Abstract:
Electronic mail and electronic communications systems are considered significant and effective tools of communication. One of the most widespread electronic communication tools is e - mail communication. In order to avoid misinterpretation of the report on the side of the recipient, it is need to pay attention to the writing of e - mail messages as well as to their content. With the continuous expansion of the use of electronic communication there have gradually developed certain rules of etiquette in electronic communications. The existing rules of the propriety ones are expressed in the term " etiqutte " and are not automatically applied in the new communications environment - media. For electronic communication, the new rules of etiquette have been stabilised into a term NETIQUETTE. The word netiquette was created by combining words NET (net) and ETIKETA (a set of rules of social behavior and habits). Netiquette constitutes the rules of the behavior of users on a network. Although the netiquette is merely "an unwritten set of rules", their not using can be understood as a type of disrespect. Analysis of knowledge of domestic and foreign sources as well as results of a survey confirmed the justification of paying attention to the education of individuals in NETIQUETTE, irrespective of the degree of education.

Abstract:
Down-hole oil and gas industries are important users of high temperature electronics. In these applications the operating temperature is function of the underground depth of the wells. Oil reservoirs in Mexico are located at mean depths of 6,000 m and the typical geothermal gradient is 25°C/km, however in some areas it is greater. Consequently, the requirements for measuring thermodynamic and geophysical parameters, for instance pressure, temperature, vibration and multiphase flow, are a challenging task. Accomplishing these necessities requires a complete signal communications chain of high-performance components and effective communication techniques to provide system reliability. Nevertheless, noise interference, cable attenuation and thermal drift of the front-end passive electronic elements can lead to poor signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and possibly loss of the communication link. This paper describes a bidirectional communication system that exchanges data from a down-hole high pressure and high temperature (HP/HT) measurement tool to the surface installation. The communication channel is a multi-conductor coaxial logging cable used also as a power supply transmission line. The system consists of a proprietary down-hole measurement tool, composed of a HP/HT sensor and a high temperature DSP-based electronic device; and located in the surface installation, a data acquisition equipment. The system employs a communication algorithm, based on the SNR characterization of the whole communication chain, which determines in real-time the optimal carrier frequency that is automatically implemented in the selected modulation/demodulation technique. The obtained laboratory tests results of the down-hole tool, using changes in temperature from 25 °C – 185 °C, provide a firm basis for testing and evaluating the system in the field.

Abstract:
When transferring patient care responsibilities across the healthcare continuum, clinicians strive to communicate safely and effectively, but communication failures exist that threaten patient safety. Although researchers are making great strides in understanding and solving intraservice handoff problems, inter-service transition communication remains underexplored. Further, electronic health records (EHRs) figure prominently in healthcare delivery, but less is known about how EHRs contribute to inter-service handoffs. This descriptive, qualitative study uses Sensemaking Theory to explore EHR-facilitated, inter-service handoffs occurring between emergency medicine and internal/hospitalist medicine physicians. The researchers conducted six focus groups with 16 attending physicians and medical residents at a major Midwestern academic hospital. Findings suggest clinicians hold varied expectations for information content and relational communication/style. Their expectations contribute to making sense of uncertain handoff situations and communication best practices. Participants generally perceive EHRs as tools that, when used appropriately, can enhance handoffs and patient care continuity. Ideas for practical applications are offered based on study results.

Abstract:
64 Background: Clinical management of patients with advanced cancer is complex, involving specialized treatment and multiple healthcare providers in different settings. In this context, care coordination and sharing of contextual information is often inadequate, leading to suboptimal continuity of care. Electronic communication has the potential to address these gaps and engage patients in their own care. We studied a web-based tool which assembles the patient, their caregivers and their healthcare providers in a virtual space for team-based communication. We sought to understand participant perceptions on electronic communication in general, and the added value of the new tool in particular. Methods: We conducted a qualitative descriptive study with participants (patients with advanced cancer, caregivers, cancer physicians) who participated in a 3-month pilot trial evaluating the tool. Interviews were thematically analyzed and the perspectives from patients, caregivers and cancer physicians were triangulated. Results: We identified five themes relating participants’ perspectives on electronic communication to their experience of care: 1) apparent gaps in care; 2) uncertainty in defining the circle of care; 3) relational aspects of communication; 4) incongruence between technology and social norms of patient-physician communication; and 5) appreciation but apprehension about the role of the electronic communication tool for improving the experience of care. Conclusions: The potential of tools for electronic communication to bring together a team of healthcare providers with the patient and caregivers is significant but may pose new challenges to existing team structure and interpersonal dynamics. Patients and physicians were worried about the impact that electronic communication may have on the patient-physician relationship. Implementation approaches which build on the relationship, and integrate the team as a whole, could positively position electronic communication to enhance team-based care.

