERM system. However, this study found that better management of e-resources directly effected by the facilities of IT infrastructures available in the library and proportion of non-professional staff to total staff. Research limitations/implications This study is confined to 38 libraries of ranked management institutes/business schools in India based on the report published in Business India, Business World and Business Today. This study is confined to issues relating to e-resources collection development, the status of IT infrastructure, life-cycle process of e-resources and tools and technology implemented to manage e-resources. Originality/value This paper provides how electronic resources are being managed by business/management school libraries in India. What are the methods/criteria they are being used in different components of the life cycle of e-resources management? In this paper, the hypothesis has been tested by using simple and advance statistical tools.

Abstract:
This article employs social network analysis as a mechanism to bridge the typical ways of talking about usage statistics and to provide a context-specific perspective about the mediated use of electronic resources. The article reports on an analysis of data gathered at the Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles, California) about standard usage statistics as well as library Information Desk encounters during which an electronic resource is mentioned. Our analysis demonstrates that e-resources are suggested and used in concert; there are central resources that are mentioned together, instead of a single e-resource being suggested alone to resolve a given information need. We also learned that half of the available electronic resources are not suggested once during the year analyzed. The conceptual results of this work support the use of social network analysis in examining other relational aspects of library work. Practical results are reported as well, most notably the use of more than one resource to fulfil an information need.

Abstract:
Implementation of electronic learning resources into the teaching of chemical disciplines in higher school does not always lead to an improvement in students' mastery of the material. Therefore, the optimal choice of effective electronic resources for the teaching of basic chemical disciplines is an urgent task. The purpose of the work was to identify the resources that are relevant to the teaching of physical chemistry from the point of view of both teachers and students. Specific questionnaires were developed to achieve the goal, and a survey of pedagogical process participants (students and faculty members) was conducted, followed by statistical processing of the survey results. The expediency of usage of 41 e-resources was investigated, and 21 resources were identified as suitable for the study of a university course in physical chemistry. Among them, eight e-resources were found to be important for teaching most topics of the discipline, and so are attributed to universal resources. Another thirteen resources are important for teaching some topics and ineffective for others (specific resources). At the same time, only five universal and eight specific resources are currently used in the practice of the Faculty of Chemistry of Olesj Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University. Some discrepancies have been identified between teachers and students concerning resource preferences that create the preconditions for the loss of effectiveness of the use of such resources. Since the use of some electronic resources is sensitive to learning styles, existing styles for faculties and students were analysed. The main differences consist in the explicit preferences of the faculty for reflective and global styles, while students are characterised by predominantly active and sequential learning styles. The results obtained regarding the effectiveness of e-resource usage are discussed from the viewpoint of preferences in learning styles characteristic of students and teachers of natural sciences.

Over the last ten years electronic resources (e-resources) have exploded, becoming a larger and more substantial part of library collections. As Stachokas writes in the introduction, “Libraries are reengineering in terms of their professional skills, organizational structures, collections, systems, tools and assessment in order to provide users with a greater number and more types of electronic resources” (xi). This reengineering is vital as processes used for purchasing and preparing print and other physical materials for use are no longer adequate to handle the increased volume of e-resources acquired by libraries. Reengineering the Library is written for academic library practitioners, and there are several chapters that will be of particular interest to those new to the field of electronic resource management.

Abstract:
It should be noticed that though the amount of information resources is constantly increasing, natural science education suffers from lack of electronic information sources. Moreover, in this case, the Lithuanian language is used extremely rarely. Presently, more and more teachers of natural sciences use the Internet, and therefore the popularity of electronic information resources is growing. However, the questions of how to evaluate the quality of similar resources and how to conceptually integrate those into the teaching/learning process arise. Legal and ethical aspects of using information found on the Internet are faced i.e. the problems of quotation, plagiarism and copyright are encountered. Connecting science education teachers to innovative electronic information resources is the subject of discussion. The growing number of electronic resources can make finding resources with high quality content. Electronic resources are not fully realized by science education teachers. Therefore, the main goal of this article is to introduce science teachers with the most popular digital resources. In this article the databases, e-libraries, e-journals and books, encyclopedias, most popular search engines for science teachers are presented. Key words: science education, electronic information resourcses, databases.

