AbstractThe development of high-intensity lasers has opened the field of nuclear reactions initiated by laser-accelerated particles. One possible application is the production of aneutronic fusion reactions for clean fusion energy production. We propose an innovative scheme based on the use of two targets and present the first results obtained with the ELFIE facility (at the LULI Laboratory) for the proton–boron-11 (p–11B) fusion reaction. A proton beam, accelerated by the Target Normal Sheat Acceleration mechanism using a short laser pulse (12 J, 350 fs, 1.056 µm, 1019 W cm−2), is sent onto a boron target to initiate fusion reactions. The number of reactions is measured with particle diagnostics such as CR39 track-detectors, active nuclear diagnostic, Thomson Parabola, magnetic spectrometer, and time-of-flight detectors that collect the fusion products: the α-particles. Our experiment shows promising results for this scheme. In the present paper, we discuss its principle and advantages compared with another scheme that uses a single target and heating mechanisms directly with photons to initiate the same p–11B fusion reaction.

In his long critical essay entitled simply “Hawthorne” (published in 1879), Henry James narrates the story of his own coming to know Hawthorne's most famous work of fiction, The Scarlet Letter. Speaking in an impersonal third person, James, “who was a child at the time,” explains that heremembers dimly the sensation that book produced, and the little shudder with which people alluded to it, as if a peculiar horror were mixed in its attractions. He was too young to read it himself, but its title, upon which he fixed his eyes as the book lay upon the table, had a mysterious charm. … Of course it was difficult to explain to a child the significance of poor Hester Prynne's blood-coloured A. But the mystery was at last partly dispelled by his being taken to see a collection of pictures (the annual exhibition of the National Academy), where he encountered a representation of a pale, handsome woman, in a quaint black dress and white coif, holding between her knees an elfish-looking little girl, fantastically dressed and crowned with flowers. Embroidered on the woman's breast was a great crimson A, over which the child's fingers, as she glanced strangely out of the picture, were maliciously playing. I was told that this was Hester Prynne and little Pearl, and that when I grew older I might read their interesting history.

Biodiversitas 20: 190-197. Study the Talang Mamak tribe is an isolated community that lives traditionally in the downstream Indragiri River, Riau Province, Indonesia. This tribe is one of the oldest Malay tribes (Proto Malay), relatively still maintaining hunting and gathering mode of life even though now some of them began to settle and farm. The study aims to identify their local wisdom and analyze it in the context of bioresource utilization to sustain their living needs. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation. The informants to be interviewed were selected using purposive sampling. The study showed that the local wisdom of Talang Mamak Tribe had sustainable dimension in managing bioresources which inherited from their ancestors. This cultural heritage guides the community to always live in harmony with the universe which is reflected in ritual activities such as melambas and basolang menugal (clearing land for farming), manumbai (harvesting timber from the forest) and manjumbai (harvesting honey). Sociologically, the traditions or customs carried out by the Talang Mamak tribe are an effort to preserve and maintain bioresource, so as to create a balance of relations between humans and nature.

This study is based on the existence of community learning park (in Indonesian, it‟s called Taman Belajar Masyarakat/ TBM), which lacks the attention and participation of the community in the management and development. It supports the authors to study how empirical conditions of community park management and how to develop community learning parks by integrating local cultures and local wisdom. The method used is Participatory Rural Appraisal method and data collection techniques was done by interview, observation, and documentation study. The subject of the study was TBM "Daar ElFikr" Jambu . Based on preliminary studies, the empirical condition of TBM in the management is still traditional, the teenagers are still unfamiliar with the culture of reading and writing, inadequate information technology, the absence of documentation of the work, the lack of knowledge of cultural values of the village and the local wisdom of the young generation, against traditional games, as well as quite a number of less productive teenage figures. While the form of community participation in the management of TBM is still private social. Following a community-based approach through activities that integrate the local culture and wisdom of the community, it turns out that this can make a difference in TBM. For the program activities currently carried out include: 1) Implementation of writing classes are carried out periodically to be recorded and published in a book. 2) The creation of an online book catalog that provides information about books owned by TBM and the website contains information on<br />TBM activities. 3) Documented traditional educative game CD containing life skill learning, such as mbubuan, dakon, ular tangga, gedrik, ular naga, paman dolit, wodowo, cublek-cublek suweng, sabrem, dan gobrak sodor. 4) Establishment of self-employment group.</p><p> </p><p>Abstrak. Kajian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya taman-taman belajar masyarakat (TBM) yang kurang mendapatkan perhatian maupun partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan maupun pengembangannya. Hal tersebut mendukung penulis untuk melakukan kajian bagaimana kondisi empiris pengelolaan taman bacaan masyarakat serta bagaimana pengembangan taman belajar masyarakat dengan mengintegrasikan budaya dan kearifan lokal masyarakat. Metode yang dipergunakan yaitu metode Participatory Rural Appraisal dan tehnik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan studi dokumentasi. Subjek<br />penelit ian adalah TBM “Gelaran Buku Daar El Fikr” Jambu. Berdasarkan kajian awal, kondisi empiris TBM dalam pengelolaan masih bersifat tradisional, minimnya budaya membaca dan menulis remaja desa, belum memadainya teknologi informasi, belum adanya dokumentasi hasil karya, kurangnya pengetahuan nilai-nilai budaya desa dan kearifan lokal generasi muda, tidak mengenalnya anak-anak terhadap permainan tradisional, serta cukup banyak angka kurang produktif remaja. Sedangkan bentuk partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan TBM masih bersifat sosial pribadi. Setelah dilakukan pendekatan berbasis masyarakat melalui kegiatan yang mengintegrasikan budaya dan kearifan lokal masyarakat, ternyata hal ini dapat memberikan perubahan di TBM. Untuk program kegiatan yang dilakukan saat ini diantaranya:1) Dilaksanakannya kelas menulis yang dilaksanakan secara periodik hingga dibukukan dan diterbitkan dalam sebuah buku. 2) Terciptanya katalog buku online yang memberikan informasi terkait buku-buku dimiliki TBM dan website memuat informasi kegiatan yang dilakukan TBM. 3) Terdokumentasikannya CD permainan edukatif tradisional yang mengandung pembelajaran ketrampilan hidup, yaitu : mbubuan, dakon, ular tangga, gedrik, ular naga, paman dolit, wodowo, cublek-cublek suweng, sabrem, dan gobak sodor. 4) Terbentuknya kelompok wirausaha mandiri </p>