Abstract:
Background Electronic health (eHealth) tools are increasingly being applied in health care. They are expected to improve access to health care, quality of health care, and health outcomes. Although the advantages of using these tools in health care are well described, it is unknown to what extent eHealth tools are effective when used by vulnerable population groups, such as the elderly, people with low socioeconomic status, single parents, minorities, or immigrants. Objective This study aimed to examine whether the design and implementation characteristics of eHealth tools contribute to better use of these tools among vulnerable groups. Methods In this systematic review, we assessed the design and implementation characteristics of eHealth tools that are used by vulnerable groups. In the meta-analysis, we used the adherence rate as an effect size measure. The adherence rate is defined as the number of people who are repetitive users (ie, use the eHealth tool more than once). We also performed a meta-regression analysis to examine how different design and implementation characteristics influenced the adherence rate. Results Currently, eHealth tools are continuously used by vulnerable groups but to a small extent. eHealth tools that use multimodal content (such as videos) and have the possibility for direct communication with providers show improved adherence among vulnerable groups. Conclusions eHealth tools that use multimodal content and provide the possibility for direct communication with providers have a higher adherence among vulnerable groups. However, most of the eHealth tools are not embedded within the health care system. They are usually focused on specific problems, such as diabetes or obesity. Hence, they do not provide comprehensive services for patients. This limits the use of eHealth tools as a replacement for existing health care services.

Abstract:
This paper presents evidence from three global democratic organizations that “e-” is not a relevant modifier of decision-making concepts related to “democracy”. Defining “e-” as shorthand for decision-making skills and tools enabled by ICTs, including computer-mediated communication (CMC), it tests whether “e-” is an “incremental” innovation augmenting existing capabilities of democracy as a decision-making tool. It finds that “e-“ acts as a “radical” innovation to democratic decision-making tools by providing different capabilities than democracy. It also finds that indicators of good democratic decision-making (participation, sustainability, and impact) say little about the ability of “e-” to achieve the same desirable goals aspired by democracy.

Abstract:
Progressively deeper and hotter oil wells have driven design modification that enhances the performance in sensors and downhole electronic instruments. Oil reservoirs in Mexico are located at mean depths of 6,000 m; as a consequence, the requirements for measuring thermodynamic and geophysical parameters are challenging. This paper describes a bidirectional communication system that exchanges data from a down-hole high pressure and high temperature (HP/HT) measurement tool to the surface installation. The communication medium is a 7 km mono-conductor 1K22 logging cable used also as a power supply transmission line. The system consists of a proprietary downhole measurement tool, composed of a HT/HP sensor and a high temperature DSP-based electronic device, and a data acquisition equipment located in the surface installation. The system employs a communication algorithm that automatically switches the modulation technique and changes the carrier frequency to avoid issues derived from noise interference, cable attenuation and thermal drift of the front end passive elements. The laboratory tests results provide a firm basis for testing and evaluating the system in the field.

Abstract:
This article describes the research strategy for the development of a computerized assessment tool as part of a European Union (EU)–funded project, the European Palliative Care Research Collaborative (EPCRC). The EPCRC is funded through the Sixth Framework Program of the EU with major objectives to develop a computer-based assessment and classification tool for pain, depression, and cachexia. A systematic approach will be applied for the tool development with emphasis on multicultural and multilanguage challenges across Europe. The EPCRC is based on a long lasting collaboration within the European Association for Palliative Care Research Network. The ongoing change in society towards greatly increased use of communication as well as information transfer via digital systems will rapidly change the health care system. Therefore, patient-centered outcome assessment tools applicable for both clinic and research should be developed. Report of symptoms via digital media provides a start for face-to-face communication, treatment decisions, and assessment of treatment effects. The increased use of electronic media for exchange of information may facilitate the development and use of electronic assessment tools and decision-making systems in oncology. In the future, patients may find that a combination of a face-to-face interview plus a transfer of information of subjective symptoms by electronic means will optimize treatment.

Abstract:
AbstractTechnological progress in the field of media and communication as well as the dynamics of development of modern communication tools pose a challenge for studying the issue of space in communication and proxemics theory. The mediatisation of almost all aspects of human life is based on increasingly better communication tools that transform time-space relations in communication. Natural forms of interpersonal communication are increasingly being replaced by mediatized communication. Electronic communicators are becoming a kind of laboratory that modifies contexts, channels and codes of communication acts, especially in the proxemics field. Therefore, the purpose of our analyses is to show some aspects of these changes from the perspective of three basic proxemics categories: interpersonal distance, territoriality and space arrangement. In this way, we want to achieve the triple goal of our analysis: cognitive, research and practical. The cognitive goal is an attempt to show changes in the proxemics code in mediatized communication. The research goal is to describe the functioning of this code in electronic communication practice. However, the practical goal of our analyses is to point out the important rules for using proxemics in improving the quality of personality and efficiency of communication.