Abstract:
Purpose The main purpose of this paper is to examine the current practices related to e-resource collection development in management libraries of India with special reference to the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi with some constructive suggestions for improvement in this area. Design/methodology/approach A well-structured questionnaire was administered to the librarians of the nine management libraries under study. Findings The management libraries are actively involved in building e-resource collection. The budget allocation for purchase of e-resources has increased progressively over the years in majority of the libraries. The factors that, to a great extent, affect selection of e-resources include quality, subject coverage, license agreements and vendor support. The study found that libraries associated with management institutions such as ABS, DMS-IITD, FMS, BIMECH and FSM need to add more management-related databases. Research limitations/implications The paper restricts the study exclusively to e-resources as the type of material and the librarians of nine major management institutions of NCR of Delhi as the respondents in its scope of discussion. Practical implications The study is of great importance to information professionals of similar management institutions in India. The recommendations made could also help solve some of the challenges that are being faced. Originality/value Very little is known about the electronic resource collection development practices followed in management institutes’ libraries of India owing to lack of significant research undertaken on the topic. This study is, therefore, significant because its findings fill up the existing knowledge gap in this area.

Electronic resources (e-resources) have become an integral part of libraries’ resources in many parts of the world and enable libraries to meet users’ needs whenever and wherever they are located. Open access (OA) resources similarly decrease financial and geographic barriers to using content. Libraries incorporate open resources into their collections to enhance or replace their subscribed content. As pressure mounts for authors and publishers to make content open, many libraries also support the creation and provision of OA materials. During unexpected disruptions, such as the 2020 coronavirus pandemic, these subscription-based and OA resources enable libraries to continue to meet their users’ needs as they cancel events, close physical locations, and support efforts to move courses and workplaces entirely online. Purpose This paper aims to investigate the usage pattern of electronic resources (e-resources) among management graduates. The respondents were asked about the types of e-resources they used, who their influencers were, their preferred place for surfing, the frequency of use, purpose for which they used e-resources, its benefits and the problems they faced while using e-resources. The findings of the study will help in enhancing the usage of e-resources among students who opt for management courses. Design/methodology/approach This descriptive research was conducted in Nagpur, Maharashtra (India). Data collected from 150 management students through purposive sampling were analyzed through descriptive statistics, and the responses were presented in tabular form. Findings The investigation reveals that students are well aware of e-resources and consider them to be very useful for their academic performance. Interestingly, students are found to be using non-paid resources more than paid ones because of a lack of search skills. Discipline-wise investigation reveals that students from the disciplines of information technology, economics and finance use e-resources more frequently than those studying subjects like marketing, operations and human resource management. Faculty and training have emerged as strong influencers that have persuaded students to use e-resources. Research limitations/implications The present study is limited to students studying management courses in Nagpur, Maharashtra (India). Originality/value This research will help institutions, librarians and publishers in gaining insight on the utilization patterns of e-resources. The uniqueness of this study lies in the fact that it has analyzed and presented the responses of management students belonging to different disciplines in management studies such as, marketing, finance, human resource management operations, economics and information technology regarding their usage patterns of e-resources.

Abstract:
The eight chapters covered in this text give a detailed history about how the role of electronic resource (e-resource) librarians (ERLs) has evolved over the past several decades as libraries have shifted to an online environment. It covers the challenges faced from 1992 when the ERL title was first used, to 2019 where academic libraries are still a hybrid of print and electronic materials. The book is organized into eight chapters with three appendixes. The introduction gives a brief overview on the development of ERLs and a clear synopsis of chapters, which are a nice progression of how the ERL position has developed since the 1990s; how it has been represented in organizational structures across academic libraries; how it has handled a variety of obstacles (technology, expanding skill sets, budget constraints, etc.); and how it maps to current trends in managing e-resources.

