By contributing to the system enhancement, the integration of Nano systems for nanosensors with biomaterials proves to be a unique element in the development of novel innovative systems. The techniques by which manipulation, handling, and preparation of the device are accomplished with respect to industrial use are a critical component that must be considered before the system is developed. The approach must be able to be used in a scanning electron microscope (SEM), resistant to environmental changes, and designed to be automated. Abstract This article describes two innovative methods that can significantly improve the resolution of SEM imaging: scanning transmission electron microscopy in a scanning electron microscope (STEM-in-SEM) and forward-scattered electron imaging (FSEI). Both methods can be implemented in any SEM using special sample holders. No other modifications are required. Test results presented in the article show that 1 to 2 nm resolution is possible in thin sections, uncoated polysilicon gates, and photoresist.

Electric arc praying technology was used to produce Fe/B-Fe coating on the carbon steel substrate. The microstructures was studied by means of scanning electronic microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and electron probe microanalysis (EPMA). Mechanical performances, wear resistance of coating were tested . The results showed that the resistance to abrasion and corrosion of Fe/B-Fe coating was respectively 16 times and 5 to 6 times higher than those of bare metal.

Videocameras and electronic image storage devices have given new vigor and potential to optical microscopy and parts inspection, as well as a powerful means of recording microscopic motion in live-time biological studies. Video and electronic techniques permit fast exploratory examinations simultaneous with extensive archiving, and allow the option of deferring hard copy printing to the time when reports may be needed. These capabilities aid in improving the quality of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and other analyses that may follow and have great value in communicating with the customer.

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) becomes an excellent tool for surface structure studies in the case of conductive and semiconductive materials. The STM has advantage of extending the range of SEM and TEM studies to topography measurements in the angstrom scale. This method also does not require special sample preparations and can be used in air. The polymers with electronic conductivity are among compounds to be studied by STM. Recently the STM images of doped polypyrrole were obtained for polymer molecules deposited on graphite. The authors claimed the observation of single polypyrrole ch

Abstract We have constructed a new nanomanipulator (NM) in a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) to fabricate carbon nanotube (CNT) tip to precisely adjust the length and attachment angle of CNT onto the mother atomic force microscope (AFM) tip. The new NM is composed of 2 modules, each of which has the degree of freedom of three-dimensional rectilinear motion x, y and z and one-dimensional rotational motion θ. The NM is mounted on the stage of a FE-SEM. With the system of 14 axes in total which includes 5 axes of FE-SEM and 9 axes of nano-actuators, it was possible to see CNT

We have studied the inhibitory effect of some Monoterpenic Thiosemicarbazones on steel corrosion in 1 M HCl solution. The potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used. The Monoterpenic Thiosemicarbazones have inhibited significantly the dissolution of steel. The inhibition efficiency increased with increasing inhibitor concentration and also with the increase in temperature (293–323 K). Furthermore, the results obtained revealed that the adsorption of inhibitor on steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption model and the thermodynamic parameters such as enthalp

Metastable secondary phase in steel usually was studied by metallographic technology in many previous researches because they were destroyed easily by acidic or alkaline reagents during separating from steel. Large area epitaxial graphene (EG) layers are synthesized on 6H-SiC (0001) by annealing at 1500 °C for 5 min in a closed graphite chamber at low vacuum of 10-3 mbar and its 2D band in Raman spectra can be satisfactorily fitted by a single Lorentzian. From Raman spectroscopy, measurements indicate that too high growth temperature is to the disadvantage of the formation of graphene. The results of atomic force microscope (AFM) and field-emission scanning electronic microscope (FE-SEM) reveal the surface morphology of graphene is related with its growth temperature.

A lot of rod-like and multi-branched Cr-rich phases can be observed while the formation of Ni3Al is suppressed.
