Abstract:
This descriptive study presents detailed information on the changes that arise due to ageing both at the level of the sleep architecture and at the spectral composition of the EEG during wakefulness and REM sleep. Down syndrome people are known to have a precocious ageing demonstrated through physical appearance and various medical conditions. Research has demonstrated that ageing people with Down syndrome are predisposed to Alzheimer's disease. By the age of 35 virtually all of them have the neuropathology of the disease. In the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, alterations to the sleep ar

Abstract:
The guinea pig auditory cortex (AC) comprises at least eight areas; two core areas surrounded by six belt areas. To explore the functional roles of these eight areas, a combination of simple stimuli and conspecific communication calls were used. Responses of cells in core and belt regions of the anaesthetised guinea pig (GP) were recoraea witn custom maae muiiieiecirooes. The findings of this thesis suggest that although the rostral belt areas seem to be more involved In processing information about what a stimulus is, the other cortical areas are, to lesser degree, still involved.

Another mouse Xin protein, mXinβ (or myomaxin), has been subsequently identified as a Mef2A downstream target. Xin is localized at intercalated discs implicated in cardiac morphogenesis. Loss of mXinα, results in cardiac hypertrophy and cardiomyopathy with conduction defects. In the mXinα-deficient mice, mXinβ protein is up-regulated protein levels, suggesting a compensatory role of mXinβ.

Pulmonary veins (PVs) are an important source where atrial ectopic beats are generate to initiate AF. Abnormal calcium (Ca2+) plays a role in triggering irregular electrical activity of PV cardiomyocytes. Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) exhibits natriuretic, diuretic and vasorelaxant activity.