Abstract:
The latest technical revolution introduces information and communication technologies in all spheres of social relations and human life. Active digital modernization of many processes in the judiciary and advocacy has begun, through the use of modern electronic hardware, IoT devices, specialized software, artificial intelligence, chatbots, webbots, etc. These processes have a positive impact on the organization of judicial and advocacy activities, as they improve the quality, level and speed of work of judges and lawyers. The vast majority of information created and used in the judiciary and advocacy has text file formats structured in accordance with the requirements of procedural codes and regulations, which contain stable rules of law and formal-ized descriptions of events or actions of subjects. This promotes the use of modern methods and digital technologies for analytical processing of court materials. World experience in the use of artificial intelligence, neural networks and other types of software shows positive prospects for the introduction of electronic courts. The introduction of modern information technologies and processes in the judiciary and the bar has a number of risks, one of which is that in fact the current system is testing the mechanism of automated, without human intervention, the creation of justice. At this initial stage, it is studied whether artificial intelligence, which manages specialized software products and IoT devices, is able to sufficiently process all information materials of the trial, provide them with a legal assessment and prepare a draft lawful and reasonable decision. communication technology and artificial intelligence in the judiciary and advo-cacy is an irreversible process. Currently, it is at an early stage, which can be classified as research work using modern information and communication technologies, which is quite temporarily chaotic, despite attempts at regulation by the state. However, this process is positive and aimed at achieving the goal of improving the efficiency of justice in Ukraine.

Abstract:
Abstract Objectives The operating room is a specialized, complex environment with many factors that can impede effective communication during transitions of care between anesthesia clinicians. We postulated that an efficient, accessible, standardized tool for intraoperative handoffs built into standard workflow would improve communication and handoff safety. Most institutions now use an electronic health record (EHR) system for patient care and have independently designed intraoperative handoff tools, but these home-grown tools are not scalable to other organizations and lack vendor-supported features. The goal of this project was to create a standardized, intraoperative handoff tool supported by EHR functionality. Methods The Multicenter Handoff Collaborative, with support from the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation, created a working group of frontline anesthesia experts to collaborate with a development team from the EHR vendor (Epic Systems) to design a standardized intraoperative handoff tool. Over 2 years, the working group identified the critical elements for the tool and software usability, and the EHR team designed a standardized intraoperative handoff tool that is accessible to any institution using this EHR. Results The first iteration of the intraoperative handoff tool was released in August 2019, with a second version in February 2020. The tool is standardized but customizable by individual institutions. Conclusion We demonstrate that work on complex health care processes critical to patient safety, such as handoffs, can be performed on a national scale through cross-industry collaboration. Frontline experts can partner with health care industry vendors to design, build, and release a product on an accelerated timeline.

Abstract:
In the article the means of musical communication and their evolution are considered in the historical and analytical aspect. There are two types of communication tools: acoustic, using the airspace as a channel for transmitting encoded information, and visual, which include stage design, allowing to perceive music as a kind of theatrical performance, and musical notation, graphically fixing all the components of the musical text. As the earliest means of nonwritten communication, the oral method is put forward, a vivid example of which is folklore, often called the musical memory of generations. Other examples of oral communication are cult music, improvisation and musical meditation. It is stated that musical writing, in particular, musical notation, and later printing tools created conditions for overcoming spatial and temporal barriers to the spread of music. The next step is the invention of technical sound recording, which opened a new era in the development of communications. Magnetic recording of the visual series made it possible to create concert films and opera films. The emergence of electronic and mechanical means of music recording contributed significantly to greater involvement of people in the process of musical communication.

Challenges faced by people in today's pandemic conditions are the dependence on the internet and communication tools because all the processes of work from home or school from home activities are done online. In addition to the stable and strong internet connection, the use of reliable communication equipment tools became a must and people were looking for a brand that suited this need. However, it turns out that a strong brand in the electronics industry has not guaranteed success when doing brand extension in the category of communication tools. This is experienced by Sharp, a leading electronics manufacturer from Japan. This research aims to find out whether core brand image, core brand attitude, brand association, product connection, use experience, and consumer perceptional fit, have an influence on purchase intention toward extended product in the case of Brand Sharp on its communication device product, the Sharp Aquos Zero 2 Smartphone. Quantitative research methods have been conducted using online questionnaires to respondents who are over 17 years old and know sharp electronic products, have owned their products and have seen sharp Aquos Zero 2 reviews but have never bought the product. The structural equation model (SEM) method was used to analyze these 6 research hypotheses. The result was a positive relationship between core brand image, core brand attitude, brand association, product connection, use experience, and consumer perceptional fit on purchase intention toward extended product smartphone. However, on the other hand, the core brand image and use experience variables have no influence on core brand attitude.