Abstract:
Following the emergence of electronic resources (e-resources), librarians developed licensing guidelines, standards, models, and understandings to educate, increase efficiencies, and retain rights afforded by copyright law. To reduce licensing burdens, the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) released the Shared E-Resource Understanding (SERU) in 2008, a set of “understandings” created and agreed upon by libraries and vendors. The author conducted a survey in 2017 of licensing practices and SERU use at libraries. The survey analyzed 108 responses from US academic libraries signing at least one license in the twelve months preceding the survey.

Abstract:
The research on the reverse resource network of e-waste at home and abroad is still in its infancy, and most of it is only based on traditional forward logistics. Reverse resources are the process of moving goods from their typical final destination for recycling value or proper disposal. With the intensification of market competition and the strengthening of environmental protection legislation by the government, reverse resources are no longer a neglected corner in the supply chain. The DLRNN model of the e-waste reverse resource recovery system constructed in this paper can provide an important theoretical and empirical basis for the rational utilization of waste electronic products and fully tap the potential value of waste electronic products, which is of great significance to the recycling of natural resources. In this paper, a hybrid network framework DLRNN based on deep learning (DL) and cyclic neural network (RNN) is designed for problem classification. Experimental results show that the classification accuracy of this framework is improved by 2.4% on TREC and 2.5% on MSQC without additional word vector conversion tools.

Abstract:
11033 Background: Despite the aging population driving cancer growth, oncology trainees receive little training in geriatrics. While electronic resources, such as ASCO University, may help meet this gap, use of available geriatric oncology (GO) modules is low. We sought to understand why by exploring how oncology trainees currently learn about GO, their preferred methods for learning about GO, and their attitudes towards e-learning and geriatrics. Methods: Canadian medical oncology residents and recent graduates were electronically surveyed about the following domains: demographics, self-directed learning practices, use of electronic resources, perceived facilitators and barriers to e-learning, and geriatric oncology teaching. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. Results: Respondents (n = 47) were mostly aged < 35 (66%). Respondents felt that learning about older adults was important (mean 4.3±1.0 out of 5) and generally felt comfortable caring for them (mean 3.9±0.9 out of 5) despite minimal training in geriatrics.Almost half (48.9%) received 0-2 hours of teaching in GO during residency, with the majority (59.6%) receiving teaching in clinic, 36.2% through lectures and 21.3% via seminars. Respondents also learned about GO through reading journal articles (42.6%), modelling in clinic (36.2%), reading a textbook (19.2%) or attending a conference (19.2%). Respondents preferred to learn about GO through on-site lectures (46.8%), dinner meetings (42.6%), case discussion (42.6%) and attending conferences (38.3%). Although overall respondents highly valued electronic learning (mean 4.3±0.75 out of 5), only a minority (8.5%) had received GO teaching electronically using e-modules and only 23.4% respondents were aware of e-learning resources in GO. In contrast most respondents (83%) had used an e-learning resource to learn about oncology. The most common oncology e-resources used were ASCO University (61.7%), Oncology Education (61.7%), and ASCO meeting videos (44.7%). Conclusions: Although oncology trainees value and commonly use e-learning resources, e-learning is not a common or preferred way to learn about GO, potentially due to lack of awareness about these resources. Future research will explore whether the current methods of educating oncology learners about older adults are appropriate and sufficient, as well as how trainees value and prioritize learning about topics that are not included in the formal curricula.