Abstract:
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of cognitive behavior group guidance in reducing the negative mindset of vocational students. The study was carried out starting from February to July 2018, which took place at the SMK Kepuhdoko Tembelang Jombang. This study used an experimental design with the design of the Pretest and Posttest Design Group. Data were analyzed by Paired Sample Test t-test, obtained the result of tcount was 6,500 and probability number (Sig. (2-tailed) was 0.001 with df = 5. Then the results were compared with the ttable at a significant level of 5% test 2 parties with df = 5, so that the ttable is 2.571 or 6,500> 2,571. The probability value obtained is 0.001> 0.005, so it can be concluded that cognitive behavior group guidance is effective in reducing the negative mindset of vocational high-school students based on the results of the research recommended for teacher`s guidance and counseling. Applying cognitive-behavioral group guidance as one of the alternative help in reducing the negative mindset of high-school students. Furthermore, researchers can use the results of this study to be used as a reference related to cognitive behavior group guidance, and further researchers can use research designs other than one group pretest and posttest design, for example time series design and n single-subject design. Abstract The double laser pulse approach to relativistic electron beam (REB) collimation in solid targets has been investigated at the LULI-ELFIE facility. In this scheme two collinear laser pulses are focused onto a solid target with a given intensity ratio and time delay to generate REBs. The magnetic field generated by the first laser-driven REB is used to guide the REB generated by a second delayed laser pulse. We show how electron beam collimation can be controlled by properly adjusting the ratio of focus size and the delay time between the two pulses. We found that the maximum of electron beam collimation is clearly dependent on the laser focal spot size ratio and related to the magnetic field dynamics. Cu-Kα and CTR imaging diagnostics were implemented to evaluate the collimation effects on the respectively low energy (≤100 keV) and high energy (≥MeV) components of the REB.

Riau Province, along the central-eastern coast of Sumatra, is an area of high bird diversity. The purpose of this study is to document and analyze the ethnoornithological local wisdom of some selected villages and use it to develop a strategy for biodiversity conservation in Riau. The method used in this research involved direct observation of some areas that have local accumulated natural history knowledge and interviews with selected informants of the local community. Some bird species were found to be central to the local culture, and these included the Punai Saluang/Sumatran Green-pigeon (Treron oxyura Temminck), Serindit Melayu/Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot (Loriculus galgulus Linnaeus), Bubut/Greater Coucal (Centropus Sinensis Stephens), and Rangkong Gading/Helmeted Hornbill (Rhinoplax vigil Forster). These bird species are used in traditional medicine, rituals and symbols in Riau Province. Serindit Melayu/Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot is a symbol of the Malay community in Riau and averts evil in the village of Gema. Rangkong Gading/Helmeted Hornbill body parts are used in ritual treatment to cure various diseases by the TalangMamak Tribe in Rantau Langsat. Punai Saluang/Sumatran Green-pigeon is used as a metaphor in folk literature of the Malays in the Pelalawan area, and Bubut/Greater Coucal (Centropus sinensis Stephens) body parts are used as traditional medicine by the Malays in Kuok Village. There are several aspects that need to be studied further to conserve these birds, including the ecology, reproduction, and behavior aspects. Through preservation of these ethnoornithological rituals and education of the younger generation, these and other species of birds can be better sustained in and around the culture of Riau society.