Abstract:
This article explores new paradigms for the use of computers in learning. Two concepts crucial to the development of qualitatively new kinds of computer-based learning environments are identified: the importance of focusing on the underlying process rather than just the product of a creative effort; and the importance of the computer's ability to record, represent and communicate that underlying process. We discuss the cognitive, pedagogical, and sociological issues relevant to the creation of learning environments in five domains, along with examples of specific possibilities in each: 1) Empowering environments. How can we design computer-based tools that both promote creativity and aid the development of artistic discipline? 2) Games. How can the motivational aspects of arcade-style games be transferred to more fertile learning environments? 3) Communication. How can we break away from the fundamentally linear structuring of ideas necessary in print-based communication and create tools to aid the representation and comprehension of nonlinear ideas and arguments? 4) Writing. How can we create tools to help authors move from the chaos of pre-articulate ideas to the order of a polished document? 5) Education. How can we create a computer-based system that “mirrors” students' thought processes, helping them to reflect on those processes and thereby to improve their metacognitive skills?

Abstract:
Numerous communication protocols have been designed offering a set of security properties through the use of cryptographic tools to secure electronic document transfer. However, there is no clear match between the tools used and security properties they offer. To solve this problem, the authors propose to use a component-based approach; more specifically the authors introduce the notion of high-level security component where each component provides an atomic security property. This approach will facilitate the design of new protocols that fulfill any specific set of security properties by assembling the appropriate components. At the same time, users using a protocol designed with these security components will have the assurance that the protocol satisfies the security properties required for the electronic document transfer. The authors validate the approach by showing how the integrity property can be added to the HTTP protocol to design a security property-centric HTTPS and in this case an integrity-only HTTPS.

IntroductionBreaking bad news and dealing with difficult patient encounters is a skill that medical residents must learn during their curriculum. Many different tools are available to measure communication quality, but their development and validation processes are often missing. In this paper, we present the protocol of a systematic review aiming to identify the validated tools for measuring communication skills or communication effectiveness with parents in a paediatrics setting in general, including for difficult patient encounters. Methods and analysisWe will conduct our systematic review in accordance with the methodology suggested by COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) and will report this paper following the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses. We will include the studies in which authors developed and/or validated tools for assessing the quality of communication with families by residents and/or physicians during patient encounters in paediatric settings. Studies assessing communication in telemedicine and studies that use the tool to measure a different outcome than its validation will be excluded. Our search strategy will be developed by a scientific librarian and validated using the Peer Review of Electronic Search Strategy (PRESS) tool. Two reviewers will independently screen the studies for selection, extract data of the ones included and assess their level of risk of bias using the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist. We will perform a narrative synthesis on the study selection process, the characteristics of studies and study population, the characteristics of tools identified, their process of development and/or validation and their psychometric properties. If sufficient data are available, we will do quantitative analyses for each psychometric property.Ethics and disseminationApproval from an ethics committee is not required, as there is no primary data collection. Background Intensive care unit early mobility programs improve patients’ functional status and outcomes. An electronic health record–based communication tool improved interprofessional communication within an early mobility program. Long-term sustainability of this communication tool has not been evaluated. Local Problem Ineffective interprofessional communication was perceived as a barrier to success of an intensive care unit early mobility program at the project institution. An electronic health record–based communication tool was successfully implemented to improve communication. Sustaining the intervention is of continued importance. Methods Longitudinal data were collected 2 years after initial implementation of the communication tool to evaluate its continued impact on patient outcomes and staff engagement with an intensive care unit early mobility program. Results Initial implementation of the electronic health record–based communication tool resulted in statistically and clinically significant improvements in patient and staff metrics. Compared with postimplementation data, 2-year longitudinal follow-up data revealed nonsignificant changes in patient outcomes (time from admission to mobility goal, mechanical ventilation duration, length of intensive care unit stay, and discharge disposition recommendations to higher independence levels). Staff reported continued use of the communication tool and positive perceptions of its impact on the intensive care unit early mobility program. Conclusions Nonsignificant changes in patient outcomes may indicate sustainment of the effect of the communication tool’s original implementation. Employing appropriate sustainment techniques is essential to maintain practice change. The electronic health record–based communication tool can improve interprofessional communication within an intensive care unit early mobility program, improving patient outcomes and staff teamwork.
