Abstract:
The Weierstrass elliptic function satisfies a nonlinear first order and a nonlinear second order differential equation. It is shown that these differential equations can be discretized in such a way that the solutions of the resulting difference equations exactly coincide with the corresponding values of the elliptic function.

In the study of elliptic differential operators of second order, we found that the automorphism pseudogroups are of finite type ([4]). However this fact takes a complete change in elliptic differential operators of first order. So as to make the objects which can be dealt with clear, we introduce the concept of pseudoellipticity of first order differential operators (Definition 1.1), which is naturally satisfied by first order elliptic differential operators.

Abstract This research paper uses a direct algebraic computational scheme to construct the Jacobi elliptic solutions based on the conformal fractional derivatives for nonlinear partial fractional differential equations (NPFDEs). Three vital models in mathematical physics [the space-time fractional coupled Hirota Satsuma KdV equations, the space-time fractional symmetric regularized long wave (SRLW equation), and the space-time fractional coupled Sakharov–Kuznetsov (S–K) equations] are investigated through the direct algebraic method for more explanation of their novel characterizes. In the paper, by means of Laplace transform the Sobolev differential equations become to the elliptic differential equations, which can be solved by the fourth order finite difference equations in parallel. After getting the approximate solutions of the elliptic differential equations, we can achieve the numerical solutions with high accuracy for the Sobolev differential equations by using the Zakian inversion method. At last, we carry out one numerical experiment to indicate that the method in this paper is effective.

In this thesis our primary interest is in developing adaptive solution methods for parabolic and elliptic partial differential equations. The convection-diffusion equation is used as a representative test problem. Investigations are made into adaptive temporal solvers implementing only a few changes to existing software. This includes a comparison of commercial code against some more academic releases. A novel way to select step sizes for an adaptive BDF2 code is introduced. A chapter is included introducing some functional analysis that is required to understand aspects of the finite element
