Full textThis work is about Lithuania’s political elite, its change and transformation after the restoration of independence. The main purpose of this work is to describe the change of Lithuania’s political elite, answering two questions. First of all, finding out the alternation of the “old” elites – how many of today’s political elite were members of Communist party of the USSR and LSSR, how many of them were members of The Supreme Soviet of the Lithuanian SSR. Second, finding out the alternation of the “new” elites – recirculation and change of parliament and government members of Lithuania. To achieve these purposes there were formulated some goals. First of all, what were the reasons that influenced Post-Communist Transformation processes in Middle and Eastern Europe, what was the role of M. Gorbachev’s political and economical reforms in Post-Communist Transformation process and what was the impact of Sąjūdis the Reform Movement of Lithuania in the transformation processes. Secondly, how Lithuanian political parties influence democratization processes and elite change, what is the level of education of Lithuania’s political elite and finally, what is recirculation and change of parliament and government members’ of Lithuania. To achieve these goals there were made a research analyzing the configuration and composition of parliament and government of Lithuania. Research was made using descriptive, analytical, comparative and mathematical methods. The conclusion is that one of... [to full text]

Full textThis analysis is aimed to provide a more comprehensive approach towards this century’s “coloured revolutions”, which have taken place in Georgia (2003), Ukraine (2004) and than moved to other post soviet countries. Obviously, this conspicuous and epidemic phenomenon proved an existing political viability in the slow-moving transitional countries. But still, it is not clear if this post soviet styled political instability reflects anything more than a tremor without long lasting democratic effects to future political and social developments of CIS countries. The author observes an existing academic confusion while trying to define “colour” events and evaluate the prospects of such kind of “democratic breakthrough” in CIS. Therefore, avoiding any miscalculations in this analysis, “coloured revolutions” are defined as revolution situations without revolution outcomes. That means, the success of “colour” events is limited to the cases where partial change of ruling elite has taken place. “Post colour” political developments are not taken into the account. The author selects three different cases – Georgia and Ukraine (two examples of successful “colour” change) and Belarus (the case of failed “revolution”). The main aim of these cases’ analysis is to define and examine factors which cause high-degree of political instability and partial political changes in elite level and try to explain why the same kind of revolution situation does not evolve in other countries of the region... Full textKarate is an invited Sport in the Olympic Games that will be organized in Tokyo 2020, and the World Karate Federation expects that Karate becomes an Official Olympic Sport. The central objective of the present Thesis was to make a systematic review of the published studies, that allow identifying the distinctive factors of the Karatecas with the best competitive performance; as an additional objective we worked to provide reference values related to Elite Athletes’ performance, in areas like maximal strength, muscle power, and velocity. It was followed the systematic review ’s method proposed by Harris et al. (2013). The results reported significant differences between Elite and Non-Elite Athletes, and among the Elite level (winners and losers). Between Elite and Non-Elite Athletes, the discriminating factors are: a predominantly ecto-mesomorphic somatotype; greater aerobic capacity; less blood lactate after work; higher levels of maximal strength and muscle power; more efficient coordinative strategies in Mawashigeri’s performance; better control in static and dynamic balance; better control in visual and kinesthetic mental images; greater skills in decision-making, during Kumite; a more offensive fighting strategy. Between winning and losing Elite Athletes, in Kumite, the most distinctive factors are anticipation skills of the opponent’s actions, a greater attacking initiative and better coping strategies in Kumite.
