Abstract:
Privacy has never been an explicit goal of authorization mechanisms. The traditional approach to authorisation relies on strong authentication of a stable identity using long term credentials. Audit is then linked to authorization via the same identity. Such an approach compels users to enter into a trust relationship with large parts of the system infrastructure, including entities in remote domains. In this dissertation we advance the view that this type of compulsive trust relationship is unnecessary and can have undesirable consequences. We examine in some detail the consequences which suc

This paper explores the relationship between man, nature and immortality through the lens of two novels: The Children of Men by P.D. James, and The Road by Cormac McCarthy. The paper looks at the way these two novels approach the end of humanity and how the characters respond to the pending extinction. In The Road a nuclear holocaust wipes everything out, covering the world in ash, and slowly killing humans much the way the dinosaurs died. The Children of Men focuses on the singular extinction of the human race alone, through world-wide infertility. If our immortality has always been assure by

The thesis, entitled Barack Obama and World Peace: A Rhetorical Inquiry, is a qualitative research paper that appraises President Obama's commitment to global peace, through a thematic analysis of a cross section of his speeches. Against the background of Mr. Obama's receipt of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, the thesis evaluates in five chapters Mr. Obama's merit as an icon of global peace by seeking a possible rhetorical vision of peace emerging from a cross section of his speeches, and consequently establishing a possible justification for his receipt of the Nobel Prize, using the Fantasy-theme

Since the nineteenth century, U.S. newspapers have contributing to the promotion of sports, and in the twentieth century, their sports-related news has emphasized the country’s big spectator sports such as baseball, football, and basketball (McChesney, 1989; Fort, 2000). In contrast, throughout the rest of the world, soccer and its FIFA World Cup tournament, which is held every four years, have captured much more attention than it has in the United States (USA Today, 2006). The author studies the already existing medical terminologies and ‘ontologies’ to elucidate what theories they are based on. The terminological theories of Eugen Wüster and his legacy in medical informatics are studied. AbstractRemote electronic voting, where eligible voters can cast votes from anywhere in the world on their device, promises to increase voter turnout, improve accessibility, and reduce costs. However, building a secure online voting system is difficult, involving four essential requirements: integrity, privacy, coercion-resistance, and availability. Moreover, successfully deploying a secure online voting system would require close collaboration among the public and private sectors and academia. The military and intelligence agencies could play an important role in supporting the e-voting opera