Abstract:
At the 2003 ARLIS/UK & Ireland Annual Conference, Creative partnerships, at the University of Sussex, a workshop entitled Documenting electronic resources: standards and challenges attracted delegates interested in exploring the practical and theoretical issues raised by cataloguing electronic resources in traditional library environments. This article further details recent changes made to the Anglo-American cataloguing rules to accommodate various types of e-resources. While quasi-established methods of representing such resources have undergone substantial revision, new metadata schemes are emerging and divisions between respective repositories containing different material types are disintegrating. Adapted or entirely new workflows for managing cataloguing of e-resources are under development (TrackER) and a fundamental restructuring of the very framework for relating data in bibliographic records to the needs of users (FRBR) may impact significantly on the representation of e-resources in library OPACs. Do these developments in any sense touch the library user whose ‘infosphere’ is underpinned by the seamlessness of Google’s PageRank algorithm and will the Research Libraries Group’s pilot service RedLightGreen sufficiently ‘Google-ize’ what libraries provide for these users?

Abstract:
This study proposes an e-service resource bundle (E-SRB) as an antecedent of electronic service channel (e-channel) success in small retail service providers. The E-SRB indicates a collection of three resources: e-market acuity, e-IT competence, and e-service agility. Given the interdependence of these three resources in delivering quality e-services, the authors hypothesize about their complementarity and its positive effect on performance. The results of this structural equation modeling using survey data show support for the proposed hypotheses, demonstrating that the E-SRB positively influences e-channel performance. The performance impact is not limited to perceived financial performance but extends to self-reported dollar-based sales and profits. These results have theoretical implications when it comes to linking e-service quality to financial performance. They also carry managerial implications for small-scale e-retailing, where limited resources can seriously impede the full use of the e-channel. One of these implications concerns what resources are necessary and how to allocate them in order to improve an e-service system. In the end, this study suggests that managers should understand the interrelationships that might exist among resources that collectively influence performance.

The North American Serials Interest Groups’s (NASIG) Core Competencies for Electronic Resources Librarians, published in 2013, casts light on a growing problem in twenty-first-century libraries: aspiring electronic resources librarians need an astonishing variety of skills.1 Because of their complex nature, these skills must be cultivated on the job. This book, by academic librarians Verminksi and Blanchat, provides a practical approach for such cultivation. Readers new to e-resources will find value in the authors’ clear descriptions of daily workflows, while those with more experience will find the explanations of “the interconnection between workflows and systems” (vii) enlightening. Chapters are divided into sections, each of which could warrant an entire book. Abstract:
Library scientists have been actively considering the ways to improve various aspects of library activities recent decades. The most studied problems are the following: libraries innovative development in general, information systems updating, e-resources and services modernization, etc. The paper analyzes the history of creating the most significant complex information resources generated by the Branch of the State Public Scientific Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It shows that both internal (human, technological) and external (reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences, emerging new software products or platforms) factors can evidently be reasons for upgrading some specific electronic products. Modernization of the library information resources can follow several areas: structure development, content updating, design improvement, changing generation technologies, hard- and software update, providing services based on resources, carrying out promotion activities. Using the e-resources property for continuous transformation, it’s possible to increase their life cycle significantly. At the same time, the main goal of modernizing library information resources is to improve their quality. The library information resources updating is a natural process in some extend permitting to improve content and service components of a resource for its providing in a modern form to a wide range of users. The choice of the resource improvement direction depends on its relevance, and developers’ competence level.

Electronic waste is widespread across the globe comprises wide range of elements, growing exponential recent years and even categorized as hazardous if the elements like lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, selenium, and hexavalent chromium etc. are present beyond the permissible quantities. They may also be important secondary resources if processed in eco-friendly manner for secured supply of contained metals. Bio-extraction of metals from E-waste with microbes such as bacteria and fungi is being increasingly explored to meet the twin objectives of resource recycling and pollution mitigation. This review focuses on the biological extraction techniques including an assessment has been made to quantify the different E-waste and their metal compositions, microbes used, metal leaching efficiency etc. and proposes that the biological recovery allows the cycling of metals by a process close to natural biogeochemical cycles reducing the demand for resources such as ores, energy, or landfill space.
